This would have been convenient prior to the allowance of 12 bank slots (up from but now I almost consider it a necessary quality-of-life change. The window that opens when we access our bank should be expandable/enlargeable via a corner drag similar to our inventory bag window. As of now, it requires quite a bit of scrolling to get from the 1st slot to the 12th slot and it quite cumbersome to organize due to the window’s small, locked size.

I don’t think you quite understand the meaning/correct usage of the term “nerf”. Nerfing a dungeon would involve them making it easier.

That being said, while I think that dungeon re-works are necessary I do agree that the AC changes have caused less people to run what was previously an oft run explorable. Not that it is impossible or even too tough. Just that people haven’t adjusted and are running it less.

It is pretty simple:

Completing a jumping puzzle that you have or have not completed in the past (prior to the first of the month) will count towards the monthly. HOWEVER, each JP can only be counted towards the monthly once per account, regardless of the character you complete it on. You have to complete 12 different/unique JPs to finish that part of the monthly.

I fail to see why the change was necessary following the chest loot change on the 26th. Maw happening every half hour was arguably excessive when you could get a new chest on every character every day. Now that it it 1/acct/day I’m not sure what the reasoning was behind this change.

The only thing I can think of was the leveling XP it provided assuming you were there for the duration and able to do ~6 DE’s that quickly. But even then, the DR would kick in by the end of the 2nd chain and XP would be worthless until the DR reset.

Is 25/25/0/10/10 still generally accepted as the go to build for this? I’ve been running speeds on my mes and thief lately and just got my war to 80 this weekend but wanted to double check builds before hopping in.

There needs to be a way to easily check character specific completion, specifically in regards to Dungeon Story Modes and Fractals progression.

I have one character of each class at various levels of level progression – currently 80, 80, 80, 71, 64, 54, 31, and 28. I have completed different levels of fractals on different characters as well as having done some story modes on some characters and not on others. It gets very confusing attempting to remember which characters have completed what and to what degree.

Seeing as these two things – fractal level and story mode completion – can be a barrier to entry for participating in certain runs it would make sense for each to be easily checked on a character by character basis.

I started a thread HERE on this topic to ensure that there wasn’t already a way to do this that I had overlooked. Additionally there is some discussion on possible solutions – hero pane addition or new map icons denoting this information (e.g. current closed door dungeon icon for a dungeon that has yet to be completed by that character on story mode and an open door for one that has been completed).

Synch and Khisanth, thanks for confirming that I wasn’t crazy and that there currently wasn’t a reasonable way to check either. I knew about fractals portal thing but hoped that there was another way that I had just overlooked. I suppose you could do something similar with dungeons – attempt to zone in and see if the option for explorable comes up or not.

Unfortunately both methods are pretty cumbersome and I don’t think it unreasonable to expect a solution this far post release. I originally assumed the info would make the most sense in the Hero pane as a separate icon/tab on the left side similar to how you can pull up personal story progress. I hadn’t thought about the eotn solution with different map icons but that could work just as easily.

Yes, but that wouldn’t change a thing for a server like Blackgate! Due to the already high base population, there will still be overcrowding issues even if it was just Blackrock people at these events. Why? Because there are just that many people on each server and now they are all interested in doing the events. I honestly dont know why this is so hard for people to comprehend.

I won’t deny that and I wouldn’t argue with adding another server or two to the mix with free initial transfers to the new server in order to spread the population around more. Just remember that simply increasing the server space likely won’t be their first option due to the costs associated with it. We are much more likely to see a revamp in daily chest allowances first if fixing the current lag/overflow issues are their main concern.

I agree this is happening and acknowledged it in my post. However, most people who are religiously guesting like you say know to pick the lowest starting population servers as their guest locations to lessen the chance at getting thrown into an overflow. All I was pointing out is that the largest portion of the influx of players is probably from the home server simply because it is now worth doing the events. I said very plainly that without having the data from Anet I can’t prove that hypothesis any more than you can disprove it but I still believe as stated above, it “probably has more to do with an overall increase in people from your own server participating in the events.”

Not that the source of the issue changes things on our end though. Lag and overflow issues are present regardless of their source. But it is determining the source that will help predict their most likely solution. Currently, my best guess is here.

Most people will not guest onto high pop servers (Blackgate, which happens to be my home server) for events for this exact reason.

What does that mean?

The issues the server has with full map instances and home world players getting kicked to overflow maps is not likely a result of guesting but rather from more people attending the events who also call that server home.

I doubt they would want to remove the incentive for people to play additional characters (and pay for additional character slots) so I definitely don’t see 1 per acct/per day happening.

If anything I could see them imposing a 1 chest/per character/per day rule. It offers the best of most all solutions. They still incentivize having additional characters and people playing the events with more than a “one and done” a day attitude (which they would want considering the time spent creating them and the excitement they are supposed to bring). Also, while promoting an increase in event participation relative to the pre-chest-buff era, it would cut down on traffic during these events by a significant amount. Lastly, it would allow them to keep the newly implemented chest loot buff in place without introducing nearly as many rares/exotics/ectos to the economy.

Anet hasn’t released data on this so it can’t be included in the “facts” list, however, the lag and overflow issue probably has more to do with an overall increase in people from your own server participating in the events and taking space on the server as it does from those guesting. Everyone is up in arms about the situation and just assumes it is from guesting rather than looking at the most obvious and likely source of the issue: a big spike in your home server’s population now participating.

2. The reset is 7pm EST, same as the daily.
3. You can still do the event more than once/day on the same character and can get the medal/xp/gold for participation , but no chest will spawn.
4. Guesting does NOT make you eligible for more than one chest per event/per character/per day.
5. Guesting only allows you to take advantage of specific events starting at different and potentially more convenient times than if you used only your home server.

