The only reason I would see cooking go up to 500 and meet the other crafts is if they introduce fishing and that is how you leveled it up.
Its just a shot in the dark, but yes to make armor for each weight, light, medium, and heavy would be something of a marathon for one person to do, on top of that you have the races. Then you put on top of that the bounds of which you would have the make the armor set something that would fit in the world is another thing.
I am throwing an idea out there to see how much the community would like to have something like this, and that is a work shop that would introduce Artist outside of Anet to create Armor for the game and have the community vote on which they would like to see in game. What this would entail is that the Artist would have to be able to do not only the 2d but the 3d work for this to work. It will probably never work but it was an idea taken by Steam CS.go workshop since they have the community do art for there guns, and I understand that the armor idea would be more extreme since there would be more that would have to be put into it.
The pros of this would be more armors maybe, the cons it only would work if the community was up for it and could maintain it to make it grow. It would be one of those things that no other mmo has done.
On the Spirit weapons I would like Anet to change the trait that goes with them (Expeditious Spirit) it needs to have more flavor to it, the burning only works on three of the weapons, and I would like to see each weapon get a mini trait from this, like say sword was fire damage, hammer gave a symbol on its third hit instead of a knock back, Shield bubble could be activated only by the player, and bow auto needs to be faster and knock out more than one condition or convert conditions into boons with each hit.
I like how spirit weapons are on every ones list so far lol.
Raiding!
How can we make it more difficult? Lets take this conversation another way and ask the real question that should be thought about and that is how can we improve raids to be more challenging to those who beat it in under a day or week? For those of us that raided in WoW raiding one boss took weeks or months even but this was the fact from Vanilla till the end of Wrath. Where is the titles for those who do world first and have it shine across all servers for everyone to see? Where is the sexy tier armor sets to be the carrot on the stick? Where is that special glider or back pack only for raids that people drool over?
This is the questions we should be asking, not making the raid so pre-school that we have a drop down menu to make the raid easy for those who do not want to take the time and improve themselves for what is already an easy run. WoW does this now and it is dropping subs like a cannon ball, Sure the sub will jump up with the expansion for a bit but will drop again cuase nothing will change from the lobby game they have created. The Point of all this is that if you make it easier than it already is it will do more harm than good.
For the legendary armor I thought it was a bad idea to put that into the raid due to the time in making such quality armor for a raid, so will the next raid have another set of legendary and then how long do you have to wait for that to finish? Anet should have done tier gear but instead of making the stats climb up with each raid like WoW you place special bonuses on each piece to improve QoL for raiding. Then you would have more people going into the raid to achieve that special loot in the end so they can stand in LA with bad kitten armor and drive others to do the same.
Conclusion: Do not make raids easy, keep everything on a level playing field, never never make another legendary armor set for the next raid ( head aces abound.) Always look to make them more difficult so that completing a raid will be more taste full instead of watching guild run through your raids in hours. This is why I don’t raid I have more challenge as a guardian doing higher level fractals with that boon thief cheese than running a raid.

