Kiel vs Evon, which fractal is preferred?

in Lore

Allyhoo.7608

I’m surprised there isn’t more then 2 candidates. Probably most don’t want to enter a seat where its former proprietor was murdered. Also for those who love Kiel she wouldn’t be able to enter the new destiny edge if she has strick obligations to the city.

Char should replace Char for all races to be represented on the console.

It would be funny if the pirate quagan entered the running.

The captain who was killed was the human Theo Ashford (it was the Charr cultural representative) — so by that logic Kiel should get the seat

GW2 Updates - Every 2 Weeks?

in Living World

Posted by: Allyhoo.7608

Allyhoo.7608

On the one hand, I think it is amazing and very admirable that the GW2 devs want to pump out this much content in what is essentially (after the initial purchase) a free-to-play game. I applaud them for their efforts.

On the other hand, new (temporary) content every two weeks is too much. I am an adult with a family, a job, and a house — I can’t keep up with all of the content/achievements at the pace they are being released.

If by two week updates, they mean something more like having all of the grindy content in Update A and then 2 weeks later add more story content in Update B, and more story in Update C, but still leaving in the grindy bits from Update A, I’m fine with that. But if every 2 weeks we are going to have different “press F” tasks, then I will never keep up.

Ultimately I would like to see something like I mentioned above where a 4-6 weeks story arch (with the grindy parts over the entire time) occurs, and then there is a 2 weeks phase where the only thing in the update is bug fixes and permanent content (new Dynamic Events, new dungeons, jump puzzles, etc. – that stay).

I need that two weeks every few updates where we return to the status quo, so I can level alts, or explore the world, pvp, wvw, etc. I want it so every so often I don’t have to bash, smash, mash, mangle, open, eat, kill, repair, hit, shoot, etc. anything.

Just my 2 cents and nothing more

Harvest it all or just what you need?

in Crafting

Posted by: Allyhoo.7608

Allyhoo.7608

No, nodes are not on diminishing return. There are a set number of nodes on the map and if you harvest them they will respawn after a certain about of time. For the good stuff (rich veins, ori, ancient saplings, etc.) the respawn rate is approximately ever 24 hours. For everything else the rate is much shorter (around an 1hr?).

The positions of the nodes change with each new build.

New player - tips for the game?

in Players Helping Players

Allyhoo.7608

Just for the future – questions like this are probably going to be better answered in the “players helping players” forum.

To answer your questions:

- Race does not affect your abilities much at all in GW2. Just pick what you like best. For class Elementalist is probably the best for AOE damage and Warrior is the best melee character to start out with.

- There are no PvP or PvE servers in GW2. The two are completely separated in game, and you won’t be ganked unless you are choosing to PvP. PvE in guild wars in about cooperation not competition.

The wiki is very helpful for getting the basics of the game (see link in top left corner).

I would love an option to store armor seperately from the bank…be it a seperate armor locker like mentioned above or even a style tab in the hero panel that allows you to choose any “unlocked” style for the armor you are currently wearing (i.e. keep stats, just change looks).

The dragons are the six human gods

in Lore

Posted by: Allyhoo.7608

Allyhoo.7608

The six gods are silent, and not doing much direct action, for a VERY obvious reason.

Look at what happened last time the gods fought anything, aka Abbadon.
-The Crystal Sea was turned into a vast inhospitable wasteland
-An entire civilization of people, the Margonites, was effectively wiped out
-The place were Abbadon fell created an ever expanding “doom area” called the Desolation, that is even more inhospitable then the Crystal Desert

The gods don’t fight the ED because doing so would doom most of , if not the entire, planet into turning into a wasteland.

The gods aren’t the Dragons, or sharing Dragon energy, they just know that fighting the dragon themselves is dumb.

I don’t know too too much about the lore but I chuckled at this since apparently an elder dragon can be killed by firing a couple lasers at it. Imagine what a god can do?

That fight just ruined everything. I truly hope zhaitan isn’t dead.

I was under the impression that the reason the laser was able to defeat Zhaitan was because it was a technological weapon, as opposed to a magical one. The Elder Dragons consume magic, so using a magical weapon against the dragon would have only made him stronger (assuming he could still “eat” without the mouths we killed).

The ancient races in the last cycle of awakening didn’t have the level of technology that the current races of Tyria do and in large part due to that fact managed to only escape the dragons (with Glint’s help) not destroy them.

Why can't I choose?!

Allyhoo.7608

My main is a mesmer…They are indeed slow — there is no real getting around that. However, I have found that other players are pretty nice about popping a speed boost on you when they see you running by.