If so then complete it on a higher level character that may or may not still need the xp granted from completion but will receive more silver.

Windu, potentially easier said than done assuming someone has been using the same ptt key for more than just this game, hitting specific keys becomes comfortable and second nature when you want to say something.

The current inability to remap this key is a big frustration with the game currently. Not only does it result in the flooding of /m, /p, /s, /g, etc with linked skills but it often will open up the text box to link the skill but leave the cursor in the text box and it ends up looking like this:

as I attempt to move forward or strafe right while my character stands still. I use Ctrl as the modifier for most of my utility skills and this happens all too often.

When browsing the forums and seeing that an official ArenaNet response has been posted in a thread (denoted by the red symbol next to the thread heading) the official posts by ArenaNet members are of the highest interest compared to the rest of the thread. I read the OP, as well as some of the other posts to get a general feel of the discussion, but would like to be able to easily sift through some of the other fluff and go right to the official posts. While you do support jumping from one official post to the next within a topic with the down arrow under their name (or up arrow to visit a previous post) it can be difficult to find the first official post within a thread. Often times I end up scrolling through multiple pages prior to finding the first official post.

I suggest adding a “jump to” function to locate the first official post within a thread.

If you still want to craft for the fun of it (I usually enjoy crafting as well) then another tip would be to pay attention to WHEN in the course of the week you do it. Hit “B” in game to pull up the WvW bonuses your server currently has. The upper left one is in reference to the crafting bonus, which increases your chance to get a “crit” on craft – additional xp from that single craft which translates to less individual crafts needed to level = saving money. WvW resets Friday evening every week so your world will have less of a bonus then and it will increase over the course of the week from 10% (starting) to 20% (max). Also, remember that to take advantage of this bonus you need to be crafting while zoned in to your own server (not guesting or on an overflow).

If I know I will be doing some crafting I usually gather the materials ahead of time and wait until wed-thurs-fri to do the actual crafting in order to save a bit of money.

Money comes in slow early on although you dont really need much at that point either.

To each thier own but my tips would be:

LEVELING
-Continue to do as many dynamic events (de) as you can if you are in a zone. The rewards are decent, leveling efficient, and often times they will help complete renown hearts in the area.

DROPS
-Pay attn to what you salvage and what you sell. Some of the starter blue weap drops (no level req) sell for around a silver – usually greatsword, dagger, staff, possibly some others. Get used to the ones that sell and TP them rather than vendoring.

-Most of the time it is only worth salvaging whites and even then rarely leather whites. Sometimes blues (very early ones that yield copper) but definitely not greens or yellow. Those you should vendor or put on the trading post. Remember the TP takes a 15% total cut from all sales (listing+sell fee) so if the vendor price is within 15% of the TP price, just vendor it.

GEARING
-This may be the most important given your op – although crafting seems like a logical way to keep yourself geared, it is rather cost-prohibitive. You are better just getting new gear every 5-10 levels on the TP most of the time. Blues and sometimes greens can often be had for a few copper above the vendor price, which you can recoup by vendoring when you are done. Think of it as renting gear for a few copper.

-Buy orders on the TP are your best friend if you are low on funds and dont need the item immediately. You can usually get a buy order filled reasonably quickly and save significantly.

CRAFTING
-Crafting is more of a money sink currently than anything. There are profits to be made in some markets but would require you to be high level and have the capital to level the craft in the first place which is usually 5+gold (with the exception of cooking, artificing, and possibly jc which are cheaper)

SUMMARY
Try to keep armor up to date every 5+ levels from the TP cheaply. Same with weapons. Continue to use cheap food. Have enough money to buy the trait training books at 11/40/60. Don’t worry about crafting yet. Just sell the mats if you need the money.

Anyway enough of the soppy stuff- loot from chest was a rare and some NPC food. Good drops considering I had only 15%MF on (Pirate sigil + Karka accessory) but alas, no Final Rest. I can dream though!

MF only affects loot from killing a mob. It does not affect chests, salvages, the mystic forge, or anything else in game.

Having the progress apply account-wide would make it increasingly difficult for new people who are just starting out to find groups for early level fractals. As is, requiring people to progress through fractals on each character increases the number of people running fractals of all levels.

This may not be the most convenient for everyone but it is certainly the best option as far as the game is concerned.

Wow. So after multiple disconnects and then trying to find a server each time after the disconnect that still has the event going and space, this new build comes out, so after 5 to 6 hours of effort, some of us still get nothing…
I have not been so frustrated…

Pretty much this. Had D/C issues (out of my control). Was only trying to complete the event on my 1 main character (not farming it) spent hours trying to get back into overflows after D/Cs. Was 2 hours into the event and get a new build before the chest leaving me with nothing but repair bills and wasted time. I really hope something can be done about this b/c that was very poor practice.

Koshka, I have the same problem. There used to only be 172 Shiverpeak locations. I believe that the issue is they added 2 new places with the Shadow of the Mad king patch, both in Dredgehaunt Cliffs:

Ok, so comparing the places listed on http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/User:Bluestone/Explorer which used to have all of the points, there are 2 places listed on the wiki for Dredgehaunt Cliffs that aren’t on Bluestone’s list:

So, I’m working on finishing my explorers achievements and am currently at 172/174 for Shiverpeaks. I know that Shiverpeak used to have 172 places and I also am 100% sure that I have all of them as listed here: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/User:Bluestone/Explorer

It is about a week old but most of the suggestions/prices are still fairly close. I just did 1-400 last week for ~1g using this guide. If you are patient enough for buy orders on a few of the more expensive items you will really save big. Another benefit of this vs pure discovery is that you end up with stacks of 25x of food items that you can actually store/use vs bags full of 1x of each item from discovery.
