Yea nice… spent hundreds $$$ on the gems so far without even a kittening precursor to show for it. Good fun gambling, no more gems for me though. Booted on last even as well…

Some people just don’t understand variance. Lets make it simple, don’t care for math use the 10 clover recipe. If your math is above the middle school level use the 1 clover recipe.
It’s speculators vs speculators creating a false demand on the assumption there will be high demand to craft mediocre cooking recipes during the christmas event… The halloween event should be clear a clear indication to the general player base that most of the cooking recipes will be rather dull and I’m willing to bet this demand is for the most part completely speculator driven in the attempt to make some meager profits. The only person that will make any worthwhile profits are the ones who bought thousands of eggs under the radar (as in a full bank storage).
I rarely get credit for kills, especially veterans that I had been attacking from full health to 0.
I’d say that’s half of your problem there… I’m constantly yelling at party members to stop screwing around with the solitary veteran for three minutes while ignoring 20+ mobs that actually drop loot…
I personally like the new DE setup’s as the mobs actually spawn with more health and are a bit tougher EVERYONE actually gets a good chance to tag the mobs now. Still have kitten splitting up spawn locations though because they haven’t figured out
1 – its unecessary
2 – basic math states killing more mobs = more loot so stop hoarding half of them for yourselves like morons.
Love the clock tower and I continue to run it when I need a break from my self inflicted grinding.
OP is clearly an idiot and a beginner level speculator. Buy a bunch of chests at 2-3c and now you’re trying to offload em huh? Good luck with that… anyone that’s played the game for more than a week understands that BL chest keys are a massive bottleneck.
price inflation hasn’t hit my server yet
You realize that the TP is global across the servers right…?
Seriously Anet, the kitten is up with this. Every DE is crammed with so many people that player culling is the norm and the DE’s have become barely doable with the amount of derps splitting up spawn locations. Please kindly unkitten our one decent lvl 80 zone.
This is the first time I’ve experienced player culling outside of WvW… Not even during the three day headstart + release date did it get this bad in the starting zones which had overflow…

Been farming here for over a month, and I swear the constant population has quadrupled…
I’m a long time MMO player, blah blah a lot of us are. Even from my early days of playing I have been a habitual 3rd party gold buyer (read everything I say before you freak out). I have never been banned in any MMO for buying gold even though I have purchased, throughout the years, several thousands of real dollars worth of currency (I’ve done my time, I’ve busted my kitten I’m a contributing member of society, I pay my taxes, provide for my family, and etc. so judge me however you will I really don’t care)
I can say this in all honesty though, since GW2’s original ban-a-palooza stance early on in the game I have literally been terrified to purchase gold. I did it with impunity for years but this is the first game which I haven’t. It’s tempting… Oh so tempting… I could drop a few hundo for several hundreds of gold easy, but I’m afraid to.
What’s worse is the fact that the gem shop in this game offers so little of value to me that I won’t even spend but a fraction of my spending capability there either. While it’s altogether possible that people are buying from 3rd pary sites to purchase gems and inflate the markets, I highly doubt there are as many as you think. I watch the third party sites as well and they’ve made substantial cuts rapidly in their $/gold prices. So we can either assume they aren’t getting enough buyers and they are trying to make gold buying more tempting, they’ve amassed substantial amounts of gold in a relatively short amount of time, or they are being targeted by Anet and trying to mass dump and pull some profit before they get shut down. It’s probably a combination of all three to be honest.
Anet needs to adjust the fee’s associated with gem to gold trading, they need to offer better content in their cash shop, the cash shop needs to be regularly updated… Seriously get with nexon and figure this stuff out anet. While I despise most of nexons games, I’d be ignorant to admit that they are not the kings of the cash shop and anet needs to take some serious notes if they plan to use this model to sustain their company.