On a side note; have you dps-tested either of those weapons against scepter (traited in zeal)? Apparently Writ of Persistence in Honor doesn’t jive so well with scepter, but I imagine the scepter trait + symbolic avenger do.
Did some testing of this with and with out Writ of Persistence and the numbers here are what I got.
No buffs or debuffs
With Writ of Persistence : 4.4-4.9k
With out Writ of Persistence: 4.1-4.285k
With all buffs and debuffs and Writ of PErsistence and no off hand.
dps: 18.193
I’ll do a scepter test and see what numbers I can push out with those traits.
This is a list of the top 5 things I would like to see on Guardian in the future, at some point.
1: 25% passive run speed
2: Spirit weapons upgraded
3: Boon Trait ( A trait that makes boons last longer.)
4: Signet of Courage rework
5: Protection boon upgrade from 33% to 40%
I’d like to see what other top 5 those who play Guardians can come up with.
After a few Test with all buffs and debuffs added the numbers where close, and this was just hammer vs sword nothing else used and no off hand.
Hammer: 21.518 vs Sword: 20.051
Sword / Torch combo with all buffs and debuffs on the golem I managed to get a dps of 27.932, thats with using all utilities and elite.
Conclusion: Sword does more out the gate with little buffs but hammer squeezes by in the end with buffs, also you have to consider what you are using this for. In raids do you want protection or fury? in pvp sword might have a place perhaps? In the end its just numbers and was fun to see how the two compared after the patch.
Depends on what you where testing, did you use Utilities in your test? This was just a straight up test of the two weapons with no buffs other than what my class was just giving out, and no debuffs on the golem. I bet I would get a different result with buffs on and I’ll get back to you here in the next hour on my findings.
The one thing that keeps honor on that list of traits is Writ of Persistence, the longer the symbol lasts the more dps you do, and if you do switch Radiance with zeal its a dps lost due to the lost of Right-hand Strength, that cool down on sword is what ups the dps with the crit chance adding to it.
I did a few test today and came up with a result that I had a feeling would happen after this patch with the sword upgrade, it does do more dps than hammer. The test I did was on a weak golem with no buffs on me or the debuffs on the golem, I was running all zerker armor with scholar runes, trinkets, rings, back, and accessories all zerker for both tests.
Traits for the sword test are as follows.
Radiance : Right-hand strength : Radiant Fire : Amplified Wrath
Honor : Shield of Absorption : Empowering Might : Writ of Persistence
Dragonhunter : Piercing Light : Zealot’s Aggression : Big Game Hunter
Traits for the Hammer are the same just change Radiance for Zeal
Zeal : Fiery Wrath : Kindled Zeal : Symbolic Avenger
With The test I did and I did each one a few times to get results as close as possible and kept the rotation as clean as it could be the sword does out do the hammer but take note you do lose that protection and exchange it for fury with this trade off.
The sword rotation I used is like the hammer do not break the AA and use Symbol of Blades after Sword Wave, same with Zealot’s Defense and Spear of Justice. I did not use an off hand for this as I wanted to keep it a one on one trial.
The hammer rotation is the same just AA and don’t break it till the end to use Spear of justice, and do not use Mighty blow due to dps loss.
With no buffs on me and no debuffs on the golem the numbers are as follows
Hammer: 4.5k – 4.8k
Sword: 5.2k – 5.5k
There you go.
We can talk about changing guardian all day and all night long but we all know nothing will change, why?

Why are the three light armored classes more tank-ier than Guardian? I wear platemail and you are telling me that someone wearing cloth can go toe to toe with me and still come out on top… I think something broke.
Guardians outdated, short answer is yes … long answer is more nerfs will be seen at a later date. Working as intended.
On a serious note the class needs a serious look over and rework. I want my 25% run speed passive and spirit weapons need more love.
as they have stated, they didn’t give you a burning build, hence you don’t need condi gear. you’ll want zerkers for raw dps with these, if you’re having problems keeping up, maybe some P/T/V rings/trinks…but practice with zerkers makes you a better player.
Im curious about burning builds again, retalation doesnt seem to do much.
I made a full vipers burn guard once, did a test run and found out a few things.
A: Burn does not last long enough, I had 100% up time on condi and could only get around 20-23 stacks of burning for 3 sec or so, then it falls fast and stick around 6-10. Why, due to our weapons having no condi on them, and VoJ how that works.
B: its better from what I played around with for a burn guard is to go half viper / half sinister, why? sinister gives that precision which gives that hybrid its true name, and since only one trait gives condi duration, mind you its only 1 sec (Vitrues line ; supreme justice ) and how burn condi works the up time sucks so it better to go half and half since it works best with how the Guardian plays. I would have to play with it more to find that sweet spot for condi duration but as I had it with half vipers, half sinisters it seems to work out better.

I like the idea you have, but like Ragnar the Rock stated its wish in one hand kitten in the other, which will fill up first? In Guardian way of things kitten will fill faster than you can say spin to win, The question I have is why does Torch 5 skill not apply condi to the target ? I mean you are breathing fire on them, that always was a strange thing to me.
The SW shield is cool but I always wanted that kitten thing to stick to my side and let me activate the bubble as I see fit, ever notice that blasted thing wiggles off and bubbles in some place you don’t need it? What about Sword in general and how out dated the skills on that is? Why are every weapon the guardian can use a power based weapon, why not have some as condi? I read some where else on the guardian forums about a shield change that was nice, it made skill 5 bubble block instead of absorb, that would work well with the trait Amplified Wrath. In my opinion Shield 4 is just boring and like a prom date, done in seconds.
I could go on and on about how I would change this or do to that but I feel like others do, it all falls on def ears. We can yes post ideas on the forums but in the end we just sit and wait for the next update to see the next nerf they bring to this class.

