Would love to see it fixed… not willing to give up hope on that one yet… it looks silly like this.
I’m kind of into languages in general. Speak 5, can write in 4. Some more sentences, cusswords, counting in 3 more. I don’t care from what country my fellow players are, but I do prefer to be in a group in which one can communicate.
Not everyone speaks english, or wants to. I don’t mind people posting in any language, if I don’t get it I just don’t join. You can’t expect everyone to be able to communicate in english. Trying to make everyone to write every lfg post in an international (!) tool in english is… well… a mixture of lazy, ignorant and bordering racist.
Just ignore the posts you don’t understand, it’s not that hard. ^^
Thanks for the kite – i love it. Guess I’ll look for more places to jump down from with that thing equipped
I always thought of myself as a rather patient person, who actually enjoys explainig dungeons and stuff do people new to the game/dungeon/path, who helps out, if someone needs help.
Because of this thread I now know: I’m a scumbag as well. Thank you mf-leechers, ignorant people and ultimate carebears, for this new insight about myself.
Best cutscene in game. I love the style, I really really like that they don’t do the static 2-person dialogue scenes anymore.
And: NO NAMES!
Actually, this scene made me dislike Logan less.
I am really enjoying this match so far – had some good 1 on 1 with people from both Deso and Baruch (especially a Baruch ranger – and I’m glad everyone running past us was nice and ignored us
).
Some epic mid scale fights, and some good large scale fights – though the lags get annoying. The time battling with all three servers in SM yesterday late evening was fun, but kitten – just imagine the fun without the lags.
Thx a lot, Jade Sea! (:
Any uncontested EU server anywhere? :/
I like my human warrior. And my norn warrior. And my asura guardian. and my sylvari ranger, my sylvari mesmer. As well as my human ele and my norn thief.
This game has so many players with so many characters, that every possible combination is common. I used the word common for a reason – boring just does not ring true in my ears.
Yes, I hate it – regardless of the “loot”. It’s just too long… far too long.
That’s the fractal in which it becomes all too obvious, that fractals don’t really get “harder”. Just more mobs with more hp. And when you think that no more dredge fit into that room, you get it on a higher level – and oh boy! even more fit inside…
Well, the thing is, why do people farm cof p1 like crazy? It’s got a decent reward for the time it takes. Several other dungeons I really enjoy don’t make as much “sense” to do – you can’t salvage the bought yellow pieces for ecto, they take much longer etc etc. So to just nerf something (especially in this manner – I hate stuff per day, really.)
All those “daily things” are a bad idea in my opinion, because some players don’t have time each day to do their “let’s do x dungeon paths once” – but they have time to farm for some hours on the weekend.
A better option would be to make all the buyable yellows from dungeons lvl 80, and put some interesting skins in each dungeon via chest drop.
I had one abyss drop during the first month after launch. Sold it far too cheap^^* I got another one 3 months ago. Just a week ago, i got one celestial from a random mob in the genderran fields while searching for the guild mission guy.
The others don’t count, since I used to buy dyes to identify them and so have probably opened thousands of dyes… ^^
I would have loved to get that cake to my birthday!
I hope your son loved it as well^^
You are evil – you just made me miss my beloved tank. I loved tanking. And I miss a former guild mate, a dedicated healer – who didn’t switch to gw2 with us.
At the same time, I remember the liberating feeling of just grabbing whoever is online and go for any dungeon. And I definately don’t miss having to do a dungeon just because someone is the only tank/heal online.
Gw2 has tons of things going for it. I tried to go back to another game, and I started to hate “traditional questing”. It just felt wrong. The exploration aspect of this game is amazing, the different ways to level up are fun.
I think the solution is easy: Play a second game. I won’t quit gw2, there are so many things I enjoy a lot. And, to be honest, gw2 doesn’t necessarily takes a lot of time of the day, and if you miss a day.. a week, maybe even a month, it’s not that bad. You can just jump right back in.
You’d be fine and get the pristine relic + chance for a ring. Only if your personal reward level is under 10, you don’t get those.
I prefer names sounding like names. At the same time, there are some funny names that make me smile, and I enjoy those as well. Most people in my guild have “normal” or “fantasy” names for their different characters, and no brand names etc.
