Wow same thing happened to me yesterday Jonathan i was at Jelako Waypoint. I fell asleep at the keyboard for a few minute then I saw the black screen. After which i saw the ban notice. Wanted to get my alt up a few levels . Just dropped like 100 dollars in the last few weeks for gems. This is not really very fair been waiting to play this game for years have 800 hours already on my characters. I am an old fart 63 to be exact I work part time so plenty of time for gaming. I really want to keep playing this game it’s much better then what’s on tv. they should have least given a warning

Cmon forum mod please read this thread.. forward this issue. look at this guy. He’s a bot? EXACT same issue as mine..powerlving characters at dynamic events is not a crime lol. SO what if we fall asleep or go to bio or in my case SMOKE. Wife wont let me smoke inside.. so I afk between events in a safe place and go smoke.

Who/Whatever is doing these bannings needs a talking too, or as I suspect its not a real person at all..can’t be or theyd see our characters arent moving between the dynamic events.. I still hold its a program with a set criteria and this one is falling through the cracks

GreenManGaming rejected my refund request. I went back told NA do something with greenmangaming. Give them credit or something. And NA did not do kitten to help or restore my account. They just robbed $79.99 buck from me. kitten it. Anyone has class action lawsuit going on?

Your previous post you said you were using a macro which is not allowed. Just because other people are using it doesn’t mean it’s ok.

If you can play why are you here? We have a real problem here. I have an account with hundreds of hours multiple lvl 80 geared characters that I would never jeopardize with something so cheesy as botting. Thats for gold farmers. for XP? to easy can 1-80 in a week solo? gold? never farmed can be verified with my gem to gold trades

I mentioned several times its a theory.. but there are alot of similarities as well to myself and others doings prior to ban

All we want is someone to LOOK.. not just dismiss. look at our activity and what flagged us and then correct it. Un ban us first

Why am I here? Because I want to stop people from spreading rumors as to what is causing the bans for botting.

Some examples:

Farming causes you to be banned!
Using a high end keyboard and you are banned!
Standing anywhere near a botter gets you banned!
I was doing a dungeon and was BANNED!

Every last bit of that is ludicrous and simply panic driven rumors.

There are people that are farming and not banned.
There are people using high end keyboards and not banned.
There are people who stand near bots that are not banned.
There are people in dungeons who are not banned.

No one dismissed your issue. In fact, since you have a support ticket, you are the very definition of not dismissed.

My acct got blocked as well. This is the second problem I have had with arena net since I bought and downloaded the game on October 7.

The first problem was due to, I think, hanging out with a group of botters. I was trying to leech exp in the lake in WvW. (Anyway my acct was suspended on October 21, think the same time 3000 accounts were banned). I sent a support ticket and had an initial response back within an hour. After sending some follow up information my account was restored.

Bringing me to today. Last night I was farming the daily event chain, in the Straights of Devestation. I farmed off and on until early this morning (7 am CST). I logged off, slept 4 hours, worked 4 hours, then went to log back in to find my account had been terminated for botting, extended unattended play, using macros, or similar behavior.

I admit that I did go afk a time or two to grab something to drink, bathroom break, etc, where I didn’t leave the group I was in, but was never gone more than about 2 mins. However seeing as my toon was a Necro with zero pets running (I do use hounds of Balthazar from time to time but seeing as those are 40 second pets I wasn’t including them) I just don’t see how a 2-3 min break was extended unattended play. In addition I have never created a macro, nor do I even know how to create them, nor do I bot.

I just wish I knew where NCSoft/ArenaNet thought I had been using illegal procedures. Also I put in my support ticket (ticket #121113-003472) about 6 hours ago and haven’t heard anything, not even an automated response. From what I understand I may have to wait 72 hours.. It is just so frustrating.

Any other advice, other than the support ticket, is appreciated.

There’s nothing more you can do; just wait patiently for your ticket to go through. If you did nothing wrong, then there’s no reason you shouldn’t get your account back.

People are being unjustly banned for botting and no one is spreading rumors its conjecture based out of frustration

The purpose of this thread was to just find out what ppl had been doing recently prior to botting ban and to let ANET know there is alot of us and there IS alot of us.. My theory is that something possibly long play time in combination with DE"s and or afking between is causing a flag. I see some similar people experiancing the same. So its going to stay my theory until proven otherwise

Hey guys, just wanted to tell you all that I finally got my account restored. I guess it just takes time, so try to be patient ( I know it’s hard). It took roughly 3days + to get it back and I received an e-mail that my account was ok to use. Good luck to you guys!

I got banned in heart of the mists.

I guess they thought I was botting the training golems, oh noes!

I spent less than 20 minutes in all the places I visited before heart of the mists.

