Human male Daredevil animations

I completely agree with everything you said. Specially weakening charge, that animation looks like a place holder animation before you make the good one. It’s the elementalists air focus ability slowed down and sliding the character forward…. very poor animation.

Lotus training is also a very bad one. Paying close attention they are throwing their body from left to right but the right leg is the one thats bent? what wait….its just very unnatural for a human flip.

The asura have the best lotus training animation though in my opinion but even it has a problem of ending the animation like half a frame way to early and feels cheapened. Here’s to hoping one day they adjust it to be more “fluid”. Cheers.

Engineer Weapon Kits Backpacks bug?

It wasn’t so much the removal of the backpacks that was bad but rather the introduction of the oversized two handed bomb (bomb kit) and the onion man (grenade kit). Those two completely ruined the kits for me, and I haven’t played engi much since.

Me too, specially the bomb kit. Its soooooo ugly and dumb looking now holding what looks like a pie? Such a shame too I used to love it. :/

GW2 Animations, where we started to now

So I was remembering the original trailers for all the classes for gw2 and thought how much I enjoyed them. Here is a video someone compiled of them for all those who wasn’t with us from the start when gw2 was coming out.

https://youtu.be/anpHAUe0Ni8

It made me think how fun it is to look back and compare to what we have now. What saddens me though mostly is how some skills and animations are completely gone that added little bits of flavor like the guardian idle stance with the mace and shield jumping like that or some of the necro and mesmur skills looking way more interesting imo.

I love how the camera angles prove that great cinematography can add so much to a scene that seems sorta mundane to me now in game. It looks way more epic in the trailers naturally but its still the same game after all! Point of view wow such amaze.

Berserker's Wild Blow

A bitz.3825

I’m not sure about the other races animation for berserkers “wild blow” but for humans it’s anything but “wild”. I’m sorry to everyone who adores this really generic animation for an attack but I’d like to at least put it out there that maybe, can we get a new animation that might actually be a “wild” motion?

I’m honestly not sure what they were going for? a fist smash to the ground? its more of a awkward placing a flag in the floor motion. I feel like its a generic animation used for something else in game but I’m not sure what. I really wanted something abit more energetic.

Again sorry to those who like it, more then likely nothing will change but it’s just a annoyance I had to vent out. Xpac, I want more glamor xD

Unless you are part of their team that was responsible for the page that says (core game comes with xpac) we as of now do not have 100% proof that they meant to say the core game is a “bonus” for buying the xpac. That the expansion on it’s own is worth 50$.

Personally, I don’t think it is. They probably do though. It might have been a programming nightmare to do the things it offers using the system they have in place.

I’ll wait for a sale when I think it’s reasonable and spend my time and money else where.

I won’t be buying the expansion for 50$ as well and will just have to be patient and hope it gets a release of it’s own or a large sale a year after it’s been around. It really is a terrible deal to existing players, you are buying a second copy of a game you already own with no bonuses attached(standard one). Better to start a new account with such a deal.

I’m placing my bets on another mmo instead, which is starting its last closed beta next week for 20 bucks. If it’s good I think that’s where Ill stay and maybe pop back to check gw2 if the xpac gets released as a add on.

20 bucks for a closed beta? Now THAT my friend, is a sham.

It very well could be. If it doesn’t meet up to my interests, I could wait for launch since it’ll be free to play but this game looks so cool to me and has a lot of features I think I’ll enjoy. It’s a risk I’m willing to take based on its style.

GW2 on the other hand is something I know inside and out and it’s style has become stale. The xpac in my eyes is not worth the deal they are offering. When (if) it is I will return for sure because gw2 is still a good game just abit old now graphically as far as the character models and clothing dynamics.

I don’t want to support that deal as it is.

Is this update a opportunity to let us reselect AP items? Or could the new system support the idea that was tossed around of letting us select the armor pieces we want in a order we’d like? Just like the weapons.

As a casual player I’ll probably never get a hold of those leggings in the games life span for me personally. I hold out hope for this idea on reevaluating the AP system stuff.

