Yes, I have bad internet; I’m limited to 1 Mb/s DSL.

But even then, the downloads from ArenaNet are far slower then everything else on the internet, only getting about 30-40 Kb/s, so there’s something more going on than just the fact I have DSL.

And even beyond that, the reason I keep complaining is that Arenanet continues to release patches in a way that maximizes the level of inconvenience for people with poor connections. They could easily release in the early morning (so people could download while they’re at work) or late night (so they could download while they sleep), but no, Arenanet insists on doing it mid afternoon so they have to sit their and watch a progress bar during prime playing time.

Because your probably one of ten people still trying to play an MMO on DSL. You know I may understand if it were Runescape.

I may be in the minority but I’m not really impressed and this is not negativity.

The artist did a really great job with the levels, the lair looked wonderful. But under all the GW1 fanboy nostalgia it still was a run here watch this content patch. And the part I really did not like is I casually finished this in less than four hours.

Again not negativity just if it really takes two months to make about three hours of content which a lot of was already developed how long will it take to pencil in all the dragons?

Just my opinion but I hope in another year or so they just go the route of actual expansions like in GW1. The only times I have logged in the last few months have been for the previous LS, and this one. I’m not really interested in grinding maps.

We still have Dragons to fight. Area to explore. Lost groups to find. Mantle, Mursatt, and Elonians. Jocko Palo is still out there. The Crystal Desert to explore. There is alot of things yet to see.

As much as we would all like to see this no way it could possibly happen. The game is already entered the part of it’s life cycle where the price drops and the people who are emotionally attached to it are starting to quit. It’s not at the end of it’s life just yet but the peak has already been reached.

With the speed they release content we wont be finished with this dragon until next summer. Do you really think people even the people who like this game will play it for 8 years?

If Anet don’t start releasing new content soon, there’s going to many people abandoning this sinking ship. It’s shame, GW1 had such a long run and people still play it, whereas GW2 is already dying after 2 years.

Guild Wars 1

Guild Wars: Prophecies – April 26, 2005 (6 classes, Tyria, 4 Elite Missions)

Guild Wars: Factions – April 28, 2006 (added 2 new classes, Cantha, skills, 2 Elite Missions)

Guild Wars: Nightfall – October 26, 2006 (added 2 new classes, Elona, skills, heroes, 1 Elite Mission)

Guild Wars: Eye of the North – August 28, 2007 (introduced Norns and Asurans, added new areas to Tyria, skills, new heroes, 18 dungeons)

A lot for its first 2 year and 4 months.

Guild Wars 2

We had snow ball fights, lesbians, and super cool armor skins.

Can we go back to Elona?

I just can’t play this game until something interesting happens. Every time I check for new content it’s “Buy this new ….. in the gem store!”

I mean god just release an expansion and let people choose what and when they want to explore. Heck, how long ago did Blizzard release the Burning Crusade? Do you seriously think every player has visited every corner of out land yet? No.

Back when lore didn’t revolved around 5 cliche and comical characters…

You, know I was fine with them until all the girl on girl madness happened. That just seemed so intrusive and out of place. TBH I’m still not sure where the heck these people even came from.

I stopped playing after the original story and then had 5 weirdo’s calling me boss. Heck, I just realized that I was the boss when I went into that machine that gave our character the vision. I thought the Charr was the boss lol.

I’m not.

Gw2 is gathering dust.

And sadly, I found it really easy to walk away from.

Apparently you didn’t walk away from it as you are still here posting. If i left a game completely I would not even bother posting period. It sounds hypocritical.

Both games have their merits but i cant see myself going back once I did everything GW 1 had to offer. I have plenty games to play besides this one though, mostly mmos themselves, so I’m at no loss if I take a few weeks off of this.

As for attachment I felt more attached to my characters here than I did in GW 1. There was no RP guilds as far I knew. In GW 1 I pretty much got looks and stares.

Not a valid statement.

There are people who dislike the game but like the lore. I’m in that category as the last times I logged on were to complete the LS and have not since then. Before that it was for Scarlett and before that it had almost been 9 months since I logged in.

These forums are more entertaining than the game is.

In my experience, most people who started this game in Guild Wars 1 feel this way to some degree, including me. I was more attached to my Guild Wars 1 characters than I am to my Guild Wars 2 characters. That said, some people I know who didn’t play Guild Wars 1 are attached to these characters.