You know what I find insane? I can’t sell gems for gold and make a decent profit. Keep on going up gem prices!
And nobody that loses 90% of their HP in one beserker sweep has any business taking up que space in WvW. Some of our phantasms are direct damage dealers, some are AoE’s. Your view reflects what you want to believe just as mine does. ibeserker is no game breaker. In fact I killed a treb up on a wall solo with one yesterday. Even though there were two opponents up on the wall killing my beserkers immediately after each initial sweep it probably took me 12 phantasms and 4 min. just to kill it.
Soooooo game breaking… /sarcasm even though the derps on the wall could of just jumped down and applied pressure while directing my efforts away from the treb…
For someone who never buys gems with gold and always uses cash, I’m quite surprised by your concern for this. The gem market has no immediate affect or bearing on the TP. It’s rather moot to sit here and speculate when you (as you say you do) have cash to purchase gems and contribute to the future development and longevity of the game.
The only thing criminal about the gem market is the fact that I can’t make a decent profit selling gems I purchase with my own hard earned money. In order for that to happen I’m going to need gold to gem prices to triple their current rates.
As far as people hording gems for profit, that’s a completely asinine and idea. http://www.gw2spidy.com/gem
- It would take weeks to see any RoI
- You would need massive quantities to make the profit worthwhile
- Having large quantities of gold tied up for weeks on end would counter the profitability since it’d be more effective in other lucrative investments.
- At any point in time players such as myself could buy massive quantities of gems with cash to dump in the market and kill of any profit potential you may think you’re getting.
Stop pretending that you buy all your gems with cash. Just another freeloader butt hurt over gem prices.

tl;dr version -
I want to sit out of LoS and hit enemies without getting hit myself…
—————————————————————————————————————————————————
Here’s the thing, I see a bunch of eles standing on a wall casting off AoE’s and even though they are clearly visible I can’t hit them with any direct damage attacks. It’s the same kitten concept, except you can hit an ibeserker and kill it rather quickly…
I’m running full exotic beserker gear slotted with ruby orbs while wearing exotic ruby jewellery. I call BS on a single beserker sweep taking 90% of your HP drama queen!
Ibeserker is 100% fine going through LoS just like many other classes ability to AoE without LoS. Cry moar whilst we bathe in your tears.
Your concerns are mainly for yourself and others who want to purchase gem items without making an monetary contribution. Guess what, gems are always the same price for me though, 800 for $10.
Anets gem store is just bad… There’s hardly anything there worth buying and seeing http://www.guildwars2guru.com/news/824-new-items-coming-soon/ leads me to believe that they have no sense of how to properly run a cash shop.
For example:
Permanent Bank Access Contract
Permanent Black Lion Merchant Contract
Permanent Trading Post Pick Up Contract
I know most people would love this but lets be realistic. It’s kinda silly and won’t retain long term revenue (which yes, even you cheapos that don’t want to spend extra, should be concerned about). Why not just 30 day access? I think 30 day passes for these items are perfectly acceptable and would generate (even at cheaper prices than permanent access) much more long term revenue. Or at least offer both, with the 30 day access being considerably cheaper.
Other than that, armor skins are atrocious and there is a complete lack of weapon skins. I want both, I want a constantly updated cash shop that actually facilitates player interest and drives up gem/gold sales to a proper level.
Lets see, I can sell my 8,000 gems for 29.2 gold roughly… Or you can spend the $100 at a gold seller site and get roughly 120 gold…
The reason gem prices are so high, is because people DON’T WANT TO SELL THEM TO YOU! It’s not worthwhile, not by a long shot. Eliminate the gold sellers and it’s still not worthwhile to sell gems at these rates.
I wouldn’t even begin to consider it at double the current rates.
Like the trading post going down and every item resetting…?
So umm, in other words – if all of you guys start buying gems for real cash and trade them for gold – the price will go down and I can afford some again?
Yea… gem prices are nowhere near there equilibrium. As I said, I’ll make a kitten ton more money investing those gems into my own character…
Basically its more buyers, less sellers. People have realized they could use those gems to purchase items which (as the market prices stand now with some items) could easily generate me 20g with a little bit of effort. Which sounds better 20g for $10 or 2g for $10? Just wait and see, unless something changes drastically the purchasing power of gold in the gem market is going to continue to decline.
Prices fluctuate hourly so referencing two separate occasions while neglecting all the data in between seems rather moot. As it stands, it’s not very profitable to spend my money on gems, then sell those gems to the community. Not even remotely… I can spend those gems on other materials that will generate me a far greater profit. I’m sure most other players feel the same way. It doesn’t help with gold sellers dropping 10g for $15 either… Why spend $10 on currency trades to get 2g?
Case in point, less suppliers (we have no good reason to sell gems honestly) = higher prices. Instead of getting 411 gems per 1g, that’s why your only getting 260. I’d love to dump a few $100 on the cash shop and make a rip roaring profit of gold, but I’d basically be bending over and accepting a foot up my kitten.