Dervish the Next Class?

I think the new class would revolve around the new mechanics they keep taunting us with on the various npcs we keep seeing in living story modifiyed for normal gameplay.

So it could be a zephyrite. We have seen unarmed combat from the lightening master, the wind master has some new skills aswell. Idk stuff that they do.

Trouble would be how to make it different from a elementalist with different elemental spells. But the zepherites people have a good excuse to give it to players lorewise I think when everythings done.

Expansion Woes

A bitz.3825

A portion of the player base seems to be absolutely starving for content in gw2. It’s really clear in the forums, and I’m not helping it at all by mentioning the sacred word that is “expansion” but oh my goodness what will happen to the community if one roles around with the typical stuff in it.

My inner hipster will die on this one. If it’s only ONE new class? We’ll have to rename the game Insert class name Wars 2. You can be certain that will be almost the only thing being played. Which is understandable, I’m desperate to play with new skills too but yikes it’ll be really funny in wvw with whole zergs as practically one class. Itll be that way for an extremely long time aswell in my opinion due to keeping a player base so starved for so long for something new to play. Id bet it’d be the fad for just as long as they been waiting for that content.

If it’s only new skills for each class might aswell consider all the old skills deleted for a large portion of the playerbase. Its fine but I believe that’s going to happen harder then usual because once again when you leave someone starving for so long they end up eating like a crazy monster when they actully get around to some food.

Expanded area’s, anything will completely dominate any of the old content they tried so hard to build on. How can they avoid this? Should they avoid this? Are these things happening to a community “bad”? If cursed shore was abandonded but the new area is great I guess thats ok right? So what everyones the same class, we would still win battles as usual right?

I’m curious really, can an expansion so late in the game be harmful to the community in anyway?

RP in a MMO

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: A bitz.3825

A bitz.3825

Basically RP goes like this.

1. You’ve created your own story that you want everyone to care about.
2. Everyone else has done the same, and they want you to care about their stories.
3. You try to earn brownie points by pretending you care about their stories, or by throwing in game lore.
4. Nobody really listens to your story because they are too busy waiting for the next chance to jump in with their own.
5. You find you’re doing the same thing.

Otherwise there’s nothing icky about it. The hatred and ignorance toward it is completely uncalled for.

This sums it up pretty good. Though sometimes I end up actually caring about the other persons character. Sometimes. So I figure it’s the same for them.

The point of the OP isn’t about whether a particular build is good or not. It’s about how others deal with being in a group with a non-meta build or playstyle. I’m not sure why people expect PUGs to play a certain way; the beauty (and the horror) of PUGs is that anything can happen (and often does).

If you can’t stand it when people behave randomly, why join a random group of people? Seems like a recipe for frustration.

This is it really. Thank you for putting it out so clearly. I always place in my party messages what I am looking for, if no message its free game for everyone imo.

I like how rifles look, way cooler then the bow. Skills are more fun to use to me. So I have to be clear with my messages so I don’t end up with people who dislike my view on whats fun.

Just as much as they would hate to join me for not being optimal, I wouldn’t want to join them for being so strict either in a video game. It’s the only way to try and keep a positive experience for yourself.

Very good combat system

This isn’t a reply to say PSO2 is better then gw2 combat but I really like this discussion and I’d like to understand what is happening between these 2 games. Frankly I seriously enjoyed PSO2’s combat but gw2 is essentially doing the same thing is it not?

Example of Phantasy Star Online 2 Combat:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkuwP7HyR-E

She is locked on target much like we tab target something and dodging accordingly albeit at a much higher frequency and style. But it’s still similar?

I’m having so much trouble discerning why PSO2’s combat is different because I love it so much more esthetically visually but I still like gw2!

Maybe someone can point it out to me so I can explain it to friends without so much bias xD

[Suggestion] Mounts?

I like using the broom mount as it is. Add more stuff like that no speed boost data required and you get your mount.

I don’t understand all the debate. People want mounts so bad but aren’t satisfied with getting exactly that?

