Steam Hulk biggest mini?

I wish I could have a real size pet without being a ranger… a dog, a cat, a wolf, a bear cub… anything that is not a mini

[…]Exactly like a mini, just not… mini.

The cat minis (orange tabby and Chauncey) are the exact same size of the cats seen elsewhere in the game. There’s also a raccoon that’s a realistic size. They don’t even have the word mini in their title. Just pretend you store them in your bag.

Magic Find Infusions that can be put on Ascended Gear.

Suddenly there is Magic Find Gear.

You might want to do more research before you try calling someone out yourself.

Not that magic find is relevant to drop type, but the magic find infusion can only be put on ascended amulets with a utility spot, not “armor, trinkets, and weapons”.

Just admit when you’re wrong…

[…] we want to reassure players that they’re not going to see changes in loot so visible that some components are going to “rain” or they’ll stop seeing loot variety. It’s more complex than that.

The adjustments to the loot system are fairly subtle[…] it’s not going to feel like a very visible change each time you loot a mob. It does not mean that you’ll get less varied loot overall.

[…] the change will not be easily noticeable.

Really shows how these pre-loot-change statements were made for the sole purpose of damage control/ sweeping it under the rug until everyone forgot.

My money’s on them ignoring this too.

Also, Necro getting misclassified seems like a cruel joke to the already beleaguered class.

Sounds like you’re Anet’s model customer considering their focus on lottery boxes and mindless zerg grind “content”.

Better drops from dungeons and fractals is what I meant by “same content”. That’s the least zerg oriented PVE content there is, but I’m not exactly having fun doing them anymore.

I am addicted, but I am also having fun.

A few days ago as I was salvaging luck I asked myself “what for?” I have more gold than I’d ever spend and would better drops from the same content really make the game more enjoyable? I realised then that I playing out of a compulsion rather than deriving any sense of fun; I was addicted.

Whether it be from chasing achievement points, completing your daily, or anything else, does anyone else feel the same unpleasant necessity to play the game?

Let me translate this for you:
It is exactly the way we think it is getting changed, that is it will affect everything including level 80s. But they cannot say it out loud, otherwise there will be an uproar with the community.

So they are going to implement it the same way we all expect it to work, except that they are just telling us it is “not what we think”, so that by the time we get enough research data on new drop rates(by comparing previous drop data with the new ones) to confirm it was exactly as we predicted, it will have been too late for players to uproar and ask for a rollback(because it will have been implemented for a while into the game by then).

Therefore, expect the expected nerf to your drops.
Note: If my post gets deleted, at least we will be able to confirm that I am right on this.

tl;dr
Drop rates are getting nerfed but we are being told they are not.

I agree completely. Sweeping contentious issues under the rug, silence, or interrupting their momentum till they blow over seems to be the modus operandi of those in charge of this game’s changes for most cases. It would be far more effective for them to acknowledge obvious discontent among a large portion of their player-base and act accordingly; or at the very least ensure changes don’t act as a hindrance to select groups. Unfortunately they seem like they’re out of touch, mostly due to the lack of communication and player involvement.

This is pretty poorly thought out if it affects level 80s, like I suspect (“too hard to go beyond most basic of programming”). My main being an engineer, I’ll be limited to pistols, rifles and shields with regards to likely drops. Personally I enjoy the variety of potential drops, which would get pretty bland if it were to be nothing but these items. Also, players will be limited in their ability to outfit their other characters with drops from their main, who are likely fully outfitted already. This isn’t even thinking about the possible financial viability of certain classes over others.

Guessing it will be applied to all levels as they’ll no doubt claim “programming difficulties” in having it only affect sub-80s.

The achievement will trigger once you talk to all the npcs, before you go to the Asura lab. Don’t go to the lab until you’ve found all of them.

Everyone is doing precisely that, but the achievement isn’t triggering. The “7” number is coming from that being the amount of npc’s there are to rescue if you solo the instance (and yes, that includes the not particularly hidden one on the guard tower).

Getting the achievement is bugged.

Better water combat/ guild ships/ fishing

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ben.2685

Ben.2685

Having ships move along pre-determined paths with players on-board would be possible (think back to the SAB log rides), but I’m not sure whether the developers would be capable of making manually controlled ships for WvW. One thing I really wish was in this game would be transport such as the ships you suggested, rather than WPs (meaning you’d have to physically travel, use asura gates, other transport, or artificer crafted devices to get around). Fishing while on the boat would be fun, too.

