Personally I liked the way it was just before this patch.
Charging it in a team was pretty reasonable
I had the option to use it either the entire duration or just a couple skills
I got half back so recharging was reasonable
10s cooldown was reasonable
Actually I LOVED how it was before, my only problem was the ‘feel’ of the #1 and #2 being pretty useless.

Not sure if it has been mentioned yet, but the regular staff 5 wall turns projectiles into arced projectiles, most of them were just going right over my head.
This might be a technical problem not easily fixed, so a modification may be in order. What if it absorbed all the projectiles then exploded in heals (and damage for enemies) when it was over based on how much it absorbed?
Also, I think all of the staff skills should do at least a little damage. Even just 100 damage, for tagging purposes.
wow I didnt realize the wiki would have that info, it is usually so barren (compared to the glory of the gw1 wiki) that i dont even bother to check it.
Phantasms benefit from your zerker gear though right?
So they do not benefit from +x% damage boosts from traits and runes and such?
Rune of the thief give you +10% damage when you are flanking. I am curious how this works with the phantasms.
If you are flanking, does that mean all your phantasms will do +10% damage? Do the phantasms have to be flanking? That would mean the rune has to apply to them individually.
Anyone know how this works?
Yes the ideal for us might be the customized pool, but that might not be the easiest thing for anet to do. I offered other suggestions in the hopes that anet would find one of them easy enough to actually do.
It should ignore rank finishers and the basic finisher. I have all these awesome finishers now and every time I see a bunny or a plain stake I curse the button. Or I should be able to choose which are included in the pool and which are not. Or there could be another button called “Random Purchased Finisher” that works as you would expect it to.

The only problem with that Rangelost is the reason anet changed it from that in the first place. They said they flattened it like that to allow for balancing with additional gametypes to be added at a later date, which makes sense to me.
Who I am: Relative to the hardcore spvp crowd, Im a noob with ~1600 games under my belt, mostly in what is now known as Practice.
Assumption: It is understood by most that Practice and Unranked are for the casual and ‘medium’ spvp players. That is not completely true, but as a general rule, that is the deal. Ranked is more for premade teams that are genuinely trying to compete with each other to be the best.
Now, If you ask me, the only thing worse than losing is the group of behaviors that can be classified as bad sportsmanship. I believe I have a way to alleviate not all but at least a good chunk of this behavior. Obviously there will always just be those people out there, and the adrenaline certainly doesn’t help.
But there are two things that can be done to help.
Stat Tracking: Some people really care about this. This is also why I excluded Ranked., as the point of Ranked is to be ranked. Practice and Unranked literally describe what they are, and there are people who will always care about their stats to the point that, even when literally playing the game modes called Practice and Unranked, they will exhibit sometimes extreme bad sportsmanship. Because of matchmaking pushing everyone toward a 50% win rate, a lot of people say that win rate means nothing, and this is certainly what people respond with when confronting a player enraged about this. But the fact is that no matter what, people will care about this, as long as the stat is tracked. I propose removing it as a tracked stat for the games (again) literally called Unranked and Practice. Obviously the stat has to be tracked for matchmaking, but it can be removed from the UI and hidden. Another option would be to let players themselves decide whether they want to track it, that would at least help with some of the bad sportsmanship. I see no downside to this, the community would be better off.
Rewards: If you win in Unranked, you get 1500 glory, if you lose, 500. That is a big difference. Certainly a cause for the bad sportsmanship that can be seen every day. But what to do? Im sure the devs have thought about it a lot more than I have, but I think I have a good solution. Using Unranked as the example, step 1 is lowering the rewards for winning down to ~1300. This makes Ranked a little better but not hugely more rewarding. Then step 2 is to increase the reward for losing in Unranked to ~1100. Bringing the rewards closer together will pacify a lot of the anger that players have when losing vis a vis glory. You can either leave Ranked as is or bump it up too. The majority of Ranked players do not play Ranked for the glory, they play for glory of winning (seewhatidid) so I doubt they would even care about this change. Practice can be adjusted too or it can be left as is, it is supposed to be just practice after all.