I thought they just wanted to watch their character not run everywhere, just a different visual for moving around. Sounds fun to me. Anet will make the right choices.

[Suggestions] Gemstore Items

TL ; DR

  • Sell different animations / stances for each weapon* and different idle stances, basicly let us buy and replace animations for gems .they wouldn’t be too hard to introduce and some of the animations are already ingame like the female greatsword running animation

Oh I would LOVE this kind of stuff. Things that add more customization always a huge boon to any MMO. Aion had some new running and dodge animations that were so awsome I’d love the same sorta thing in guild wars.

It would need a new UI though to implement an option somewhere to toggle these animation presets on or off and has a slew of other restrictions that’d have to be taken account for (like a new system to implement)so it’d be a huge task if it wasn’t pre planned for the game

I’d buy power customization packs too but then you will hear all the pvpers cry that they can’t tell blue fire from a guardian apart from fire from a warrior or some other rather lame excuse that I am not going to debate. I’d love a emerald colored mesmur power set.

This topic comes up time and time again after awhile and it’s good that it does so that it still warrents attention. I’d buy SO much gems just for town clothes to be used in combat. It’s a huge missed money opportunity for anet I don’t understand.

Till then I’d never consider buying them. If we can have longbows that shoot unicorns and rainbows we should be able to wear town clothes in combat too.

Elitism is ruining this game

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: A bitz.3825

A bitz.3825

This is one of the most generic threads i’ve ever read considering it applies to every game, activity and whatnot u will ever experience both IRL and virtual.

It’s like complaining about being human..same thing.

Thank you nailed it pretty good for me but I want to elaborate.

I am against alienating new players or casual players in a virtual universe. So I disagree that “hardcore” players should be rewarded for being able to PLAY more or in gw 2 case think that knowing when to dodge an enemy attack is a very deep and complicated combat system worthy of reward.

Defiantly not in my opinion, this is why guild wars is so appealing for casual players. I am elitist towards elitists just for the simple fact that they are not nice to everyone. I am aware how hypocritical I am since frankly I am disrespectful towards them, I should be more tolerant but I can’t not yet anyway.

They don’t let people join them because of whatever reason? It’s a video game, it’s not real you won’t die in real life if you fail.

The popular response is "it’s my time, what’s fun to me isn’t fun for you. In order for me to be having fun I require these items..* and here the list begins with all our personal if’s and buts. The elitist crowds “ifs and buts” are simply overall much more annoying to the average person I’d bet on.

Personally I find it disgusting to ever conceive the idea that it’s “fun” to not let someone join in on your party just because of what they are wearing or their class. As long as they are “insert my if’s and buts” nice and respectful/accepting then regardless if we win or lose it’ll be a time worth sharing. So which sounds nicer from the two as far as marketing a online multiplayer game?

“You can’t come with us “boots/kicks you”*whispers to own guild their reasons" or worse flat out saying it to their face (lol class). Or “sure bring what you like we can figure it out/we can help you together”.

Elitism really does ruin any game doesn’t it. Hopefully the world trends will fall more for the later and not be so bitter like I am towards people who go against “nicer” beliefs. Not saying the OP is that extreme of a elitist but if you are good riddance.

I am elitist to “bad” elitists for life. “Kicks high horse and gallops off” lol tl:dr? TRY your best to be nice/accepting to your fellow players with the benefit of the doubt. Something I can’t do to good when one end gets to nasty. And the issues recycle. But the quote says it all lol

I suppose I’ll join in on this. Honestly I forget the purpose of threads like this but looking over other players characters defiantly helps with armor combo’s you may have missed.

My first is Witchy Bon, she’s a elementalist that’s supposed to look like she’s wearing a lab scientist sorta thing. She’s crazy about alchemy. It seems practical I think, maybe not exactly for combat but it’s roomy enough for it.

Oh this is so cool thank you for sharing!. I hope they expand on ths sort of team work ability. How cool that could be! It encourges same classes to play with each other it could even mix it up with like 10 mesmurs and 10 guardians have to cast like reflect spells together to create a super reflect barrier or somthing.