Pretty sure fishing would be the only thing that stands a chance at inclusion, though.

So to stop minor nuisances, one easily resolved through having proper account security, and the other easily reported and hardly constituting a dramatic effect (also lessened through proper account security), you’d cripple the trading post, stop players from helping others and aggravate a bunch of people with more useless account bound items? Guessing you’d suggest putting price brackets around items to stop gold transfer through that means, annoying even more! If you’d annoy far more than you impress, why bother? You yourself said that you rarely see botters, and gold seller whispers aren’t overly abundant or bothersome.

Guess SAB isn't happening =(

Ben.2685

They didn’t mess up with the second SAB release at all. There were just a lot of ppl crying because they couldn’t make it (even tho it wasn’t that hard)

People were only unhappy (and thereby didn’t attend SAB) because of certain implementation decisions (by the higher-ups), rather than the maps themselves (except for one being seen as too long). They nerfed how rewarding (in a sense other than skins) the original SAB was. Not only did they remove any incentive aside from skins, such as obsidian shards, they also reduced the baubles to be found in the world to buy these skins, making it a grind. This frustration was multiplied by the decision to put players to 1 life after they die and quit, rather than 5, meaning more of the baubles going towards coins “to keep the player on edge” they suggested, rather than to spruik their infinite continue coin, I’m sure.

The second iteration of the SAB lacked the mass appeal that the first had with regards to rewards, in that it only really rewarded skins. Were it to have had the original structure, it may have attracted many more that wouldn’t have otherwise participated, and they in turn may have found it both rewarding and entertaining.

They really should ask themselves whether the elements they change or remove “make the game more enjoyable”, before enacting them.

Not confident that they’re going to bring it back, as the numbers may not have appeased the “metric-men”, and yet they’ll attribute that to the feature itself, rather than to it being turned into an infinite-coin pushing grind, with its reward system butchered.

Another lesbian relationship?

in Lore

Posted by: Ben.2685

Ben.2685

I doubt they’ll kill either one. That would be counter-intuitive to their poorly disguised agenda. It’s so palpably obvious they went out of their way to include such to promote their tiresome “everyone’s included, we’re so progressive” tagline, rather than allowing legitimate progression of the story (not borne of forcing ideology).

It detracts from the game in that time was directed to it, it is insincere and artificial, and is at best fan-service for certain demographics, and at worst, propaganda.

We can conclude that since the promotion of such relationships is so common within the game, there must be a purpose. It doesn’t reflect the demographics of reality, so it can’t be to appeal to the player. The sheer number suggests that their inclusion didn’t just “spring to mind” in story development, but that the writers intentionally went out of their way to incorporate it. Furthermore, its presence doesn’t achieve and isn’t able to convey anything not present within a hetero relationship; though I feel as if where they are encountered, there’s no need to mention either type of relationship. As such, the only logical conclusion is that it’s to force an unsolicited opinion regarding real-life through bombarding the player with the inclusion of this artificial writing.

At least Professor (Al) Gorr trying to reduce magic “emissions” didn’t feel forced, and instead made more cared for, subtle references to the issue. It complemented GW2 lore and was more of a joke, rather than being a proselytising aside.

Rules about usage of technology… still at war with science, huh?

LOL, I honestly cannot take any religion seriously if they start restricting the use of technology being the art of evil.

But if thats what he wishes to do and thats his beliefs, he can live miserably for the next 2 years.

You both discerned the reason behind the limiting of “technology” from your bias. Clearly the intention behind the restriction of “technology” (in this context entertainment items and the like) is to maintain productivity and retain focus on the various endeavours in which he’s to be involved. Religion has very little opposition to the broad term “science” and has in many cases sponsored it. If it didn’t contravene any of its tenets, why would it?

It’s saddening to hear that your life would be “miserable” without this artificial presence too, Chase.

Good luck on your travels Galtrix, may you extract many life lessons and impart some too! You should probably invest in gems before you go, they’ll probably be hundreds of gold each by the time you return

Stop being swayed by potential cash grabs (as evidenced through the limiting of baubles and one life given on map restart).

