Ahh ok, that makes a lot of sense in doing this way. If people were allowed to allocate stats like they do in PvE, they will go to either extreme end of spectrum.

Do you think that we need more variety of PvP gear stats? Currently, majority of the stats come from jewelry and there are less than 10 kinds of pick from. An amulet stacks up to almost 800 power and few other stats that you might or might not find useful. Do you think that PvP should get more ways to pick your stats like it is in PvE?

eg. My thief would like some toughness and precision in the build, but there isn’t any equivlant Knight gear in PvP. The closest is Soldier jewelry, which has a lot of vitality that I don’t find that useful. So I resulted in using zerker jew as an upgrade.

Yeah, it would be nice if there is some kind of in game LFG tools with Guild tag or password protections, so those in the same Rep optional guild can join with guild password or something. Right now ROME is so small, it’s hard to even see enough people online, and most members are recruited from pug runs who seemed to be proficient, but for lack of better words to describe them is that they seemed to be not caring. They wait for the guild maker or other active members to PM for invites, but they don’t ever initiate things themselves.

And I saw the only time they spoke up is when they left and guild and say CoF p1 is the only invite they get. Lucky people, I don’t even get as many CoF invites as they do.

Thank you for the site though! If this “guild” ever gets bigger, it would definitely help for finding groups.

I don’t know what everybody else thinks of this, but this guild invited me for a few CoF runs. The party composition was 3 guardians, an upleveled elementalist and myself, a warrior. I’m not sure what to think.

Actually, it has been posted to the ROME page for two weeks now, it’s member’s responsibility to make the best use out of the guild/group, which means, we need to PM each other if we want to run a smooth dungeon. And this is a nature of a small rep optional guild, finding enough online people who are available for a run or two. It’s pain in the kitten to PM each one and waiting for response. Majority of the time, people are either busy some something else, or AFK.

Often the guild ends up PUG 1 or 2. I personally have ran variety of dungeons like AR, CoE, AC, HoW, Fractals with ROME members. It has been nothing but smoothness. I often message people for all kinds of dungeons, not so much luck. Other than three members message me in game for dungeons, I have not received any invites out side of them. Which means, you are just LUCKY enough to be online for several CoF runs at that time. Do not generalize people in this guild as CoF nubs because you never took the initiative to be proactive for something else.

2 days ago I ran with 2 other ROME members on AC p2 ghost eater with 2 pugs, it was butter smooth. after 3 traps and the boss was dead.

2nd run took place, 1 ROME and 1 pug left the group, 2 new pugs joins in and the run fell apart. the party lacked DPS, survivability and coordination. Roman and I were always the last one standing struggling to kill the boss at 15% HP and res while others were either dead or down.

i have had more than COF invites. and when it comes to other dungeons, i ask where are other ROME members, the leader told me they are either busy with something else, or just AFK. 80% of the time i just drop whatever i was doing to run dungeon with the guild unless i was already in a dungeon, PvP, WvW, or doing world bosses. the things that i was doing can wait or start again later on, but a smooth run doesn’t come by often now days.

as for ROME members, we don’t have to wait for the guild leader to whisper for invite, take some initiative to whisperer each other if you want to run something. i am guilty of that, since i was still under the impression that i was under trial stage. i did not start any dungeon or ask anyone to run. if you are thinking “man, i don’t ever get invites and when i do, it’s COF 1”. go out and ask those who are online yourself. personally, i will drop whatever i’m doing or about to do 80% of the time to do a dungeon.

I proposed an method of IDEA for those who complain about OP or not OP for all classes, and you are here to argue with me in terms of facts and internet argument? I don’t have proof on how or why Anet nerfed Thief this badly from the start, but I do have proof that I am willing to defend for the class that I love.

