Definitely the video card. 5830 isnt just old, its a fairly low-end card.
That would be the easiest and the most improvement with the least effort.

Tier 1 Cultural armor is level 35, so no I would definitely not use it at 43.

I got it at 35 mainly for the skin unlocks and its good for a couple different achievements.

You do all realize the probable end result if enough of a fuss is made about devs posting so much on Reddit and not here, right?

Whats “official” about a reddit tag? Does Anet hand them out? Does Anet control the subreddit? Its not official in any way and thats why they post there.

That might explain the pattern we’re seeing IF they didn’t have official tags/recognition on redit. But they do, and Colin (who answers to very few) is pretty much leading the charge on off-site posting off updates and insights.

Conspicuously absent from that news article is the fact that yes indeed, Raids are for HoT owners only.

So they all but removed the ascended chest drops from Fractals which everybody could run and put them in the HoT expansion. And made it one chance per week.

I had an issue similar to this earlier today. Dont know how it could have anything to do with an HoT bug as I don’t have HoT.

Game locked up, I relogged, and got a weird message about my account being disabled or unable to login and to check my email address and contact support. I restarted the launcher and then it logged in normally.

Unless it has been fixed, and I am not going to waste my weekly free key to check it again…
You get 1 level 10 story key per week, and it has to be the first story key that week.
All other story keys are unchanged.

What this means is that if you get a level 40, 60 or 80 story key first after the reset, then you will not be able to get a level 10 story key that week.

Is there some new definition for “rent” of which I am unaware?

It was a text adventure, and definitely not the first.

Now that I have looked up SAB, I hope they do bring it back, so I can get the weapon skins.

What do you get as a result of not buying HoT?

You get less rewards from Fractals if you don’t have HoT.
You get a lack of guild buffs that you would have received pre-HoT.
You get a new WvW map that nobody plays.
You occasionally get 1 extra resource item as a “map reward” when doing events
You get nerfed dungeon rewards for everybody.
You get no ascended drops from Fractals for anybody.

There was a forum post announcing the end date on Monday or Tuesday.

Im running on an old Core 2 duo system with Win7 X64 and the 64 bit client gave me a 5-7 fps increase.

I remember this event from GW1 and I saw in the wiki that its still part of the halloween events, but the wiki doesn’t say when it happens.

So when is the “Mad King Says” event? Is it every day, at a certain time, or just on Halloween day itself?

I have enough karma for 4 pieces, probably enough badges for 1, though I haven’t seen the prices for level 80 since I can’t go there now and I wasn’t 80 when I checked yesterday.

I was wondering if market prices are expected to change much, if there is newer better gear with HoT maybe that will lower prices on existing gear, or if there will be increased demand for existing gear which may drive up prices.

I have the worst timing.
I finally hit 80 today on my first character, en elementalist.

I was going to check out WvW for the badge exotics, maybe a weapon, but of course its down until tomorrow probably.

So I am wondering if I am better off buying exotic gear now or after the update tomorrow?
Are prices expected to go up or down?

I do not have HoT so won’t be able to use any new vendors or content there.

You should always get the level 40 story key.

What HAS h\appened to some players, including me, is if you get the 40 key first in a week, and then later start a new character and try for the level 10 key, you won’t get the 10 key even though you should get it.

It seems like the level 10 key has to be the first that week, if you get a later key first, then you won’t get the 10 key.

Removing half your RAM probably caused more windows pagefile (“virtual memory”) access

It’s not like its all that hard to set the command line once and then forget about it.

Some of the free VPNs are free because they also share out YOUR IP to others, which can cause a lot of problems.

If you use 2 step verification and a VPN, I would turn off the “remember network” in security settings. .

Or use an authenticator, which could be a phone app or windows program or even a browser extension.

I got the full key from the event, the contents of the chest were pretty much worthless.

The F2P is a good addition. The restrictions are perfectly-pitched…..

It’s a personal choice of course, but I dunno ‘bout that. I brought HoT before F2P so I’m kinda neutral, but I wouldn’t waste my time playing this ‘free to play’. Way too many restrictions when you compare them to all the other good free to play games without those restrictions.

It reminds me of Vanguard, a decent enough old style grinder, but the F2P wasn’t really free to play, more like ‘limited to play’.

I think ANet should have called it Free to Try instead of Free to Play as it’s much more like a glorified trial version than it is a Free to Play version. If you consider it a trial version then the restrictions are more understandable.

I feel the term ‘trial version’ implies a limit on time or progression. Not 100% of the time, of course, but for most people I feel it is a fair implication, which isn’t quite accurate as to what their set-up is. You have access to essentially the whole core game, meaning you can level up to max level, get max gear, etc. You really just have limits on chat and trade (for the most part).

There is also some fairly steep level-gating to a lot of the content, like needing 60 for WvW, 35 to go to Lions Arch, etc. This makes the daily completionist impossible most days without PvP.

If its just the patches that are blocked, could you use an internet connection somewhere else to patch? Or is it the zone loading as well?

The message says 4 days from the time you start F2P, but it never starts counting down until you actually upgrade to the core game or the expansion.

Once the timer is up you should have full TP and mail access.

I guess it depends on how your ISP handles their dynamic IP ranges.

I have dynamic IP and have still never once had to enter a new code.

It depends on whether the number of people who would buy the core game for $10 is more then 5 times the number who would buy the expansion only if they could not get the core game for $10.

This is why Anet is doing everything in their power to make it look like HoT is the only option.

There is an option for $16 which is currently available at a legit online retailer, so its not impossible to get the core game cheaply if you look around.

You can only get 1 level 10 story key per week, and only if its the first personal story key that week.

If you already got one from any level personal story this week, you will not get the level 10 key.

If you get the level 10 key first, then you can also get the 40 or 60 or whatever other level story gives one.

Since the last patch, it seems like every time I change maps, I have to download another map, and its ridiculously slow.

Why would they spread it out like this and degrade the gameplay experience instead of just a few hundred more megabytes in the patch download?

Am I going to have to do a -image command line shortcut every time they patch the game?

I believe the change was made to increase gem sales for all limited availability item promotions, of which the Halloween promotion was the first, occurring immediately after they made the change.

Exactly what I said in my last post.

If they hadn’t made the change, a large number of players would farm keys to get the skins they want, negating the intent of “limited availability”.

There is no “conspiracy” here, and trying to pass off my post as a “conspiracy” claim shows how little understanding one has of the economics involved.

Going on a long rant about how Anet is a company and has to make money is not telling me or anyone else anything new. That’s the exact point I was making when I explained their reason for the key farming nerf. I was not complaining about it, I was pointing out why they did it.
