Thanks for asking our feedback!

Weaver
Very good concept and spell effects. But:

  • Sword: too little Power damage, too short gap closers, could use more barriers.
  • Utilities: Unravel as an utility is just bad design. Change it.
  • Spec Mechanics: quite clunky rotations. Some combos should be easier and what is lost in reactivity of skills 4-5 should be given back in other ways, plausibly through more damage and/or more survivability. Currently the Weaver is too much effort and too little build viability in exchange for extremely weak results.

Holosmith
The concept is cool. But:

  • It’s kind of the opposite of Weaver: low effort for insanely high results. You can literally faceroll random keys and still get stupidly high damage. It is so absurd that for most of the weekend I just assumed the damage output was a bug. Clearly to be toned down.

Mirage
Interesting concept and visuals. But:

  • Ambush mechanics: should be easier to use and damage numbers should be higher
  • Axe: should not have the most effective way to change target for your illusions. This cool ability should be more easily available to all weapons, maybe through ambush itself.
  • Phantasms: should have some use, they are useless in this elite spec…

Firebrand
Fantastic concept and visuals. But:

  • Tomes: should be quicker; give immediate use, shorter spell casting time.
  • Mantras: should be slightly easier to use, maybe widen the cones.

Renagade

  • Horribly bland concept. It’s the first GW2 elite spec that doesn’t introduce any interesting new mechanic. The visuals and theme are also underwhelming, with these transparent unknown charr appearing and casting some buff or debuff… It should be redone entirely, but I am afraid you clearly don’t have time before release. Very disappointing.

Spellbreaker
Very interesting concept and theme. Good job. But:

  • PvE: The sole focus on Boon stripping is cool in PvP and WvW, but in PvE…

Deadeye

  • Well done, a niche but very intriguing concept. Can’t wait to play it more and to test its viability without the rifle as well.

Scourge
Cool. But:

  • Raids and Fractals: Still unsure if barriers and boon corruption is enough to make it a viable raiding spec. Necro needs one: make sure that Scourge is actually competitive in that environment.

Soulbeast
Cool concept. But:

  • Dagger: feels really uninspired and disconnected from the rest.
  • Beastmodes: should have more variety in visuals and animations.

Tempest Status Update

in Elementalist

I am in the large camp of those who think the Tempest would need a radical overhaul, but that is clearly not going to happen at this point.

If I could change only one thing, it would be removing or seriously diminishing the 5s delay before the overload become available after changing the attunement. It makes overaloads absolutely useless to react to the situation, which has always been the main point of elementalist attunements, where all the gameplay is about switching to the right attunement at the right time. People often comment about the overloads out of context: the problem is not just the effect they produce, but if that effect can be deployed when needed. At the moment, it’s almost impossible.

If they wanted to offer an entirely alternative gameplay, they should have made the specialization much more radically different, starting from a main hand or two hand weapon. As it is, the Tempest just a clunckier Dagger Elementalist.

"Wash the QQ away!" The underwhelming tempest

At the moment people who are into PvP say the Tempest may be good for WvW.
People who are into WvW say the Tempest may be good for PvE.
And people who are into PvE say the Tempest may be good for PvP.

The sad truth is that at present the Tempest is good for nothing. Too weak and easy to interrupt in PvP, too little damage in PvE and not competitive with what staff offers in WvW, particularly in mass battles.

Ele needed a much greater change in playstyle to offer something really new and useful. They had a good insight when they experimented with sword, but they scrapped it making an absurd mistake. Warhorn + Overload mechanic don’t bring anything really worth or different to be taken from what we already have in any single game mode. It’s as if they look after a concept of “being in melee and doing more support” and pursued it in a quite abstract way. They seem really out of touch with how the class play in all 3 game modes…

I just wanted to take the time to say to the person who choose to give Warhorn instead of Sword to the elementalist that he managed to make the most absurd and despicable choice possible, ruining half of the fun for the upcoming expansion.
Less skills, less impact on our playstyle, horrible skins, silly blowing animations. And we are still stuck with dagger or scepter.
Seriously, all that in a single move. I don’t know who you are, but congratulations…

Tempest ain't getting warhorn!

Alesthes.4287

What is wrong with getting a sword?

What’s wrong with getting war horn?

