These right here. I would add pink to the list but the purple we have is already kinda pinkish.
It just sounds like you want the prestigious PvP wings without putting any effort into the PvP part of it then.
Exactly what I was thinking.
…Why are people getting mad that they’re taking the time and effort to fix a game breaking bug… Do you guys even listen to yourselves?
Remember when people used to rage about hambow and mace-shield being OP? Those were the days…
I understand wanting us to “progress” our characters to get our specs, but I’m never going to play my engie in WvW, ever. Probably not even after I eventually get scrapper. My guild needs my warrior, or my guard, or my elementalist etc, so I wont be crippling our comp just to “progress” my engie.
I feel like Anet doesn’t understand the amount of time that WvW guilds spend actually in WvW. We have points to maintain, we have scheduled raids etc, so if I can put the time I spend running around in WvW on my warrior to use on a character I can’t take the time on, that’s extremely helpful.
Really though, I can get over the soulbound factor, I think what bugs me the most is that they just take up another dang slot in my inventory instead of being a normal currency. A character wallet for soulbound currency like this would be nice.
I hope this isn’t something that has been talked about recently, but it’s impossible for me to search the forum to find out.
Wouldn’t an easy way to put tribal armor back in the game just be a reward track? Just make it like the glorious reward track and poof, done. It’s a pvp reward again.
I wasn’t quite sure how to put the title, but I want to know if anyone else feels the way I do about the way the personal story is now given to you.
I have leveled 3 characters to max and taken them through all if not most of the story. When I was leveling I always felt like I was working towards that next story step, and it always told me what the next step was AND what it’s level was. I was always excited to get to that story,. I had a goal to get to the level required to see what happened next.
I have been helping a friend level who is basically completely new to the game, and the story behind your character/race/culture just feels…. gone. You are basically thrown into a world with no goal besides “oh hey… a heart…” and expected to enjoy yourself until level 10 (or whatever the next story chunk is at) while receiving no story or reason behind who you are and what you’re doing. Then when you GET to your story you zip through it and go “wait where’s the rest? what happens next? I finally had story!” The fact that it’s all the same level means that you just jump from chunk to chunk of story rather than working your way through the whole experience of the game. It doesn’t even tell you that you have a chunk of story coming up, everything about the story disappears until you hit the right level. The story doesn’t guide you through the game anymore. As someone who has played through the story quite a bit, I felt lost when starting a new character and having no story to clearly work towards.
If this game had regular quests this new grouping wouldn’t be a big deal, but the way the hearts work means that you don’t interact with npcs that often or even talk to people. If you had to go up to people and talk to them about doing things it would give you information and at least somewhat of a purpose. The gw2 hearts simply tell you what the people in the area need, nothing else. (Don’t take this the wrong way, I do love how the hearts work, they just don’t work with the new story grouping.)
Granted, this may not matter to those who just care about the end game, but I know there are others like me who love the lore and story this game has to offer, and I do not believe this is how it should be presented to the players. The way the story was set up before may have been a little odd (I never thought it was, but apparently someone wanted it changed), but it helped you through your leveling by constantly giving you a clear goal/guide.
There is no incentive for vets like me to roll and alt.
Just how ‘vet’ are you? If you’ve played for over a year, you should have a few Experience Scroll items to take your new Engi immediately up to level 20, which will get you some kits.
Doesn’t mean it’s not a dumb change.
Dragonbrand, and sorry I would join but it’s nice to not have to jump between guild reps anymore XD
I imagine that race-specific cultural sets are easier to make than crafted/karma/dungeon or the ones in the Gem store.
The latter have to to be tailored so that the look well and can be proportioned correctly for all 5 races with both genders and every body type in between.
Race-specific ones can be tailored to the specific race that can equip them, which allows the design to be more focused and gives more room for experimentation without having to take four more races into account.
Huh, I’ve never thought of this before. You have a good point, it probably is easier to make armor that doesn’t have to have the exact same look on all races.
