@assassin.7895, I’d recommend a more serious approach with less sarcasm next time but I do understand your frustration completely.

In my opinion, you make some good points about things that should’ve either stayed in the game or should improve.

While I do believe ArenaNet can’t possibly think PvP is how it should be at this time, I doubt that they will ever put the amount of effort and time into balancing and tweaking PvP that the PvP community so desperatly needs and deserves. Whether that is a lack of motivation, knowledge, time, money or anything else, I do not know. But after 3 years and 3k hours in PvP I believe I can safely state that PvP as we know now will not dramatically change for the better anytime soon, despite all the constructive critisism on the one place ArenaNet SHOULD listen, the Forum.

I’m always in for PvP and I really love it, but ArenaNet showed me from the start of the game that putting your hopes up will only be a let down in the long run. Patch after patch they make the wrong decisions about balancing and when something is as broken as the D/D Celestial Elementalist right now you will only fool yourself if you believe it will be fixed with, how it should be, a hotfix. We’re more then a few patches later and they are still as overpowered as something will ( hopefully ) ever be.

I do hope things will be better when the Heart of Thorns expansion comes out. But my expectations are that it will be even more difficult to balance PvP, simply because of the even more specializations and an extra class.

I don’t expect ArenaNet to answer this thread, but despite that I’d prefer they read this and come to an understanding with how bad things are in PvP right now.

This is just why the game is hopeless for Ele :P There is no one helping out, where it is clear that Ele need helping.

The game is broken. PvP wise. Look at the amount of passive builds dominating the so called ’’meta’’. That shouldn’t be there, it should have the lowest priority to bring some build made out of computers, like the Spirit ranger or MM necro.

Ask yourself what an Elementalist is good at. A glass Ele gets dominated by any thief that knows even slightly what to do. No need to tell you that there are loads of thieves around aswell.
Also note that the glasscannon is currently the most less worthless build out there for Ele. With high burst we can exceed most classes in damage for a short while, making us the best at insane damage once every 40 seconds. ( ressurection timer is faster.. seems fair? Or.. ). Good luck actually landing the damage and staying alife in between. Don’t expect to be of any help to the team aswell, since as soon as you get close, you are dead, or you die right after you use your precious and high cooldown cantrip.

Good luck trying any other build out.

As for the rank 50 what you mentioned earlier. This was simply to indicate my dedication to the class, none of this was farmed and I got it fair and square by doing over 3k pvp games.
I don’t see how the broken leaderboard would be more of a clarification, but I’ve been close to rank 100 aswell. Good luck getting that with an Ele at this point.

Profession Changes

Elementalist:
Our changes for the elementalist focus on increasing sustain while maintaining the delicate balance between damage and durability. We achieved this by adding more defensive effects to a few main-hand weapon sets.

  • Signet of Restoration: Removed the split on this skill so that the signet passive heal amount will be increased in PvP to match the current PvE amount.
  • Armor of Earth: Reduced recharge from 90 seconds to 75 seconds.
  • Water Trident: Added 3 seconds of regeneration to up to 5 allies in the radius.
  • Burning Speed: This ability now evades attacks.
  • Frozen Burst: This ability is now a blast finisher.

Nah, I’m done with the game now. Stopped playing for weeks already, and this post is just proving that my time is indeed much better spend at something else.

In no single way can a company be this blind. In no way can the Elementalist community, that keeps getting smaller and smaller, actually communicate with ArenaNet.
How can it still not be clear to you guys that the elementalist is in need of much more help then.. whatever it is that you seemingly assume to be a buff now.

About the water trident…. What team support do you think a 3 second regen is in a group fight anyways. And that is when assuming the slow moving low radius projectile actually succeeds hitting 1 ally. ( no way it will hit more then 2, lucky if it hits both you and 1 other ally. Always putting yourself in harmsway when doing so ).

This must be said. I lost my trust in you guys a while ago, still clinging on the fact that some parts about the game are great and Guild Wars 1 was amazing. But now it’s gone too far, these minor and simply depressing changes after such a long time where it was AND is literally impossible to play an Elementalist with any positive outcome seriously makes me wonder why other people still care to play this, now passive and braindead game.

I’m a rank 50 Elementalist, always played Elementalist the most and have 2k hours on my Elementalist alone. Unless something changed the last 3 weeks that I didn’t play, I am 100% sure that this is NOT the right decision of ArenaNet once again, regarding Ele’s.

Simply amazing.