It’s visually much less appealing, both skin wise and animation wise.
It’s less new skills, being off hand instead of main hand. Which also mean less innovative to our playstyle.
It’s a buff-debuff weapon, which is really not what ele needs more.
It doesn’t cover the short range, single target burst style that sword could have provided and ele lacks.
It doesn’t synergize with a Physical skill category the ele could have taken advantage from.
It’s quite simply not sword, the cool weapon that the ele community desired and asked for ages and from time to time, you know, it would be fine to get something you want like other classes do.

The list could go on. It’s not that difficult. Warhorn is a much worse choice than Sword, that’s it.

Tempest Background!!!!?

Actually there is rather a lot of evidence that we are getting a Warhorn (I have to agree with others, it sucks). A Warhorn skin has been datamined with a water/cloud theme, you can find out more on Reddit.

Sadly most of the data-mined sword skills were placeholder dagger skills, so it’s perfectly plausible for them to have decided to scrap that idea and go with Warhorn instead.

That’s like saying this is evidence we are going to get a Raven based specialization. It’s a friggin’ skin, with no real connection to our specialization, if being ‘wind’ based automatically means its part of our specialization than I expect to be given the full suite of Zephyr weapons upon the release of HoT.

Unfortunately it is not just like that.
That Warhorn skin was datamined within a series of Ascended weapons, all coming from the latest patch, all with peculiar stats, and most being known Elite Specialization weapon skins, showed in the previews.
So no, unfortunately there’s a consistent rationale to think this Warhorn is not a generic skin, but an Elite Specialization one. May still not be the case, for sure, and I HOPE it is not the case. But it’s not that far-fetched.

I totally agree. I was super excited when I saw that Sword Elementalist was actually a possibility, I’ve waiting a long time for it. My heart sunk a little yesterday when I read that Warhorn may be on the table. Please Anet.. just no, go back to sword.

I had to log off and go to bed. I’m still upset at it TBH that it might be the case. Sword had me all excited to no end, and this ruined it (will ruin it if it’s true).

Agreed. The most upsetting and disappoiting thing about the expansion so far. I was incredibly excited about a Sword themed elementalist called Tempest, with physical skills. And now, a horn? Seriously? I would be incredibly kittened off if that’s actually the case. Let’s really hope it’s still Sword…

I will always prefer the idea of Sword compared to a Warhorn, the animations alone would have much greater potential with a sword and lets not even mention how awesome Bolt would look (I’ve wanted to wield bolt on my Ele for so long!).

Sadly I’m pretty sure they were toying with the idea of using sword (hence the placeholder skills) but in the end it didn’t work out for whatever reason and they settled with Warhorn.

RIP Sword Tempest, I’ll never forget how amazing you could have been.

That’s what I am afraid of. Instead of getting a kitten arcane tempest duelist, using physical skills and focusing on melee single target burst, we could get someone that blows in a horn… Wow…
I still hope this is not the case, because it would ruin half of my excitement for HoT…

Are you going to reply to every one of us?
We are all upset for good reasons. Sword main hand is something people wanted for ages, long before HoT was even announced. You don’t get it, fine, ok. But it’s seriously borderline patronizing this notion that after the 10th person worried and upset by this possibility you still think you are the only one getting it right. Maybe, just maybe, they actually have reasons and you are missing something. Let’s say that by now I would consider at least the possibility…

Many hints seem in fact pointing to Warhorn. I can hardly think of a worse choice.

If that’s really what ArenaNet is going for, I will be seriously upset, probably to the point of dropping the class I enjoyed since lauch.
A single target, burst damage melee weapon like Sword would have been amazing and would have filled an important missing role for the class.
But a lame off-hand? Please, just please, no…

Alesthes.4287

A couple notes on Dragonhunter. We went with this name because we felt it was evocative of the medieval witch hunters. Guardians consider themselves protectors of the innocent. Followers of their faith be it in honor, valor, etc. The origin of the dragonhunter is a more subtle nuanced version of this. Guardians fight for justice and the dragonhunter faction believes justice is the eradication of dragons and their minions. I understand this is a lot more high concept than Mesmer but at the end of the day we felt like we wanted to try and push a more mature theme here. I hope this helps explain our thinking. We had other generic names in mind but felt like it was important to have a mix of spec names that are generic fantasy, more Tyrian fantasy, and more high concept. This one falls more in the third category.

Thanks,

Jon

Jon, As much as I like your work and I appreciate a lot the fact that you wanted to communicate with us, the explanation just does’t work. Or rather, it works in showing your reasoning, but it’s just not a very sound reasoning.