And my attachment to certain characters has grown as I find more ways to “make them mine”.

But it still doesn’t feel the same was Guild Wars 1 did.

I never played Guild Wars 1 aside from watching friends play it once or twice because I was a WOW guy but they always looked like they were seriously having fun.

GW2 has always been cosmetic even from the start. Look at this pretty map, look at this pretty city, look at this pretty outfit. I got tired of paying for WOW and before this game came out it promised so much. But what I have learned is that GW2 really misses the simple fun moments you have in other games.

Like standing outside a dungeon with your friends and then suddenly 10 max level horde characters come out of no where and you all try and rush in and only one guy makes it in alive lol.

I have been waiting two years for that fun from this game.

I think that its trollish and demeaning for a player to join an up-and-running game, play it, and then berate it for why it isnt like [insert x game here], like the developers have made this game as a commission for said player and have done a poor job capturing the player’s dream.

:“This isn’t the game for you” is a wake-up call that lets players know that while suggestions for enhancement are fine, berating a game for not bending to their whims is silly.

there are people that use that reasoning to berate and shut down suggestions though. Even if they’re frequently made suggestions, if they are done politely you shouldn’t be suggesting the person pretty much leave, though.

Sadly many people who like to defend any element of the game seem to mainly have some hatred to those other games.. or well.. WoW and seem to see every change as a move in the direction of WoW (see the many mount discussion, many nonsense reasons are made up why not to add them but in the end it turns out they simply don’t like it because WoW) so any change that would mean something would be added that is similar as in WoW is being attacked by “Maybe GW2 is not your game.”

Asking for something that might also be in another MMO does not mean asking to change the game into that game.

GW2 was designed and advertised before launch particularly at segments of the MMO player base that disliked wow. Disliked the trinity, grind, and other associated elements.

There are enough valid reasons why mounts are a bad idea ( lag, we already have a means of fast travel, don’t fit in thematically etc).

Advertised as no trinity, yes, advertised as no grind yes (sadly that worked out different) advertised with events yes.

But the fact that there where no mounts was never so much advertised with or was never a selling point.

And this is again a good example of what I was talking about. People who don’t want mounts because WoW (what you reveal in your first part) then use the “it does not fit in GW core” as excuse (and so basically trying to change what GW is about. Considering it very much does fit) and then coming with some additional excuses because they known “because WoW” is not going to cut it.

Lag..? mounts would not create more lag and the additional models should also not be a problem as it’s been done in many mmo’s.

The current form of fast travel does not fit in the world where ‘portals’ are the big thing. And at best way-points mean mounts are not needed but that does not mean there is no reason for putting them in.

And thematically..? Really? There are already mounts in it. NPC’s that have traveled with horse carriages to places, vehicles parked in Black Citadel and you can even see the dredge using vehicles. Not having mounts while they are very visible in the world… that does not fit thematically.

You might not like mounts because WoW and thats fine. But don’t try to redefine what GW is by saying mounts don’t not fit in there while they do or even worse (subject of the title) then blame other people of doing exactly that.

The whole anti mount arguments have always been a little silly. The travel in WoW was perfect in my opinion even though it did cause you to lose a lot of time. It felt more immersive.

I mean what sounds more stupid. My character uses long bows and swords and lives in a castle city. But when I want to travel to the country side I use an advanced teleportation technology.

My character uses long bows and swords and lives in a castle city. But when I want to travel to the country side I ride my horse to get there quickly. And when I travel from zone to zone I use magic portals to travel between cities and then ride my horse to travel between zones.

The mounts in WoW had their annoyance but they were really pretty fun. Nothing used to send chills running down your spine more when you beat the heck out of some guy and then saw his friends coming and you were like oh god mount mount! Hoping that animation would happen and get away to a friendly zone before they could hit you.

When your criticisms are related to bugs, oversights, or poor implementation, you should definitely voice them.

When your criticisms are related to the direction the game is going, “maybe this game isn’t for you” is a valid response. The developers (well, probably the publisher at this point) set the game’s direction and they aren’t going to do something that is deemed unprofitable or too risky. If you are unable to deal with the game’s direction, then there are literally thousands of other options out there that have other directions which you may find more to your liking.

I know it is always unpleasant to face a decision to abandon a game that you previously enjoyed, but every player will eventually face that decision because games are made for the purpose of generating revenue.

And why?