As I said above, the one-life thing was to add fun. I don’t find mindlessly throwing away lives to be fun. I want death to matter in SAB like it mattered in Mega Man and Metroid. That creates tension. Causes you to be careful. To THINK about your environment, enemies, and how you approach jumps. It is fundamental to creating the experience I want to create. But if you can jump back to the hub, then back to your group at the end of a zone with 5 lives again those lives are next to meaningless. The tension, awareness and thoughtfulness slip to the wayside because it doesn’t matter how often you die. It has nothing to do with selling anything.

How is dying to an unforeseen, unpredictable pit, “throwing lives away”?
If you want tension, then why isn’t 1 life the default?
If it’s to stop people from leaving then returning at the end with their group, why does it affect single player and tribulation mode then, in which such an exploit is impossible?
How do lives have value when you can essentially purchase an unlimited supply of them from the gem store? Doesn’t this mean the gem store item detracts from the fun of the SAB?
What fun is there in the limiting of baubles to the extent that it’s difficult to afford anything beyond living?

Thanks for actually responding to people’s criticisms/ annoyances, too.

zone 2 is insanely hard…like It’s not even fun

I think if you learn the map you would do a lot better and have more fun. However, as an environment designer it’s my job to keep your interest by providing fun while you learn. So I’ll see what I can do. Thanks for the feedback.

It’s fairly difficult to “learn the map” ie: how to avoid the cheap aspects of tribulation mode, when death is so expensive. Cheap deaths are fun enough when coming back to life is also cheap, but when you either have to spend 50 hard to come across baubles (which conveniently were removed from various areas of world 2-1), find a coin in a chest, or pay for an unlimited item to stand much of a chance of learning, it’s no longer fun. Stop being swayed by potential cash grabs (as evidenced through the limiting of baubles and one life given on map restart). If the entire map has to reload, so should your lives as you’re clearly not gaining an advantage, especially in tribulation mode where you can’t rejoin your party.

This wouldn’t result in a lost gem store sale as I wouldn’t have had any intention of buying the particular booster, I don’t like it to that extent; it’d just be a nice way to get rid of extraneous boosters without throwing them away completely.

So … if I understand correctly…

you want to transmute unwanted boosters into other boosters which you don’t want either?

I would want (and use) the boosters that I transmuted the unwanted (and unused) boosters into, I just don’t want them to the extent that I’d pay gems for them.

And because you don’t want to spend money for stuff you don’t want, a.net has to waste time implementing a recipe for someone who states he won’t pay money regardless?

I don’t want to spend money for the stuff I would use if it were already in my inventory, or gotten through the transmutation of stuff I wouldn’t use.

Isn’t that a bit silly?

You just misunderstood that I would use an item, just not to the extent that I’d buy it (at least at the current prices).

If you don’t want it, destroy it … it’s a freebee anyways.

I’m very appreciative of the fact that it’s free, but wouldn’t it be better for the item to be used in some way (when many wouldn’t want it for its intended purpose), rather than wasted?

Were this implemented, it’d help get rid of extraneous boosters while making players glad to receive them, ANet shouldn’t be influenced solely by the revenue they can generate from any particular action.

Further to that, achievement chests are rather finite in that your potential to earn points dwindles as you progress, meaning that players won’t have the same access to boosters permanently. To allow for the access to desired boosters, at a loss of course, could lead to the player appreciating their presence more, encouraging them to turn to the store as their booster supply runs dry.

Additionally, the use of many boosters would lead to an increase in gold in the game, reducing its value against gems and thereby encouraging players to buy gems with real money.

I can see a recipe for four boosters ? random booster, like all other such recipes. Influencing the matter with an “indicator” is not likely to happen, however.

Anything is better than the current situation

With the achievement rewards, I now have a bunch of boosters I’ll never use, and I’m sure many are in the same boat. 9 Glory boosters for instance.

If we had a recipe where we could combine 3 unwanted boosters with 1 we did like, and got 2 boosters back including the 1 we used as an indicator in the recipe, it’d help to clear up inventory space.

This wouldn’t result in a lost gem store sale as I wouldn’t have had any intention of buying the particular booster, I don’t like it to that extent; it’d just be a nice way to get rid of extraneous boosters without throwing them away completely.

Also, to detract from the notion that it would be bad for the gem store, it’s not like you’re unable to get certain boosters from the chest, so there’s no implicit worth one has over another in the eyes of the GW2 staff; and as such they’re not encouraging purchases by stacking the odds. It’s just luck, and to substitute luck with a notable sacrifice in terms of booster count seems fair enough.

Hope you can implement something like this.