Dragonhunter doesn’t evoke a Witchunter, for the quite simple reason that Dragonhunter is a concept of its own, that already exists, with its references, imaginaries and tropes that are different from the Witchunter ones.

Add to this that you played everywhere in descriptions and flavour text with stuff like “it’s a big game hunter” and “it uses traps”, and it becomes even more clear that you are in fact pointing to a hunter of beasts, which is a hunter/ranger notion, not an inquisitor/justicar one like a witchhunter.

Final blow, you made a presentation video about a Dragonhunter going after a Dinosaur in a forest, and the whole idea of the Witchunter disappears for me.

I mean, it’s not the end of the world, but I still think that thematically you really screwed up this, and this explanation confirms it even more in this sense. You should have taken another name, or at least changed it after the backlash: for once, it was well justified.

assuming ~4% damage from bountiful power

Just a note: the bountiful power that was shown had a 2% increase for every boon. 4% damage sounds like a very low assumption in a normal situation, both single player and in a group.

Frequent crashing

in Account & Technical Support

Alesthes.4287

Just a quick post to confirm that since I applied Pri solution reported above I never had a single crash. It is basically giving me back a perfectly running GW2 experience!

I think it is worthy of note that even though the solution basically implies some degree of underclocking to the video card, my overall framerate and visual experience wasn’t much affected. I run everything around max settings and the framerate stays around 60 fps. This leads me to think that pushing so heavily on the GPU boost doesn’t improve the performance much and at the same time it affects very badly the stability of the GPU itself.

I sincerely hope ArenaNet will look into this, since the problem is very heavy, to the point of making the game almost unplayable for many players, and some kind of fix is definitely at hand.

I think anet cannot do a thing about this, its in nvidia’s hands. And like pri said, probably related to the gpu boost function.Im running 2x 560 GTX in sli ( oldies but still doing great ) having no gpu boost on these cards and i never actually crash at all.

You are correct, a lot is in the end of nVidia, but since these crashes for me happen almost exclusively in GW2 and they began when ArenaNet pushed the optimization of the game towards a stronger usage of the GPU over the CPU, I still think they can do something about it. Looking at the minimal change in performance in the game I had after this underclocking, I wonder to what extent they are pushing the GPU too much for little result, with the side effect of causing this instability.
So, yeah, for the most part is probably nVidia’s fault, and we can hope in better drivers releases in the future, but I think ArenaNet should consider this factor in the optimization of their game.

I was able to fix my problem by downclocking my GTX 780’s – It would appear that when my GTX 780’s entered their “GPU Boost” mode (increases their clock speed from 1.0GHz to 1.1GHz) they became unstable in GW2 causing the game to freeze up while the NVIDIA driver stopped working and recovered.

I was able to replicate this after playing for a few seconds to a few minutes every single time while the Boost Clock was active. When I disabled it, I had no crashing at all and was able to play for hours without a single hiccup.

I know this may not (and probably wont) solve many of your problems but it solved mine. My GPU’s were stable in every other single game I played with Boost active but in GW2 it would appear that it is not in-fact stable.

I’m using EVGA cards which come pre-overclocked and it would appear their pre-overclocked settings are just not quite stable enough.

Hope this helps someone.

Your explanation makes sense and I REALLY hope your solution applies to many others who are affected by this.
Now, since I am in a similar situation and I have the same problem, my simple question is: how did you do it? I cannot find a clear option for that in nVidia control panel so I guess you used third party software to manage the video card settings…

I am sure this is a quite noobish question, but nonetheless I guess I am not the only one who would take benefit for a clearer explanation.

Many thanks in advance…

Hello Alesthes, sorry for the late reply I only just checked the forums just now.

I used a program called EVGA Precision X available from EVGA’s website: http://www.evga.com/precision/ The program is free but you’ll need to signup to their website for the download link to function.

When you first start the program you will see two sliders near the centre called “GPU CLOCK OFFSET” and “MEM CLOCK OFFSET” – Simply slide these all the way to the left. This will make them say something like -30 MHz or whichever amount your GPU Boost is.

Once you’ve done this, make sure you tick the “Start Up” label on the left which will make sure these settings are applied when Windows starts up and of course hit Apply in the bottom right to make the settings affective.

I just also wanted to note, I’ve played about 8 hours of Guild Wars since my post here three days ago and not had a single crash in that time so I think for me the GPU Boost was unstable on my GTX 780’s and disabling it has completely solved my problem.