While you are here spending you lovely time to level up your Forum Warrior XP with me, I am going to stand by my idea, and I will tell every single “QQ omg OP” person that comes to me in game or out to not kitten off, but go try out the class, and show me how OP it is. And when I am convinced, I will gladly join the Nerf camp to call for self nerf for any class that I play.

If no one on the internet would even try to convince others something, then how did Thieves end up at where we are today? Because somebody is convinced by the amount of QQ and rage after the release that thief is broken, thief is OP, thief needed a nerf. And someone is convinced enough to actually do soemthing about it. And now, someone is also convinced the 4s reveal is a bad idea after culling fix, going back to 3s for PvE/WvW.

Oh no, I am not trying to covince anyone here, I want them come to convince me. If they are not going to try to do that, then I can just dismiss their stupid comment easily by saying go make a (class) and show me how OP you are. They might not be trying to convince others, but they sure are doing it unintentionally.

I do believe most complains came from WvW, but that was when Culling was still an issue where 3s Reveal seemed more like 1s. Now culling is fixed, 3s sounds more reasonable as it was designed.

I don’t believe the nerf should be in sPvP if WvW is reverting back. But if all spectrum are reverting back, then there is no PvE/PvP split anymore. PvP=Escapegoat?

As far as I can recall, whenever I get knocked down and back by some PvE mob, I use steal to get back up beside them started attack again.
Maybe I should to test it out again to confirm it’s not just an animation illusion.

I think so. For me, I don’t PvP with my thief anymore when I learned that people trying to spam down my illusions as if they were me to be more entertaining. >.<

But seriously, for Thief to do dungeon is hard. I run a defence trait build with 80% zerker, mob’s punch hurts. It’s natural for people to assume that you will be pealed off the ground over and over.

Does anyone know that if you get knocked down faceplanted eating dirt, you can immediately get up by using steal on the target? It’s almost like a stun breaker for knock down. lol

4s stays in only PvP but not WvW? I wonder what’s the reason behind that. Any educated guesses?

The point is not to define or redefine what QQ is, the point is to set up a definite line to separate those who just whine and QQ and those who honestly believe certain class needs a nerf.

I believe that the Culling issue certainly contributed to Nerfing thief as we intentionally or unintentionally exploited this mechanic. However, after so many nerf patches, people are still crying nerf with their pitchforks. One post I saw today was a person saying something along the line:

“I have never played (insert class) or played against (insert class), but since I am a noob and all the pros are saying that (class) is OP, so I just joined them calling for nerfs. They should know what they are talking about.”

There is absolutely no way of stopping people from QQing or being so ignorant, but there is a way to dismiss their entire argument and trolling. And that is by giving them the burden of proof. As so you say (X) is more OP than (Y), you want to (X) nerfed? Then why don’t you show us how you can use (X) to roflstomp (A)(B)© ~ (Z), otherwise just shut up and no one cares.

Of course, the easy way just is for anyone not caring at all what these QQer are crying about, but then I felt the need to say something in defending my main class and those people who truly are skilled and not relying on OP or exploit in what they play. That is my point.

I have been hopping all over the forums for lately. I saw a lot of so and so is OP, nerf this, nerf that, QQ threads under almost every class forum except for Necro’s. There are other classes come to our forums calling for nerf, and those people are on other classes’ forum calling for thief nerf, and there are “thieves” among us calling for self nerf. In addition, every other class is doing the same thing to each other and themselves. This is not Guild Wars 2, this is Nerf Wars 2.

From my observation, many of these people/QQer made their statement and accusation based on single or few events they have encountered, and possibly an overly exaggerated story they made up based on one player. I certainly dismiss them as facts without any credibility whatsoever. Yes, some of them attaches a picture of two of combat log or link some else’s video of OPness, but pictures can be easily edited and that video is NOT yours. For all we know, the person in those videos can be an extremely good player with more than 1 class. Therefore, none of those things would server as a convincing evidence of OP or not in my book.