Stupid names irritate me, and I have to admit, I’m kind of prejudiced concerning “ImbaZerkWar666” type of names.
They should make a coliseum where people can 1vs1 / 2vs2 etc and even allow us to bet for the winner and spectate.
I would go as far as creating Olympiads like Lineage 2 but the basic stuff above would be already a lot.
I would LOVE that.
I actually love the change. For the first time, it’s nice to open those chests – gone are the three blue pieces. Only opening them once a day is more than fair to me.
Seems to be a “daily reset time”-timer. Did the fire-elemental half an hour before daily reset last night, and today in the morning. Same character, chests both times.
Been ingame now. It sucks. One doesn’t even see the vision of the mists anymore on the back of the character.
I fell in love with this skin very early on, and worked hard to get the stuff together. I have had mine for months now, and I loved it! Now it’s just… meeeh.
I’m still not ingame… how bad is it? Can anyone post a quick screen? I really loved that weapon…. I built myself the greatsword and two axes…
Favorites:
1. Mount Maelstrom. I love the volcano meta event, it’s well done, it requires a bit more coordination than just spamming one on the poor shatterer, and it’s awesome to do with 5-10 people. I adore Maguuma overall for the looks and the enemies, and the vanilla of course
And CoE is a dungeon I really like^^
2.Frostgorge – I’ve farmed a lot there and still enjoy the map. Out of all the dragon fights, this one is my favourite. It is cold and snowy, but in a good way. I discovered tje jp in there by accident. The only thing I don’t like there are the dredge -.-
3. Metrica Province – kitten has this fire elemental killed me often during the first days! It was an epic battle with tons of dead players everywhere, and luckily the waypoint fees were low at the level I was xD And there are skritt – I love them and testing their iqs^^
Dislikes:
Dredgehaunt cliffs. Yeah dredge. And did I mention dredge? And when I did the vista in the jp for the first time, there was a champ patrolling down there, trying to kill me every failed attempt -.- I just so don’t like that map. Did 100% once, have nearly everything done on another character – not this map though.
Boodtide Coast: Too-much-water. Water everywhere -.- Not as bad as dredge, but not a map I loved.
The others are just fine
I could name more maps I really like, but I’ll stick to the three I mentioned.
The warrior is fine as it is – it’s not nearly as op as often stated, and not nearly as tanky as often claimed when in full berzerkers gear.
Cof1 is the only path, where groups of warriors and mesmers are searched for in that manner. Cof1 is a joke, really – it’s so not warriors or mesmers that are op, the bosses there are rather … well… lame^^ in comparison to every other dungeon/path. I play several chars, elementalist, ranger, warrior. Sometimes I like to do an hour of cof1 farming – guess what, I just open up a group, take whoever comes my way, and do just fine. Just open more mixed groups, and there is no issue at all – and there is a great need for more p1 farming groups – when I open my group, I usually get 6-10 whispers in no amount of time.
In all pvp aspect of the game, the warrior is subpar compared to most other classes – they lack in many areas necessary for pvp/wvw. Thief and mesmer are amazing in those areas of the game, and the ranger with his range of 1500 is fun to play as well. The elementalist is doing great – d/d or staff for larger groups.
I’ve never seen a 4 war 1 mes group for any dungeon but cof1… In fractals for example I love having a ranger in my group, he makes the volcano fractal much easier, as well as ele/mes/guardian…
I totally agree that some classes could need a buff in pve – necros are suffering because of poor pet ai, as well as ranger. Engineer could need an overall buff.
All in all, there is no need at all to nerf warriors – give some other classes a slight buff and kitten it, dear fellow players, open up your own cof1 farm groups
Ari Kagura.9182, I’ve been puggin solo as well – never had an issue. But the thing is, I mostly start the group – I prefer to put the group together on my own, instead of joining a 4/5 group.
If you yourself start the group, you can set the tone – be welcoming, be friendly, be relaxed. Also take a look at the names of your fellow players – of course nick names are not everything, but the can give a clue about the person. “N00BHUNTERXXX” is more likely to kick than someone with an actual name, in my experience. Should anyone here be named “N00BHUNTERXX” and not kick low levels from AC-groups. I apologize in advance
I’m really confused, especially to AC my guild usually takes 2-3 people under 80 – yes, also pugs. I’ve never been kicked for playing on a not 80 alt – guess I was just lucky. Maybe it also depends on the server, I don’t know. Some people can play, others can’t – level is not a good indicator for skill.
