ok so about engi i’ve already replied (if you read previous posts) i dont know engi that well and it might need some help but remember that turret engi is an available build to them. I hardly ever play engi so i’ll let ppl who play them a lot give feedback.
If you have any positive suggestions to balance engi downstate remembering about turret engi plz do so (i’ve edited top post)

About Ele mistform and WvW, maybe you’re right but it might also just be a gimmicky. I play PvE and PvP and the few times i was in WvW i problably did what(problably what you’re refering) those Ele’s do to… _ they’re on the wall attacking with staff_ (i did it sometimes being alone in a fortification) jumpdown on a zerg attacking a gate pop armor of earth + tornado throw everyone around, if dying they cast mist form and go back inside… is that relevant? wouldnt the Ele do a LOT more dmg staying on top of the walls? is that a random/useless trolling/fun he’s having that hardly changes the outcome of those fights? Could Anet prevent that? maybe they could prevent ppl from crossing gates while down but im not sure they really want it or that it’s that relevant.

now remember there’s PvE PvP and WvW and the intent of the post is to balance downstate while maintaining a class peculiarity and identity

To me that Ele Fun is less relevant then ex: necros chain fears trowing zergs of cliffs, permastealth thiefs or mesmers picking out ppl on their way from base in open field (where they can stealth if losing and go away 10 miles in any direction to engage you again after healing) making that guy run all the back from base or have to wait 5 min for a group to show up and go with them.

Again the intention of this post is to give positive ideas/suggestions to balance downstate while maintaining/enhancing class personality and identity!

If you have any suggestions plz lets us know about them!

mesmer and ele 2 are very similar one teleports while stealthing the other drags with the advantage of being able to pick were you want to land but mesmer had lower CD….. 3 does more dmg then ele

im not sure you’ve read/understood the previous posts anyhow, its prone to happen when speed reading

srry i didnt read ur post correctly, for some reason i understood press “f” keyboardkey + flat corresponding musical key….. happens when you spead read

yeah ur suggestion is much more interesting then mine, we can play “off” scale notes and make different chords that way and i see no inconvenient since we now have [f1 <-> f5], it would take the same “getting used to” as playing ele or engi.

actually i’ve been playing bunker Ele with 3.2 armor, E/W and arcane traits, so its not the situation….

he got down was taking damage for 10 sec, went down to about 10% down health got me down and beated me from there that happens regularly with necros and rangers

but yes a agree with ur last sentence “Equal balance in downed state would throw off the balance of the classes when they aren’t downed.” but that (what i’ve just explained) doesnt feel balanced either… (*edit) what i mean is some balance is beeing needed, not absolute equality, i actually like the idea of necro being the master of downstate

i <FULLY>support the semi tones feature or another suggestion i have for the f5 would be to change the scale (hopefully with semi-tones already added to the list

like at least major and minor scales, i guess adding semi tones would be more abragent but i dont really play with macros so could be confusing for me expecially when im drunk ::)….. mmmmhmmm i ment happy… HAPPY!

anyway i AGREE! semitones somehow!

a synth! wellll…. this is about to become the 1st MMODAW isnt it?

well some classes will always be better then others but a lot classes have heals while doing dmg, interruptors (so does Ele) and some traits that turn those (already better then most) downed skill into extreme overdrive

now, not all builds should have that overdrive but a turret engi has it by default to some degree (its not like turrets are the easiest/fastest thing to eliminate), that was my point, i didnt mean to say everyone/*every build should be OP while downed, but allow that “build/option” to be available to every class

so a turret engi with a largely enhanced down state would become ridiculous imo causing diferent balance issues
anyway i dont even know engi that well so i’ll keep away from it and let engis give suggestions to make it better without making turret engi ridiculous preferably

i dont play engi hardly ever but from what i know turrets dont disapear if he is in downed state so engi already has a kind of “passive” downed mechanic

Now, what brings me to make this post, Ele down state/skills….

it kind of kittens me off that SoOOOoOO many times you “win/are winning” fights and cant finish ppl off even if you’re up as an ele, necros and rangers are most notorious examples but guardians and warriors dont fall far behind, to me Ele STILL has the worst down state of all classes!

if you happen to go down you simply have 0.05% chance to win that downed battle even if you’re full (downed) health and they’re at 10%….

  • the 0.05% is in the case a popup brings them to desktop and they dont do anything for 20 sec or have to reboot PC*****

i know class lore wise necro should be master of downed state but for balance sake some adjustments are needed IMO, expecially in PVP

so my sugestions for Ele downed state:

i would keep skill 1 and 2 as they are and just maybe adjust cooldowns based on following….

