I have had crashed ever since HoT aswell, I’m running on 64bit with far too much memory to ever realistically run out playing a game, though I’ll keep an eye on it for now. It seems for me that while I usually do not have framerate issues the crashes are precedented by them. So I’ll drop 20-30 frames on average and a few seconds to a minute later it’ll die. I must have sent 10-15 crash reports over the last 2 days….

E: this is by no means “unplayable” like some of the issues in that other thread seem to end up with, for me. It is more of an annoyance rather than anything else since I can start up the game rather quickly and easily

I got a similar issue.. my game randomly crashes or freezes several times per day…

Before HoT it was really really rare that anything would happen the game , but since HoT patch my game crashed/froze at least 5 times (in less than 2 days)…

3 times it pop the porort window where it asks you if yo uwant to send the crash report to anet…
the other 2 times i straight up froze (“gw2 stopped working; press here to close” window)

I dont know what is up but HoT really fkd something up in the client for me…

Look at how effective someone is in a full Soldiers set.
Look at how effective someone is in a full Dire set.
Nice balance.

essentially, there seems to be a memory leak issue.

Don’t worry about 32- or 64-bit. 4 gig of memory should be fine, but I did a quick test and GW2 takes 2 gig memory. Now that is not in a high volume area, I just logged in and took a quick look. You may want to look at what other applications are running at the same time. For me, I hit 4.2 gig, but I have outlook and 4 Chrome windows open, plus some utility software. My machine has 8 gig so it doesnt bother my computer. Like another poster stated, logging on you won’t need that much. Even at the character screen it was just another couple of hundred mb, but when I went in, thats when it all started. And, now that i think about it, I have a 1 gb hd as well, so that probably helps some.

At this point i can’t even stay in the game long enough to pass the first HoT mission, which means i can’t unlock masteries or play any of the new map content

EDIT: Also can’t play more than 1 complete match of sPvP without the client crashing (on lowest settings), which has never happened before (on medium settings)

I have 64 bit win 7 installed, every 50-90 minutes I CTD. The bug report states this is a OOM related error. I have 9 gigs of ram so that should not be an issue. I will list the details next time it crashes which should be in a little while b/c it will crash without fail. I have only the windows anti virus with real time protection on, nvidia experience, real tech audio manager, steam, and bnet browser as third party apps running. I need to know if this OOM error is b/c of me or them. It looks like a mem leak of some sort.

It was predicted. It happened. Crashing, too many people and game unplayable. Too bad. I was really curious about the Halloween event. I’ll sort my screenshots in the meantime.

I’m getting the OOM crashes too. Not as quickly as some here, but this has been introduced after a recent patch post HoT launch.

Definitely something wrong. “We are confident’” and blaming 3rd party software isn’t going to cut it as an excuse.

I solved my problem since crash was activated because of this file: Module: LavasoftTcpService.dll
I used this topic for help for me was enough to install DelFix.
https://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?/topic/174340-lavasofttcpservicedll-error/

Just try download and repair – for me it was enough.

2 days further on and a number of rebuild patches applied yet still getting a max of 4 minutes play. As others have said, blaming 3rd party programmes, outdated drivers etc just doesn’t cut it.

It is simply lazy programming and testing by the game developers.

The problem fixed for me.

  1. Turn OFF you Modem and Switch ( if use )
  2. Wait 10 mins.
  3. turn ON all.
  4. Just Info, make a new shortcut ( Like this: I:\Guildwars2\Gw2.exe -maploadinfo

This is simple.

###

  1. error: File: ..\..\..\Engine\Model\Model.cpp ( i think that my game CANT load this, so the problem is internet conection or server. )

We are pretty confident these patching crashes have to do with 3rd party software (such as malware, antivirus, and proxies) hooking into the Winsock API.

This Microsoft KB article explains how to reset TCP/IP:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/299357

Please let us know if this does not solve the problem.

This did not solve my problem as I am still getting frequent crashes. Just for giggles I re downloaded a fresh download of GW2 HOT, and I’m still getting the crashing.

My drivers are updated and I was having no problems playing until I downloaded the expansion.

Having the same problem, been crashing ALOT since HoT was released. Especially on the new maps, on large world events or if I fool around in LA for about 30min or so.

Your pretty confident your patches aren’t working, before the HOT release I never crashed now it’s so constant I can’t even play the game. Why purchase an expansion if I can’t play more the 5 minutes at a time cause it keeps crashing.

Here is your crash log that I’ve sent more than 100 times to ya’ll. Please fix!

Its sad, same to me, when i log in i cant play because game keep crash in 5 sec. Now new content is UP, was a bit expensive and i cant PLAY. I got this message saying “Must be you connection or firewall” even when firewall is on stop and -DIAG dont show a big packege loss.

And yeah all my drivers are updated.

Please guys fix this !!! Even windows is a 3rd party program.

I’m getting the OOM crashes too. Not as quickly as some here, but this has been introduced after a recent patch post HoT launch.

Definitely something wrong. “We are confident’” and blaming 3rd party software isn’t going to cut it as an excuse.