i joined a q and when it popped i was looking at my traits for what i thought was like 5 seconds but poof my q goes away and dishonor. o kitten. i can kind of accept that, it was my b, seems lame that u get dishonor for unranked q dodge since u cant tell anything about the match ur going into, but whatever. i get into another match and dc, come back, finish the match, suddenly im staring down the barrel of a huge dishonor timeout.
this is my question. does dishonor go away? you dont have to tell me how cuz obv ppl would then exploit it, but am i stuck with it forever? if so, spvp is basically no longer a thing cuz i cant control when the game(just the game) dcs me.
I can still only see 7 of my characters on the selection screen. I want to make more characters and buy more character slots hint but the character selection holds me back! I never play any of my characters that are off of the selection screen because it would change the 7 I can see. I have to have 7 chosen ones, and the rest are neglected sad pandas! I want a char engy! I want a sexy norn engy! Give me a grid option! Anything! Give me the option to display 20 characters and YOU SHALL HAVE MONIES RAINING DOWN UPON U AS I BUY SLOTS

wouldnt it would be a pretty huge coincidence if a big network issue started right when anet dropped a LS patch? its possible, it just seems unlikely.
Ever since the LS patch, some guildies of mine and I have been experiencing an extremely frustrating issue. ~5 minutes before a big boss event like Teq, the game will disconnect. My internet will be just fine, ill still be on teamspeak, my chrome works just fine, the internet isn’t being lost. It is the game only. And like I said it isn’t just me. I’m usually on a defense team for teq and sometimes we start losing 3 or 4 members from the defense teams within seconds of each other.
The game never does this at any other time. Since the LS patch, I have disconnected every day during Teq. I made it back in 2/7 times, the other 5, I sat there mashing join and never got back in. 30 minutes of prep and 20 minutes spent mashing join.
are the devs already aware of this? has anyone found a solution? anyone know wtf is going on?
Does it have one? I believe before it did not, but with all the tooltip fixing they have been doing, seems like there is one now because tooltip says so. cant find anything recent about it on the google, has this been tested?
so i learned some things.
first off, the audio loss and popping was 100% the responsibility of the drivers i was using. the latest drivers totally kittened everything i guess, so i found old drivers and those work like a champ. sound is great.
the other thing i found out is that the headset has its own audio card built in (which i suppose i should have realized considering it was USB)
but that makes me wonder what the heck is preventing me from using 24 bit?
if it was my mobo onboard that was incapable of 24bit that i could understand, but if its built into the headset shouldnt it be able to use 24 bit? whats going on there? is there any way for me to access 24 bit?
i am def experience audio loss. even on the main menu during the busy part of the intro song it starts to pop. what are my options for stopping this?
update time! i followed all of your steps nuggant except 4 because there was no option for 24 bit. it was all 16 bit. right now its set to 16 bit 44100 khz.
is that bad? will it still be surround?
being able to organize the order would be nice (technically u can now but it sux to do so) but it would still feel bad man if i had to have a kitten class that had to sit in the corner with the dunce cap on

i just bought the logitech g35 which came highly recommended. its a USB and will be plugged into my p8p67 mobo. i have a ati 5850 video card and it has some ports but im not sure if i should use them or just the regular usb ports.
so once i plug this bad boy in and install the software, how do i get it running in gw2? is it an option in game? is it something i have to do with the headset software? is it something i have to do in a txt file for gw2?

hi everyone, sound noob here. never really cared about the sound, mostly played with sound muted.
but my headset recently got chewed out of existence by a very bad guest kitty. then it occurred to me that it might be cool to get a 7.1 surround sound headset to see if i like it. who knows it may make me play with the sound on a lot more.

right now guild banks are specific to the server. if ur on server a and u xfer to server b all ur guild bank stuff gets left behind

ugh this happened to me for world 1 as well. went thru doing infantile mode and ended up 1 feat short. stupid thing is sitting there mocking me now….
in world 1 it ended up being the lily pads with the baubles on them in zone 2 right before that checkpoint.
fearing it would happen for world 2 as well, i took time to step on every arrow and walk on every rainbow….still ended up 1 short.
anyone else have this problem? what spots did u miss/what spots do u think i missed?
my main has also not received her bday present, but my other characters (all made on day 1) have.
the only thing i can think of is makeover kit.
makeover kit ‘reset’ birthday because its considered a new char?

