Zerk is the way to go.

Just join the zerg in EotM and get to 80 in no time.

This applies to most classes… in PvE content its berserk or make/control your own groups.

Just carry a extra set of armour/weapons and move on.

Join the EotM train and get whatever weapon/spec brings you the most loot

Bug reported it again after the patch, like I have done so many times already… and moved on.

Its either “working as intended”, on their todo list or just not big enough to warrant the time/cost needed to fix it… I’m praying for option 2 <sigh>

Its a L2P issue… thiefs that go range vs a decent ranger will die, period !

Greetings all. After reading concerns about the threats of pierce in dungeons, and the desire to have it toggled, I have another suggestion/idea of how it could be managed. A functional item could be made to fit in the unavailable offhand weapon slot when the bow is equipped: arrow heads. There could be different arrows equipped alongside the bow to determine its firing properties. (Ie. Piercing arrow head, Standard(default) arrow head, Ricochet arrow head (bounce to 3 targets like the axe), or other such arrow head equipment to change the properties of how the longbow arrows behave when they hit their mark.

These could be purchasable items available to all rangers over time (In all likelihood you’d start with a default arrow head and have to obtain others through karma purchase or some other method.)

This would probably be the easiest way to default pierce and make room for new traits on our bows whilst still enabling pierce to be “turned on or off” simultaneously.

Now, while arrow heads sound like a generic thing, I’d prefer them to be ranger specific if implemented though. Or at least for the piercing arrow heads to be limited to rangers only. The GW2 statement of what a ranger is made it clear that in addition to the presence of the pet, rangers in this game are supposed to excel at use of bow and arrow.. its pretty disheartening if a thief can use a bow more skillfully/with greater ingenuity than a ranger.

But there was a suggestion on a thread wanting this, and it was quite popular.

I second the OP on this though.

But if you keep reading that same post, there is an added suggestion concerning arrowheads… ones to pierce, others to burn, bleed, etc… giving the ranger the option to pierce or not.

Its not specific pets, its all of them (at least land based, haven’t tested underwater ones).

Get a ranged pet and a melee pet (something with a F2 that benefits the group… condition removal, HP regen, etc) and micro manage it, swapping them often.

Since I have yet to test how melee pets are performing since the last patch/tweak I’m still using ranged pets, mainly spiders for the extra added CC… I also use my raven alot, love the damage.

Risen are undead, and prefer your juicy brains to your pet’s brain (they can’t even remember their own names, jeez, why’d they’d want to eat ’em anyway).

So take what you should have learned from 1-70 and kite them, its not that hard.

For start, I would love to see pet’s names remembered after pet change.

Let them start here… if this is not fixed, any other type of fix or fluff wont matter.

I love my pets, always have in most of the ranger classes I’ve played in ALOT of MMO’s, but do feel that the ranger should be given the choice to play with or without its pet, with a more permanent stow pet option… if this gives you a bonus or not when stowed, that is debatable.

But other classes have their own mechanism and they are given the coice to use them or not, the necro, the warrior, the thief, the elemetalist, etc… why force something onto the ranger ?

With this said, I will 99% of the time will still have my pet out.

Depend on what type ogf mobs yo are fighting, they will ignore the pet and go straight for ya… if that happens you need to use a different type of pet, fighting method.

I usualy go for ranged pets or ones with snares and either kite, or take it like a sado ranger !

Doesn’t fit the caracter, leave it to warriors and engineers… bows all the way !

Drop S&R for QZ… it barely works and with QZ you are able to rez a fallen mate much faster than your pet ever will (not to mention the other obvious benefits that come with that skill).

You can, I’ve done this… be prepared to die a few times and go nekkid, if yo can’t find a few friends to help ya out.

One thing is sure… Thieves are gonna kitten and moan about this !

I’d rather get a 2H Staff and turn rangers into a druid like class… support and survivability.

Bots have moved onto better and faster killing PvE classes, and ones that aren’t actually constantly nerfed…

It was a bug, glad it was fixed. Just hope they can now move onto something bigger and better for all rangers, and finally fix us up… like fixing the double-wings on flying pets.

Yeah, they will sometimes introduce a new pet for rangers. The last event introduced a new one, the Reef Drake, which can be obtained from the new map, Southsun Cove.

The new pet was introduced with the new zone. This is a seasonal event we have coming, much like the Halloween one (where we got no pet)… so I’m not expecting anything.

Can I get a thief as a pet ? F2 with Heartseeker…

You need to adapt to each situation/dungeon/fight, and bring every possible weapon you can think of, and plan your pets accordingly.

Ranged pets live longer, keep them close to you and micro manage their attack/return, spec specifically for dungeons/support/traps (in tought fights I’m usually the last guy alive, reviving everyone, keeping the fight going on).

I know we do suck right now and have to work twice as hard as every other class out there to pull our weight, I just hope it pays off eventually (Put your best game on Anet).

Acording to ANet my favorite skill is just 111111111111111111111111.

But GS has some great animations indeed, just sad its a wet towel.

Gave up renaming them… pointless.

There isn’t going to be a “real ranger patch”, only small minor fixes like they do for all other classes.