Before the game came out it was marketed as a revolutionary MMO that would not have much farming it and get constant content. And how ironic would that be right now?

The first time you turn the game on and look at the map your like oh my god! There is so much room for expansion.

Two years later…

No second dragon fight in a game about dragons, no Cantha, no Elona, not many new dungeons and they still have the same problems they did upon release, a huge portion of the continent we are on has closed map zones. It’s one thing to completely add a new zone to a world like WoW does. And it’s another thing to have zones in the game you just have not opened after two years while constantly releasing cosmetic gear centered updates.

It’s almost as if your wrong if you do not plan on playing this game for the next 8 years to get the content you were promised. I didn’t buy the game to get trench coats and or pay more money dress half naked like Kasmeer. I bought the game to fight dragons I can actually fight more dragons in 30 minutes of Skyrim than I have in two years of this game.

Please, can people please stop using this phrase? I get it, you are annoyed that people are criticizing aspects of the game that you really like or even love. And they can be really rude when they do it. But they have their reasons for being critical, just as you have your reasons for being defensive.

I know you will go there: Yes, some people still complain eons after they have stopped playing. You wonder why they still bother. I stopped playing myself for a while because I got bored, but I never lost interest in GW2. And now I am back, because I found new reasons to play and enjoy the game.

There is only one good answer to the question/statement: “Maybe GW2 is not the game for you.”

Yes it is, because I am still here.

If they do bring Cantha into this game for the love of god ditch this “There has to be balance!” philosophy that MMO’s have adopted. I do not want to walk into a destroyed Cantha.

I want to walk into a city that is full of conflict and adventure. And heck, there is a chance to do something unique. The map a gigantic city that is fun to travel through and gives you that feeling you get when your walking through Manhattan for the first time.

Heck, a civil war would even been fun and it would give a reason to allow other races into the city. But for the love of god do not destroy another human city just to call it balance.

From what I understand, Lion’s Arch was destroyed as part of the Living Story.

it seems odd to me, given all the technology of the asura, and the architectural marvels that are the race’s cities, that no rebuilding attempt has been made.

Lion’s Arch is a sovereign pirate city-nation. Their motto is “From ruin we prosper”. The only people repairing Lion’s Arch are the pirates kittenide there.

The Asuran government in Rata Sum won’t help Lion’s Arch. Why? There are no political or social connections between the two nations. Counselor Phlunt’s behavior also demonstrates that the Asuran government only care about themselves (See LS2: Episode 3 & 4).

Exactly, the only people who could help LA would by Kryta considering that the city is within the humans territory. Even if the Asura wanted to they could not just come from the sky with bags of gold without starting a conflict.

Gaile-

I’ve polled my guild to ask them what they want to do. The answer, overwhelmingly, was dungeons. Now, nearly everybody ALSO said they liked Living Story stuff, but dungeons came up time and time again as “we want to do more of this.”

If ArenaNet could commit to adding a new full dungeon (story + 3x explorable tied in with Living World with corresponding weapon and armor sets) every 6-9 months, you’d be providing endgame content for your most active players.

Imagine the Scarlet fight was Story and we got explorables investigating her creations! Marionette path, Toxic hybrid path, Holopath…

I would love this.

In the two years playing this game I have yet to do one dungeon that I actually felt like it told a story. And I wish ANET would just copy and paste what WoW did orginally with their dungeons. Have quests that lead up to the dungeon and make the dungeon feel like part of the zone itself.

Example in WoW look at old version new player zone Westfall. You walk into the zone and immediately notice a group of people who are being harassed by bandits and give you a quest to help them. You walk further and notice that bandits have literally taken over the whole map and the citizens are on the defensive. You find the leader of the milita and they ask for your help with the bandits and also send you on quests to figure out where the human army is. They realize they are on their own and once you get to the max level of the zone they send you after the leader of the bandits who is in a dungeon called the dead mines. The leader was actually an angry mason who was done wrong by the human nobility and it becomes a test of who is really wrong here. And once you complete it you get some of the best gear you can get in that level range.

Look at the comparable zone in guild wars. Queensdale when you enter the zone you notice it’s an all out war between humans and centaurs. And most of the quests involve the two but it’s just mindless killing and skirmishes. There is no, resolution for the player to the zone. The dungeon in the area has a story of it’s own but it has more to do with political battles than the centaurs. And the end of the dungeon is “Oh, ill keep my eye on the guy who obviously set all this up!”