Many thanks! I am going to try this out asap. I really hope it works for me as well, but the explanation makes already a lot of sense…

I hope this can help many others in the same situation (and hopefully ArenaNet to focus on a more permanent and effective solution…).

Display Driver has stopped responding..

Alesthes.4287

Hi there. I think the good news is that many of us are having that problem, and it is indeed extremely frustrating.
I suggest you to have a look at the thread “Frequent crashing” (among others…), currently in the first page of this subforum. While that message “display driver stopped responding” may have multiple sources, ranging from old video drivers to video card hardware problem, the fact that so many of us are having it (and exclusively/mostly in GW2) is mostly probably a sign that it comes from the game and it is connected with recent updates.
If you look at that thread you’ll see at the end that someone may have found a temporary solution, but I am still waiting myself for more details on how it can be applied.

Also, if you like, post there to raise the attention on the issue…

Mudge, my husband’s comp is doing the exact same thing, and has for more than a month. Working with support we reached the point where they said ‘reinstall your OS’. Guess what I did over the weekend? Yup. Reformatted and reinstalled everything. Guess what his comp did again today, Monday after said weekend? Yup. played, blackscreen, comp locks, monitor says ‘no signal’. reboot, no event files except ‘unexpected shutdown’ because we had to hard reboot.

That’s probably a hardware issue – most likely a defective video card or power supply.

Vid card was swapped out, still had the issue. PSU was tested by a computer repair company and it is fine. Swapping out the MOBO and CPU as soon as the parts come in, thinking it may be the vid card socket, of which the current mobo has only one.

I am having exactly the same problem. And I am becoming a little tired of hearing “it’s an hardware video card problem”. Lots of us are having it, and only playing GW2. So? Do we all own defective video cards that crash selectively on GW2?
I have run all diagnostic tests I could and everything seems fine. And now I see even changing the videocard may not solve it. What are we supposed to do, buy a new videocard and hope the game will run fine?
I would honestly like to see more attention going to solve potential causes on the software side…

The game worked perfectly for me, until some weeks ago. I now get this “nVidia drivers stopped working” error, mostly just in WvW. The odd thing is that GW2 seems the only game I have issues with atm. I tried pretty much everything, from erasing and re-installing the drivers, to monitoring and lowering the GPU temperature, to change the graphics settings in game, but nothing seems to work. I seriously think ArenaNet should look more carefully into this, because the crashes are random, hit hard and are making the game borderline unplayable for many customers…

Hint Completeion Achievement Bugged

Had the same problem but I got the achievement today. Based on another thread I saw, I tried the following:

- Command pet to attack a target (F1)
- Let it die
- As the pet was coming back to me, hit F4 to swap pet

Once I swapped the pet, I got the achievement. Hope this helps!

I had the same problem and I can confirm that this solution worked for me, even if I had to try it twice (oddly).
The hint is worded pretty badly and I think that misleads most players. With the achievement points becoming more and more important, I am afraid this problem will attract the attention of more and more people. They should really “fix” it, if nothing else by wording the hint more clearly, so that people will easily understand what action they are expected to perform to activate it.

I still don’t understand why we has this trait? Since we can already keep up permanent Swiftness

That is not the point. We can already keep up permanent swiftness by investing in another trait line and constantly casting auras. This could provide an alternative way to have it, giving more options to invest in other trait lines IF ONLY it worked out of combat as well…

IF it worked out of combat it still competes with the vigor on crit trait which is EXTREMELY good for D/D because evasive arcane is so much needed to survive as D/D. So even if it worked I think nobody would take it. It should be completely redesigned.

I see your point, but in my experience vigor regeneration can be decently compensated in other ways, through sigils or other traits. If nothing else, it could offer some more options besides going Zephir’s boon or Signet of Air. Maybe it wouldn’t be optimal, but certainly not totally useless as it is now…

It only works in combat. ALL of our “+x%” movement speed traits are useless because we have apt access to swiftness or can simply use signet of air.

This is certainly true, but it’s also a restriction.
I would very much like to be able to get speed increase through a trait so that I don’t have to devote a skill slot to it. Or, again, use this speed increase through the Arcane line offering me more freedom not to spec in the Air line for Zephir’s boon.
In a patch which should should have offered more options, the new Windborn dagger is so lackluster that offers none but those we already had.

I think it is a quite useful video as a tutorial and an introduction to the class. At the same time, choosing this “tutorial” approach few days later a significant change to skills and traits wasn’t very wise. I mean, like it or not, those who have been playing and researching the profession since day one will be quite angry.