Lol obviously would need to be worked out or just small things for fun happening would be cool like this wolf thing. At character creation if 5 humans who started with the noble story line and all do the emote /laugh a small money effect happens or somthing lol idk. Really cool! xD

Small dream patch

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: A bitz.3825

A bitz.3825

I will say guild wars 2 is a solid game. Though if I could have a update patch like below I’d probably enjoy it a whole lot more and I’d stick around longer. Which is irreverent because they already got my purchase, I can leave and it wouldn’t make a difference being free to play after that.

Trouble is a patch like this would probably make players that are all about min/maxing would stop playing the game as much since it’s a lot more free to deck out your characters. But keeps players like me who enjoy the creation aspect of the game a tad more.

Though not being a subscription based game it seems odd to try and get players to stick around with “farming” techniques rather then applying updates that are more about enjoying the content that’s their more easily in my opinion.

Cosmetic Updates:
*All soul bound on equip weapons/armor are now account bound on equip.
*Transmuting an item makes it account bound instead of soul bound. (Account bound items cannot be sold like soul bound when it’s used)

*All armor types can be transmuted to look like any armor. Armor stats stay the same between the classes. (Might need to restrict it to only pve to stop the players from overreacting to not being able to tell an enemy factions class without highlighting them and seeing the class symbol. Or in WvW make enemy factions appear in default class pvp outfit if they don’t do that already…I seriously never noticed.)

*Town clothes can be transmuted to armor. (leg pieces to legs pieces ect.)
(I’d spend on gems like crazy if they could be worn in combat, but they are completly useless as simple town clothes. Since most of the game you play in combat, a money grab missed again for some reason by anet)

*Added a vendor that sells starting equipment pieces/accessories and town clothes in each city hub. (with karma?)

I can dream at least. Character customization is defiantly where I get my fun from the game, to make it easier would be wonderful.

I highly doubt actual mounts would be implamented since it’d destroy the whole waypoint system if they actually gave speed boost.

But I’d say it’s a safe bet they might add mounts in the unconventional sense like the witch broom, through “toys”.

It’d be a one two dirty punch if they did, I hate town clothes for how useless it is since you can’t wear it for the majority of the gameplay (combat) but it’d be a balanced way to introduce them wouldn’t it?

7 months later still no LFG search

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: A bitz.3825

A bitz.3825

LFG website is for people who lack the courtesy to socialize in-game. A LFG tool is extremely discriminatory. It fosters the notion that you are in the game for others to use to fill a role.

Socializing is hard, but it needs to be encouraged otherwise we are just bunch brats with each other when we don’t get what we want.

Sorry we don’t all enjoy siting in LA for 4 hours getting message suppressed trying to spam LFG

I know right I’d like to use my posts to vent alil since they really have no barring.

Specially trying to form a group fast enough before players start abandoning your group is troublesome in itself. On top of some dungeons not being popular just trying to enlist players to do something you’d like to do is quite the chore for the leader.

I would absolutly love gw2 if it had a queue system to take some of the headache away. Queue/play while you wait. Genius for the casual and PuG (pick up group) players. It’s quite simple, if you want something from a dungeon you got to form it yourself but it’s not always an enjoyable process as leader. Pleeeease ANet if you read these posts it’d be fantastic.

P.S. I’m not interested in those of you who say you are in a guild, to go get a guild or those who have had miraculous luck in forming groups quickly. It simply has not been the case for me and guilds is a whole other ball game of mystery guests that you may shoot yourself in the foot for deciding to join them randomly.

At least in a PuG it’s not so… lasting that you would have to continuously deal with the same players encase you do have bad apples for your tastes. I also do not mean just flat out arguing with other players, some people you just end up not liking to be around and do not care for anything they have to say and that’s normal.

Being in that guild would cause some issues for me because I can’t flat out ignore someone to get out of their presence without everyone else jumping on you. Double edged sword for me always.

My attitude leans towards having fun with everyone and making that process easier is always good. To say NO to having a easier system for players to meet up and play together sounds silly in a MMO. More options always trumps none.
