So it’s event-based? I found an opening near the ceiling that you could use an updraft near the vista and some clever jumping and gliding to get to. Once gliding to and hopping out of the opening, was able to run on top of the area and found the top of the hole above the ancient chest. Excitedly ran to the hole and…was stopped by invisible walls. I can see the tree and my personal waypoint marker right down below, but a whole lot of invisible nothing is blocking it.

I mean, great if it’s event-based, but I feel silly running into invisible walls when it looks like I should be able to just jump down this giant hole, and also a bit disappointed that I was able to find this neat way to get there.

Dwayna's Regalia Outfit

I wanted to chime in and thank Anet for putting in an outfit with different hair! I’ve personally always been a bit “meh” to wear the old hats and such that just eliminated your character’s hair completely – either hiding it with a flap (pirate hat) or making you bald (witch/wizard hat/GW2 cap for example.)

Always wanted a hat or outfit with a different hair style that could either be dyed or was set to match the color choice of your character’s hair. Thanks for that!

(I only wish it were simple to go back and add bits of hair to the older outfits/hats.)

Bumping this because the challenge mote refuses to appear in “No Refuge” and, even though all three of my party members still need Wicked Rodeo, the eligibility icon is not showing up for it on any of us. Logging out and in doesn’t work; we’ve all tried to initiate the instance, also doesn’t work.

No mote and no eligibility icon means blocked progress for that achievement.

Absolutely yes to this. Except to take it a step further to make it fair to all classes (which I see other people have mentioned,) I personally miss the concept of weapon sets from Guild Wars 1.

Suggestion:

Weapon sets on the equipment screen, all classes able to switch between them out of combat, the other classes already able can still switch during combat – maybe start with two sets for all to keep things like it is for now and allow more sets to be unlocked/purchased for gems.

I’m also on Verizon in the NYC area and am experiencing this issue.
Instead of setting up a VPN, try this workaround:
Edit C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts using notepad (run as administrator)
Add this line at the bottom:
174.35.56.164 assetcdn.101.arenanetworks.com
Save the file. If Notepad prompts you to save as a new file, you need to start over and run Notepad as administrator.
If you have the GW2 launcher already open, restart it. If this still doesn’t help, you may need to change the address above and try a different number (e.g. assetcdn.102.etc..).
You may want to remove this line later when (if?) they resolve the networking issue.
Good luck!

I logged on here just to thank you hugely for this. I was ready to throw things, but now it’s working thanks to your workaround. I hope they resolve this issue, but until then – THANK YOU.

"In Tune" - Bugged achievement

If you’re careful, you can do it just fine without afk’ing. I watched my combat log the entire time to ensure I never did 0 damage to anything from being improperly tuned. Use a single target attack, never use anything with lingering effects, don’t be afraid to be slow so long as you’re helping, and you’ll be fine.

If your map’s disappointment isn’t enough incentive to not afk, people have fun dragging things to the door to try to down those that are hiding. You’ll feel better if you participate.

It’s not bugged, it’s just non-specific in regards to the requirements.

You cannot go down AT ALL during the entire fight. Not from any attack.

I thought it was bugged, too, until I had a perfect run and got credit for both In Tune and No More Tricks. Just watch your attacks and never, ever let yourself get downed.

Downed State/Leaving Combat in Holo Fight?

Archdruidess.5143

Does anyone know how going into downed state and leaving combat during the Holo fight affects the “In Tune” and “No More Tricks, Scarlet” achievement?

Obviously getting downed by the laser is a no-no, but how about the bump fields, or any of the P2 attacks/torment/toxic shoot thingers/etc.?

I ask this because I cannot figure out why I’m not getting my “In Tune” achievement, specifically. I have been incredibly careful, auto-attack off (I’m an Elementalist – was advised to use scepter lightning #1,) watching the combat log to ensure there are no 0 damage instances, watching for the little icon that shows up if you hit something with the wrong attunement, avoiding casting any AoE whatsoever, and so on. I have tried participating only in P1, only in P1 and P3, doing all phases carefully… I have done this likely 20 or more times, and nothing.

There are a few times I’m pretty sure I didn’t run into any lasers, but I’ve spawned into so many right off the bat, I’ve frustratedly lost track of what I’ve done for the “No More Tricks, Scarlet”.