i stopped running fom a long time ago, but id like to share my hilariously infuriating experience with the RNG skins. once i got to a certain point, i had a bank tab of relics and over 100 pristine relics, and was only running fom for the skins.
with over 100 pristine relics (mostly from 38 and 48) i had totaled 8 weapons.
3 longbows (lol only 2 classes can use LB)
1 shield (sitting on my war never used)
2 rifles (1 sitting on war, 1 sitting in bank)
2 torches (1 sitting on GRD never used, 1 in bank)
just ran 48 again for lulz…. got a 3rd torch… i pinged it in team chat and my team burst out laughing because they knew how kittening dumb and yet not surprising at all it was. the best part? i only use torch on 1 class, and for that class i have the legendary torch. so i have 1 rodgort, 3 torches, and only 3 classes can use torch. GG
now that is some pathetically kitten luck i know. for a long time i was raging about it but now its just so pathetic its funny.
i cant roll my eyes hard enough. rng fractal skins can go kitten themselves.

dislcaimer: this is for tpvp, and this may be wrong (correct me if you know better, this is just what ive observed from it)
when i first started tpvp (first ~15 games) i had a 75% win rate.
now, 75 games in (i only play tpvp casually, but im a skilled/smart player), i have a ~58% win rate, and ive noticed a few things.
1. premades get put vs pugs way too often, ive been on both sides of this, and it happens WAY too often.
2. a lot of noobs are flooding tpvp trying to get their daily, making yolo qing a near suicidal experience, especially as a good player (you will be cursed with incompetent team mates all day long)
3. nothing ruins a match faster than an afk/leaver/troll.
4. as i won more and more games, i was paired with harder enemies. (the matchmaking system is pushing everyones win rate toward 50%)
4a. this makes sense, but is infuriating when combined with observations 1-3. essentially this creates a situation where, if you play with a premade and dominate, you will get complete morons whenever you dare click yolo q.
4b. if you yolo q and are a good player, then you will get paired with worse players against better players, and it just isnt fun to play with braindead teammates.
things i would like to see:
-tpvp removed from daily (or at least remove the achievement point associated with the 5th spvp daily category after youve already completed your daily)
-seperating solo q and premade tpvp
-tiers of tpvp, so complete noobs never get put in teams w good player vs a team of all good players
-there MUST be some way to punish afks/leavers/trolls
-give players the option of removing themselves from the leaderboard and disabling w/l tracking (obv the data would still have to be collected behind the scenes, but i dont want any way to see it. this is just a personal preference, it makes me angry when i lose because i had bad team mates and their failure will reflect on my permanent stats. if i cant see the stats in any way i can at least lie to myself)
now i realize the tpvp community is not that large, and some of these things may mess with how long u wait, but these problems are causing me to quickly become frustrated and lose interest in tpvp
are there any points that you agree with or disagree with? do i need to elaborate on something because it isnt clear how it would help the situation? have i misunderstood some aspect of the matchmaking system? is there a better alternative i failed to notice? please add your thoughts.

the problem with personal metrics in a team based game should be pretty obvious. i can go thru the long list of them, but the long and short of it is that you cant control your team mates, and the random team assignment can kitten u over pretty badly.
personally i hate stat tracking. in regular matches it didnt really bother me for various reasons (larger team sizes reduce specific player badness affecting team outcome, etc) but recently i got into tpvp and oh my the problems shine thru like a ray of judgement.
between afks, leavers, team compositions, bads, and premades, things can go very bad very quickly in tournaments.
i know i shouldnt care, but im not perfect, and losing when it isnt my fault bothers the ever loving kitten of me because i know its going to remain forever on my permanent record
so please anet, for the love of us fools who begrudgingly care about our personal stats, give us the option to turn off W/L tracking. I know some ppl out there love their stats, so let them keep them if they want, but i for one would turn off stat tracking immediately and forever, and enjoy the game much more as a result.