- Make a trait(or general Ele change with trait enhancement* maybe replacing arcane precision trait/in arcane trait line*), that allows to change attunement in down state and cast corresponding skills to that attunement or make downed skill 3 cast those spells, like:

fire – cast a lava font on your target and burn enemys at your location (or the other way around)
water – cast " something like healing rain"(that heals you even downed) on your location and freeze your target
air – cast a lightning storm at your location and stun your target
earth – apply protection to yourself(EDIT: and allies) and a sandstorm/eruption at your target location

Feel free to coment or make other suggestions

IMO mesmer and thief also need some love in this department so share your thoughts on those classes too

EDIT if you think other classes need some balance too leave your positive/creative suggestions remembering there’s multiple builds available to each class and PvE, PvP and WvW. This is not ment to be a PLZ NERF post or an attempt to remove a class identity the intention is the opposite! Its about trying to balance while maintaining or enhancing a class individuality!

hi, i know Anet is probably busy with a lot of other stuff and i cheer the recent feature patch… (dreaming with an “expansion like” content now)

meanwhile i dont understand why almost 2 years into the game we don’t have an (theoretically simple) option to show only usable armor in TP ….or even better….. to filter it between light/medium/heavy armor… a few lines of code should make it easier to a lot of us

unless there’s a technical issue preventing it , this it would be an easy quality of life fix since everytime i use TP i waste so much time looking at “useless” items

anyway just a correction… in making a capture the flag/orb map i mean an oldscholl CTF where you have to take the orb to your base, not nodes, in a team fight! (not ppl scattered around trying to get far away nodes) and with multiple paths to your base, something in the lines of new courtyard map maybe

GJ Anet anyway, loving the changes overall, pLZ keep em coming

sidenote …. new classes or PvE content when? come On you can tell me…….i still can see all the unacessible areas in the map :P

Oh 1 more thing, wouldnt setting/changing elemental contigency buffs to activate on entering attunement and maybe adjust/lower the duration be a “fix” for it…. based on what i’ve said before, it would be a lot more usefull/reliable imo and make the trait more appealing (to me at least.. other Ele’s can coment on this)

1st of all, PLZ REMOVE THE CHOSE RED OR BLUE OPTION !!!!! thx for you attention to CAPS :P it makes some premade groups stomp constantly other team until everyone leaves or they get tired of laughing….. plz make it random

2nd note – i joined solo arena 2 times… both times played a 5v3???? is this a bug?

My main is Elementalist, all is good in PvE, i dont play WvW
I do play mainly sPvP now… my toughts about that

1 – Elementalist still falls behind every other class, fire trait seems useless, air is not that great either and to be honest i highly prefer evasive arcana over elemental contigency
(its not a bad concept but lets take this example… roaming in a big map from point to point most of the times you are in air…. someone attacks you you get fury, to me that want to play support Ele fury is not so usefull and the really usefull one, retaliation imediatly gets on a 10 sec cooldown… its just too hard to get it to work the way you want, especially since most of the times it depends on someone “randomly” attacking you on a 10 sec timer you cant be on Top of)
I really like Stone heart (a lot better then useless diamond skin* Ele gets under 90% hp with any attack….*)and even aquatic benevolence is very usefull but i rather use evasive arcana… if the healing buff also affected you it would be a different story still usefull…..

NOW THE EXCEPTION —-———— THE new sPvP MAP —-—————— Courtyard!!!!!!!

Finally a map where i feel Ele doesnt fall behind, if you can survive the big bursts your team is usually all there to support you

You can hide using line of sight and recuperate… not those massive maps where everyone can catch up to you and wipe the floor with your Ele’s kitten

real teamplay as i dont see stuff like in most maps where ppl go to a point you’re already taking just to get points instead of being usefull to team, ppl rezzing everyone as they go down, interrupting finishers… again… the only MAP where i feel Ele isnt stomped by everyone just to give you an idea… i have a close to 50% wins in other sPvP maps.. i played 9 matches in courtward… won 7

Plz make more maps like this!!!!!!!! and why not maybe capture the Flag maps? one can wish…..

