I understand where you’re coming from, but no one is forcing you to buy gems. If you really want the outfit but refuse to buy gems, there’s an in-game currency exchange sitting in wait for you.
Wolfheart had it right. I used to purchase about 1600 gems a month (give or take, depending on what’s offered). So instead of buying gems with cash, I’d probably revert to converting gold for that, which means that they have lost bussiness. Not a lot, I know – $10 won’t even appear on their radar, but given time and more players getting on board with this they will face the issue. They have shown that they listen only when bottom-line in at stake, like in the gem exchange fiasco. The "custom option didn’t become available because they wanted to, or admitted mistake: it was added because they felt it would hurt their profit. I’m sad that it has come to this, but this – as it seems – is the only way to get their attention as they are reluctant to communicate with us.
Fair enough, I see your point. I’m sure that they wish that they could put out all the stuff on the Gem Store out into the game for free, and perhaps not even have a Gem Store at all. But, they’re doing what they have to do from a business standpoint to survive as a company. Maintaining a big game such as GW2 surely isn’t cheap, and without a monthly sub fee, the Gem Store is the only option. Not ideal, but it’s the hand we’re dealt and I can’t really see ANet changing their standpoint on it.
your missing tons of emotes to do a good film in GW2….
Not necessarily. Look at the Red vs Blue Halo series, the only emotes in those consisted of crouching and subtle body movements.

I’m just gonna keep this short and sweet. Also, I’m not sure if there’s a better forum section to write this is, so feel free to move it if there is.
Guild Wars 2 is a fantastic game, but something it’s missing. In other games (World of Warcraft, League of Legends, RuneScape, Halo, etc) albeit some of a different genre, there’s a big following of video makers who enjoy taking footage from in-game and editing it into something more. I’m not talking someone who buys 1000 rare greatswords and dumps them into the Mystic Forge. I’m talking about people creating something of a story, or (excuse the negative connotations tied to this word) a montage. And this is something that Guild Wars 2 lacks and it’s a shame really. Such a beautiful game is the perfect platform for these kinds of things, but due to the lack of proper support (or even a first-person camera) they don’t exist within the community.
I understand that the devs have other things and implementing something to help out with these kinds of videos is about as far down their list of priorities as possible. But even a first-person camera could help create a sub-community of creative video editors. I doubt something like this will ever come to the game, but it would be fantastic if it did.
I’m quite the nifty person myself (shoutout to my name) and I can confirm that they are infact, nifty.
All of the other things, too. ;~)
Heyo friends. I’m a laid back, filthy casual and I’m looking for a guild to make the game feel not as empty. Normally a solo player, so this is a little new to me. I’m currently a full-time college student so I’m not going to be able to be on all of the time. I’m on Borlis Pass and I main Elementalist, so if your guild is recruiting then feel free to add me, I don’t bite. Unless you ask me to.
So before I get started, I just want to put it out there that I absolutely love both the Zephyr Sanctum and the Crown Pavilion. I think both were fantastic updates.
Putting that aside, however, what makes me sad is the inclusion of the merchant that sells things such as the Horns of the Dragon skins, Gas Mask skin, Slickpack, Karka shell backpack, etc etc, all things from previous Living Story updates. All of these items hold a certain value and uniqueness to them because you know that once the patch goes away that the only ones that will ever be in the game were the ones that people received during the patch. But with the introduction of this merchant, it takes that feeling away and now it just feels like another item that everyone has access to.
This may only be me, but this is just one of those things that makes me say ehh.

As an Elementalist, you can use two different things to make you invulnerable while finishing, which WILL work for her. The #5 skill on focus in earth attunement makes you invulnerable and you can stomp with it. You can also start the stomp animation and pop Mist Form and get the same effect.
I hate to be a downer of sorts, but some of these have absolutely no chance of being a playable race.
1) Centaur: They can’t swim. Nothing more that needs to be said.
For the umpteenth time, horses can swim, from birth in fact. Swimming is even used as a training tool for race horses and was once a method for breaking wild horses.
The only reason centaurs do not swim in game because they have no swimming animation. Something shared with quite a few NPC races, and easily rectified in this case, as horses swim almost exactly like they walk. Which if you think about it is probably why they can swim from birth in the first place.
I can understand the whole thing about no swimming animation, but as far as I’m concerned, if Centaurs were supposed to swim they would have an animation for it. Considering the fact that they’re a massive part of the early level areas, I can’t see why they wouldn’t have a swimming animation if they are supposed to be able to.
The real question is: Who was that narrator? Normally, the person speaking in these trailers is a character.

1) Centaur: They can’t swim. Nothing more that needs to be said.
2) Hylek, Skritt: I group these together because they’re both very primitive races. Sure, you have little pockets of them here and there, but nothing on the level of what would be required of a playable race, in my opinion.
3) Krait: Their model doesn’t fit (they would have no use for boots/leggings) and they’re an enemy race. No matter where you go, Krait will attack you. People may try to reason and say that there could be some form of “peace treaty” between them and the other races, but let’s be honest, the chances of that happening are EXTREMELY unlikely. This saddens me, however, because the Krait are pretty interesting when it comes to their lore.
4) Quaggan: I wish oh so dearly that it was possible, because I think it would be absolutely hilarious to run around with a Quaggan thief heartseeking everything in sight. However, they’ve very much so been established as an NPC race and it looks set to stay that way.
5) Margonite: Again, something that I wish was possible but according to lore isn’t. Margonites are nothing more than humans that have been transformed into some sort of demon, and the only way to create more Margonites is to transform more humans. Perhaps Arenanet could do something cool to make this possible, but sadly I can’t see it happening.
6) Dwarves: While they may still be around within the depths of Tyria, fending off the Destroyers, Arenanet have come out and said that they’re steering away from the cliche MMO races. Yet another thing that could in theory be possible, but unlikely based on things that have been said by Arenanet.
That was a mouthful. Or fingerful, I’m not sure. However, as much as I think it’d be cool to mess around with some of these races in character creation and in-game, I can’t see it being done. The three races in my opinion that have the biggest chance of becoming playable are the Tengu, Largos, and Kodan. More so the first two, but I think Kodan is also a possibility. Plus, I think it’d be pretty cool to run around smashing things as a Coca-Cola bear.
An interesting theory, but I can’t see it happening. Perhaps after the fourth patch we’ll have a fresh batch of permanent content, but content on an expansion-sized level seems very unlikely.
They’ve already said that it ISN’T dragon related. So, nope
That the Scarlett patches aren’t dragon related, or the Tequatl patch? Thank you for your reply, though!
When I put my UI on small (which is what I greatly prefer compared to anything else) and open up the Trading Post, the text merges together and makes it extremely hard to read. My game’s set at 1920×1080. This is extremely aggravating as I have to go into the settings and adjust my UI every single time that I want to use the TP.