Maybe it’s just me but the dungeons in GW2 have always just had this pointless and empty feeling aside from getting tokens and gold. And where I’m getting with all this is that WoW would take all those experiences from the zones and dungeons and lead them up to the end game content.

This game sort of does this with Destiny’s Edge but it was just poorly executed and intrusive on the player experience in my opinion.

And not to sound like I just want to attack ANET but I would just love to see a different approach taken. Look at the dungeons in WOW, people had real fun Doing Zul’Farrak, the Dead Mines, Scarlet Manor, etc. And the unique rewards you got doing them made it all that much better.

The dungeons we have are simply not fun and lack unique rewards stat wise. I think part of the reason is the balance ANET tried to create. No one has a real role in a group besides mashing 1, running in circles, and stacking. There is no group leader, there is no tank that everyone depends on to keep the much stronger enemies at bay, there is no healer to keep the group alive. The lack of roles eliminates the whole strategy aspect that you see in other games.

This exactly. You say we have soo much dungeons? We got 8. And we got them since 2 years now. They’re stale and not challenging at all. The only reason to still repeat them is to get the gold.

Fractals are not as old as dungeons and can be challenging, but that’s by far not enough to keep people interested for multiple years.

You say we got temporary content? Good, what can I do with it now? Exactly, nothing, it’s gone.

All PvE maps have no reason to be explored twice. There is no reson at all gameplay-wise to go back to Timberline Falls or Snowden Drifts.

We got a worldboss chain, which can be parted into waiting till the boss spawns and pressing 1 till the boss dies. So where exactly is the challenge? Why should I do that day by day for months?

The only endgame this game has is to either join any sort of PvP and seek for challenge (which gets complicated if we factor in the messed up balance) or to farm gold to get gems or legendaries or other fluff. There is no challange, no incentive to repeat the content other than to get the gold. Literally.

The only other “endgame” activity I can think of is to get achievvement points. That is one thing, I wonder how long this will keep the player interested.

It is not like this game is bad, it offers so many possibilities. But those don’t get picked up by the devs and I’m slowly but surely sick of waiting.

It’s nice to hear that atleast some members of the ANet staff think that this game is good how it is. But that doesn’t change my feeling that this game is lackluster.

This also.

When this game came out I had high hopes for it. And it seems like every month that hopes dies little by little for me. I mean at the rate this game is going with content it’s going to be about 6-10 years before we come to the conclusion of the dragons. And then there is Elona, the locked maps, etc.

I want to enjoy this game I really do but I have lost interest in skins and other cosmetics. I could care less about having more than 500 gold. And my gear is good enough to do all end game content if they do not raise the levels. Which I do not see them ever doing because that will make all that farming people have done a waste of time.

Maybe, you should not mistake the quantity of what can be considered an end game with quality of it. Perhaps many people who complain about lack of end game, mean that there’s no challenge in it for them, meaning there’s no entertainment there, as soon as you’re done with leveling, dungeons etc. once, you’re sorta through with all of it. Content is not worth repeating due to lack of challenge/rewards or both, nothing to achieve. It’s just an example, i’am not trying to state something here, not yet, but just as a possible pov of those people.

Because. I never thought that GW2 necessarily lacked, so called, end game activities. There were plenty of them. However, what i repeatedly experienced during my GW2 experience is:
- What shall i do? Dungeons? Sorta meh, because it’s boring stacking faceroll, it’s not even rewards or whatever, it’s just a faceroll, indistinguishable experience of it, of every run. It’s not entirely bad, because it’s ok that you can sometimes go and faceroll through some stuff for whatever, be it tokens, gold, time killing, or just puny bit of fun with couple of friends. But it’s not exactly good either, no matter how you look at it.
- Then what? FotM? Well, same, more or less. And i’am lazy to go deeper.
- Okay, maybe WvW then? Yea well, stick with the zerg, try to turn off your brain, spam 1 and collect loot buttons, enjoy 5-25 fps, woo much fun. No. You see, it’s the quality of it, that’s what i meant. It’s POOR. Doesn’t really matter how often tournaments you will make and how long they will be, they all gonna suck. Just because problem lies elsewhere.
- Fine! PvP then. Yea… There’s a hot join, which, if properly, should be named “Hot Mess” where all of the new souls can be corrupted and given all the wrong ideas about what the PvP is actually about. There’s a SoloQ, which is often frustrating for many people and also semi dead for … well, way too often. Then, there’s also TeamQ, cool, also semi dead though. Then, suddenly, there’s also the fact, which become obvious and apparent especially in PvP, that this game is still horribly bug infested. Yea, you missed your “input your something/skill”, okay — who cares. If yo’re in PvE. Try to tell that to yourself in PvP. #Esports! There’s also lack of game modes, balance, variety in builds. #Esports! #2

kittening QUALITY!?