IMo this happens because its a team play map… if a thief/warrior/mesmer fails to burst you immediately, he’s in trouble and your not the meat for every other class in this map as your team is always close by…

imagine one OP 1v1 class goes for you… he (as usual ignores everyone and goes for the Ele… even if you’re down he’s in trouble as long as you did some damage and even the Ele downed skill becomes more usefull then usual wink wink

Ok so i wasnt excited about gw2 in ages…. srry for my honesty developers but this patch finally turned that around… a 1st step i hope

just a few opinions then…
Wardrobe - love the wardrobe, excellent addition to the game!!!! it does have 1 problem that doesnt affect me directly, from what i’ve been reading a lot of the town clothes turned into non dyeable tonics (i just have witch costume and love to use it in combat a few more dye option would be nice tho…. never the less excelent addition!!

Mega Server - Its also a pleasure to see so many ppl everywhere i go, excellent job with it !! (PVE and PVP merge included)

My main is Elementalist, all is good in PvE, i dont play WvW

you’re problably right, you should play Elementalist, they have a lot of skills, an incredible variety of builds, massive healing, the highest dmg in the game, a lot of CC and utility skills on top of regular skills and condition removal, the elites are amazing.

Sure you can only use 1 weapon set but you have 20 skills on each so that makes him a LOT better then warrior and if you still lose a duel you can change weapon next time you spawn and own him… some people complain about high cooldowns on skills but imo that just makes Elementalist better because you can get so complex rotations on your opponents they’ll never know how to counter it and if your rotations misses you’ll have a lot more options in other attunements

1st of all i want to say i like the whole more support changes

suggestion
-: if you feel all the heals having a 35 % boost is too much… just make aquatic benevolence give that boost? not the rune so that way its just 25%? that feels something that could help balance Ele a LOT…. is that 25 % too much compared to warrior HP/heal/defense …. a ranger pet taking all the dmg for a while? a necro 2nd HP pool… and so on….?
(sigil of benevolence keep it as it is since in PVP its hard to make a significant difference reliably)

ok i had my serious doubts but now i too am starting to believe believe this balance team is just totally biased

the justification for not giving the healing effect of aquatic benevolence to the Ele is on a kindness spirit to give others, not yourself…. is that a new approach to all classes and skills…?? like with(already Squishy) Necros new Unholy Sanctuary where you regen health while in death shroud?

NOTE —- at the warrior section they compare the same sharing spirit of Aquatic Benevolence with the warrior Phalax Strenght… let me Copy Paste…. "When you grant *yourself might, grant it to nearby allies as well " O.o…. so i must be really stupid in not understanding the sharing spirit comparison with Aquatic Benevolence wich DOES NOT effect self… no freaking comments… just 1 comment… i understand they both “share” just not in the same way ^^

i watched the video on twitch about new changes in patch so is the warrior getting 1000!!!! yes 1000 toughness when breaking stun for 4 sec in that spirit? the “variable” 100% crit chance on burst skills? must be on the candid spirit of sharing their dmg with the oponents too… they did lack on that ^^

i mean a warrior or thief can usually kill me before i cast my main heal so whats the point of healing yourself anyhow… just stay back and heal your warriors/etc if someone goes for you, too bad… they can close distance better then you too …

just go back to Play Ele in PvE where you can cast all your 3/4 sec casts on top of each other on stupid opponents(mobs, against someone in PvP those 3 to 4 sec are more then enough to get you killed) and be the highest dmg class on the game lolz

The problem with the elementalist is their potential.

They are balanced considering their maximum potential… but not many people reaches that.

They can heal more than anyone else. So they get less health. But they won’t bring that healing potential to the max most of the time.
And they can do more damage than anyone else. So they get very long recharges and activation times, and reduced damage per hit on average, as they won’t bring that damage potential all the time, and even if they bring the builds that do the most damage, they have to be used under certain conditions and in certain ways to be effective.
And they have lots of control and abilities to take a beating without flinching like Obsidian Flesh, but how long do they last, and how often can they use them, and do they always bring those abilities with them?

Elementalists have higher numbers, but much lower averages.

It’s like having a 1-150 damage weapon while the rest have a 100-110 one, and a shield with that can absorb 3000dmg on block but only 5% block chance while the rest have a 1000 absorption shield with a 25% chance. The higher numbers become useless in practice, and actually work against the elementalist.

They have been handicapped as if they had their maximum potential in all aspects, all at the same time, but no one does bring all of that. When you bring damage, you sacrifice more survivaility that any other profession. When you bring survivability, you bring less survivability than other professions, and sacrifice more damage than others too.

So when people mix and match stuff and try to find new combinations, they will be underwhelming.