So I would like to bring an idea forth as a proposal. It is Do It Yourself Post Thief Stress Disorder. (DIY-PTSD). The thief can be substituted for any other class. From now on, every QQ or complain about a specific class, build, ability is required to have a video evidence to back up your claim. This video has to be YOUR video. No images, no crappy combat logs, no other pro’s noob pawning video, but YOUR video. And YOU, have to play the class that YOU want to nerf. Show us how you can use simple buttons smashing to bring down a group. Let us see your OPness with a newly made class. There are two options to demonstrate the OPness that you want to nerf.

Option 1. Level yourself a class from 1 to 80, gear up, go into WvW and roam. Show us your gear and stats in the video.

Option 2. Too lazy to level? Wonderful, there is this magnificent thing called sPvP on your top left menu where all the icons hang out. See that cross sword one? Click that and you will be able to do just as the same except with no food buffs and lower stats than WvW. And all this comes at Lv 1 and free!

Option 3. Too lazy to video cap and do either of those? Well then, you are either a forum troll or you just do not believe necessary nerf hard enough to actually put a little effort into making it happy. Either way, your post will be disregarded and put into the same trash can as North Korea’s empty threat along with Fatty Kim III QQ face image. So pick one.

And the outcome is simple as most of people who actually played the class can see what you and your opponents are doing.

Outcome 1. Your opponent is good, but you suck. You are not dodging at the right moment, you are not healing at the right moment, you are doing simple button smashing, you are not positioning yourself right. You are consistently making mistake while you are playing the class, and guess what? You killed your opponent and won! Now it shows us that the class is a low skill cap, noob friendly, OP, thus nerf is needed. Your statement and complain is valid. We will not take your words seriously unlike North Korea. And if he/she happened to win, then it is a player skill issue, not a class issue.

Outcome 2. You are descent at the class, but your opponent sucks. He/she is consistently making mistakes while you put up a good fight. And he/she kicked your kitten Well, good effort, but it looks like your claim does not match the OPness you described. And if you win the fight? We will see your moves, we will see your skills. We will see how you master the craft of the class, while your enemy does not have a clue how to fight you. OP? No. Skilled play? Yes.

Outcome 3. Both of you and your opponent are on par in terms of skill, but you are consistently beating the crap out of your opponent or vice versa. Then, we now have a case of possible OPness or Class V Class counter. Your statement may now be taken seriously, other wise, please unplug your keyboard and mouse.

Want to complain about a class? Go play that class first and show us YOUR evidence in a video how you can make the make the class so OP it absolutely needs a nerf. Other wise, Alt+F4 or just Deal with it. Oh and do not try to ask a friend to fake a video, players are not stupid, we can see the different performance.

The fact that OP abandoned the thread clearly indicates that he has no argument or solid proof of showing that theif is still OP after numerous nerfs. I sense all this verbal diareah is but his own personal QQ experience derived from several encouters of some skilled theif.

If you truly believe that one player or a class is so OP, you are more than welcome to become that % of rage quitter.

I think it’s time to pay attention to what should be a rule in multi player games:

1 player should never be able to cause trouble to 2 or more players. No matter what the situation. If 1 player is able to do that, something needs to be buffed/nerfed somewhere.

A skilled player can cause trouble to more than 2 players, and that’s what makes them skilled despite of classes or games. Have you ever seen StarCraft’s 1v3? FPS games 1vMany? It seems to me this online gaming is a new concept to you, therefore allow me to introduce to you a new game.

Actually there is a case where the reveal debuff doesn’t get applied coming out of stealth. Outside of that I agree there is no hax, it’s just a back group doing it’s thang.

Hence why I said due to attack, aka attacking someone other than using CnD over and over right on the dot when stealth is off.