This x100. People are very accepting when it comes to the shortcoming of this game because it’s pretty much a free MMO after the orginal purchase. But the truth is if you took some of the content in this game and put it in another game like WOW players would be absolutely outraged.

The part that irks me the most is that to get good gear you have to farm even more than you do in flipping WOW. And the gear in WOW actually gives you a competitive advantage over other players and NPC enemies and WOW has situational gear.

I’d sincerely like to know where this rumor originated. No endgame? Is a new story campaign, giant map (and completion), crafting, a new set of dungeons, obtaining legendary weapons, and 3 new areas of the map opening up just not enough for you?
Really, where did this originate?

After playing WOW for three years calling this endgame is a big joke.

Crafting is a chore with no real benefit besides bragging rights. The dungeons range between terrible to average, none of them are good. And cool, new farming area’s how joyful.

The new story line has been okay so far but many people like me ONLY logged on to play the story and have not logged back on since.

The Future of Dragon Battles

in Living World

Posted by: BlackGhostz.2483

BlackGhostz.2483

Well one thing the Marionette did right, was allow a huge number of players to fight her, while splitting them up into smaller teams, and then splitting them up again into even smaller teams. This allowed each player to feel like the battle was personal. It was just you and a few allies against one boss (while fighting on the platforms obviously).

This is something I’d welcome for the Elder Dragon battles as well. This massive feeling, where the battle still feels personal. A battle where regardless of the huge number of players participating, one player can still feel like she made a difference.

The bad part about that is that is not a sustainable method for content. People went in huge numbers to that event because it was temporary, had decent loot, and was the main focus of that game at that time.

This will not be the last elder dragon (although I highly many people stick around two more years for another one). So when the next dragon comes along you would be unable to have massive groups to take down an elder dragon. Heck, it’s a challenge to get a group for Arah sometimes even after the megaserver.

But I hate to say it guys. I do not have high hopes for ANET when it comes to these Elder Dragon fights. If it’s too hard people will not do it because this game targets casual gamers.

I agree with what most people are saying. To be honest this game has a lot of untapped potential the story of the game is solid and it has a lot of room to grow.

I would for one be happy if they just fixed the flipping dungeons they are really terrible and not fun. God, that is one of my best memories about WoW dungeon moments at lower levels used to be so fun and crazy! Or that moment when you bully lower level players and then their friends come and your friends come and it turns the map into a massive battlefield and you end up not doing the quest you came to do. Guild Wars has just always seemed to lack the “fun” part.

I think the art, combat, and game world are excellent. The ‘core’ of the game, that was mostly in place at launch, was great.

However, with an MMO, there’s often an expectation of content growth/expansion.

The game doesn’t feel like it’s really expanded that much. In a sense it feels like many of the updates are “running in place”, remixing old content or adding new systems around existing content, instead of truly expanding the game.

I would’ve liked to see more new combat additions (e.g. new skills, traits, weapon types, classes). I would’ve liked to see more permanent maps (new continents!) and dungeons added in 2 years. The PvP modes and “high end” instanced PvE still feel neglected.

I think the devs made mistakes from an opportunity cost perspective, in the features/content they chose to develop.

I’ve had a lot of fun with the game and still enjoy it, but there’s also a feeling of disappointment from what I think the game could’ve become.

For some reason, I’ve long suspected that the development team is significantly understaffed…

I agree.

A lot of the zones just seem empty and pointless to visit. And this whole dragons vs the world is just getting boring to me. And like I said boring to me my opinion is not meant for anyone else.

I think this game would be more fun if it were more Charr vs Human centered.

Is there anything good about GW2?

This is what’s wrong with Guild Wars 2. It was a game that was made for the players. Not a game made to give the players the best experience. You can tell at times ANET is running on a serious budget because of the lack of a subscription.

To elaborate on this and yes, we have to compare it to WoW because WoW has undoubtedly been the best MMO.