Just too bad that warriors aren’t the most passive build in this game anymore. And that has to say something.

No skill is required for the best outcome, even in higher PvP.
Passive builds > most other builds. And I’m not even going to compare that to the super high skillcapped but still near useless Elementalists.

Away with this unbalanced map.
Remove it from SoloQ right now. And start thinking of possible solutions to this map for competitive play after you do this. We can not wait for your months of listening to players and not doing anything at all meanwhile, only to fail at fixing it in yet another not thought-through and completely E-sport unworthy method.

considering the level of communication ANet has given us recently, it is quite depressing that a 400 post thread has not prompted an official reply.

Updraft! \o/ Only Dagger off hand has that skill. Radius of 180.. it has a minor 200 launch and a CD of 40 seconds. This is definatly comparable to the other classes that have fears and 500+ launch skills, sometimes both, sometimes even multiple. Guess the range on those skills. And compare the CD when you’re at it.

Dear ANet,

I am not sure if you read any of the hundreds of post, but surely you should know by now that the Elementalists are majorly underpowered in Tournaments.

I can not understand, not in a single way, why it takes so long for you guys to understand that this class needs changing.

Guild Wars 2 has one of the, if not thé, most incredible PvP mechanics I’ve ever seen in a game. It feels incredible and smooth, being able to see the enemies movements and act accordingly with dodging or other nice stuff that needs really much concentration and quick acting.

Unfortunatly, skill does no longer matter here. The strongest classes in Tournaments right now have reached the point where it literally requires second to none skill to best an Elementalist in nearly EVERY way.
No matter how good of an Ele you are, enemies kill you in a split second if you are glass, and if you are not, you will not deal enough damage while being FAR from a decent Bunker like the Guardian or Engineer ( We can’t even hold a point, we NEED to be on the move at ALL times (Conditions are much more effective on Ele’s then on other classes), we have no knockback and no fears, we cannot force the opponents to leave the node in ANY way, and on top of that, our Mist Form and Obsidian Flesh prevents capture-point contribution!!! ).
Honestly, every class at this moment is ultimately overpowered compared to the Elementalist. MINIMAL skill required for INSANE outcome. I ask you ArenaNet, what is it YOU think Elementalists have that helps the team??

Not only does it seem like you don’t care about the class. But it also very much looks like you don’t even know what to do at all with the Elementalists! This has been going on for months and months!

Why is it that you did not undertake serious action yet, everyone except you seem to know that Elementalists are simply underpowered. HELL! Nearly every tournament I join has someone saying ‘Ele, Reroll other class, noob’ !!

What do Elementalists have?
Taking 3 stunbreakers will reduce our damage to a point where it is better to play another class anyways, and bringing them will still leave you too vulnerable compared to other classes.
ANet ‘encouraged’ us to leave Arcana and Water last patch. There goes our last bit of surviving called ‘healing’.
I believe Elementalists should not have the lowest amount of health. We need atleast the same health as Mesmer. Preferably the same as Necromancers. With this, maybe we can be able to interact a little more with the team.

Suggestion
What I believe needs to be changed, is the incredible difference between base health and armor between the Ele and other classes. The Elementalists is the lowest in both Health and Armor while NOT having much to keep us from dying. This keeps us from interacting with our team at all. Any AoE is enough to down our health to 50% in no time, while any other class seem to hardly feel it. On top of that, Elementalists are the number 1 focussed target and that is simply because we die incredibly fast.

For the people still saying they actually enjoy the map. Think about other classes then Warriors or Engineers. I can not do ANYthing competitive as an Ele in Skyhammer.
I have NO knockbacks, NO stability without Armor of Earth, I need ALOT of space to run around in which makes it even easier for enemies to drop me in one of the 3 holes on nodes or sides. The map has MANY things blocking your view, which once again makes it harder for the Elementalist due to ground targeting getting kittened up or simply not seeing what other people are doing. I surely don’t have to tell you all that due to Ele’s squishyness there is simply nothing more important then dodging attacks and seeing what the enemy is doing, right?

For if you didn’t know already. !!!!!!THE MAP IS NOT BALANCED!!!!!!

Arenanet, there are seriously only a FEW other things you could do to make the game worse. This is SO unacceptable. I can in NO way see how you could make such a map. An unfair map in Tournaments?!?! What the hell are you thinking?!?!