Good luck, a friend and I tried setting up a charr guild not long ago, we had to go across servers to get more than 10 people. Hope it works out for you
I feel like this needs a code word so anyone who’s seen this knows that this is what people are doing when they start saying weird things XD
I love the third option! It really has a pop to it, if only the face could have some of the body markings/coloration.
….There are several hair styles for both male norns and humans that go past shoulder length, but I do understand the want for better long styles (current ones are a little lame), especially a decent ponytail.
Having played all three father lines I would personally recommend the shaman father. When it comes to Legions, I can’t really say, it comes down to your personal taste on what “play style” fits you or your character. I think they are all equally good and have enjoyed all 3.
And what about the human character yelling the name of the chosen god during certain skills/boons/actions? Or is it just coincidence? I’ve picked Dwayna for my warrior and he keeps calling her name, so does my necro with Grenth and elementalist with Balthazar. Also same thing do norn characters with totemic spirits and charr with legions (although that one effects the story).
Human ele’s yell balthazar for fire no matter what god is chosen, same for what other classes yell. My ele’s god is Melandru and I constantly hear about Grenth’s “icy embrace” and the “fires of Balthazar.” Not a word about Melandru.
Classes have set yells that relate to race/race lore, has nothing to do with character choice.
As far as “warbands” go, I was invited to a warband not long after I joined the guild. My “legionnaire” then told me that I’d need to buy a name change contract to match the legionnaire’s. Additionally, I had to take a week or two off from the game to deal with some RL, and when I came back, was told that I needed to let the legionnaire know whenever I was going to leave like that.
If those are the guild’s policies, well, you can see why I wasn’t too broken up about being kicked, nor made any attempt to get re-invited.
…..O.o this should not have happened. I know which legionnaire this was and I can assure you that if I had known he was trying to do this I would have dealt with him immediately. It was in no way guild policy OR acceptable. He is also no longer in the guild, nor do I plan on getting him back.
I apologize for his behavior, and if he was still in the guild this would be thoroughly dealt with.
Dr and I basically did a mass kicking. Out of 47 people in the guild I only had 3 (I believe you two being 2 of the 3) people contact me about warbands, which told me that the numbers we had weren’t going to be really doing anything outside of sitting in the guild and then later leaving because “nothing was going on.”
The fact that you two are the only two to say anything about the kicking also tells me that you’re the only two who have really been paying attention to the guild XD if you want invited back I can re-invite you, but we aren’t going to be doing any recruiting anymore(maybe try to get things back up in the summer, MAYBE). I currently do not have the time to try to run things with so few people trying to participate with warbands and such. (which really all people had to do was just pick a name and say “hey make me a part of this group!” and we would have been good, but apparently that was too hard)
I should have sent messages beforehand, but I wanted to see who was even paying attention to the group. I’m totally up for actually doing things with the guild, but I needed some participation from the other side, which I wasn’t getting. At the moment the guild has been converted to just a hang out with friends guild.
I remember the fire being a part of the street rat story…. O.o
Though maybe it was bugged for me too somehow.
EDIT: After looking stuff up on the wiki I’ve found that it was bugged for me as well. I didn’t skip any of the street rat steps but I got the orphanage/hospital option thrown in before my street rat option. I never noticed it because I did actually do the story step somehow.
(edited by Ashes.9586)
Greatswords look like they’re way too low on the back though, pretty sure those could be lifted at least a little bit.
I’ve never considered this before… Just figured that they city would get opened somehow.
But this theory…. I like it… I like it a lot. If this is what they’ve had up their sleeves in the works this whole time, I will go crazy happy.
Doubt the face will ever appear as a playable option. Important NPC’s tend to have unique faces.
Hair definitely seems possible, though. We’ve gotten Majory’s hair, Braham’s hair, and Rox’ hair. NPC hairstyles don’t seem “off-limits” like the faces are.
I like Taimi’s hair. I don’t actually have a female Asura anyway, but if I ever made one I could see using it.
I’m also waiting for Scarlet’s hair too TC.
