I have been stealth reading the forums for a while now and have been a ranger for over three years. The history of ranger balance which i have witnessed during this time is a sad one. Stealth nerf, unannounced and nerfs which catapulted good things out of viability(looking at you spirits), shape our everypatch life. On the other hand, i also know that many of us rangers can be so creative at times when it comes to balance. This is why i am suggesting the following: a selected group of experienced ranger players, of the best theirycrafters and the most creative of us rangers. This group would be in direct contact with Irenio, be informed of issues he has on his mind concerning ranger balance and ultimately suggest solutions to the issues. Whether irenio actually uses these, is up to him, of course, but it would certainly improve further balance.
Depending on ANets policy, these people may have to sign certain secrecy agreements and the like, but i think it would still be a huge step toward improving the ranger profession.
What do you guys think? Do you reckon something like that makes sense? Or am i being too optimistic?

As stated in the title, I am currently looking for a smallish guild with people who have the same mindset as i do; I always try to find a way to win and dont want to run, just because there might be more people fighting me. I never back off a challenge, but i dont rage when I get killed. Also, while roaming, there should always be space for some fun and a familiar feeling within the guild is a must.
A little bit something about me:
I have been playing Guild Wars 2 since app. 3 years, heavily focusing on PvP and WvW. While I have been part of several mid-tier pvp teams, my focus has always been on WvW roaming. Since Release, I have been playing the ranger class, due to its high 1v1 capability and I am confident to say that there are only few people who can beat me on it. However, i dont mind being proven the opposite, i would even appreciate it if i found someone that beats me without fail and who i can strive to overcome.

Been having the exact same issue here. After building my new pc this friday and downloading gw2, i constantly get this error in wvw, no matter the map. I notice you do have pretty similar specs as i do, same graphics card etc. could it be a driver issue? Have you also tried -repair function and it didnt work?

the problem with trap builds are mostly playing against classes with many condi removes. until you reach a certain level in pvp, you can beat any1 easily, even cele eles and shoutbows. But after reachng that point, you cant beat them, cause they dont commit easy mistakes and, like eura said, they simply mitigate the damage. However, those are only two builds in this meta. you can still beat any other builds than those two. It is decent, but can also be hardcountered.

i tried this build out just now in tpvp, some four games or so, and somehow i feel that, despite living forever and putting out great heal some might stacking as well, its 1v1 capabilities seem… limited to say the least, every fight takes forever and is mostly ended by a thief dropping by to kill you… have you had similar experiences with this build or am i simply playing it dead wrong?^^

Like mentionned in the title, i am a ranger with 600+ games who recently lost his team and now i am looking for a ambitioned team with which i can progress to top 200 and participate in various tournament to come or even in the esl. I pretty much know ranger in and out, have played almost every build that is out there, which left me with playing spirit ranger. But depending on your team setup, if you give me some games to get used to the build i can also play power, conditank or even beastmaster if needed.

Well, a good power ranger could outkite condi ranger before, they just had to be REALLY good. As it stands, I have yet to see anyone that good.

Based on pure mechanics however, it is a much easier match up for the condi ranger.

coarr why be so negative? i mean sure the players he fought werent top-notch but they hardly ever are. and i dont think you really have a right to complain about his build, while you are still using your old power/regen ranger with pirate rune, if i am not mistaken. a good advice: we may be going up against gandara soon in a marchup, so go duel him, beat him and then complain.

if you would implement this, it would srsly suck, because then the ranger would be there without any 1h condition weapon. this is why i would like you to either introduce the pistol as condition weapon or rework the axe so that it becomes a condition weapon

would really appreciate it if you founded the guild sevans. i think Favorable Winds is a very good name. I really like the system that the mesmer guild has with the teacher, student and leader ranks. but i think the names should differ in a way to make the guild more ranger-specific. we could do an all ranger pvp tournament sometimes. Is there and server whose ts we could use for communication? and how would we get the new members? should it be international and server independant?

hm… yeah i think we need to organise this because if just everybidy manes one with his own name we would end up with 4 guilds and not 1.

btw can there be guilds that are on EU and on america?

yeah thats probably true but then about 95% of my opponents are just nabs^^ so if an elite works on 95% of all players it is still pretty okay^^

nope i won quite many fights because of this elite if you use fear from wolf and then entangle the opponent eats kitten for a while^^

come on entangle is really fun and useful

I know it probably isnt a new complaint but… srsly wtf are traps even doing in the precision traitline? i mean there are no real buffs in this traitline that support traps even so slightly… you put like 30 points into a useless traitline to get traps…. Pls Anet try to comment on this an change this