I do agree with some of the ideas here and the idea of burning be buffed so that guards could keep up the stacks and compete with other (Burnzerker), and if you go way back into the younger years of the game Guardian was the most balanced class in the game according to the devs.
Why does torch 5 not do condi damage? or remove boons?
Why does shield 4 hit for so little and boons last a second or two?
Why is sword a physical weapon instead of a condi or boon giving, or why would you take sword over great sword?
Why do Spirit weapons have a timer and engineer turrets do not?
The questions could go on and on…
But why change Aegis to add more blocking to it? why not look at other classes like elementalist with obsidian flesh only to make Aegis work like that? lol that would be over powered… but why? both classes have same health pool and armor does not matter in this game, just an idea thrown out there.

The difference between all armor sets is very little so what would every one think if Anet just base lined all armor to be the same across all three types? Before you start to white knight the idea that plate gives more protection than the rest it really does not the value is very little and on top of that any class can tank in this game.
The idea is what if you could wardrobe any armor to any class?
How many variations could you build to make your character look the way you wanted?

I’m legitimately confused. I thought Guardian was the Go-To tank for Raids? I am trying to gear up one of my characters for tanking and thought Guardian would be the most secure. What is going on?
Guardian would be a good go-to if there was enough damage that tanks had to go somewhat potato. Even then people would probably prefer scrapper. Thing is there isn’t much focused damage on the tank, so the best go-to is something that already has comparatively bad dps but something vitally important to a raid group. See: alacrity-stacking chronomancer.
I see problem with GW2 that it breaks classic RPG model of professions. It doesn’t make any sense, nor it is fun to play a game where this formula doesn’t work: heavy armor freaking tank should be taunting the boss while glass DPS tries to look innocent and shoot big freaking fireballs at the boss and support running around like a madman giving boons and heals and cure diseases. However, what we have is, tanks a laughing stock. Every poor fellow can tank the boss in a cloth rag and a walking stick.
What I would do, and I really do it is the best thing possible: I would make a custom balance/restrictions in raids. So the support or DPS cannot reliably tank a boss. You don’t have a heavy armor? Forget being a tank. You deal crazy amount of support and heal?-forget tanking again. You hit big criticals? – Be prepared to die in 2 seconds if the boss actually looks at you. And some conditions have to be capped. It is ludicrous that some class can do 12 000 burning damage per second.

What should have never been broken is now broken my good man, the devs at Anet wanted to make a game where anyone could play anything at any level, the whole play it your way. I do agree that heavy armor classes should be the prime tanks but thats just old thinking and as we look across the board now Guardians can not be as tanky as other classes that wear light armor, eles and mesmers, I wish they had put in a aggro grabbing skill for each of the heavy classes so that role would be for the tank but it is what it is and in this game you will never see that come to light. Guardian was the most balanced class in the game since start so they never changed much but the way I see it is that was the problem of the whole thing, as mmos are never balanced and can never be if you think a game of this size with this many classes can be equal across the board its impossible sorry to wreak the dreams of the many but thats what it is. The future holds the key and I feel bad for many people who want that paladin feel from this class and they will realize it can never be obtained the same way as another mmo did it. It will never be top dps, it will never be best support, and it will never be the one class everyone wants in pvp,raids, ect… well it was once when WvWvW was a thing but when that comes back Guards will be replaced by reves as guards don’t hold that boon card any more. You want to play a class with a unique class skill? play something else as every other class can do it better than this guard and this is coming from someone who’s played guard since beta and still play to this day even though I watch other classes and wish I could do something fun like what they do.