Well we did get an what is basically an edited version of Rox’s face, maybe we’ll get edited versions of the other npc faces eventually.
I just made my first charr, I would love to join your guild.
Oh! A charr guild! That’s excellent! I simply love this race when I first saw them in the previews. And I’m not disappointed!
I hope I can join! I have a couple charrs (one was deleted but will never be missed <3 She was my first level 80 engineer). My main toon that I play often is a level 80 charr guardian that goes by the name Mrava Bloodclaw~ I have an engineer that I’m leveling up.My server is Yak’s Bend, but I’ll always be happy to report to duty!
/salute
I will send you both invites as soon as my internet stops being goofy long enough for me to play
Welcome to the Legion
Are we getting a Tier 4 Armor Set soon? I’m very interested in something even more expensive and exclusive than the Tier 3. Something worth between 500-1000g.
Woaaaah there buddy, that’s just a bit too much gold there. Talk about exclusive.
100-200 would be PLENTY. Even 100 gold would be over the current gold cost of a gem store set of armor skins (around 73 gold I believe at the moment).
I get that, Ashes! Shanna’s post¹ was laced with evocative wording though, giving me an impression I had to ask clarification about. Just a straw poll in this thread shows that the minority dislikes the new animations, a good portion is ambivalent, while the majority likes it.
¹ “Eh, if you really played a female human most of your time in this game you would feel/see/whatever the difference and a lot of people really don’t like it.” (emphasis mine)
And what they said is true, I don’t understand where you are pulling this horrible offense from. I’ve run into very few people who have mained a human female for forever and like the change. Most of the people who like it seem to be newer players.
All they said was that if you had played for a long time you would noticed, and that a lot of people don’t like it. which is true. They never claimed anything about those people having more important opinions or even that most people like or dislike the change. They just stated a fact.
What has length of time played got to do with anything? Are you saying people who have played a female human since beta are more qualified to have an opinion on the matter? Are you saying they have the only correct opinion?
It’s not about having a “correct” or “better” opinion, it’s about some people being used to something and then having it changed. People who have played female human characters more/longer are going to be the ones who really noticed the change. People like myself who haven’t played human until recently will generally hardly notice anything.
In regards to Anet having fully made the dominion of winds, I believe WP talks about it in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvUa_KY2Fqo
Forgive me if I have linked the wrong one but my internet is crap right now so I can’t watch it to confirm it. (I know he’s talked about it, just hope this is the right video)
He is talking about the PvP-Version of the Masquerade-Armor. It has a uniqe skin: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/PvP_Masquerade_armor
Maybe it will be available in PvE later, when you can earn PvE-Skins in PvP (it was announced).
Ah, I know this armor as “Tribal” armor. It’s what I’ve seen it named as in gw2 armor galleries.
O.o since when is it restricted?
Don’t Charr (and Asura, maybe?) thieves lose the nifty little shadow-step animation when dodging? That could be part of it.
Sure, in the grand scheme of things its a minor thing and all, but its still a neat class-specific detail that you lose out on.
No they don’t, they don’t lose out on anything, aside from a wider array of goodlooking armors.
Hmm. Perhaps its just Asura that do, then. I know I remember reading that some race doesn’t have it at some point. Or maybe its just been fixed since then.
It got fixed.
Well Eir never had to get a permit to work with Snaff and Zojja there in Edge of Destiny, nor did the rest of the gang when they went back there. What exactly does the NPC say?
It honestly looks like a glitch rather than something they intended to me, considering it’s the new faces.
Given the comment about appealing to everyone, if they were going to create another cultural set, you can bet they’d want to do it for all races, so that’d be a pretty big undertaking (3 armor sets, one for each weight class, x5 races, and doubled for human / sylvari / norn due to male / female differences, so you’re talking 40 sets of armor give or take depending on how different the genders are).
True, but it would also be pretty easy to cut down on that number/work load.
1: Limit the differences or have no difference between male and female versions on races that require them.
2: Make the same set for all armor types or with very little differences. That cuts down most if not all of the work and shouldn’t be too hard to do.