I no single way do you show any kind of feeling that you want to interact with PvP players. Nothing is fair, 1.5 years further and still only 1 type of game and on top of that, you managed to create a map SO unfair, it keeps people from SoloQing.
How many posts now without a reaction? How many posts without a Dev or anyone from ANet saying SOMETHING that could warm the hearts of dedicated PvP players?

Would still be a plus if they implement this. This feature is very basic.

I mean, why isn’t this thought of at the beginning? How long would it take to get this implemented and tested? It’s just some dropdowns (UI change) + some item query.

Don’t get me wrong! I am giving this a big plus!
Unfortunately the main problem is what you already noted: Why isn’t this thought of at the beginning?
There are só many things that should’ve been here when the game got out, and even if it was overlooked, really.. a quick update or hotfix should get 90% of the problems away in the first month. We’re almost 1.5 years further now, and it feels like only the super big and attention seeking problems were fixed.
I can remember myself being stuck at a ( Level 42? ) Skritt main story quest over a year ago. It took ANet months to fix this. Needless to say, I was already level 80 by the time and doing the main story quests were not much more then a pain and annoyance to complete at this point.

Anet could increase the size of nodes and control panel to discourage cc spam and improve balance between classes (in this map)
- Point B could have 2x or 2,5x the actual size.
- Point A and C could have 3x or 3,5x actual size.
- Control Room could have 3,5x or 4x actual size.

^Every node bigger.

No holes in the ground near nodes, it’s kind of a nice feature, but NOT near nodes.

Change the Skyhammers damage to % health.. I get 13k damage as Ele, why do Elementalists get punished harder by something undodgeable then ANY other class in the game? Why do Elementalists get downed from 1 shot ( or so near, that the remaining health was already gone due to AoE’s and conditions ) while Warriors can take 2 hits and still stand??? It’s badly designed, change it.

If all this gets attention. Then maybe, maybe this map would be decent enough for tournaments.

( What are they waiting for again? They seem to fix anything game breaking in PvE super quickly, but PvP gets nearly no attention. This is game breaking. Literally spoiling the fun for SoloQers. they eventually, just what I sometimes do, just go for TeamQ, sole reason being no Skyhammer map.
( Don’t forget that there could also be, and probably is, a thread about how unbelievably unthinkable it was that you apparently agree solo people should be able to join a TEAM tournament. ))

I’d assume they’ll review your logs and decide if you are pressing buttons in a way that a person could actually do manually or not.

In case you don’t know, if you have one button programmed to send more than one button code at a time, you are macroing.

Would this be the point where I start fearing I might be superhuman?!

Hey,

I’ve been doing alot of PvP, and within a few days, several people have apparently reported me for using Macro’s.
To be clear, I am not using Macro’s. I have a mouse with buttons, this allows me to do combo’s very quick.

All I wanted to know is if incorrectly reporting someone for something is going to give the reported player trouble.

Dear ANet,

Remove Skyhammer from SoloPvP. Not all classes have the same amount of fear and knockbacks as others. People thinking it is ’’fun’’, are having fun by instantly killing people with 1 skill not even designed to kill people with, effortless. Very fun indeed! Especially for the classes not having those skills.
Remove it.

Solo queue. You can’t honestly agree that this is designed the way it should. People leaving one match after another. I don’t care what you do to them, but punish them for the sakes of the people that DO want to have fun and play serious. Willingly destroying people’s tournaments. I wouldn’t even care if you ban them for good. Just make crystal clear that this aspect of the game should be for the players that don’t leave, and dó want to play serious.
I am aware that Disconnects happen. I am not sure whether or not the game can see if it’s a disconnect or just leaving the game. If not, this will make it harder ofcourse, disconnects happen to everyone. Nonetheless, you will find a fitting solution for this, and fást, if you care even slightly.

If you agree, please make sure the devs read this. I am through with this ’’unbalanceness’’!

There is apparently a cooldown on removing conditions while granting yourself regeneration when going 30 in water and using the Cleansing Water trait.
Tested, the Cleansing Water trait has a 5 second Cooldown.
Neither of the two traits show an indicator of cooldown, so this is definatly a bug.

Since Ele’s are pushed into playing much in water and arcana in PvP. This is a very game breaking bug we can simply not álso suffer from.

Please fix this now, as soon as possible.