I’m trying to figure out if I’m still doing something wrong, so I’d like to see if anyone has anything to say about other factors of the fight. Going into downed state and leaving combat are the two that crossed my mind… anyone know?

Thanks for the post addressing these issues.

Is going into downed state an issue for either “In Tune” or “No More Tricks, Scarlet”? (Not from the laser, that one’s a given.)

Separately, I’m still having issues getting either of those achievements to trigger after a ton of attempts. I’ve carefully watched my combat log along with my tune timer, and swear I’d always been correctly tuned. Nowhere in my combat log did I hit anything for 0 damage on more than one occasion, yet I didn’t get the achievement. I’m incredibly frustrated by these achievements.

Prime Hologram fight + concerns

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Posted by: Archdruidess.5143

Archdruidess.5143

I wanted to try to constructively share my problems/issues/bugs in achievement-chasing during the Prime Hologram fight:

The first two times I did the fight, the second I zoned in to the area, I landed right in the middle of the floor laser scorch line thing and was insta-downed. My chances at the “No More Tricks, Scarlet” achievement were over before I could even start. Twice. The third time I tried the fight, the second I zoned in I got the bug (along with about 5 others) where I was stuck in the air in the falling animation. Mist form, teleporting, dodging, activated dodge skills, nothing worked. The only thing that got me moving again was, yep, getting hit by the laser to downed state. (I’m also really sure I did the In Tune requirements correctly, but got no credit… but I’m not 100% sure on that so I’ll keep trying.)

Finally, concern-wise, I’m wondering how long people will be trying for the “Six Minutes to Knightfall” achievement, as the strategies I’ve seen so far involve splitting up… which has led to some unfriendly comments about getting all the Knights’ loot being more important than working toward the achievement.

That being said, I really enjoyed the story that came from this update! I was SO sad the day Lion’s Arch was attacked so it feels good to get to fight for the city. And that final cutscene…

I have been experiencing the same thing since the Fractured update (making it nearly impossible to actually do Fractals for said update.) I’ve never had problems like this before. The last two days it’s been especially bad. Sometimes it just disconnects me instantly with the error, other times I’ll get skill lag/freeze or my ability to use chat will freeze beforehand.

EDIT: This last time it happened and I logged back in, it started loading the LA load screen – except my character is in Plains of Ashford. It blipped back to the Ashford load screen after a moment or two, but… what? Then shortly after it d/c’d me again and I couldn’t even log in. I also couldn’t access these forums, as the GW2 website wouldn’t load at all. Summary of Fractal Issues and Bugs

During the Mai Trinn fight earlier, suddenly all of my AoE circles disappeared… and I was suddenly taking no damage from anything. I stood in the middle of cannon blasts during the cannon phase and was unaffected. However, I was successfully damaging Mai, and able to aid downed party members. During a test wipe (me still up since I couldn’t die), the boss ignored me and my attacks completely and reset. I attempted to suicide off the side of the fractal, but instead fell healthily the entire way down the rocks and, after a few should-have-killed-me leaps, into the water far below.

I believe shortly after another in my group bugged and was unable to even move her character. We had to give up and quit.

Queen's Gauntlet Farmers and (not) Reviving

in Queen's Jubilee

Posted by: Archdruidess.5143

Archdruidess.5143

I can’t believe OP is actually complaining that he can’t farm fast enough because people aren’t reviving him. The entire point of the farming is not to fail and repeat until you run out of tickets, not fail repeatedly and get upset no one wants to revive you.

What? I’m not a farmer and I never mentioned anything about farming anything fast enough. (Also not “he” but that’s beside the point.) I am in fact working my way through the encounters for the first time as best/quickly as my time allows (Coincidentally, I’ll be fighting DED next.) Given the angry farmers in here, I’m still thinking everyone and their mother took my post as a personal attack against farming.

Let me make my point one more time: I believe ANet had a certain mechanic in mind when they made this event and I firmly believe that friendly res’ing was a part of their design. They have always encouraged the community to help each other – this is something that set GW2 above other MMOs in my eyes. But the gauntlet farming changed the way the event goes (this is not the players’ fault, mind you – it just happened,) there are some awkward things that make it lack flow, and the penalty is doubled both in silver and more importantly time if people don’t help/there’s no one around to help, and, as you can see by some posts in this thread, there are rude individuals who get a serious case of the nasties when you go near “their” dome.