While I find many comments way too harsh (I mean, people, we are talking about minor changes to an online videogame, let’s keep rage and anger for more serious stuff in life…) I am quite disappointed myself. From a lead developer of this game I would expect a little more detail and sense of direction for the class than “we tried to put these new talents, let’s see what happens”. Particularly after you asked in this thread for questions, you received an extremely detailed and well-thought list of issues that then you pretty much ignored in the video…

Maybe if you offer some more insight about your other traits, chosen skills, gear and chosen playstyle, people can give you some more advices. As it is, I am afraid Aether McLoud comment is just perfectly true.

Friendly hint: people are quite nervous on this forum about the latest changes and their impact on D/D. Be prepared for some harsh statement. What works in PvE doesn’t “get into” PvP and WvW that easily.

Stone Splinters trait =10% damage?

in Elementalist

Alesthes.4287

Really need an answer to this! also..Do you have to be attuned to Earth to gain the bonus? or is it active at all times? The tool tip doesn’t specify like other traits do.

Well, if it isn’t specified it’s because it is active in all attunements.
Otherwise there would be no reason to get it over attunement specific traits. Here the limitation is the close range within which the damage is buffed..

Thank you for clarifying.

Can we get an answer about the Stone Splinters trait as well? The tooltip says it should be a +10% increase, but it seems to be only a 5%. What is actually intended?

D/D Builds??? (Sky Pirates Patch)

Yes hopefully we get an answer soon. For me and my purpose of Zephyr’s Boon I am not woried about the swiftness simply because I don’t solo roam much and my group can normally apply a good deal of swiftness.

I see. I do a lot of solo PvE and by this time I really can’t stand running around at unbuffed speed anymore… It just seems unbearably slow!

The 0/0/20/20/30 build might not be that viable because the Stone Splitters trait which I was using to overcome the Bountiful Power nerf is not actually 10% as stated in the trait. After some testing I found out it is only a 5% increase. With Bountiful Power at 1% per boon and the are 9 boons (7 the elementalist has access to) is still better. Which does not mean we have to drop the trait completely. I am now thinking about running 0/0/10/30/30 So i have access to bountiful Power and Stone Splitters for a max of +12% increase in damage.

I am with you on this. I am in your very same situation: D/D ele who doesn’t want to drop the ball and is very willing to experiment new solutions.
This suggestion seems fine, even though I hope we’ll get an official answer on Stone Splitters quite soon. I wonder if it could be a good option anyway, if the trait gets fixed to 10%. I mean, +17% increase in damage with a very defensive trait setup would be interesting. Only things which needs to be compensated at that point is the speed buff from Zephir’s Boon, probably doable with Signet of Air, which adds a stun breaker in the process too.

Stone Splinters trait =10% damage?

Alesthes.4287

This is pretty major and also quite surprising. That 5-10% can make a difference since D/D eles are obviously trying new builds to compensate for the nerf in the Water line.
You would say that in a patch heavily devoted to traits and skills rebalance they would have checked the tooltips before going live…
I hope we’ll get an answer about this soon: what is it intended? The tooltip or the trait as implemented atm?

An option to disable right click targeting

in Suggestions

Posted by: Alesthes.4287

Alesthes.4287

Whilst you`re at it, can you code the game not to move forwards when LMB & RMB pressed at the same time?

Whoa! That’s a completely different issue and would completely screw up how I move in this game (and in every other MMO I’ve played, all of them have used double button press to move). I don’t use the keyboard to move or turn except for short position adjustments.

If it’s a toggle, as most everyone is asking on the right click targeting which is the focus of this thread, fine.

Wow, never heard of anyone using both buttons to move, seems bizarre to me, but as an option that`d be best for all

Wow, I don’t actually get how anyone could NOT use both buttons to move. I can thus focus my left hand just on right-left strafing and skills. It greatly improves my time of reaction while being constantly on the move.
To each his own, but I am honestly surprised someone can be surprised by people using that option…

Why The Stat Cap Is So Important

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Alesthes.4287

Alesthes.4287

I am sorry, but I don’t get all this discussion in terms of abstract principles, which are in the end really not compelling, and I mean from both sides.

I don’t know if there’s really something like Stat-progression players and Stat-cap players, which the OP seems to assume as an obvious, deep and rigid distinction. Actually, it honestly seems to me very rethorically effective but also very unhelpful to actually address the reality of how the game is, both for the good and the bad.
I am personally a player who has not much time to play, a heartfelt hate of grindy games and unfair PvP settings, and a great passion for RPGs. You would thus say that I am a perfect candidate for joining the “Stat-cap players” crowd.