After playing around, I am having some success with 20/0/0/20/30 or 20/0/0/30/20 (can’t decide which is best) cantrip ele. Taking valks armor, hoelbrak runes, and battle sigil it gets really good sustained damage by stacking lots of might. It also survives better b/c water swap has 2x heals, and you can actually burst heal (I take glyph) as opposed to ether renewal, which adds the most survivability. Ether renewal requires 20 earth for rock solid, and often heals very little net b/c you take a lot of dps while healing.

It plays a lot like old cantrip ele as I get good dps, have excellent healing, and can deal with condis quite well. I’m still testing things out, but it seems to work pretty well.

Build variety. We are stíll pushed into the arcana and water traits, and on top of that, are once again forced to play defensively to get only decent surviving while damage is very limited. What are our options now? We can’t even change utilities other then armor of earth for cleansing fire now.

I would disagree that we have bad teamplay, ele can spam several heals/cleanses in a row albeit with pitiful radius) and push out some impressive aoe (albeit on huge cooldown)

We can spam 3 heals if playing S/D with either 15 water or 30 in arcana. 3 heals that heal 1.5k each, 1 attack and it’s gone again. But, fine, we can atleast heal.
However, ’’Ele’s are so squishy, they have to avoid combat at all times!‘’ combined with ’’Véry low radius of healing’’ ( And I’m talking about 240 radius here with a water trident that you can throw at people, but miss 9/10 times due to the incredible 180 radius and slow projectile movement ).

This is no matter of skill anymore, this just needs buffing and is nothing more then outdated. The combat, playstyle and everything in this game is not based on whatever you would call this here. No, I would use these abilities only for my own.

Hey everyone,

I’ve been playing Elementalist since beta, and never felt so weak as I do now. Despite ArenaNet promising build variety, I really just feel that I’ve been nerfed! What’s going on here? I’ve never felt so much urgency to spec for water as I had before ( PvP-wise). True, I can now choose if I want to be even squishier with 30 traits in fire, or, go back to the 30 arcana ANet was promising we wouldn’t need anymore. It’s now ‘’go with 3 cantrips and deal less damage then before’’ or ‘’die instantly’’.

Elementalists are supposed to be good at everything, or, hybrid. While I like the idea of being hybrid, it basically just means we’re good at nothing, atleast in the Elementalist point of view.
In PvE I’m quite fine, though, here and there I get downed from some damage that anyone with more health or armor would definatly have survived, everytime I see a warrior I feel like we’re lacking both damage and durability, but other then that, I think I do okay-ish damage and give my team a good amount of might stacks and fury.

In PvP however, things have been going from bad to worse. We have to get a full rotation out with loads of cooldowns to deal some damage, if the enemy doesn’t stunbreak or evade our damage. Also note how our cooldowns are way, way longer then other classes, for example warriors, and their ease of stunning for a long time on short cd ( while unlike planned, still does immense damage ). It feels like whatever class we are fighting, they have the upper hand. 1 mistake from the Ele, and it’s over, while the enemy can make numerous mistakes and still win the fight!
It definatly feels that other classes are now stronger versus the elementalist, while the elementalist was already in need of some buffs. I wouldn’t say we were underpowered, though I would say losing against Rank <20’s is really pointing towards the wrong direction. We could definatly use some attention Please note that I’ve played alot of PvP, and I know my class really well. ( Rank 45, for what it matters )

I also wanted to note that I really don’t understand ANet’s balancing methods.
Even considering moving up Renewing stamina together with Elemental Attunement to Master tier means that they have no single idea what to do with the Elementalist, let alone actually planning to do it! They also upped the Cleansing Wave to Master tier, probably not seeing the consequences! Is there even ányone at ArenaNet playing Elementalist? How can you make such not thought through decisions on probably the most complex class in the entire game?

There are tons of problems with Elementalists, one being teamplay in PvP. We’re not lacking it, there simply is none. If we get close to a fight, we will either die, or not deal damage at all. A major issue for a class like the Elementalist, don’t you agree? I also feel like, even if we áre able to teamplay, most other classes can do it better.

These are problems that ANet either doesn’t see, or don’t care about. All we can do is make sure they see our issues and shortcomings. And let’s hope they will change it as soon as possible, because it feels like the Elementalist is really in a véry bad state at the moment.

Trident. I don’t like underwater combat as an elementalist.

I think underwater combat as an Ele is horrendous. It feels unnecessarily clunky and slow, and I feel like half of my skills are useless, or so situational I never find the occasion to employ them.

I wish we at least had 2 choices for underwater weapons. First of all, only having one underwater weapons comes across as lazy development, regardless or whether or not it is. And even if the alternative weapon were worse than the trident, I’d have some sort of choice.

