Underwater combat has a lot of potential but my DPS is too low. I hate fighting underwater because of it. (Elementalist)
I’d like to see some instanced raids and guild vs guild arena (hopefully it isn’t like WoW arena though).
Definitely worth it
I’m satisfied as an Elementalist. I think tornado/whirlpool is cool but I use my Hounds of Balthazar mostly. Sometimes I switch to glyph of elementals if I need a pet to tank with but I love my hounds.
Elementalists get tons of skills. The four attunements give them 20 skills. Then there’s weapon switching, so really 60 skills. 80 if you count underwater.
GW2 would probably be my ideal MMORPG if it had:
-Open world PvP with player looting and a criminal system (alignment/jail)
-Persistent world (no zoning)
-Non-purpose built areas, like vast forests that you can almost get lost in
That’s in an perfect world though. I love the game how it is. No complaints here.
I love Divinity’s Reach. I usually log out there.
I was thinking about this the other day. I am working on 100% map completion and have finished most of the starting zones. If I decide to make an alt, there will be no new areas to explore. I guess it’s no different from WoW though since I’ve done all the zones there 1000 times too. Regardless, it’s still fun to learn a new class.
I liked that every time I left a city there was a chance I’d be PK’d and lose an item. Actually it could happen in the cities too (safe zones are lame). Most modern MMORPGs have absolutely no danger in them.
MMOs have been turning casual for years. Even original WoW was considered casual compared to previous grindy MMOs. Also, WoW came out in 2004. This guy was clueless from the first sentence.
Killthehealersffs is spot on. WoW is notorious for copying ideas from other games. That’s why I laugh when people call games a WoW clone. WoW itself is just a combination of other games.
I run this game on max settings and I have no performance issues, even in WvW. I don’t think your computer is as super as you think. Either that or your internet connection sucks.
The problem is that most of those people have only ever played WoW or WoW-like MMORPGs and they think that’s the only way to play them. I played a sandbox for 2 years before WoW came out and gear was almost irrelevant in that game too. You could be a level 51 and do the same damage as a level 100, but you’d have half the health.
I’ve helped lower level people complete hearts in zones I’ve completed. I follow them around and attack whatever they attack. If they don’t know what to do for the heart… well… that’s a personal problem.
No reason for mounts… waypoints are just fine. I’ve never had more than 3 gold, sitting at about 1g 50s now, and I use waypoints all the time. No complaints here. Mounts wouldn’t make sense with all the waypoints. If you think it’s too expensive, walk. Simple.
I stopped reading… Not trying to be a jerk…but lets be real.. MMO’s are great for the journey to lvl cap…but the game is centered around lvl 80 play. You don’t have the experience to tell me that end game is or isnt an issue. i had the same point of veiw while leveling to 80 and completely lost it at cap.
Experience? I think you came to this game expecting WoW and since you didn’t get WoW you’re upset. I knew the first day I played that there was no rush to 80 because you’re already lvl 80 in PvP and zones scale to level… it’s obviously meant to be a casual MMO. If you -ever- thought that this game was about rushing to 80 and grinding raids, you were delusional from the start.
The shark skill challenge in Sparkfly Fen was bugged for awhile but I logged in after the reset yesterday and it was fine.
-Reaching level 80 takes a week;
-100% world completion takes a week;
Lmao… You know, most people actually have lives right? If you reached 80 in a week, let alone 100% world completion, you need to take a long, hard look in the mirror and ask yourself what your life’s purpose even is.
I completely disagree. You still run around killing 20 rats. The questing is actually much worse than normal mmos imo due to the fact that there is no presentation. Imagine if you got a quest in another mmo and all it said was “Kill 20 rats”. That’s GW2.
LOL! I’ve done more than half of the hearts in the game and there are no quests like you described. Nothing tells you to go kill X of Y. In fact there is only one task I remember where I had to kill rats, but I also had to clean up graffiti and do a few other things in order to “keep the town’s reputation”. There are a couple other ones that tell you to reduce a certain population but there’s still more you can do to finish them than just kill mobs.
Nothing in your post was worth reading after that. 0/10
Wow’s pvp was never real pvp. Ever. In any way, shape or form.
I’d love for you to tell me exactly what “real PvP” is because any player vs. player combat is by definition “real PvP”. The big battles out in the world during classic WoW were “real PvP”. Battlegrounds are “real PvP”. Even arena, as crappy as it is, is “real PvP”.
Unless you’re talking about an MMO with true open world PvP and lootable players, I don’t want to hear what your definition of “real PvP” is. PvP is PvP, even this zerg fest we call WvW.
I only ever got 1-2s for each one anyway. Not much of a loss but every little bit helps.
Ouch. That was actually one of the first thing I noticed when I started playing. :|
Same lol
Anyway, is there a way to go through and check all of my mails? lol. It seems to only show 15 most recent ones
I don’t think so
Razamis, is WoW the only other MMORPG you’ve ever played? Sure sounds like it.
I guess you don’t know your WoW history then… the Pandaren race was first mentioned as an April Fools joke waaaay back in 2002. It’s been a part of the lore for as long as the game as been around, pretty much.
See, there you go. It started as an April Fools joke. Pandas were a joke from the moment they were conceived. Everyone talks about how they’ve been part of lore since before WoW yet they usually fail to mention that they only exist because of April Fools.
I am a level 63 Elementalist. I’ve fully completed every zone I’ve leveled in (sitting at over 50% world completion now). I’ve had a blast and haven’t thought leveling was too slow (actually, quite the opposite). It took a little while at first to learn how to play the class efficiently, especially while being so squishy, but once I got the hang of it I loved it.
There will be times that you come across a heart that is difficult to solo. Most of the time somebody comes along to help. If not, you could always try switching to another server. Most of the content is definitely soloable though.
There are a few points of interest that are difficult to find. Sometimes you have to find a hidden entrance miles away from where the PoI is marked on the map. When that happens I just do a quick Youtube search and there’s usually a video about it.
62 Elementalist, 9/10. I’m still getting used to being so squishy in PvP.
I am really impressed with the Elementalist class overall. I feel like this is what a real Elementalist should be… a master of all the elements. Rift’s Elementalist soul technically used all the elements but it was a really lame class. I like how in GW2 you have to “attune” to an element and learn which attunement is best for each situation.
Patch or not, those who already want to try MoP will buy it. They’ll probably be bored within a month or two and be back on GW2 when their sub runs out. That’s the benefit of having no sub fee.
Also, I’ve seen a few people claim that GW2 is a “WoW clone”. I bet if you asked them what was cloned they wouldn’t be able to tell you. I’ve yet to find something in this game that makes me think of WoW. It’s completely different.
@Bloodtau: GW2 is a very polished game for just being released. They’ve been polishing WoW for almost 8 years and it still has issues.
@Natural: No, Revan is right. WoW started going downhill the moment the first xpac was released.
Happens to me too but it’s only been by a percent. For example, I’ll get to 40% map completion and when I log out it will say 39% on the loading screen. I usually go grab a few more waypoints or points of interest to catch up.