If they were to do this it would mean only 5 armor sets would need to be created. Or if they did the three armor types 15 sets. OR if they did one skin for all armor types but did male and female versions, 10. It seems like they should have enough people to assign one person per race to make any of the possible work limiting combinations, they keep making auction house skins after all.
And like other people have said the NPC skins would be a really quick fix, everyone wants them already and they wouldn’t have to make completely new sets.
For those who wanted a comparison between the old one and the new one!

Thank you for posting this, I was never able to tell what people were talking about when the posts about the change started showing up. Even watching the video it’s hard for me to see the difference unless I only watch the arms.
They could just release racial armor that changes depending on what race is wearing it, kinda like how the chef skin changes if a charr is wearing it.
Well, I’ve finally decided to join a guild, and there’s none I’d rather be in than a Charr guild. If you’ll take me, of course. I have three Charr: an ele and an engi around 30, and a Guardian just under 60. Also, I am on Dragonbrand.
Welcome to the Legion
I thought it was odd my male Sylvari had a gigantic backside. But I doubt they will ever fix this. The Charr still have stretched textures and a lack of tail holes.
But the reason they’ll never fix Charr is because they’re the least played race, as indirectly stated by some Anet dude. Pretty sure a lot of people play Sylvari though. :O
You really think being the least played race makes ignoring issues acceptable?
Hate to tell you but the sylvari aren’t really ahead of charr, they’re just right above charr in most played race. https://d3b4yo2b5lbfy.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/1c2c9GW2_Anniv_Infographic-590x3215.jpg
So by that chart, everything except human and maybe norn is gonna get ignored.
Pink, since blue is the stereotypical Guardian color.
It’s a warrior not a guardian though…
Ive heard about this but cant pin whats different. Can you explain or have video link by chance?
Same here, though I might have just never played my human enough to notice whatever change has taken place.
Sorry for the late response, been a busy holiday, sending you all invites now
Welcome to the Legion.
Could it be one of the toxic dyes?
I’d like to join if you don’t mind having another Engineer under the belt of your Legion. A bit low level due to recently remaking my character, but should be back up to Lv. 80 real soon!
Can always use another Engineer, welcome to the Legion
Id love to join. its cool to see a guild like this has been made. I’m on fort aspenwood and have a charr of almost ever profession (missing the mesmer). 3 level 80s, 2 40s, and 2 other low levels. not really one for WvWvW and PvP but I’ll run dungeons and fractals, though mostly just normal PvE.
main character
lvl80 Warrior Kadence Blitzclaw
Sending you an invite now, welcome to the Legion
….He terrifies me…. O.O
I think the Asura have the best dance animation. The Charr one almost needs to be around a campfire with tribal music to feel like you’re dancing XD
Shoot me an invite if you don’t mind. I’d love to join!
Welcome to the Legion
One thing that would be different if charr armour would be the female sort sometimes is that we would get rid of a bunch of coats (and by thet the tailclipping as well). It doesn’t ave to be the girly-girly kind or armour… juet less “tents” hanging over our legs. As most of male medium and light armour do….
Considering the female versions of medium armor are pretty much exactly the same as the male versions on the other races I don’t quite see why they would bother making completely new versions for charr.
http://www.gw2armorgallery.com/human-medium.htm
The same applies to light armor in that if the males have a skirt the females at least have a different version of the skirt.
http://www.gw2armorgallery.com/human-light.htm
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/races/norn/Norn-female-voices/first <Previous thread about this, it’s a nice discussion.
I feel like it lacks emotion way too often, I understand what they were trying to do but it sounds lifeless in most of the cutscenes to me.
The starter town clothes are exactly the same and as far as I have previewed so are all the gemstore town clothes.
As far as the different hairstyles etc are concerned I’m pretty sure that’s just due to needing to have some differences in character creation, not lore reasons. But from what I have observed the females have no problem with stating they are female through different horns and hair. It’s kinda like saying “yeah I’m a girl, I’ll still kick your tail.”