RoF is looking for all types of characters to join in on the fun from the day to day adventures. As of now we are opening our doors to those who want to PvE, PvP, Fractals, and Raids.
PvE lay out:
We have many of scouts looking at world bosses on times and will let you know when they are up or about to be and give you time to Wp to roll the dice on rare loot. World bosses also fit into this slot due to times we do Teq and the up and coming new kitten fight.
PvP lay out:
A few of us pvp for dailies and fun just to hear some of us rage on TS to have a few laughs, we are not looking for pvpers but if you do some of us might join in but don’t expect mlg 360 no scopes just expect a few rage sounds over the mic and a few laughs.
Fractals lay out:
Yep we do this for our dailies but by no means are we at 100 on the level cap nor are we pushing for this aspect of the game type. We can help out if you are looking to do the fractal back piece as some of us have completed to the point of what Anet has allowed us. We aim to miss behave.
Raids lay out:
For this section its the meat and potatoes of this whole recruitment idea and we are looking for all types of players but we are not looking for those who only think of one way to do things like metabattle or what youtubers say is the be all end all. We are looking for those who are best at the class they want to play and as the saying goes its not best class but best at or something like that, we are looking for those who want to show that any class can do raids when done correctly, so new players or veterans the door is open if you want to take the time and try something never done before.
Raids will be live over our twitch stream to show off those classes that people see as unworthy to raid, so join us at RoF and lets us teach another way of raiding.

As the title says I am looking for a raid team simple as that. About me and my past mmo raiding, played WoW for seven years and raided from Vanilla all the way to 25 hard mode Arthas. I like to make it short and sweet any other questions I would rather talk over skype or Vent, or team speak.
I bought it off the TP and 60g later I bet its still cheaper than if I was to continue this precursor crafting. I don’t know how many ascended mats it will take to build the two parts but if its anything like the other 2h weapons it will cost you more than it would to straight out buy off the TP. The only reason you would want to do this, is if you want those AP, other than that just save the money and buy it off the TP to save yourself the headache of standing in Dry top for something that might not spawn for days.
Dune Soarer still no sign after 4 weeks of waiting, water running out and sitting here looking at dust storm after dust storm I think I could have bought the precursor 3 times over by now… to all those looking to do this line of work I throw caution to you as the rng is pain on this one, Twilight, sunrise, and bifrost are so much easier to do than this one. I wish you luck if you plan to adventure for this trident.

Finished the sunrise 1st step last night and from time to time head to dry top and still no luck on this one part, working on twilight next I bet I’ll finish that before I see this rare mob.
lol I almost did that for about 4 sandstorms and was headed out, its going to be one of those things that just pops when you least expect it, at this point from all the money I made I can just buy the pre from the tp.
I have been looking for this mob for a few days myself, reading other post about it, I will try during the dust event, thought it would only spawn after.
I am trying my hand at crafting the Kraitkin but I am having trouble with one of the steps and that is the first part in finding the rare mob known as the Dune Soarer in Dry top. Has anyone seen this boss? if so can you say where I as I have been looking for it and have yet to see it at all. The wiki states it spawns on the west side of Prospect Valley so if anyone has seen this let me know so I can have some hope of finishing this first part.
It seems to be an issue with the registry and after I use ccleaner to fix any issues the game runs fine, so try using ccleaner or any anti-virus protection you have that fixes the registry and see if that works for you. So far that is my theory on since that seems to have solved my issue for now, I’ll post again if my computer crashes again.
P.S. lets fix this before beta weekend if we can.
Tuesday morning before the patch my computer hard locks up, need to manually boot the system and all day Tuesday I use ccleaner to go through my registry then my antivirus to make sure everything is alright. On top of that I run a memory diagnostic to make everything is ok with that and Wed the game was running fine. Now Thursday morning I start the game run around and it locks up again and a hard reboot is the only way to go. The question is what did you Tech guys do from wed to Thursday? or what can I do to help you guys figure out why the game just locks up?
By the way the reason I ran the memory diagnostic was the first lock up of the game caused my computer to blue screen memory dump. So I hope this gives some insight as to what it could be, maybe its my computer but everything runs fine game wise other than GW2 right now.
Something is up just did a memory check and everything is ok, I ran battle field 3 and that ran ok, crosses fingers they fix what ever this is.
I was looking over the forums and did not find what I had been experiencing as of today 9/29/15. I log in and my computer locks up as I stand in LA for about 5 min, hard reboot. Try again same thing. When I say hard reboot I can not even bring up the task manager my computer is frozen. after a restart I play videos surf the web everything is ok. I log back into GW2 sit in LA and this time my computer shuts off. Strange things abound, so hard reboot and next I place all the graphics on low settings in GW2 run around and do sanctum sprint game is fine, huh… my specs for this computer is an i7, 16g of ram, T2 hard drives, and a Nvidia GTX 970. So after one year with no issues I run into this now, why? can anyone clue me in as to what I could do to fix this or help Anet with future issues on this matter?
The only reason for an expansion to ever be shipped out for this game is two things, one a new soldier class and two a new race that is pretty much it, (unless they want to kill the way points and do mounts
). Every 2 weeks the players are given content in the form of LS or big class balances, and sometimes map expansions. The big issue is how quickly the player base completes the content given, I know for a fact the last LS took me roughly six hours, where as raid content took me weeks if not months to complete but that is due to skill level and how much time people have to play. The main idea for the Devs is to let everyone win, that is the core idea here and you will never see a big gap between players like you do in other mmos that give raid content its just not in the design philosophy at Anet. Also it takes money to build such ideas and if you ever poke around to see where the gem store cash goes you would not be knocking on Anets door but NC softs, because I’m pretty sure if Anet received the gems story full capital then you would most likely see more content, or Colin Johanson creating his sandwich maker class and we all be doomed….
Unless you are in the inner sanctum of this beast known as Anet who are we to say what is needed and not? perhaps they would love do things such as make everything you ever wanted, trust me they would to a certain degree, because that would make you happy as a player base and you would play the game more. More time in game = better for devs and they need to eat too.

