So. Is anyone satisfied with the actual revelation?

The resurrected "Lazarus" is in fact Abaddon?

I’ve been genuinely waiting for someone to post this thread. Let’s get into this!

Right after I completed Head of the Snake on the day of its release, I immediately jumped to the same conclusion: That whoever absorbed the magical explosion that could have potentially destroyed half of the continent, definitely was not a Mursaat, nor a Mantle, but someone with access to the very same knowledge the Seer, Abaddon, and the rest of the original Six had used when creating/learning about/realeasing magic from/shattering the Bloodstone.

Even the resurrected “Lazarus” talks about the White Mantle as if they were inferior creatures having no idea how to use the Bloodstones (“misguided White Mantle tinkering”), and now we know that he is not actually Lazarus. So who is he?

Since the release of GW2, there has been quite a few references to Abaddon, the God of Knowledge and Secrets. Back in 1326, Evon campaigned with an Abaddon fractal (to uncover the true story behind his fall!), and the Priory itself honors Abaddon by keeping a statue of him in their secret archives. What if Arenanet is actually considering bringing back that story in a way? What if, in fact, the original Pantheon of Six were warned by the Forgotten/Seers about the Elder Dragons, but Abaddon was the only one who cared to stop them? He probably spent countless hours studying the Bloodstone and learning the secrets of Tyria, and we don’t know what were his real intentions when he sourced back magic to Tyria. Maybe he saw the danger the elder dragons posed and he wanted to challenge them, but the other Five were afraid of “losing their divinity” in the eyes of their worshippers if it turned out they were not, in fact, almighty deities? What if, after his body was destroyed in his realm of inasnity, his spirit somehow survived, but imprisoned (guess where)?

A lot of questions can be asked, and we can theorycraft all day, but I am going to agree with the OP and suggest that “Lazarus” could be Abaddon. Or, my second guess, a certain someone who had enough time on their plate to study ancient Orrian magic (the same kind Vizier Khilbron studied), and learn how to absorb an entire bloodstone explosion.

Sidenote #1: Kormir absorbed the magic of Abaddon from his destroyed body. We do not, in fact know, if she absorbed Abaddon in his entirety.
Sidenote #2: Abaddon literally lacked a personality in GW: Nightfall. When we faced him, he had no voice, no personality. It would be a cop out, yeah, but Anet could actually say his soul wasn’t there.
Sidenote #3: The Forgotten are already gone for good.

Just a small addition: the “e” at the end of Anise is silent.

So, silent e → E?

Don’t even mind me.

I don’t think Anet is going to make the Taimi Ex Machina work again. It’s already been overused, and from a story-telling perspective, she deserves her grand plan to backfire harsh on her. For once, it would be refreshing to see that Taimi-tech is not the omnipotent solution to everything. Plus, the revelation that Lazarus is actually “Lazarus” hints towards an interesting twist in the dragon vs. dragon aspect of the story as well.

Weapon – Armor Clipping Issue

Race: Human
Gender: Male

Issue: Two-handed weapons (tested greatsword and longbow) are heavily clipping into the carapace breastplate while stowed on the back. The exact problem is with node placement on the mesh, which I believe would be relatively easy to correct.

Additional notes: Haven’t noticed the same problem on any other character models, only on human males. Please fix this, as it is very annoying to see larger parts of the weapon clip into the character, especially while running.

Human female left arm twitching issue

I second this. The issue stated -still- persists, and it is very annoying to look at. Broken character models and/or animations are one of the worst possible bugs in games.

Please Fix it. (And if there, please also do consider restoring the original human female idle animations.)

Apologies if I necro’d the thread but instead of making another one on the very same issue, I found it more appropriate to state the concern here.

Fix Fiery Dragon Sword!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Adamixos.6785

Okay, let me edit the thread a bit. I am removing optional suggestion 2. b) as that one is really not popular.

To clarify, 2. a) suggests to simply tone down the flames when the weapon is stowed, so it wouldn’t sink into the ground on Human, Asura, and Sylvari characters.

As for the first suggestion, it simply asks for the removal of the light source effect, again, only when the weapon is stowed. Imo it would go smoothly with suggestion 2. a).

Thanks for the replies so far!

Fix Fiery Dragon Sword!

Hello everyone!

First, allow me to say that the Fiery Dragon Sword from Hall of Monuments is an absolutely fantastic skin, and it has been my favourite weapon in the game ever since seeing it the hands of Ascalonian royalty so many years ago (yeah, I am bit sentimental, and a lore nerd~).

Still, the weapon has one critical issue, a bug if you will. The light source effect and the bright flames look great when the weapon is drawn, so I am not asking to change that, at all. On the other hand, the same effects are very tiresome to look at whilst the sword is stowed. The constant light source is disturbing after a while (it really is weary on the eyes), and the flame effect makes the tip of the blade sink into the ground, ultimately breaking immersion. So, I have a two changes to propose to the devs:

1. Completely remove OR tone down the light source effect of the weapon when it is stowed. I believe it is much better if it only lights up when drawn, just like torches.