Regardless of the speed issue, I find mesmers more fun to play than other classes. For dynamic events you really need to be using staff as a weapon for the chaos storm AOE. If you spec for condition damage you are able to tag mobs and do enough damage to get loot even in bigger zergs. You will never be as efficient as an elementalist with AOEs but IMHO mesmers are more fun to play.

Any use for rare items under level 68?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Allyhoo.7608

Either sell them or save 4 of them to toss in the mystic forge for a higher level rare (that you can salvage for ectos etc). Also you can check to see if the sigil/rune is worth more than the item itself.

On the Sixth Elder Dragon and its corruption

in Lore

Posted by: Allyhoo.7608

Allyhoo.7608

Regarding Primordus, my questions about the nature of his ability is because I’m trying to work out what each dragon corrupts (in this case, meaning ‘warp’ or ‘twist’). Zhaitan could represent the corruption of death (and not life; the twist on death is that undead are technically dead), and Jormag possibly represents the corruption of power (the twist on power is that the greater the power the greater the monster). Mordremoth (based on the original discussion) could represent the corruption of growth (the twist on growth being mutated growth/blight). Kralkatorrik is a mystery to me, as his minions don’t seem to embody any particular twisted aspect. I believe that Primordus could represent the corruption of life (the twist on life being that only nonliving objects are given artificial life; might just be twisting words though). The elements associated with each dragon also seem to be unrelated to the aspect they represent, and instead seem to be selected based on their location.

If this theory of minions being a twisted/corrupted aspect of what the dragon desires/promises is correct (and we certainly don’t have enough evidence to say one way or another), I would guess Kralkatorrik represents the corruption of a desire for perfection — in that, if something is to be without flaws it has to become increasingly more rigid and structured (like a crystal).

<Original credit for the idea of perfection goes to Konig>

Making Fractal of the Mist diff account bound

in Suggestions

Posted by: Allyhoo.7608

Allyhoo.7608

I see 3 potential problems with this suggestion off the top of my head:

1) Playing characters of different classes does not require the same play strategies in dungeons. An elementalist feels very different from a warrior or from an engineer. At high levels of FotM, I think most players would want their fellow group members to really know their class mechanics.

2) Not having to “level” alts through the dungeon restricts the potential player base for newcomers to game and those who are slower going through content. Already we are seeing people say they want people of level 5 and 6 group members, and lets be honest unless you are in a good guild most players aren’t going to run a lower level FotM than they are able by choice.

3) The biggest issue I see, however, is that while you may have progressed on one character to high levels of FotM your alts aren’t going to have the necessary ascended gear to survive the agony at those levels. So they would get there and die extremely quickly. Gear would have to be account bound for your proposal to work.

Lore Question: Miyani Investigation

This mission was bugged on my server and I was not able to complete it…Can someone who was able to finish the mission give a detailed summary of any lore relevant information that was revealed (what the NPCs said about why the invasion was occurring, if the DSD is involved at all, etc.)? I hate missing out on the lore more than the reward, to be honest.

Thanks in advance

Salvaging bugged?

I always assumed that the description meant that if you salvage an item that would normally give you jute, for example, you’d have a X% chance of getting wool (or iron if it would normally give copper, etc.) They could be toally wrong, but I thought it had to do with the teir of the material not the color (white, blue, green, yellow, etc.)

Gendarran Fields / Human Leveling

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Allyhoo.7608

Allyhoo.7608

I never had trouble leveling as a human until I got to Gendarran Fields. It seemed like it took a lot longer than previous zones because dynamic events were few and far between. Asside from centaurs attacking Nebu Terrace, I felt like I was running around aimlessly trying to find another DE. And it wasn’t a lack of players, I saw people everywhere and when an event would pop it was like a swarm of locasts descending on the area. Two caravan missions seemed to bugout everyday with the cart stopping on a bridge and never moving again until server reset. I finally managed to level up there, but it was much more tedious than previous zones. After moving on from that place, I was quickly able to get ahead of the leveling curve again.

Devs please add more dynamic events to Gendarran Fields.

Is it possible to loot the following items from mobs/gathering?

those must be bought. same with lumps of tin. its a little silly honestly

Actually, you can get lumps of tin from centaur Supplies Crates/Supply Carts at Northfields in Gendarren Fields. The are fairly plentiful drops there. Maybe there is a secret farming location for water, flour, and spools of jute too.

You can get spools of wool from the supplies in Northfields, as well.

Like the title says, is it possible to actually loot jugs of water, bags of flour, and spools of jute or do you have to buy them from the vendors?

Also, is it possible to discover recipes that you can buy using karma or can you only get them from the karma vendors?

Thanks for any help!