Just a short “Thank you” for all the gorgeous jps out there – since I got a new computer, I love them. Like “Big huge love with tons of hearts” . ^^
Great way the questions, concerns and issues were handled in this thread. Thanks for that as well.
First of all: Welcome! ^-^
I totally agree on many of your remarks, and I have played this game from headstart to now. I moved here with my guild from another mmo, and gw2 is in large parts what we were looking for. It encourages playing together in contrast to competition over something as silly as a gathering node.
Probably after a while you’ll see some flaws, but every single game has those, and in this case, the wonderful world, the lack of subscription, the great ingame community etc etc outweigh the flaws by far.
As far as i can see, you already found out the strategy to play this game: Take your time and enjoy. Speed-leveling just spoils the fun of exploration. I totally get doing that with your third/fourth toon, but with the first one… It’s a new large world to get to know.
When you want to do dungeons, I’d recommend joining a guild, or in a pug: tell them you are new to the dungeon. ^^ There’s probably someone in the group willing to explain.
Dungeons are also about “getting to know fights”. Usually, the “one hits” are telegraphed. Since there is no castbar telling you “XY is casting Melee Instant-Death”, you have to watch out for animations. Ascalon Catacombs is a wonderful dungeon to learn that, especially the explo mode. Kholer pulls you towards himself and then spins and does a ton of damage. If you watch the boss, you see him lifting his arm in a weird way before he does that, that’s when you know you have to dodge to not be pulled.
Adding to the things already mentioned in this thread: At the beginning you should roll with toughness and vitality, it does not make you able to face-tank most bosses, but it leaves more room for mistakes. Once you are more experienced, you can start switching to more squishy builds step by step.
With my warrior I have two sets of equipment always with me, and 8 different weapons to choose from depending on the dungeon and the group. If there is another warrior or guardian in melee with me, I will be able to do more damage and wear squishier gear. If not, and especially if I got other squishies close to me (d/d elementalist, thief etc), I switch to a heal/shout build, giving up quite a bit of dmg, but supporting/tanking/healing more.
We usually run ac with 1-2 low levels and the rest level 80, but when we first did ac story we were between lvl 26 and 45, so it is possible, but it was painful
We died… and died… and died. It takes some getting used to, but i really enjoy this trinity free gameplay.
Wow, I had not anticipated that much hate.
I actually like the change, not because I’m trying to be elitist or anything, but because I really hate rez-rushing. It’s a graveyard-zerg, it’s not fun, its expensive and stupid.
The dungeons I tried so far after the patch were cof, ac, ta – the “usual ones”^^
The event on path 2 cof is great! I loved it. I did it in a pug, one player was totally new to the path, the others were not. It took us 2 tries, on the third we did it. Seems fairly balanced to me, we were not on teamspeak or anything, it was a random pug, someone inexperienced in the group. On path 3 the not being able to revive player in lava is really annoying, though.
AC actually seemed easier than usual, TA was not a problem as well. AC was a guild group with teamspeak, TA was a pug.
Still have to try CoE, used to love that dungeon, hope I still will^^
Overall, it’s obvious that getting Laurels is a lot easier than getting Pristine Relics, but… is it actually faster? A good group can do FotM level 10 in very little time, can you actually do everything in a Daily in the same time frame? That’s another aspect to consider.
And, in addition, while doing FotM level 10 daily, you get quite a bit of your “Laurel Daily” done, if the new Dailys are anything close to the old ones.
I really try to ignore the forum most of the time. Sometimes I just can’t – shame on me.
Did I really read that “only hard working fractal players” should get ascended gear? In what state of mind has a person to be to write something like that? If a game starts to be work, do yourself a favour and quit it.
I enjoy fractals, I got my ascended stuff for two alts finished, probably gonna get the items for a third next. I like fractals. Not hardcore, not everyday, but quite often. I only once encountered a “rage quit” while doing fractals with pugs, so I was pretty lucky or rather choose even pugs not while brain-afk. Btw, I don’t make other people link me their gear either
Still, there are lots of people who just don’t like fractals. Surprise, surprise! I really really hope, that the laurel-ascended items won’t be crazy expensive. 15 days max for the (non infused) rings. Why? Because getting those in fractals takes 10 days max, + a little for leveling up – and a level 10 daily really isn’t hard.