Farmers – I do not expect you to res me. I have been very courteous to farmers when I see them, generally leaving them alone or asking to make sure that’s what they’re doing (if I see someone actually die to DED). I do not expect you to stop farming. I do not think my time is more important than yours.

But I do think my time IS important. It’s important to me… and to waste it running back up to the dome every time is frustrating. To waste it looking for an overflow where there is a dome that has no farmers is frustrating. (They all seem to be someone’s farming dome lately.) And to you who don’t agree and think I’m lazy – you live my life and see how your gaming priorities change when you’re me – I don’t call you lazy for not helping to res and calling res’ing a time waster, don’t call me lazy because I feel a run back and overflow search is pointless and a time waster.

I do not – and let me repeat this – I do not expect the players to fix this. I know some of this thread got hijacked into a farmers vs. others fight, but in my opinion, this is something only ANet can reroute. That was my point – To show something I found frustrating, to explain why, and to offer a suggestion to fix it. I hope this thread and the arguing within can help show some of the problems this is causing.

Queen's Gauntlet Farmers and (not) Reviving

in Queen's Jubilee

Posted by: Archdruidess.5143

Archdruidess.5143

I think my point is getting missed and run off with. Again, my post was to focus on how it would be awesome to take the res’ing out of the hands of players altogether to save everyone the headache because it seems circumstance changed the intended mechanic of this part of the event.

Really didn’t intend for this to become a giant bitter flame war about whose time and gold is more important and who’s lazy and whose a horrible player and who has rights and who should be expected to help who.

To sum up: The event was supposed to work one way, and for a while it did. Other factors happened and now that way doesn’t work as I’m pretty sure it was intended. It is my belief this can be fixed by an alternate way to res right outside the dome for smooth continuation of gameplay, minimizing the penalty cost and allowing everyone to continue farming gold or pursuing achieves/swearing at Liadri and having fun in their own preferred way.

That being said, I’m curious how ANet feels about the callous abandonment of the sense of community they strive to create, because wow. Some of these responses have been pretty scathing and self-important.

Queen's Gauntlet Farmers and (not) Reviving

in Queen's Jubilee

Posted by: Archdruidess.5143

Archdruidess.5143

I think what happened here is that DED farmers took my post personally. This isn’t about achievement hunters vs. DED farmers and whose time is more valuable and who saves what… My post is about the flawed mechanics of this event wasting time. It’s not about people being selfish (rude is another story), it’s about the game’s mechanics wasting people’s time and money because of a change in the use of this event that was not anticipated.

I am a casual player. I don’t have time to sit around and farm money to make the double hit of repairs/waypoint null. I am not so awesome a player that I can just beat Liadri in one go – If you want to laugh at me and call me selfish concerning my time because my family and job make it so that I can’t play as much, have much less gold than the average player, and have to really research to follow some of the guides… but actually want to put forth the effort, then go ahead. (Please also note I am not calling for a nerf of this event – I want to work to beat it.) It’s just I am a different player demographic than those of you who are telling me I’m selfish and that I should just use my time to farm gold. That isn’t fun for me and I don’t want to do it. Try to look beyond yourself and think of people who have a different gamer-life than you.

So, again, let me be clear: I did not make my post to show how selfish DED farmers are. Go ahead and farm and make money – that’s great! My post is to show that the way this event works ends up wasting time and gold that I do not believe was originally intended. Ideally, I would like for no one’s time to be “wasted” and have the NPC res, or have a res-on-defeat-with-armor-damage.

Queen's Gauntlet Farmers and (not) Reviving

in Queen's Jubilee

Posted by: Archdruidess.5143

Archdruidess.5143

It’s about the mechanic of the whole thing, Iaokoko. My post was not to launch an attack on DED farmers. The event was supposed to work a certain way – this one being pretty dependent on other people to get you back up if you lose a match; the repair bill being a minor gold sink – and circumstances arose that added in some additional factors – DED farming and a lesser crowd at the domes.

My gaming experience is just as important as the farmers. I’m not saying that anyone should stop farming – as I said in the original post, I’m fine with that. What I’m not fine with is (aside from some of the rudeness I’ve experienced) that this new circumstance is making the initial mechanic difficult.