2. Completely remove OR tone down the fire effect to a minimal level when the weapon is stowed. In this case, of course, the flames would still ignite when you draw the weapon. It would have that cool lightsaber effect like Rytlock’s Sohothin.

In general, it would be nice if HoM rewards were revisited, especially this sword, which I believe deserves the attention and effort to be fixed.

Thank you for reading, and please do share your opinions!

Guardian Viability in light of Druid Reveal

Mostly a Ranger here. If I could give you Celestial Avatar (its yours thematically) I would in a heart beat.

Guardians signed up to be guardians. Rangers signed up to be rangers. Now look at us

Exactly what I thought, because obviously guardians would like playing ranger-wannabes while rangers love playing guardian-wannabes. ANet’s typical inscrutable logic.

I find it a bit ironic too. It’s like if Irenio and Karl conspired to do a role change between their professions, except that the former came up with a conceptually awesome elite spec, and the latter’s creative juices just weren’t flowing.

But it’s not just Guardian. Maybe except for Daredevil (which, I must add, still has lackluster/glitchy animations), Karl’s elite specs look really bland and boring compared to the others.

I’m already calling it the Avenger for myself and among my friends,
but where did you read that it was initially going to be called that? Link?

I’m in your same boat. A guy said it in the DH feedback [merged] thread. Around page 45 if you care.

It was a speculation tied into a conspiracy theory joke on my part, but yes, I would sign for Avenger too. It’s a nice name that can easily be applied to a more offensive-minded Guardian. Dragonhunter already smells like the shoehorning of the Braham-Eir story into the profession system, so why not call it something that could be literally applied to all Guardian characters, if said story will probably be about Braham avenging his mother? (Again, speculation on my part, but that concept art showing Braham with Eir’s bow is pretty obvious to me.) Thousands of soldiers died when Mordremoth wiped the Pact fleet, tens, and perhaps hundreds of thousands had died because of all the Elder Dragons combined. There are many lives to be avenged.

And even when the dragons and their minions are extinguished, an Avenger will still find a cause, yet a Dragon Hurrdurr will not. Guardians are empowered by their faith, and are driven by purpose. Avengers honor those who have fallen, and bring justice to those responsible for the devastation. As a specilzation, their purpose would be clear.

I gave DH a go with this beta. It plays smooth, and I enjoy it, overall. Even the traps do it quite well for me. However, I cannot stress this enough: “Dragon Hunter”, as a name for this specialization, is completely out of place, and I have also noticed a lack of orientation in the whole concept.

The improved virtues (which I absolutely love!) have a very strong GW1 Paragon feeling, along with most of the skill and trait names, which seem to be in line with the general idea of a “Guardian that is more focused on offense”. Then, we have our respective easter eggs: the elite skill “Dragon’s Maw”, and the trait “Big Game Hunter”. And they really stink to me. The only thing -they- are in line with is the name “Dragon Hunter” itself, but not the rest of the traits and skills.

To me it seems like that somewhere, early in development of this spec., the devs had a great idea for building the longbow gameplay into the profession, but somewhere along the road someone had the thought “Guys, we’re making a game about dragons, we need a class that has dragon in its name.”, and just like that, the ‘high concept’ of the Dragon Hunter was pulled over whatever the dev team had originally, and then wrote that disappointingly poor revelation post a few months back.

Dragon Hunter lacks a theme, it can’t decide if it’s an improved Guardian or a Ranger wannabe. So far, all the other elite specializations have built on their respective professions both mechanically and conceptually, giving us truly unique and likeable results. And whilst the Dragon Hunter definitely succeeds in building on the Guardian mechanically, it utterly fails at doing so conceptually.

I believe that rethinking and adjusting the concept is inevitable. Dragon Hunter is a cheap name and a cheap concept, derogatory to the amazing profession it is trying to build upon.

Instead, go ahead and change it to the Avenger it was originally meant to be, but wasn’t named so because the spec revelation happened to be around the time of the airing of the Avengers movie (fun fact: Dragonhunter was revealed on the same day when the movie aired in Hungary and Poland).

But conspiracy theories aside, I do believe that a name change is in due for DH, whether the new one be Avenger, Sentinel, or whatever else that relates to the core concept of the profession. My personal choice would be Avenger, as apparently naming the elite specs after PvP titles is not an issue either (see: Reaper), and honestly, I can see that name going well with most of the abilities and traits the specialization currently has.

I can confirm this issue. I have been experiencing it ever since the removal of culling in PvE, every single time I log in, and it persists whatever I do, save for party members whose weapons appear sheathed. I’d love this bug to be fixed soon, it breaks immersion as others have stated, as it presents a very disturbing vision.

The Human T2 Heavy Chestpiece Issue

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Adamixos.6785

I have found a quite serious (for me very) issue with Human T2 (Avenger’s) Chestpiece. As much as I love its looks, the deformation it causes on the thickest/most muscular human male body is very disturbing aesthetically.

Let me present this issue using an attached file.

As you can see, the whole triceps part of the arms are cut off. I am pretty sure this is a modelling issue, and I would be very grateful if it could be fixed because despite this issue, I love the armor set, but I feel uncomfortable seeing it on my character. (Really, it messes up those big arms!)