What a knowledgeable and well thought out argument Roven. I can tell from your concise post that you’ve spent a lot of time playing, learning, and applying the ways of the mesmer. I don’t know how Anet would be able to properly balance this class without the wealth of your research and constructive criticism you’ve provided. You have any campaign plans to run for the Presidency in the future?
“What about over-performing skills and traits? :P” will forever be etched in the history of men.
Where are the two second burst kills? Go look up Fameus… he’ll show you some real two second burst kills with a shatter/mantra clone factory build…
That damage “scaling up each tick” is actually a cumulative total of one use of a channeled ability.
If you go into the combat log you’ll see how much actual damage each tick is doing.
That’s it, thanks I never really payed attention to the combat log, the shinies on my screen are too entertaining.
Kind of lost me, I’m not on tonight but I can get some footage tomorrow night. Yes I’m talking about GS 1 auto ability which does three tics in a cycle (even makes that whomwhomwhom noise). Even though it says 3x 252 at max range, the damage seems to scale up with each tic (theres no way those 3 tics of damage can fit into 1 second). I don’t really pay attention in PvE I mainly use the GS for Ibeserker and MB there.

Thank goodness it doesn’t mirror real war! In all of my wartime experience I’d say 90% of the time you’re sitting around waiting for your 1stSgt to come up with dumb kitten for you to do to battle ‘complacency’
Oh and please don’t introduce escalades, people climbing up narrow ladders feels like a bad idea in this game…
I think Moa is fine, I wouldn’t mine them scaling up a few other classes elites but as it is MoA is fine. It’s a very situational elite, and it isn’t even close to being our best…
Thats really low tbh, and with exotic power/precision gear, weapons, jewellery (even though traveler gear isn’t optimal) you’ll get much much higher.
http://gw2skills.net/editor/en/?fgEQNAR8Kl4zionRTkekAVBsT6hqT9qL9g33W2A
I’ve mainly run with this build simply because it’s my event farming build and I don’t feel like changing it up 3-4 times a day. Luckily mesmer roles change with ease in just a few inventory weapon swaps.
Third hit, 1st and 2nd tic don’t hit has hard. Coupled with (not sure off the top of my head 40-50%) crit rate, yea… GS is beast.
Edit: I’d like to note its a 30 dom/ 30 duel build.
Put up 4 mantras with empowering mantras and utilize compounding power. You’d be surprised how hard it can hit… This is WvW as well not SPvP with amulets.
I play with the zerg and roam with my guildies. Playing both aspects as a glass cannon I really don’t feel any pressure. Last night I forgot my WvW gear and took my magic find set into WvW. My GS 1 attacks were still getting 4k crits and of 200+ kills I had 4 deaths, one of which was from underestimating a cliff drop… Granted that’s a 6 hour session and healthy mix of zerging & roaming in a small party of 4.
I disagree. Give the market time to stabilize. What hurt the economy the most was the fact that the Trading Post was unavailable at the start of the game.
And partial access for a lucky portion of the community while the rest of us had no access.
Not to mention that the first portal has what, 60 seconds or something once its dropped? There are supposedly teleport hacks, which have nothing to do with the teleport skill, since any class can do it… Leave the mesmers out of it bro…
The bottom line is they’d have to get inside the keep to drop the portal exit. No stealth is going to get you inside a keep with all the gates intact. The only way I could possibly see getting through a wall is with the phase retreat bug which sometimes pushes underground. It’s highly unpredictable and unlikely. Even then they’d need to find another way to resurface. Mesmers work as intended. Our portal tricks, reflects, and etc are the only thing that makes us shine in large scale WvW. Don’t even start calling for shenanigans and ninja nerfs unless you can provide some sort of evidence.
Surely someone who witnessed such an event would take half a second to take some screenshots?
Yea as far as the ecto market I found it to be quite profitable at first. I could easily pull 40g/day casually. I knew it wouldn’t last long but I really don’t understand why people need to come on the boards here (and @ guru) and say stupid kitten like, oh hai gais lolz do this and make lotz of money! Makes me /facepalm repeatedly. I die inside when I see someone throw up 50+ globs of ecto with a 2 silver cut too… like this is one of the most valuable consumables why are you driving prices down when they’d sell just as fast cutting 1 copper…
No, pure power/crit wins the game here. Even without toughness/vitality you’ll still do fine. You have to rely on your other skills like stealth’s, distortion, stun breakers, etc to keep yourself alive. Besides a player with 2k toughness will die just as fast to the zerg as a glass cannon. The beauty of our class isn’t the fighting power. It’s the ability to throw down reflections, combo fields, portal large groups of people safely into a keep that needs defense, stealth portal from a keep wall to an enemy artillery piece and pour 20 defenders on it, with an egress portal back to safety, etc. People say we are weak in large scale fights… I just don’t think they realize our potential… Had a mesmer freaking MoA me in a zerg on zerg fight yesterday and I thought “what an idiot…” he could of easily thrown down a time warp and actually helped his team, but he moa’d me and now were lolling face smashing them.