It’s not an excuse if the game was happily working with 3rd party software before HoT, and now isn’t, clearly that shows the problem was introduced with HoT.

I get CTDs every 50-90 minutes constantly.

I will be playing any where and then game just crashes. I only have win defender with real time scan on, nvidia control panel, and Real Tech audio as third party apps running in the back ground. All my other games do not crash.

I have no idea what this crash report means so I need to know if this on Anets end or mine. I’d like to play and not crash, so any help would be appreciated. thank you.

Game still crashing every 1-2 hours….. Is anyone even working on this issue?

Look at how effective someone is in a full Soldiers set.
Look at how effective someone is in a full Dire set.
Nice balance.

The game just released it can be assumed they they are working on a variety of issues. Some of us still can’t get into the game period. Patience is a virtue.

Agreed. What worries me though is that Anet mentions I should turn down the graphics (done) and I shouldn’t use 3rd party software (checked using their methods: not the case). However, I still crash, and I’m worried that the statement released by Anet means that they consider it to not be an issue on their side. A (relatively) simple “We will be looking into this” would go a long way.

Deffo an issue regarding Nvidia cards with more than 3.5gb Vram, the memory leak is insane.

AMD cards are still affected with anything over 4gb, system memory runs out slower since the last patch, but its getting annoying now.

I hope you have an ’all you can drink; coffee policy in your work place…

Godspeed dear devs.

gravity is my arch-nemesis.

Well. The game is just unplayable for me right now. And I’m wondering, I’ve had (I think) over 300 of crashes in the past and always sent the report away. It has never been fixed, and I learned to live with it to just play on the lowest graphics in ‘danger zones’. But ever since HoT it just became 100 times worse, and I have a crash every minute. (I usually stop playing after my 10th crash)…

I don’t have the logs here, but I’ll post one as soon as it happens again (currently at work so can’t play). But it surprises me that ANet still didn’t fix the issue itself. My computer could run World of Warcraft, Age of Wonders III, Aion, Warhammer Online, Heroes of Newerth, Hearthstone and Diablo III all without issues in medium/high graphic settings. It’s a shame, and quite a problematic thing that the game I like the most (GW2) is unplayable for me EVEN with graphics on LOW. IT shocks me that ANet still didn’t fix this issue after my 300 crash reports already… And I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one with this problem.

- Unable to play GW2 properly ever since HoT launched because of crashing the minute I login…

Yes I’ve had a few random rashes recently, and it used to never ever crash.

Just crashes for no particular reason, sometimes get the send crash report message, sometimes a hard reset lockup, it varies.

Jumping puzzles, love them or hate them, I hate them. Thread killer.

The game just released it can be assumed they they are working on a variety of issues. Some of us still can’t get into the game period. Patience is a virtue.

I’ve been having frequent crashes (if graphics are not on ‘low’) ever since GW2 beta, 3 years ago. They were like every 15min in busy zones and every hour in empty zones.
Now the problem is that the frequency became every 30seconds in busy zones (or even in the map loading screen already), but luckily still every hour in the empty zones.

So it became worse with HoT, but the problem has always been there already.
My patience has been going on for years already, since I’ve been reporting all my crashes immediatelly, but never found something like a fix online before.

It worries me that all other games I play or have played, work very smooth on my computer, but GW2 is having serious issues. It worries me the most, that during all those years, and now at it’s peak right after HoT I have no indication that they’re working on the problem or even getting close to fixing it. I’m not confident that this will be over soon, even though I love GW2 and the expansion content.

I’d wish I could start playing again soon, but I really have no hope left because I feel like the crash reports aren’t even being read at all.

- Unable to play GW2 properly ever since HoT launched because of crashing the minute I login…

Wow, this time I was able to play over 1 minute in Verdant Brink. Improvement!
But here’s a log… one out of many.

—> Crash <—
OOM: Heap, bytes=3478188,

Have you all your graphics set to max ? Try to set character model limit and
quality to medium.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

Nope. As I said, I have every graphic or apperearance setting set to the lowest possible.
I basically set the game graphic settings to “Best Performance”, rather than “Auto” or “Best Appearance”.

I made a thread here with my information and crash logs, but wanted to chime in and say that my crashes have been constant during heavy events, like boss battles, bUT only since HoT. I can’t make it through a single event without crashing at least once…

Below is the thread with all my information and logs.

If I had 1g for every time I encountered one of these in the past WEEK, even occasionally months prior only worsening come HoT, then I’d be rich. Legit.

Yes I am fully aware of the current thread open “Pact Mastery – AutoLoot can cause crashes” …

source: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/Pact-Mastery-AutoLoot-can-cause-crashes

… yet I’ve had this particular error SO. MANY. TIMES. in the past few months and it’s the most irritating thing. Yes I send through the report then start up my game and boom again same thing shortly after in the day.

Now post HoT (prior obtaining Pact Mastery auto loot) I kept getting this game crash about 4 times throughout the day in WvW. This is where I’m very annoyed because it’s not my internet as everything else worked fine during those times. No other programs open; just playing GW2. (Yepp I’m 100% FINE on max settings etc if that helps) … exact same problem occurs on lowest settings.