This is just getting annoying. I am from Isle of Janthir and there are MULTIPLE thiefs in Sanctum of Rall who are hacking to win. They will backstab you, and instantly (and I mean instantly) go back into stealth and repeat this hundreds of times, no matter how many people there, or no matter how many times they use it. idk if they are using the skill cancel to bug the cooldowns or what, but when they are able to take out entire camps in seconds, it needs to be fixed Since A-net doesn’t allow us to post screenshots or names, and there is no report for hacking there will be nothing done about this unless I post, and I’m sure nothing will be done here either.

This person might be talking about us. The SoR thief only guild [QQ] is often running around WvW doing tactical engagement in IOJ BL. I can assure that none of our thieves HACK to win. If anything, it’s the render issue and MULTIPLE back stabs/haste buff to take this person down instantly. As a result, he comes here to QQ.

i personally just want the skill 1 to be FASTER.

I was on my 500hp per sec regen warrior against a low level thief in front of their respawn. She hits haste and spammed 4 HS while I was at 90% health. I just stood there until she ran out of ini and Frenzy – Bullcharge – 100B – badge.

After a brutal WvW battle took place in the Isle of Janthir’s borderland, 4 thieve coincidentally came together to take 1 supply camp against a small squad zerg. After several total defeats, the 4 thieves made a group and facerolled the enemy across the borderland. After a short discussion, they agreed to form a SoR thief only guild called “The Sneaky Stab Club [QQ]”

Introduction:
This is an entirely below casual level casual WvW guild, which means, you are NOT required to represent at all if you don’t want to. You are encouraged to represent only when you are roaming with other QQ thieves, but not an requirement. You are more than welcome to run with your main guild if they have events going. It’s like a “part time side job”. This guild has only 2 levels of ranking, 1 leader, and all officers. Everyone is equal in this guild. There is no forum for this guild for now, but we do use TeamSpeak for voice.

Operation Purpose:
If you are a thief, and you are tired of running in zergs, doing pathetic damage to walls and gates, then this guild might be the right choice for you. We don’t do seige. We are here to cause harassment and to be pain in the enemy’s butt. Somewhat similar to our counter part kitten Brigade [BB] from black gate. I sense someday we will meet them on the battlefield. Roaming, yak slapping, constantly flipping camps, wipe small party, nuke stragglers, hit and run, spawn camping, and ruining enemy’s day are what we do. We generally work in small party size between 3 to 5 for quick reaction and maneuvering, with multiple parties at different locations/maps if more people join in.

Requirements:
1. Home server on Sanctum of Rall.
2. Must be level 80 thief.
3. Must have at least full set of rare level gear. (exotics would be better)
4. Have access to TeamSpeak for voice. (strongly encouraged)
5. Must have above average skill with the thief class. AKA if you start to spam HS when the target has 90% health, you need some improvement to do.
6. Friendly, no drama, teamwork skills required.
7. Know when to fight, when to run, and when to ditch your comrades and come back for them for rez.
9. have sense of humour
10. Enjoy small party battle and know how to have fun.
11. A decent level of solo PvP skill, although formal qualification is not required.

We just ran the story yesterday. Same spot, it’s bugged again. Cut scene plays, but the chopper does not come close to the ship.

you might be able to kill 1 person within seconds, but you have to run behind your group, hide for 40 seconds after that, that 1 kill is likely to render the thief useless for almost a minute.
besides, in a group fight/zerg situation, the thief is also running the risk of getting snared and focused on as he/she appears in close range of the zerg just to BS 1 enemy. also, you may down the enemy, but it will be hard to finish him off without getting ganked by rest of the zergs nearby.

1v1, awesome, most WvW situations, not worth it. :/

i personally vote for Sanctum of Rall (SoR). it used to be a medium server, but i think it got bigger now due to its winning streak against some of the major servers. queue time is bad 1~2 hours during the initial match reset, but it gets better as the week goes. 10 to 30 min, then instant.

i really like this idea too, but how is this going to work out as people are all over different servers? i’m sure some people are unwilling to leave their guild and home server behind. also, i think i have heard that guesting can’t play WvW.