The alternative weapon.. wórse than the trident?.. Wew, ArenaNet must be getting Achievements for these things :P

How about 16 seconds, like it was in the good old days? This would make people a lot more happy than moving traits around the tree for the sake of “build variety”.

It was 15 secs during the old days….
16 secs is the nerfed 20 secs CD with the trait to reduce it. (20% from 20s is 4s = 16s CD)

I remember RTL being a 12sec CD skill at first.

15 seconds RTL, 20% cd reduction in Air, that would be 12 seconds

PvP revive invulnerability bug

Since release, whenever you stand up again after downed, you are invulnerable for about half a second. Ofcourse this is either a bug, or something not fully thought through.. No idea why this has never been looked at before, though.

I’d like to know why people have to be invulnerable at all, but if ArenaNet really wants it to be there, change it to Evade or something… I mean, really I don’t have to point out that it is 100% wierd that some guy that just escaped death and stands up is not only invulnerable, but also destroys ALL projectiles ( Including my Phoenix, that never returns to give me Vigor and removes a condition… for what reason again? ) that were coming not only at him, but also at the reviver(s). Resulting in me losing alot of my burst, and the one that was about to die ( lying on the ground grasping for air, so weak he/she can’t even stand up anymore ) now not only running around, but fully regenerated again.

Rune bugs

Hey all,

Nice to see ANet fixed some of the rune bugs that were in the game, too bad they didn’t take a look into ‘’PvP Rune of Strength’‘.
This Rune is bugged, it has been for a long time now! It still doesn’t give the 5% bonus damage with Might ( the sixth upgrade ).

I hope you guys will look into this and hotfix it as fast as possible, because it’s something I would prefer to use if only it worked like it’s intended.

Well, what you can do, is put the names of the people that kicked you, and let us all make fun of them!
They don’t belong in gw2 in my opinion!

Anyways.. Sorry for your loss.. I know the feeling and I fear ANet does not have a system that can be of service here.. :S

Dodge often doesn't finish.

Way too many times, dodge doesn’t finish the roll, thus for me as an Elementalist it doesn’t proc Evasive Arcana.

I am sure it is not due to being interrupted by stuff that goes through ’’Evade’’. Like when hitting Dagger/Dagger Elementalists when they have their Shocking Aura activated.

Please fix this bug.

The only problem is that we don’t have the option to enable / disable it. That’s all we need!

I actually like the right click targeting. I tend to play with the mouse the majority of the time. Using the right click to auto attack an enemy is something that I would miss severely, if it was removed from the game. Perhaps an option to toggle right mouse button usage would be better.

True, ofcourse there are people that like this mechanic. But there are also people who find this an obstacle.

A nice solution would be a toggle on or off!

Hey everyone!

Something really annoying here, and as I think it’s not intended, I’ll post it here in the bugs section.

Whenever I am playing, either PvE or PvP, I sometimes randomly target something else, be it friend or foe.
Took me a while to figure out what was causing this. Eventually I noticed that the right mouse button targets, just like the left mouse button. In my honest opinion, this is completely unnecessary, and besides useless, also very annoying. More then once I let my entire burst into nothingness because of this.

I’m playing Elementalist S/D, and for example: In Air there are some skills that only hit when targeting the enemy player, but if there is no enemy targeted, it will still fire, miss completely and ofcourse get the full cooldown… Is this also intended? ( Auto target is off )

I thouhgt the Right MB targeting ’’bug’’ could just be checked off / disabled or changed via the control settings, but there is nothing there about targeting with the mouse. Create such an option and I’ll continue being happy!

FotM Disconnections / Crashes

Hey everyone,

There is a major problem going on here, and it’s unbelievable that ArenaNet didn’t see this when they released FotM, let alone fix it when they come to hear of it.

Though I probably do not have the best connection around, it’s certainly a good one. And I barely notice it, or care about it, when I get thrown out. Yet.. it happens.

ArenaNet, how can you nót give this attention, make us able to join Fractals, or get us straight inside again, when we disconnect and tend to log back in again.
There has never been something more gamebreaking than disconnections and then not being able to finish what we started.

Fractals is a dungeon, 5 players must attend or it will simply not be possible at higher levels… Now I don’t think I have to point out that 1 of the 5 players getting a disconnection in a 1h+ lasting dungeon will happen quite often.

I hope you’ll give this attention in the near future.