I got banned on Sunday night there was awkward lag with attack delays, freezing, and porting backwards also known as rubber banding. I guess when I initially logged in there was no problem, however I couldn’t find a group for shelt/pent in Cursed shore so I decided to go level my alt, this is when the problem started. I followed a zerg for a few minutes but decided it was a waste of time and logged back on my main problems escalated I restarted the client with no luck I checked my network for any problems none in sight outside of GW2, so I just assumed it was a problem on A.net’s side, however I was skyping with my friends at the time and asked if they were experiencing the same things their reply “no”. I resumed farming since I really wanted that last stretch of 8 gold for my set, but soon after my whole client froze everyone stood in place I restarted and a few minutes after that I believe I was banned for botting. I can only assume that the problems I was experiencing had something to do with my ban, especially the porting backwards which is very similar to what bots do when the teleport from spot to spot, however that being said I have no ideal why I was the only one that was experiencing this phenomenon other than the fact that I was using the Mac Beta client and not the Windows client like my friends.

TL:DR = Had a bunch of problems with lag including porting backwards, was banned shortly after. Friends had no problem, however they were using the Windows client and I was using the Beta Mac Client.

Not in the ticket update threads, no answer apart from the copy paste fraudulent code response everyone else got.

I was farming the chain of daily events in the Straits of Devestation. I was playing from late last night until early this morning. (probably 9pmish to 7:05 am.) I did change toons a few times and ran off to Divinty’s reach etc, but for the most part was just doing the chain over and over again. Between chains I would salvage/sell and wait for the chain to start over.

Went to login at 4:30ish pm today and was banned. I sent a support ticket and am still waiting for a response. (Maybe it is just me, but even an auto response saying we have received your ticket and am routing it to the proper CSR, would make me feel better.

Unfortunately the login response doesn’t allow me to know if I was banned for botting, macroing, or extended unattended gameplay.

The craziest part is how the upcoming event is overshadowing the scandal and allowing anet to take their time on an issue which should have been dealt with swiftly. Perhaps after this event the community will be able to take a stand and ask for some answers.

I honestly had that exact same problem except I was just simply trying to level an Alt all together and I needed a bit more Xp to level up. I went to do a heart and found a RP friend so I sat with them in that area and did a bit of RPing and near the time we were leaving I started Rubber Banning between the spot I killed the Ettin, the annoying area in the cavern with the truffles, pigs, worms, and lieutenant ettins, at and the spot I ran to after defeating it. After that we walked all the way to the camp near the portal at the south of Kessex Hills and I do believe we both got banned.

I myself am also using the Mac Beta but could that have anything to do with it?

This was Monday at around 4:40ish my time…

I’ve had a few people in the other thread that had similar problems before being banned, however I’m not sure if they were using Mac Beta or not, that being said I don’t really see anything else that would set us apart for having these problems. Oh yeah and the people that had similar problems also were banned this weekend and not before that.

Fellow “banned-for-botting” person here.

I only have one character, a Charr Guardian, level 80. That day, I had indeed played a little longer than usual and was farming Cursed Shore (both mats and the dynamic events) from noon until 18h. I logged into the game again at 21h30-ish, killed a few Undead, then warped to the Melandru temple to help someone who had asked in Map Chat. We didn’t have enough people to bring the boss down, so I started to run off to farm Mithril and Orichalcum. I was underwater near the temple gathering Mithril when I got banned at approximately 21h50/22h.

Like the person above, I’m using the Mac Beta. I’d think that THAT is a sure sign of a non-bot…anyhow, I have no amazing advanced gamer equipment that can churn out macros like a Razer Naga mouse or one of those keyboards. I play for half the time on a Mac desktop and the other half on a 13-inch Macbook Pro with a terrible little Microsoft wireless el-cheapo travel mouse. What kind of bot uses a 13-inch Macbook Pro and a travel mouse? Seriously.

Forgot to add: I was having massive lag issues during my second login for the day, could be a case of this “rubber-banding” that you describe

3 days arenanet, I’m not going anywhere. You’ve stolen my money and I want it, or my account back. Ignoring me isn’t going to make me give up.

My account was banned and I’ve been accused of using a stolen credit card to buy a fraudulent copy of the game.
- Ticket submitted November 11th.
- Purchased November 8th.
- Purchased through buy.guildwars2.com
- I WAS charged. No, it’s not pending, I’ve been charged.
- I’ve sent support the CC billing info, zip code, address etc. through my support ticket.
- Send PDF copy of the confirmation from the bank that I was charged through my support ticket.
No response since they said I was using a stolen credit card on 11/11. It’s now November 14th, I’ve updated my ticket multiple times with helpful and useful information proving my innocence of the crimes (literally) Anet is accusing me of and proving they have my money.
At this point Anet has committed a fraud by taking my money and not delivering the product. I’d like the situation rectified as soon as possible and expect an apology for being accused of criminal actions when there was none, and being forced to wait days for an answer on a mistake completely made by ArenaNet who had no problem taking my money.