Elementalists need to be brought more in line with the other professions before going further into balance. Otherwise it’ll be like trying to solve a Rubik’s cube with squares of 8 different colors. It won’t match no matter how much you move stuff around.

so apparently i was about to post something about ele’s a LONG, Long time ago but decided not too at the last time.. this time i have too…. a Big patch is coming and what better time to get this balance going?

This is mainly about sPVP —-———————-!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’ve been playing Ele since beta, its seems during beta some ppl got kicked by some ele’s and cryed nerf, nerf all over…. those(kind of players) are problably the same persons that in every Elementalist section post about balance get in there… Ele is fine! l2p
Ele has the highest DPS…. lolz( no freaking comment) against who? static oponents who dont dodge or happily (slowly) move out of your red circles with 2/3/4 seconds to actually dmg someone skills, i’ve been playing staff ele recently… you’re only usefull staying back in team fights and waiting for everyone to be distracted to get massive dmg…. yes i’ve said it… “massive damage”… this with a FULL DMG build

now the problem is… you’ll lose every single 1v1 against Every other class that knows what their doing ( unless they disengage… you get a moral win)… its come to the ridiculous situation when you’re a FULL tank Ele and ppl take you down in 3/4 sec

if you decide to attack then, im not sure but i think ur attacks actually heal your opponents

now the l2p dudes come along and start talking all kind of reasons… let me explain you…
if finished a lot of sPvP matches in top Place both in losing and winning team, you know what 80%, times i feel short to every other class

i’ve played 1 sPvP tournament… ppl invited me to and asked what are you going to play… i said mesmer (was just starting to play mesmer, was lvl 20’s something) we went in there and won 3 rounds

I been playing recently Necro in sPVP…. 1st impressions? OMFG im invincible!!!! SOOOO much sustain and sOO much dmg, want to condition me? take them back!

when i die with those classes i say…. i got outplayed, outnumbered, not why do i die in 2 sec or my attacks heals my oponent as tank Ele (jk… you just need to attack them for 2 min without them attacking you to take them out.. 5 min if they heal by mistake during the test)

so about this patch my question is… why wont those new healing traits also affect the Ele himself? Do we have a lot a armor or HP? can we evade/(shorten distance) to other players better then any one else?

i really hope you balance or start balancing Ele this next big patch and stop listening to persons that play warriors/whatever saying Ele’s are fine l2p…. after playing Ele for 2 years and other classes in the off time, after that i can say… Ele’s Really Need a Fix

the conclusion i’ve made you support in PvP… ele as it is is a hit and run too many times for my taste

do a few k dmg and run away… i dont want to play like that all the time

i am a lvl 58 ele, still learning how to play ele (playing ele since BWE 1), its the hardest class imo

i have no trouble in PvE, being doing fine tho most other toons i see (that know what they’re doing out dps me) but i have AOE goodness, we need some balance.
i was statted mainly with power, precision and vitality earlier… or would be shot down really fast even in PvE, i recently got some toughness too as multiple mobs were too dangerous still my main stats are power precision

now about complaints:

sPvP – some stuff is just ridiculous – like i’ve said i’ve played ele since BWE 1 i kept complaining about how bad i was but you know, i realised i didnt know anything about the game so all was fine, i play with 20k HP power, precision, vitality, acessory, bleeds on daggers

Nowadays im only lvl 7 in PvP but i play d/d (only combo i seems to do a good job with) and can say i know what im doing now its ridiculous how many near kills we get… every class seems to be able to evade the finish until help comes or they get us down… if im downed im DEAD 90% of the times the delay on our escape its higher then every other class i’ve seen they’re always a lot tougher to kill and A LOT OF TIMES get me downed after i did the same to them and still have like 3/4k HP left

its becomes more ridiculous with some other classes expecially guardians(sudently my dps is meaningless) and warriors
i played against a (good) warrior i needed to kill 3 times so you can guess how that turned out… i would get him almost down he would heal i did the same still with some advantage would take him almost down he would heal for almost full health now im in a bad situation somehow got him down because help came he was downed and in downed state he was doing so much dmg with stones that took me down too having a lot of HP left… ressurected on that downed skill he has and killed 3 of us?!?!? so you can say all you want ele is balanced its BS… everytime i see a guardian on 1v1 situation i go somewhere else lol
its a waste to use all my colldowns on a guardian to take him to 75% hp and die whenever someone else gets there

chanelling skill 5 on earth atunement takes so long its suicide a lot of times and the beatifull solution someone gave on using teleport to get out of area well, you just used your get out of jail card :S fix that chanelling times plz… even in PvE might get you killed or nearly a lot of times