In GW2 the instanced dungeons are pretty terrible and lack real rewards unless you essentially farm tokens. And this farming has lead to mindless repetition of COF where new players can’t even get five seconds to even watch the cut scenes without being left behind or booted.

In WoW you can essentially earn money by the means you choose to. If you want to farm crafting materials from enemies to sell you are not penalized by this. If you want to earn money by questing you can earn a lot of money on this alone. If you want to earn money by foraging that is also an great way. In GW2 the only way to farm. Yes, you can get 1 gold for a 10-30 minute dungeon but anything worth having costs 2000+ gold.

High level gear in this game can really only be obtained by crafting and that means having massive amounts of gold, which involves massive amounts of farming. So pretty much only the people that play a lot of hours or spend a lot of real money can get legendary gear. In, wow it’s a lot more rewarding and you get to choose how you want to get your high level gear. There is raiding, PVP, crafting, etc.

Raids I’m still not sure I consider the open world bosses in Guild Wars raiding.

And do not get me started on Zerg vs Zerg I mean Guild wars pvp.

I love that Guild Wars 2 is very casual and free after you buy. I stopped playing WoW because I was honestly playing that game way to much and it was costly. It’s a good game but if your looking for a more polished experience and can afford it just play WoW.

The Risen will remain until they are destroyed or another force takes control of them. Let’s not forget about the rising threat in Elona he could pose to be a bigger threat than Zhaitan was.

Just looking at tactical situations the Humans have the best chance to actually win any war based on current land holdings. The Charr have no viable way to attack DR they would literally have to march through mountains and other armies just to even reach the outlying human territories. And it’s not like the Charr could go around the mountains because it would because they would have to cross even more dangerous territory.

But once again and you even hear this in game. The moment the majority of the Charr army leaves Ascalon the ghosts will sack that territory if the branded, orges, or human bandits don’t beat them to it.

How would the humans attack if the charr can’t?

Look at the map and I’m not trying to sound like I have too much bias.

Ebonhawke is in Charr territory and it has a portal that is directly connected to the human capital city. The humans have a way to attack the Charr in Ascalon but if the Charr wanted to attack the humans they would have to cross major ground. And this would be impossible without attacking Ebonhawke first which for obvious reasons would not go down without major losses. At that point the Charr army would hardly even be handle internal threats.

And then something else is that people forget that Lions Arch and the Vigil Keep sit in human lands. The Charr would not be able to just march into the GF and attack the Ascalonian settlement without intervention from Lions Arch especially.

The Charr have an impressive army but right now they lack the power to do much besides defense and support.

Yeah, anything big in this game honestly is a target not an asset. One might look at a big Charr or Norn in heavy armor and think wow how could a puny human stand up to that? But in reality in this game Skritt and Asura warriors can go toe to toe with enemies much larger than them.

And that was actually a little funny what someone else pointed out about the Charr. Since they took Ascalon city what has happened to them? 1/4 of their army and arguably their most powerful single legion has broken off. As of right now the ghosts are slowly but surely giving them heavy casualties. A dragon pretty much claimed a huge chunk of their territory. And not another elder dragon has made a presence in their lands.

Not to mention IF the Charr ever went to war with the humans Ebonhawke has access to a pandora’s box of sorts. The gate to the crystal desert is all that is keeping either an undead army or a massive army of branded from getting into the Fields of Ruin. If Ebonhawke were to face a massive attack from the Charr the Humans would surely open the gates and retreat to DR through the Asura gate.

All this talk of technology is non sense. This is a video game that has dragons and magic…..The laws of our world to not apply to the world in this game. Zombies could kick a Charr tank enough times in this game and destroy it.

I’m with you I love the game but gosh it’s just gotten unbearable. The only reason I even still play is the hope that they will fix it.

Arctinus well what do you expect for people to be on the knees shouting about Dry Top? It’s a dull desert map that doesn’t really offer anything besides more grinding for cosmetics and recipes that require more grinding.

Maybe it’s just me but I think Anet could learn a thing or two from Blizzard when it comes to maps. I like the beautiful design that Anet goes for but the maps always feel big yet very small.

I just feel like if this were content that people were paying for monthly EVERYONE would be furious. I mean sure it’s free and the mystery was interesting for a little while but after about five minutes Dry Top got old.

I understand this living story is a ploy to keep players “active” buy not allowing them to just beat the expansion in a few weeks and stop playing. But at the same time being spoon feed episodes is just not as exciting. I really wish they would just charge $20 for a real expansion with real content.

