Sure! If you use a greatsword…
Why don't transmute stones allow us to look the way we want?

-It’s not about limiting customization.
-It’s not about preventing classes from wearing incorrect, absurd or mismatched armor.
-It’s about art. It would limit the artist to have to make sure all heavy armor could fit with all cloth armor with limited clipping.
I’m willing to be the artists wish we didn’t have as much customization as we already do because it means it makes it really challenging to create really unique designs.
In depth:
Heavy armor tends to have bulky segmented pieces while cloth and medium armor tend to have longer flowy armor. Most heavy armor boots would flip through medium or light armor leggings.
You clearly have never tried mixing and matching sets or you’d notice how ill fitted a great deal of it is to itself within the same armor type…
Anyway as for what the OP is talking about I’m all for it. I actually use metallic short gauntlet looking armor on my Ranger that thankfully is classed medium because I like the look a great deal.
More chances to create unique looks like that would be appreciated.
Generally always play Female in MMOs (Except SWTOR because of the heavy emphasis on RPing)because I like to have something nice to look at. As for being human well…I hate the Norn Female Voice…Charrs and Asura have extremely bland male armor and being a plant doesn’t really do it for me.
So I’m left with human. If they’d make Largos playable I’d go with that in a heartbeat though!
As others have said its bugged…I’ve gotten it before in a perfectly open field with the only “obstruction” being some grass on the ground…
Cities and the home instance continue to be useless…No big surprise there.
I don’t much care either way as I don’t go near the gem store, but from a purely business standpoint it seems rather daft to put such a limitation on the cash shop items. It just feels like for what could be their main money maker they’re shooting themselves in the foot for no good reason?
Here’s the Greatwas in motion
it has a nice animation, but no blood spatters
Thanks for the vid but this is quickly feeling like legendaries 2.0 with the great sword having massively more effort put into it compared to everything else…meh…
Wow that was…cute…
Yea I read through and got to the profession part and was like “Oooo look at all these changes…Ok so where is ranger…ranger…ranger…Where is Ranger?” facedesk
Pretty much if you want a decent selection of non-bulky near full covered armor for females you have to roll light…
I don’t think ALL armor needs to be skimpy (Like say TERA) but at least even out the ratio of bulky to revealing armors a slight bit more?
WoWs phasing changes the world in a more meaningful way then any DE in GW2 does…Just sayin’.
I like GW2 as a game overall but I think they stopped a bit short in their ambitions with Orr being a pretty blatant example…Just waiting and watching now to see where they take things from here.
<3 Human cultural T3.
Hope in the future we get more snug armor like it and less bulky coats!
What would you prefer, having an open beta for several months so people can beta test the end-game content, just for it all to get wiped afterwards? Don’t be silly.
I would muuuuuch rather play a game that is still in the process of refinement than to beta test all the content in the game for a few months and then get it all wiped before release.
Pfft I know right who needs proper comprehensive beta testing when we can just have weekend only ones with a level cap that amount to little more then PR stunts amirite fellas?
At this point I’d just be happy if they reverted this “fix”.
As a class we have numerous problems, but in the interim just restoring things back to the way they were would go a long way to proving you care at this point Anet…
Kinda sad really that we are at the point that simply fixing your own muck up would give me a modicum of joy. Is that really the standard you want to place yourself at guys?
“Spamming” Our auto attack? Which happens to be the only kitten skill on the SB that does damage? Forgive me for saying so but what the hell are you people smoking at Anet!
So what do you purpose I use more? The cripple? The low Damage Poison? The Jump Back? The stun?
Seriously if you want to see more variety then you yourselves need to fix the weapon not kitten on the players for your own bad design. At the very least why couldn’t you just lower the damage instead of the attack speed? One of the most fun things about SB was the crazy fast attack and now we don’t even have that…
The apologists in this thread give me a good laugh. Thank you for that.
I especially liked the only “Less then 1% of content is bugged” one. Hahaha…hah.a…hah… sobs
Oh well the only saving grace of the game is its payment model allows me to walk away from the game guilt free and wait for them to fix all of the bugs and poor gameplay decisions. Look forward to what the game looks like by next year.