I have two level 80 chars s far. I have a small, but very active guild, so we do tons of stuff together. Right now I’m into leveling my elementalist, it’s a fun to play class though I really didn’t like it when I started. Since I had a very bad laptop until christmas, I just then started to like jps – before they were just annoying like hell, now I love them. Got to catch up on those
I do my daily, but I’m never very focused on that, it has got to happen in between ^^ I enjoy several dungeons, still got a few ones left which I haven’t finished. New dungeons or hard ones rather on weekends, during the week fractal 10 daily, some cof, some ac, some ta, some hotw, some coe – depending on what I feel like doing. I pug inbetween, but it’s rarely ever a real pug, most often 2-3 guildies and some pugs to fill up the group.
Luckily, I enjoy fractals, so this alone is tons of stuff to do. Wvwvw is something I enjoy only from time to time, mostly with friends and guildmates in smaller groups, 5-15 people. Still not a fan of zerging^^
I don’t play as much as I used to play in the first months, but that’s a good thing. It was a bit too much at the beginning. I feel like now I’m in a good place, game wise and time wise.
Of course there are some things I’d like to see changed, getting ascended gear through other sources than fractals, fractal dc-issue, more challenging open world pve etc – but I guess some of these issues will be fixed during the next months.
U can still do everything playing 2 hours a day, tell me something that u cant do?
The little boy want a legendary (worth very few stats more) playing 2 hours a day? u will in some months where is the problem? U want to do max progress in the newest dungeon playing 2 hours a day? U will in same weeks and just with exotics gear, buy the agony resistance socket with crystal and get the ascendant ring or whatever from the dungeon itself!!
U are just jealous ranters, “wannabe hardcore” that want everything they see from others players in game playing 1 hours a day. The content allow everyone (hardcore and casuals) to play the game and enjoy it.
Real casuals dont rant on forums for this things, they just play and have fun with friends. My girfriend is dressed in rare/green (no exotics except underwater weapons and a staff lvl 78) and we are actually at fractals diff 9. just tell me something u cant do in this game as a casual????p.s. in which way the cash shop should be an edge on progression in the game?
First of all: Please re-read. I was answering to the “take a break” people. What part didn’t you get, maybe I’ll be able to explain in a better way. To make it very simple: “Taking a break” —> “No ascended gear in few weeks/months” —> “Groups want to do fractals 10+” —> “No group”.
And then: This is so not ranting – it’s actually a very calm post. Maybe you should go check what ranting actually means. Wannabe hardcore? So not… I don’t envy a single thing super pro hardcore players have.
I never said the Cash-Shop is an advantage, I used the term p2win to explain our background as a guild – we know grind when we see it
It’s nice that you take your girlfriend with you, thoug it would be expected of any decent boyfriend who is not a total kitten. ^^ But what when agony kicks in (lvl 10+) and she needs the resistance?
All the “take a break” shouters are missing the point. Taking a break only leads to not being able to play future content. How soon that’s going to happen is unknown to each and every one of us players – even those who love the grind.
I actually like the idea of the infusions, even the different tiers of infusions. But the ascended gear itself represents a broken promise, a shattered hope – I can’t watch the linked manifeso trailer without getting sad.
We came from another p2win asia grind mmo, switched to GW2, fell in love with this game – what a difference! Not caring about gear, max gear was no issue, because it was easy to get. Some of us play quite a few hours a day, some only 2, but it didn’t matter – we could still do everything as a group.
That’s the past.
“This new rarity type falls between Exotic and Legendary on the spectrum of rarity and has slightly higher stats than Exotics.”
I read this and logged out. Lost all motivation to play. Will log back in when it goes live to see how it goes. Hope its not time to quit this game :/
That’s pretty much what happened to me – only it took me much longer to believe what I was reading. First it was “well, sounds bad – why would Anet do that? Maybe just an exaggerating journalist, who knows. There is hope.”
Well and then the blog post… and only then it really started sinking in. This change makes me sad.