i reached my breaking point a few weeks ago. ive earned 130+ relics from 38 and 48 and all i have to show for it is 3 LBs, 2 rifles, 2 torches, and 1 shield.
ive done maybe a coupel fractal runs since then (mostly for the daily, and last night my friends and i just ran lvl 1 swamp instead of a real fractal for this daily)
i made a thread a while ago about how to address the issue, sadly it seems to have fallen on deaf ears, as will yours probably.
the good news? super skins are way kittening cooler anyway, and not based on RNG. praise jesus…
so far we have only a limited selection of super skins, but hopefully they add the rest later and we can set the enraging RNG of fractal skins aside forever and curse its memory.
i know there has to be a cap somewhere, but it shouldnt be before the skin drop rate becomes reasonable
i know they added a hard cap at 50. i was wondering about what their plan was for the future to unhardcap it. as far as i see it they have three options. they can either rework the equation for AR vs agony so 50ar scales to protect u from 1172% dmg per second, they can nerf the agony 50 maw does, or they can give us enough AR to survive its current attack (i dont think this is viable)
but im talking more specifically about 40. maybe a dev can help me understand the reasoning here, but it frustrated me that after i thought i had finally made it to where logically i wouldnt die @40 maw, i got destroyed.
are fractals truly so hopeless?
so today i finally spent guild commendations/laurels to go from 30 AR to 40 AR. I thought I would survive 4x maw agony with 40 AR like i survived 3x maw agony w 30 AR. wrong. 24% damage per second for 9 seconds. I checked on the wiki after being stunned as i was murdered by maw (i had not previously looked up how agony works)
I never realized it, but maw agony scales faster than AR.
u need 50 AR to stay standing (w just your own personal heal) @ fom 4x
Is it just me or does everyone else not like where this is going? how much AR to survive 5x? 6x? etc
Is this just a temp measure leftover by anet attempting to gate players? or does anet really want you to have to get way more AR than the level you are playing?
the rewards from fom already make pretty much everything else in the game more worthwhile time wise, and now the new super skins are cooler than fractal skins (+not BS RNG)
What do you think? is this a bug/temporary fix? should they change how agony scales? personally i think a flat x agony lets u survive x level. ie 40 ar keeps u alive @fom 40.

id like to think that anet will be addressing these isssues tomorrow, but im aware its probably just going to be another slap in the face.
anyone who likes the current system for skins either
1. doesnt like the skins anyway
2. got extremely lucky and already has the skins they want
3. has not run many fractals trying to get the skin they want
the system is completely unacceptable. i nearly ragequit the game because of this one thing, instead i just completely abandoned fractals.
and past 30 every chest needs to have an exotic to even get close to the gold/hour that other areas of the game offer.
Random for SKINS is bad
afaik fractal skins are the first skins in the game that can only be achieved via random chance. every other skin u can just buy/craft
consider someone who thinks x fractal skin is awesome and REALLY wants it. they start running dailies for the sole purpose of finding this skin. they can get really lucky and get it on their first try, or they could still be trying after 10000 dailies and 15000 hours.
the drop rate is very low, and even when u are rewarded with a skin, there are a bunch of skins, so getting the one you want is a tiny fraction of a tiny fraction.
there should be a sense of progress, like with all things. spend 1000 hours farming for dusk? dont get it? after 1000 hours u have the money to just buy it. NBD. fractal skin under same circumstance? U KITTENED SON.
ppl who think the current system is fine fall into one of three categories
1. they dont want the skins anyway
2. they got very lucky and already have the skins they want
3. they havent done many fractal runs trying to get the skin they want
I agree with the idea of using shards, thats better because ppl cant just grind fom 10.
but i completely disagree about the recipe yielding a random skin. that is just as bad as the current system. its all RNG and ppl will get kittened by it and rage.

I’ve accrued roughly 100 Pristine Fractal Relics, almost exclusively from doing 28, 38, and 48, with the bulk being 38. In that time, I’ve gotten 6 fractal skins, 3 of which were the Longbows (also got shield torch rifle). Hardly a solid sample size, and my luck usually sucks, but I feel this is enough to know I’m pretty screwed when it comes to getting what I actually want.
My feelings on the matter fluctuate between extreme frustration and dead inside. I know RNG sucks.
Hopefully this has been discussed before, and hopefully they are already working on a way to address the issue, but I wanted to make a thread with my idea and let others post theirs.
There needs to be a more legit way to get these skins.

if u abused kits for the 99% of the game that was reasonable, then you were wasting karma. the only reason to use the kits at all was for that 1% of the game that was dumb.

community badness has nothing to do with it. what u said was stupid for two reasons
1. the players often have nothing to do with the bullkitten of the situation.
2. if every player has to be super leet in order to do things, then you will hurt the community overall (ppl are already complaining that the community is becoming too elitist)
if the game is stupid/wrong/broken, and players find a way to fix it, good. and shame on any developer that fixes the players solutions before fixing the problem with their own brokeass game.
also its a stretch to call kits an exploit in the first place. they were a consumable item specifically put in the game to be used. did they not think ppl would use them to turn invisible?
I disagree with everyone in this thread.
99% of the game can be done reasonably without the kits, but dat 1%. dat 1% where the situation/fight was dumb, and it was not the fault of you or anyone else in your party, where kits allow you to correct the inherent dumbness of the game, dat 1% is why i rage.
anet has made an infuriatingly bad habit of fixing the communities solutions to the games problems without fixing the reason we needed a solution (the games horsekitten).