But I actually refuse such oversimplification.

I didn’t buy GW2 because I was promised a “Stat-cap experience”. I did buy GW2 because I expected a great and beatiful game, easily enjoyable in all its components by every kind of player and offering a fair PvP environment. So far I got it all, and thus I don’t feel betrayed. Of course, I am not delusional: the game has flaws and not every part of the Ascended system actually persuades me. Apparently, I have to say after last night AMA, it doesn’t fully persuades ArenaNet as well.

That said, though, what I would really like to see are discussion about these concrete elements: is the game beautiful and fun? Is the content offered accessible? Is the PvP environment fair? I mean actually, for real, as it plays, not in the abstract distinctions between imaginary crowds of likeminded players and not in the raving prophecies about how the game will be in a year.
So far, for me, it was pretty great. I have like 2 pieces of Exotic gear so far on my main character, so I was definitely NOT Stat-capped even before the Lost Shores patch. And still I could easily join every single part of the game and have fun at it, FotM included. Sure, if I want to progress into the FotM beyind the 30 level I’ll have to acquire Ascended gear and infusions, yeah. And probably it will be almost impossible for me. But why should I want to do that in the first place, given my playstile? Insofar I can still reasonably access, play and be competive at most parts of the game, why on earth should I think that Ascended gear is going to destroy this game, provided also that I know that some people with lots of time in their hands are actually enjoying to obtain that gear, and I am actually HAPPY for them to be able to do that and have their fun.

I will judge the game based on the fact that I will still be able to access any area, to see and complete any dungeon, to join sPvP on fair ground with other players and maybe, in a year, I COULD have to face a 9% more powerful player than me in fully Ascended gear in a crowded WvW area. If this is the reality of what I will still be getting, as it seems, I honestly can’t see the problem. If the reality of the game actually goes to another direction, I’ll complain and even leave if necessary.

But if the problem is that someone will have some Infusions I don’t have, honestly I can’t see why I should complain more than I could now, just because all those “Stat-cap players” had the free time to get a full Exotic gear while I can only dream about it. Is this unfair as well? No, it isn’t.

In the end, I am not a Stat-progression player and I am not a Stat-cap player. That’s it. If we want to actually discuss about the real game and how it does its things, I am in. Otherwise I really don’t understand what all this Stat-progression players and Stat-cap players are arguing with each other about…

Any news on the bar code recognition not working while setting up the mobile App?
I still get an error message for invalid code.
I already joined two forum threads about the issue but the problem was never addressed.
Maybe I have missed something? Thanks…

Alesthes.4287

I am trying to set up my mobile authenticator, but when I try to identify the barcode, the app gives me an error, stating that the code is invalid. This was pointed to quite some time ago, already, by several users, but we never got an answer on that. Still not working anyway. Sorry, but I am not going to use an authenticator until it’s pretty clear that it is solid and error proof at least at setup phase!
Thanks of the great overall work, anyway.

I have exactly the same issue. Give priority to fix this: to add an authenticator should give you a sense of improved reliability, and if the process gives an error message at Step 2 it doesn’t really look trustworthy…

End Game at 80?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Alesthes.4287

Alesthes.4287

Thanks for the responses, guys.
Basically what I take from all this is that there is no end-game content; that you are all doing the same things you did whilst leveling.
I was worried about this pre-launch because during one of the dev videos, the two guys were very vague about the end-game. I knew there wouldn’t be any heavy-duty raids, but come on. The reason end-game content exists is to give people a reason to hit the level cap, a carrot on a stick to keep them going.
I can PvP and WvW from level 1, and to be honest neither of those things is all that great; the PvP is inferior to the first game’s and I have yet to see any cooperation in this game whatsoever. A bunch of people loading up a screen with overblown skill effects does not make for teamwork.
Anyway guys thanks for the answers. I wish I would have known all of this before now because I would have cancelled my pre-order.
The last few games I have seen that released with little or no end-game content (TOR and TERA) are both already dead in the water. Just something to think about.

This is not what you received as a reply.
Moreover I would really like to hear how grinding the very same raid dungeon every week for months in other games makes “Endgame Content” while having an entire continent of dynamic replayable content, including multiple path dungeons with random events, is not “Endgame Content”. I would really like someone explaining it to me…