It is the worst thing ever.

Does anyone know a solution or is experiencing similar issues?

Attached picture of what the error looks like (upon sending a report in)…

… I legit crashed over 10 times during the span of Jungle Wurm -> Shadow Behemoth -> Golem Mark II world bosses, that was WITH pact mastery auto loot but jeeeeeze I feel like I can’t even log into the game without it happening again within 2 mins.

EDIT: added pic of what the actual error looks like BEFORE sending a report.

I been having the same problem since awhile back a update caused the problem for me. I had it ever since, but now with HoT; it’s really worse. I can’t even be in a dungeon or WvW or even out in open world with this happening everyone 2-20minutes for me.
This problem will start making people quit GW2 if this keeps up.

Likewise, but the game was very stable for me prior to HoT launch. 100% world completion on one char, 3 chars to 80 in EotM, dozens of world bosses with full maps and not a single ctd over the course of the last month. Now the game keeps crashing on a hourly basis, esp. in zergy environments like EotM, which is maddening because every single crash can cost you 10 minutes or more because of how difficult it can be to catch up with the com-train.

I was not aware of the pact auto loot problem. But I sure am know. I just finished that mastery line. Immediately started having crash problems. Crashed 6 times. In less than 10 min. I tried a different pc and it was even worse on that one. Wouldn’t even load a character without crashing.

Sorry here is another one. This is one that was caused by the Pact Mastery auto loot bug.

But this is the EXACT SAME problem that’s been happening months prior on an often basis for me and it is so puzzling.

I have not bought HoT and don’t plan to yet.
The halloween stuff may also be affecting this game.

I was just standing in Lions Arch and then I went into a treasure door for event and game crashed.
I have suffered 7 crashes since last night while playing with friends and doing boss battles.
Please get a fix for these crashes or I’m leaving this boring game.Yes I said boring.
Only reason I play this game is cause I know others that do.
I would like to add I redownloaded this game last night after all my crashes.

OSVersion: Windows 6.1 (32 bit)

Your main problem is you still use ancient 32-Bit Windows that can only handle
2 GB of memory per application. The only real fix would be to install a 64-Bit version.

Else you can only set down all your graphics settings to minimum and look if that helps.

Same thing applies to you.

I made a thread here with my information and crash logs, but wanted to chime in and say that my crashes have been constant during heavy events, like boss battles, bUT only since HoT. I can’t make it through a single event without crashing at least once…

Below is the thread with all my information and logs.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/Constantly-crashing-during-bosses-since-HoT/first#post5659489

I suppose we have the same issue then. Even though it’s kitten for you, it comforts me that I’m not the only one. I hope this will make ANet find a fix faster.
Altough I would really like to get some response from ANet to atleast know if they’re looking into this at the moment or not.

- Unable to play GW2 properly ever since HoT launched because of crashing the minute I login…

The game client itself is 32bit. Going to 64 bit windows client doesn’t magically fix anything, the application itself will only be capable of using so much RAM 2GB native or 4GB if using large space (gw2 is LAA so it’s 4GB~ max).. If it is trying to use more they need to either change the client to 64bit which can use more or manage their 2-4GB memory better and flush old crap out but this is going to make it more laggy since you could be reloading stuff a lot over and over again in RAM.

I am still surprised the client still is 32-bit only. A lot of games these days offer a 64 bit client now and that would probably help a lot of things out, performance related. I am guessing whatever engine they’re built ontop of it’s probably 32-bit only and would take too much to change.

Oh .. i just see you still have 32-Bit OS .. that is the real problem.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

2 GB or 4 GB is still a big different. I remember EQ2 already had problem with
the big zones they invented in Rise of Kunark 8 years ago. And later when i
played Age of Conan i bought 64-Bit Vista to get rid of constant crashes.

So yes .. it will magically fix a lot .. however there are still problems under
64-Bit Windows when character limit and quality is set to max in big zergs.

Guys… Guys…. This is a client problem … not a windows version problem. I have seen PLENTY of people posting in the last day or so that already have windows 64 bit with pc’s that would make nasa jealous that are getting the crashes as well. The game is unplayable for many and will remain so until they fix it.

This may be the time for the people that cant play to start demanding a fix or a refund for not only the expansion, but also the core game, since it is no longer playable.

For the support team to start spouting that you need to upgrade from windows 32 bit to winows 64 bit, there is no other fix (like a few have said that they replied to thier support tickets) is just unacceptable.

I can play.. my wife cant. It is a client issue. Running the repair tool, reinstalling etc.. does nothing. We never had a problem before these patches.. and she cant play after them.

I have crashed myself, with the bounchy chest bug in the new zones etc, but for those there is a work around (set your UI to normal and you wont crash) for the rest there isnt… yet.

There is also bugs in zone terrain that boot you, auto loot will cause you to crash etc.. so just be patient for another day or so.. and lets not get into a kittening match about whos pc is the best or what windows version is best..

If they have a 32 bit client.. then they support windows 32 bit and will eventually fix it… if they dont then they can start dipping into pocket and start refunding peoples money for a defective product.