Seriously though, I fail to see why a botter would use the Mac Beta and a 13-inch Macbook Pro. Mine heats up so badly when I’m playing GW2 that I can’t possibly run any programs simultaneously for fear of the thing spontaneously combusting.

This. I can’t be playing my character (I “park” her in a safe town area) when I’m having a cigarette for 5 to 10 minutes because I’m too busy smoking. AFK but in no way “in action”. Now that you mention it, I don’t know if this is what got me banned, my smoking breaks?

Banned as well. Had it happen last night and it freaked me out. Was levelling up my guardian and got kicked. Not quite sure what raised an alarm on my account. I don’t farm in one area, I generally finish everything in a map before I go on to the next one and I only have about 18g across my toons. I put my ticket in about 18 hours ago and haven’t heard anything yet.
Also – not on a Mac …. and I don’t smoke

i am still here, after the bann approximately 34 hours ago, and the apparent removal of my first ticket somtime last night while i was asleep, i have had no responses for my new ticket or old one that was removed for no kitten reason,

That was sarcasm, about my smoking breaks. Apologies if this comes off as a bit aggressive, but please show some consideration for those of us who are somewhat stressed at this time about losing hundreds of hours (and possibly, for those of us who bought gems, real money) spent on our characters.

I honestly don’t know what got me banned, but clearly something I’ve been doing has been setting off alarm bells and I can’t, for the life of me, figure out what it could be.

I would like to think that this is more of matter of time before they reinstate our accounts rather than “if” they will reinstate our accounts. However, I also don’t want all my hopes to comes crashing down on me right before my Biochemistry exam tomorrow so hopefully A.net doesn’t send me an email until tomorrow night if at all.

first of all this will be the ticket you’ll receive from me. i just want to appeal with your false accusation of me doing illegal third party program. at first you said that im selling gold or trading it for real world money. can an account who only got 11 gold ever gonna stupid stuffs like selling it for real money? of course not cos if im a gold seller ofc i’ll sell bulks of golds and my character logs got a huge amount of money from transactions and history.

2nd one. now that my penalty changed into botting and using third party program. if im gonna bot i will do it 24/7 and abuse the game most of the botters do it 24/7 farming on maps and not doing anything other stuffs cos the important thing about bots is to farm more golds so they can sell it for real money or to upgrade their gears ofc. as you can see my character got spvp titles. do bots go to spvp room? ofc not. i got 2 spvp titles, nice stats from spvp, nice stats from wvwvw, map completions, crafting profession. also to let you know that i am playing my character all day. this is my routine, farm oris, omnomberries, ancient sapplings in Malchor’s leap, Cursed Shore and Frost gorge sound, and im hunting dragons too like Jormag, Shaterer and Tequatl. also i dont think bots can run dungeons cos you can see it thru my logs that i usually run Crucible of Eternity twice a day which is path 1 and 2, and last bots dont do Jump Puzzles in Eternal Battlegrounds and do WvWvW and after that BOTS do not go in SPVP room to kill some peoples.

3rd one. im not using any macros or illegal third party program. the only one im using is a Razer GameBooster. this gamebooster will let your desktop games runs smoothly you can search it via google and as you can see it’ll help your fps and less lag in the game. im using this bcos im experiencing a little bit lag in WvWvW also via hunting dragons.

I would like to think that this is more of matter of time before they reinstate our accounts rather than “if” they will reinstate our accounts. However, I also don’t want all my hopes to comes crashing down on me right before my Biochemistry exam tomorrow so hopefully A.net doesn’t send me an email until tomorrow night if at all.

sorry to say, but it pretty much is an “if” they reinstate the account, even if the player had done nothing wrong in the first palce, im still waiting for them to either: remove my ticket again, or sent me mail telling me im still banned, because i would rarther look at it on a worse case senario, then to hope that they will, and then have them not

Hi, I may be right/wrong in posting here, our guild leader had his account hacked whilst he was at work (he is a long distance lorry driver), as our leader had changed server this was odd so we phoned him and it was not him playing but someone had hacked his account and is probably using it to bot/farm that server as his tag confirms to be from a gold seller i.e Baruch Bay [SP].
He contacted support whilst mid way through his working day having parked at a lorry stop to inform that his account may have been compromised he gave them certain log in details only he would have known but because he did not have his serial code to hand and support would not even talk to him about it.
Surely if support have reason to believe that an account may be compromised then that account should have been suspened until proof of ownership but no they have allowed the account to continue to bot/farm.
Our only + in this is, is that whoever stole the account did not kick everyone form the guild and has left everything as it is.
Surely if an account is in question then it should be suspended from play until such proof is given?

you cannot suppose the support will help you, I have just received the answer after 5 days, and they will not give my account back because of botting, which I have never done..