When he said bad state he probably meant like Elona. Cantha is the biggest city in the game of course there will be civil unrest but I highly doubt a dragon was able to wipe them out.

I’m not debating that if you have the Charr army on a field and the Human army on the opposite that the humans would not be easily routed. I’m debating the the humans even in the weakened state have a 70% chance to repel a Charr invasion due to the location of human military points.

The only race with a weak capital city and weak military is the Slyvari.

Rym, your still ignoring the concrete facts. From a militaristic standpoint the Charr are in the absolute worst position in Tyria to lauch a major offensive. You can’t pick and choose which strengths and weaknesses you want.

For the Charr to even move their army they would have to defeat Ebonhawke which has proven to be impossible for 250 years. Read that again, the Charr have been attacking for 250 years and have still not taken it and now it’s backed by Kryta. And after the heavy losses the Charr would have in the Fields of Ruin you seems to act like the Ghost would just sit idle while all this is happening.

Then you also seem to ignore the Human bandits, the dragon minions, and Orges who are engaging the Charr. They may be able to defeat the humans in their homeland with a full unified military effort but there is not way more than 20% of their forces could even make it to the Gendarran Fields.

Horst, see that doesn’t make sense in my opinion. If the gods are not powerful enough to take on the dragons yet mortals with a medium size rag tag army are able to take on the dragons then I find it hard to believe that the gods would turn tail and run. When the gods were around the humans pretty much controlled everything and the combined forces of Ascalon, Kyrta, Elona, Cantha, and the gods would have easily overwhelmed any of the dragons. So to me it seems as if the gods were literally not allowed to interfere with the dragons by some higher power.

And something else you said if the dragons are part of the eternal alchemy then killing them may have some dire consequence. During our glimpse of the eternal alchemy we have six orbs and one green orb that attacks the main orb which likely signifies the jungle dragon. Yet there is no representation of the gods. This to me points that the gods have nothing to do with the eternal alchemy and that they are something else.

The gods could have fought the dragons and would have had a huge advantage with the human army considering the dragons wake one at a time and do not seem to interfere with each other. Yet the gods so far have chosen not to interfere with the human wars or the events of the dragons. Why?

It seems like there is something more powerful than the dragons and the humans that is really pulling the strings.

Obviously he plans to attack all the leaders at the summit. But if it were a single character he would attack the player, Trahern or whatever his name is, or the Pale Tree. None of the racial leaders dying would do much damage to that races war effort.

You could make a argument for Queen Jennah’s death having a huge impact though. If she died and Caudecus took over the humans would become isolationist.

BlackGhostz.2483

But yeah a Charr military offensive just has a low chance of succeed due to the location of all the races now. Like I said before defeating Ebonhawke would be no simply task for the Charr especially if Kyrta sent in reinforcements. By the time the time the Charr breached the gate they would have had heavy losses by human archers and catapults. Then the humans would simply retreat to Kyrta.

Then the Charr would be forced to march through mountains where the humans would have certainly allied with the Norn to kick them out of the Norn homelands.

The Charr would never be able to reach Kyrta unless they somehow built a massive Navy.

Okay there are some very flawed debates here that are solely based on bias. First of all for this to happen the Charr would have to defeated the humans in a fair fight. The Charr were only able to defeat Ascalon with a weapon of mass destruction and if you want to be technical they still have yet to completely defeat Ascalon. The ghost of Ascalon constantly engage them, human bandits harass their lands, and Ebonhawke Stronghold has consistently defeated Charr forces for decades without falling once.

The Charr do not want to admit it but their Army is stretched thin dealing with the Flame Legion and the rebel humans. If they ever tried to move their army out of their homeland the Black Citadel would fall in a matter of days. Not to mention for this actually to happen the Charr would have to defeat Ebonhawke which would probably cost them at least 1/3 of their total forces. Then they would have to march through the cold subject guerrilla warfare from the humans.

And IF the Charr were able to reach Kryta they would have to come through the Gendarran Fields which is technically Human territory. You could not expect the Lion Guard to just sit idle while this is happening and if they did that they would risk war with the humans if the humans won the war. And yet again IF they Charr somehow managed to get through the Gendarran Fields they would be under constant Guerrilla attacks in Queensdale.

This whole scenario is assuming that the Norn just let the Charr pass through their homeland. Which is unlikely in itself.