Raids Guild wars 2 style

The big question is how GW2 can bring about raids in the image to what this game is all about? No holy trinity in my opinion gives more freedom and gives limitless design to raids for this platform. Raids should not be limit to just trash mobs then boss, you also have puzzles in many forms that can be worked with to challenge the players as they travel deeper into the raid. Jumping puzzles are another idea that can be thrown into the raid that can be challenging like the halloween clock tower for example.
Also I would like to point out that GW2 does have raids but on a small scale (length and time wise) Guild puzzles are just a small window into what raids could be, just add big bosses and there you go… Raid!
As for loot we can rest assure that Anet will not put a gear treadmill on raids if they ever to end up on the scene. All cosmetic Items or mini pets shall only appear in the big boss chest, personally I don’t want to see blues and greens in raid chests only tokens to buy that raids cosmetic items, no rng plz, I have enough rng in other parts of the game.
Player count, the amount of players to enter a raid. 150 players enter a raid and 1 is only hit, snooze fest if I wanted to play with 150 people and hit 1 standing in one spot Id do world bosses as my raid. For this you need a compact size raid for example 15 players is good that gives the designers 3 party to play with and would give you an exact idea of how high the bosses health needs to be. 3 parties equals a lot to work with, oh and guild only can do this, need to be in a guild for that raid feel as this will be instanced, enough said.
Lets see I’ve gone over what are raids, check. We went over what raids could be, check. Loot was factored in, check, and raid size was talked about. Its not that hard to think about as long as you have the passion to create something fun and challenging, oh one other thing raids could in fact be like a mini series a story that did not make it into the LS that was thought to be a great idea but no time, you could use raids to tell short stories around the world of GW2. Also if you do a story like say AC story with cut scenes and what not remember to make a skip button for those players who only see numbers and want to beat this gorgeous game in a matter of seconds then sit in LA showing off their goods.
If you build it they will play it.
I would like to explain my devotion to a shield change for the guardian and I will give an example as to why Shield of Judgment needs to be implemented as a block mechanic.
We put two guardians side by side one with a foci and the other with a shield. For the sake of argument the guardians Aegis is not active. Now lets place a giant in front of the guardians and well have him do a stomp, guardian with the foci will use Shield of Wrath to block the attack and be fine. Guardian with the shield will cast Shield of Judgment for protection and will still take damage.
My issue with this is that one guardian with a foci an object the size of your fist can block an attack, while the guardian with a shield that can protect the body will take damage, the idea blows one mind. This is why I plead for a block on that skill set so that one it to be used more as the front line weapon for all guardians, and two not to be a fancy paper weight that I keep in my bags.

Second while you nailed why many of the skills/traits are not used many of your suggestions would be brokenly powerful, especially once you factor in how they could interact with each other and already existing traits.
I like that other people are trying to suggest changes to skills & utilities though.
Its all part of the plan, think of this as an open idea of what could be, and I do understand that some of my ideas would be very powerful so my question to you and all that read this what would you like to change? Out of all the ideas listed my one idea that I wish to see transpire is the shield changes.