It really is a shame because it eliminates one of the major things to play the game for day after day…I’m sure Anet is having a laugh over their pony bow, but it just makes me sad that they had to play a joke with something as important as this.
For now just saving mats in the hope that they’ll be more legendaries in the future that actually suit Ranger/Thieves because rainbows really don’t in any way…Are their even any horses in Tyria?
Trahearne: I personally find him to be probably worst character. :SPOILERS:
Posted by: Ashlotte.3719
The character shouldn’t be the special snowflake savior of Tyria- but he/she really should be the focus around which the personal story revolves. That’s basic Game Mastering 101: the player(s) are always in the foreground, because it’s their story.
What worries me is that before Claw Island the personal story was great, Why the jarring change? We must remember this was produced, storyborded, voice acting dialog was written, etc… dozens of people at the very least. How is it no one caught that? In fact you are constantly reminded of how awesome Tree Boy is.. CONSTANTLY. Not because he did something amazing, but because other NPCs tell you he is. Why do that? why go out of the way to hammer it in you’re the lackey to a chosen one? If it wasn’t a story about my PC being the hero why sacrifice my mentor… its actually pointless.
One possibility for needing to taking down the PC is to preserve whatever story they’re writing for future books. They would need to mention a name instead of the generic “Commander” we all can be in-game. I find it hard to understand why they would gut the player’s experience to favor a published a book though. The main media of the universe IS the game, so why sacrifice an integral part of the game for that?
The other possibility I can think of is that it must have been someone high up in the company (probably someone very excited about Sylvari) that made the decision to ram Tree Boy down our throats… first born of a race born to save the planet… bleh. My “someone high up” theory is what worries me, if that is indeed the case then its unlikely we can expect any change in future content, and would in fact expect Tree Boy to be a permanent fixture in our story
Considering how much they gushed about Sylvari in their one video about them I wouldn’t be suprised with that last theory…
Honestly to me I find Sylvari in general to be the weakest aspect of GW2 as a whole. Some of them like Sieran were done well, but so many more of them just feel so very weak as characters being a newborn race and all.
As I mentioned in another topic, there’s an even more egregious example of this that comes up with Laranthir. I did a number of missions with him, and in the next story step, Trahearne introduces him to me with both of us acting as though it’s our first time meeting each other. :-/
Doesn’t really suprise me as theirs utterly no connection between story segments. Nothing flows its just a chopped up mess that eventually gets blended together into the same ending for everyone.
This game certainly stands as one of the finest examples of “Illusion of Choice” when it comes to the personal story.
Just another thing that makes Orr annoying as hell…
But yea I’ve noticed this. I have a tendency when I’m hanging around dungeon entrances of sicking my pet on random enemies lingering around without attacking them myself and without fail undead always make a beeline straight for me with the other types just staying on the pet.
Ashlotte in TA story all boss encounters occur in fairly open chambers that allow for kiting. Which one’s were you having difficulties with? The respawing plants are annoying, but they are on paths to destinations, and you generally don’t need to kite near them. Even the hound patrols can be grouped nicely on the bridge with wards (if you have a guardian) or other snares if you don’t. I play a guardian and focus on warding/control skills and most trash, when I’m prepared for it, is easily corralled
Kite what the boss is stationary. If your talking about the one variation of him that spawns adds I still don’t think its much room as you can only kite in circles for the most part.
Beyond that most of the trash packs on all routes are in narrowish corridors more times then not infested with annoying plants.
It’s not impossible to deal with mind you I just don’t get why dungeons in general feel so claustrophobic. Why can’t Anet infuse them with some of the expansive epic feeling that they gave to the open world? I’d love to turn a corner and be really blown away by some sight instead of having to fight everything in small little confined areas.
Yea it doesn’t make any sense why something as simple as letting us change where skills are for weapons like we can do with every other kind of skill wasn’t implemented…
The biggest problem I have so far with dungeons is the utter lack of room to move. You can talk about kiting and short term CC to make up for the lack of tanking in the game but none of that means anything if you have no room to barley even dodge in.