You lose a fight… you are downed. You are depending on someone else to res you and you take an armor hit. If no one is around/willing to res you, you waypoint back and have to repair your armor, then have to spend time running all the way back up to the dome. Every time. That is incredibly frustrating and not overly worth it – something that is disheartening for an achievement hunter.

I’m simply not sure this was an anticipated thing for this event.

Queen's Gauntlet Farmers and (not) Reviving

in Queen's Jubilee

Posted by: Archdruidess.5143

Archdruidess.5143

My experience doing the Queen’s Gauntlet this week has degraded.

In the beginning, there was that old camaraderie – people reviving one another, sharing verbal frustration about bosses, and then joy when finally beating the one they’d been stuck on.

Now, however – today in particular, and this overflow I’m in being filled at every station – there is an abundance of Deadeye Dunwell farmers. That in itself doesn’t bother me… What bothers me is that these people generally will not revive me after I lose a match because they want the dome all to themselves. I even had a few tell me to shut up when I asked politely for a revive.

So if I want to keep going with the Queen’s Gauntlet, that leaves me wasting time trying to find an overflow without farmers so that I’m not wasting money on repair bills AND waypoint costs because my corpse just sits there waiting for another chance.

Perhaps a simple res-upon-defeat would fix this? Is anyone else experiencing this? I’m supremely frustrated.

I never want this event to end! I was frustrated with the Halloween jumping puzzle, but the Winter Wonderland jumping puzzle is perfect for me. It has become my favorite jumping puzzle in the game so far! It was the perfect challenging difficulty for my personal skill level.

I also usually dislike PvP, but I really loved the Snowball Mayhem… It was fun and I felt good because I actually understood the strategies quickly and was actually good at it. The bell choir is quite clever and was also challenging and tons of fun. I’m jealous of my guildie who got a perma-bell!

The only achievement I’ve yet to obtain is the Toypocalypse Cancelled… and I’m working on it.

I just wanted to give some positive feedback because (aside from the fact that you often get lambasted with negativity) you addressed many of the things that frustrated me about the Halloween and Karka events – I was not stressing about missing anything due to life and work; The jumping puzzle was not overcrowded due to the three paths, so I was not bothered by jumping with other players; And I only ran into a couple minor bugs. Thanks for the fun! Definitely helped my holiday mood. You made this player very happy!

Dungeons / Jumping Puzzles

in Suggestions

Posted by: Archdruidess.5143

Archdruidess.5143

I’m putting this both into one thread because the second suggestion is really simple.

Firstly, concerning dungeons, specifically explorable mode:

I wanted to suggest that there be a way to allow a group of more than 5 to enter explorable mode. My guild was often frustrated that the “dungeon nights” that we ran were limited to a team or two of 5… we always had an odd number of people, and not everyone could come.

You have done an amazing thing with the scaling of events, mobs, and areas… could the same idea be applied to this aspect of the dungeons? Say for example you only have 5 people – great. You can play the explorable mode as normal. But if you have more people (say a range of between 5 and 20 people, for example,) the dungeon scales upward to account for a larger number of people. That way you can have a similar experience, parallel difficulty, and allow a greater participation of guild members.

I suggest this because my guild was always looking for things to do together, but were frustrated by the fact that many things seemed limited to only 5 people together.

The second suggestions is about the jumping puzzle rewards. Having just finished Scavenger’s Chasm in Malchor’s Leap, I was incredibly disappointed by the chest rewards. After the amount of work and frustration that was put into completing that puzzle, I couldn’t help but feel that, outside from the first-time achievement, it was a waste of time. I did not have fun and did not feel rewarded for my time. I didn’t even make back the money I lost from dying multiple times and falling through the terrain and getting stuck in a glitch and having to waypoint out. I guess I expected a little better reward from something so difficult in a higher level area.

Perhaps have a first-time opening of a chest give better rewards, and save the lesser loot for return visits, if anything? It would be nice if there was an incentive to do jumping puzzles more than once.

I really like this idea, too. Donating to the guild directly is psychologically different – you are taking money directly from a total you can see as opposed to money flying into the guild bank before it ever reaches your money total… it’s like money you never had to begin with.

It’s a great way to have guild funds to deal with repairs from things like Explorable Dungeons.