Clearly a hardcore exploration player, takes world exploration to the next level. Move along… nothing to see here…
I’d be surprised if they stayed there doing nothing for long.
But doing nothing, for even a little bit, can be a hindrance.
I use a 30dom/30duel build with mantras (for 16% damage increase) for tagging and bagging orr DE’s and I never run into issues with tagging multiple mob waves. What are you opening with? I usually open with Ibeserker/MB swap to BF, sword 1 spam. I don’t see how a staff build would do much better except for the fact that you get Chao Storm. From my experience attempting what I do with a staff build though, it actually generates me less loot.
I’m sorry but I am completely dying reading this haha. Are they doing it in /say? I’d love to see some video footage of this!
p.s. I’d suggest a server transfer…

I really like the "Nothing is wrong. Ever. And cant possible be improved on, your feedback and opinions are just invalid, dont like it? Then just blow it out yourkitten " type of guys the hang on these forums…
Huh? There is nothing wrong about with this situation. If you didn’t purchase the siege equipment yourself then its not yours. You don’t own it and you don’t dictate who uses it. This game is full of risk vs reward scenarios… On the other hand you can buy the siege equipment yourself and kick anyone off it and take ownership of it whenever you please, it’s in the games mechanics… You are the only person trolling here…
Risk vs Reward, regardless if it’s a siege engine you purchased you can always take back control of it. If it’s a non purchased keep emplacement, well yea… you drop it, fair game. I don’t see the issue here.
Moa is not a 1v1 skill… Can it be used 1v1? Yes, by really bad mesmers… If you are in a 1v1 and need to utilize you are just bad. It’s for engaging more than one player at a time and shutting down opponents elite skills.
Heh, I spent about six straight hours trading on Sunday. Just me and the TP interface… After I was done for the day and my pockets felt heavy enough I thought, “Man, I should get an achievement for this…”
So you selected the clips where you fought a bunch of bad players… and those bad players are probably here making ‘OMG dIS NrRF MZMERRr’ posts…
and you weren’t naked, cool story bro
What I’d like to see is a fee for posting orders to buy (as opposed to buying existing posts)…
So you’d like to cut out more of the buying market competition and hurt the buyer and suppliers all together? Seems bad for business…
Let me explain something
The gold sellers aren’t making a majority of their money botting DE’s, running dungeons, or crafting. They have the currency backing to make massive profits soley off the TP. I’m talking 1,000s of gold here. They can absorb the fees (even if you create purchase order fee) and still turn out a healthy profit from sheer mass of market weight. You start adding more fee’s the only people you’re cutting out of the market game is the individual players and it will turn into a market system where prices are run almost unequivocally by gold sellers. I don’t have a corps of chinese employees under me managing all those orders and competitive bidding for a bowl of cabbage and a place to sleep. It can be time consuming and exhausting, but at least I feel like I’m doing my part to keep the market competitive and eat away at their profits.
Seems like everyone’s solution is to nerf the class to oblivion or change it to a bad and underpowered warrior class… seems legit
I’m sorry you lost one fight and had 3:59 of pure pwnage while it was on CD. Do whatever you want to moa, just never touch our TW.