I decided to head to Frostgorge Sound to gather mats while i waited for the Jormag event when my screen when black and get the error code when i try to log back in, saying my account have been terminated due to botting (with no warning)
plz look at my data I have done nothing wrong I don’t juse bots or macros I only play more then 12 houres in a day
I whas gathering mats en killing trolls that whas all en waithing for the Jormag event

How do you defend against bans like this? Playing the game clean as yourself with no assistance programs, get banned, how do you convince customer support that you were playing real? Would I have to setup a camera to video record myself playing the game at my computer chair?

They terminated my account for payment fraud.
I didn’t cheat/bot/hack at all.
All I did was to buy the game from a non-official merchandise as many of us.
All I want is my character back to continue my progress.
I’ve already bought a physical copy of the game and I created a new account.
I opened a ticket too asking that but none answered.
Someone having the same experience? Any moderator can give somne advise?
Can my previous account be linked with my new one so I can continue where I left?

I got the same situation, after 2 months of playing my account is banned for payment fraud, not my fault at all because I bought the game form seller. Now I’m waiting for response from support if I can get back my account with new serial code, but I see many people waiting over 2 weeks for answer this question and nothing. Now I lose upcoming event. I won’t buy another serial code until they get my old account back because I wasted too much time for it. I must say that support in this game is terrible and I see things like this first time in any game, I’m starting regret that I buy this game…

I was playing some wvwvw and all of a sudden my game crashes and when i try to login again it says i was permanly banned for botting.
But I never used a botting program of any kind I always play by the rules.
So I don’t know why but Anet can you please look into my accound and see why I got banned?

I was banned when I tried to log in last night 11/13/12. I am accused of botting. I DO NOT use any 3rd party programs. When I checked this forum last night it was on page 39 it is now on 42. There also is another thread started on bans. It seems this is not an isolated event. I understand things happen, however with this many people reporting the same problem and no response period is not good business.

Anet if you know why these false accusations bans are happening tell us, if not, tell us. Silence is not golden when you are wondering if your 50-70 dollar purchase is worthless. At least tell us what you do or don’t know.

I reiterate I do not leech xp, I do not use macroes, and I am not AFK for extended periods of time. I didn’t buy this game to log in and not play it.

I guess from what I am reading I should feel lucky to get the auto response email. I would prefer a response from an actual human. At this point I would take a general response on this thread to all of us.

^u got same problem as me and alot people here, its take about 3 days for response.
btw, ~60 hours and still not get response from Anet, guess i will post in 3days and older thread tomorrow, starting to tired for this.

That would not make sense until your guild leader proves his owns the account. Think about it, if everyone can contact ANet and claim they own the account without a serial code and other required information and ANet suspends those account, people would prank the hell out of other players they do not like.

Your guild leader should send in a ticket and get all the information needed to ANet so they can suspend the account once the ownership is verified.

I was in Kessex Hills heading toward the bridge when my screen went black. Thought it was a pc issue so I closed out of the game and re opened it and got the message for botting, unattended play, macro using, blah, blah blah. Daily I would just jump into the zerg mix and do the events over and over. It was fun to me and recieved easy xp and karma. So just because I do events over and over that YOU implemented into the game that YOU have not fixed I am automatically a BOT! I revive people, mine, kill random monsters to go towards my daily ( also zone back to Queensdale to hit my diffrent mob kills or whatever it’s called, I forget) . I’m pretty sure bots don’t do all that. Also I would use YOUR AUTO ATTACK feature so I could run to the bathroom or do something else while attacking the monsters particularly the Overlord. It has been over 24 plus hours since I was banned but nonetheless I am very upset with this because I enjoy playing this game and you took that away from me. You have left a very bad taste in my mouth and you need to make this right.

And i just said in the chat the you can make from 1-3 gold per hours and 3 mins later I got terminated. Why i only played this game for 3 weeks, I never bought any gold or sell any gold. And why will I be farming if i bought gold or farming for that amount of gold to sell? And why will I tell people to come in chat? I place a ticket and i never had a respond back. Can some1 help me plz. I pay 65$ for this game and i just got terminated for no reason or proof the i was selling gold or buying ; ;. why they just thru my account history? Terminating me from the game for no reason.

Gold seller use chat to advertise and you used word “gold” so i think you get auto banned.
Post ticket wait 3 days+ I think everything will go well in your case. Take care

Gaile, thanks for your help. Though the serial code turned out to be fraudulent after all, but the account is released. Will give some bad advertising (I have to) to the reseller. Not the best solution, but at least something.. Pity it took so much time to solve.