Granted I’ve only done TA, CM, and Arah but they all have this problem…TA with its narrow corridors and stupid fast respawning plants…CM with its absurdly tight indoor areas and caves…And Arah with its annoyingly narrow deck of the airship.
It all just feels too confined. I doubt Anet will go back through and open these areas up more, but it would go a long way to making the mechanics of evading and dancing around mobs much more enjoyable.
Ranger 80
Before Claw Island? 9/10 (Occasionally broken DE made me sad…)
After Claw Island? 4/10
Lost all interest in the personal story even before it bugged out and made me mourn a character I never heard of…Orr was just terrible after awhile and the final dungeon made me profoundly sad.
Hopefully Anet takes a lot from what people have said about the game to heart and makes the later game just as enjoyable as the early stuff was!
Yea…No disrespect to Anet, but getting some generic gear no matter what the level for completing the story and defeating the big bad isn’t exactly a good feeling.
Reminds me of when you finished the final big story planet in SWTOR and all you got was some crummy generic items for saving the planet…Just leaves a sour taste in your mouth you know? (Not that the final “fight” didn’t do that already…).
Its Zhaitan… If you could solo him that would be great, but really stupid. I havn’t made it to 80 yet so Idk what NPCs are actually with you the instance, but it doesn’t matter he is the Elder Dragon. If you could even in theory solo him it would ruin the immersion for so many people.
Trust me the encounter itself ruins the immersion enough. Having it be soloable like the rest of the Personal Story content wouldn’t effect it much.
Honestly the biggest thing I hated about it being a 5 man is some random party member has a chance to represent you in the cutscenes. So not only did I have to deal with the story becoming Trehearne’s near the end, but it literally became someone elses story that you just came a long for because of the cutscenes in the dungeon. THAT is immersion breaking…
(edited by Ashlotte.3719)
They are just flat out terrible. Others have said it before, but I’ll restate for emphasis what I hate about the things…
- The buffs they provide are weak.
- The range of said buffs is too small so this makes the buffs they provide even less useful.
- Thier on use skills are questionably useful and the fact that they have to do a long animation paired with their short range makes them even more useless.
- The fact that you need to constantly re-summon them and said re-summoning has a long cast time makes them feel even more awkward to use.
- Lastly to add insult to injury they have pathetic amounts of health so they barely get a chance to do their pathetic skills or give their useless buffs.
As far as changes they really should just be invulnerable.
The on uses need to be tailored to be more useful for people fighting at range and also be more responsive in general with shorter animation delaying their effects.
The buffs need to be brought up to the level that other buffing abilities in the game are at.
The casting time either needs to be reduced or they need to last longer to make them feel less awkward to use via needing to constantly re-summon them in the middle of a fight.
Just so many things that needs to be changed about them to actually make them “fun”.
This is the same problem as PVE has with regards to event medals and loot…The game as a whole has far too much emphasis placed on DPSing and killing things which is really unfortunate since theirs a lot more nuance to the game beyond simply who can shoot something the hardest…
oh hey. . guess what. you arent required to use travel points.
I don’t believe they were intended to allow immediate travel anywhere. They are there to give you the choice to spend hard earned silver for convenience. And thats what they do.
There should always be a voice in the back of your head saying, “should i just run there?”
Oh hey guess what would be nice to encourage not spamming way-points…Mounts!
Its such a great immersive world I don’t understand why Anet insists on making us rely on the instant teleport system to navigate the world. Also give them something more to stick in the store since gems aren’t worthkitten all right now…
The responsiveness does feel much better now finally. The abilities don’t always go off IMMEDIATELY but you also don’t feel like you have to mash the button constantly.
I still don’t like how long some of the animations are honestly, but I feel like that’s a separate issue.
The only pets that F2 is actually responsive for is Jaguars and Sharks probably because its just a simple self-buff they apply to themselves.
Every single other pet I ever used just refuses to respond much to my frustration and when they finally do use it the animations take forever which is especially bad on some of the drakes that use bouncing attacks as they just spit it out at the air hitting nothing because the mob moved while they did their fancy animation.
Love the combat in this game but pet F2 abilities really hamper the fun of it all.
Mostly interested in TA and CM but I’m willing to do others in exchange and of course willing to swap servers.
