You’re not alone dude, Infact I’m in the exact same situation as you, coming back after a while and noticed the same thing. I made a thread a few days ago which got a little attention but not much. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/Australia-player-Unplayable-lag/first#post6736477

It isn’t just GW2, I’m an ESO player and the exact same issue is occurring there as well. From what little info I could gather, over the last month or two something happened with a lot of Aussie players ISP’s which has caused a disruption with the routing to the US (Texas I think?) servers.

I’m still working on a fix and I’ll let you know if I discover anything, in the mean time some acknowledgement from a dev would be hugely appreciated. I happen to know for a fact this is plaguing a vast majority of OCE players right now.

I’ve just come back after a long break and I’ve been unable to play due to constant disconnections and 1k+ latency.

Are there any other Aussie players out there experiencing this kind of lag? Is there something happening that Anet is already aware of? and finally, without any in game tech support to help with this issue (AFAIK) is there any advice anyone can give me to fix this?

Thank you.

I’m going to bump this because I don’t want an issue which A LOT of Oceanic players are experiencing right now get ignored on the “Account & Technical Support” forum. I think this is something which deserves attention.

Since the raid patch all (literally all) of my guild mates who are in Australia including myself have seen our latency climb to an average of 350-450. This isn’t a coincidence and it’s been nearly a fortnight now that we’ve been putting up with this.

I’ve scanned Reddit, these forums and other sources and haven’t seen any official responses or solutions, as of right now GW2 is virtually unplayable.

I’m experiencing the exact same issue as you guys.

Australian player, usually 250 average latency. Since the raid patch been sat on a consistent 350-450 latency with constant jumps to 1k resulting in the game being unplayable for the past week.

Hope this gets some attention soon cuzzz yeahhh this is pretty bad.

Hey Karl,

Been playing all day and here’s a few quick things.

First off, LOVE the changes to Unhindered Combatant (Dash). The animation is perfection, no matter what weapon you have unsheathed whilst dashing it looks perfect. The dodge is smooth and functions properly, No further changes necessary.

Staff skills:

Staff #1: The damage is better, I still think every chain should apply vulnerability or something, there’s still very little incentive to use AA if you can help it.

Staff #2: Making it stick to your target like Heartseeker has improved this skill tremendously, however deciding to reduce the distance it travels was a mistake. Besides Vault this skill was our only gap closer until the distance was reduced.

Staff #3: I still don’t understand the thought process behind this skill. Daredevils are by design meant to be brawlers who excel at staying on our opponents, this skill contradicts the playstyle by sending us vaulting away from our opponent, why?

Simply change Debilitating arc so it sends us rolling towards our target rather than away from and you have a winner.

Staff #4: No words can properly describe how much I hate this skill. Simply put, I won’t even be hotkeying anything to Dust Strike, it’s useless in every way. 4 Initiative for a small amount of damage and a short blind? again, don’t understand the thought process behind this skill.

How to make Staff 4 useful? easy! listen to the majority of feedback 9/10 players have been giving you since BWE2 and make it do this:

Dust Strike

Slam your staff into the ground, blinding enemies around you.

Damage: 523
Blindness (2 sec): Next outgoing attack misses.
Number of targets: 5
Pulses: 2
Duration: 2 sec
Interval: 1 sec
Radius: 180
Combo Field: Smoke

Staff #5: You mentioned a little while back that you were considering adding an evade frame to Vault at the cost of raising the ini cost back to 6, ok? so what happened? The majority of Daredevils out there all agree this change is needed.

Currently (from a PvP standpoint) Vault is just too difficult to land on a player. It’s too telegraphed and with no Stability or evade frame there are too many things which can interrupt it, Daze/Stun/Push back/Fear…the list goes on, and considering Vault is the bread and butter of the staff skill set, we need to be able to land this in PvP at least 6 times out of 10.

That’s all the feedback I have to give right now, the utilities are pretty solid.

One last thing, a few bugs to report from playing today.

Vault – 50% of the time when I use Vault as an opener on my target (havn’t damaged the target with anything else yet) Vault does no damage.

Unhindered Combatant: Very occasionally, I will randomly become Immobilized after the animation finishes.

Thanks Karl.

People need to accept that not everything is going to perfectly synergize. No matter how useful SR might be, not everyone uses it. In sPvP yeah sure! but PVE, WvW? Not necessarily.

Designing the new dodges to accommodate a skill that not everyone uses makes no sense, especially when said skill (SR) does little to compliment the Daredevil playstyle.

It’s very simple guys, if you want to use SR and be able to pull off reliable dodges within the circle, don’t take Dash.

Agreed on NOT removing swiftness from dash. It’s main point is now to either break immobilize without initiative and grant the ability to gfto through swiftness.

Corrected this for you as I’m assuming that’s what you meant.

Why don’t you consider removing the swiftness from Dash

How bout NO!!

Why are you making suggestions to remove even more things from the dodges? Swiftness is partly what makes Dash what it is, allowing Thieves access to perma swiftness through the use of dodging is one of the things im looking forward to the most with DD, removing the staple of Signet of Shadows or Traveler runes is godly for players like me who cant live without the run speed.

If Karl even considers removing Swiftness from Dash, that will kill it for me. Lets stop with those suggestions please.

Karl,

Some great responses to our feedback here, its good to see you have actually been listening.

First off I would still really like to see some improvements to the way we hold our staves so it doesn’t look like we are lugging around a sledgehammer.

Weakening Charge: 100 times yes to making it targeted ala Heartseeker, it needs it otherwise it’s simply too difficult to land and displaces us from combat too much.

Vault: Reducing the cast time was a great move, I personally vote for giving it an evade while keeping the ini cost at 6. It makes no sense for the Lotus dodge to behave like Death Blossom buy not have Vault behave like Bounding Dodger.

Looking good so far Karl, lets get it working before BWE3, then Daredevil will have my vote.

[Daredevil] - Feedback

in Thief

Posted by: Bloodwine.6450

Bloodwine.6450

I’d just like to start off by saying that it’s a little worrying that it’s been a week since the BWE2 and we haven’t heard zip from Karl.

Everyone has pretty much summed up the problems with the DD already, but having participated in the weekend I’m going to throw out my feedback regardless.

Key things that I believe need to be seen to before the next BWE (hopefully at least before launch). This is mostly from a PvPers perspective.

Dodges

  • This is actually the one thing Karl did comment on, and yeah I think it goes without saying the way the new dodges function is fine except for the obvious delay before and after the dodge itself.

Auto chain

  • It’s too slow for a start, I actually felt the Revs staff auto was quicker. On top of that the damage was very lackluster, I would like to see every attack apply vulnerability or something to make it worth using. I didn’t use it much in PvP.

Weakening Charge

  • The damage is fine, the condi application and whirl finisher is fine, basically everything about it is fine except the way it behaves…sending you charging to whichever direction you’re facing rather than towards your target. It needs to function similar to Heartseeker in that it sticks to your opponent.

Debilitating Arc

  • Aside from the evade and the immob cleanse I really don’t understand the purpose of this ability. The whole point of the DD from what we were shown in the reveal is to be constantly in your opponents face dishing out hurt, so why do we have an ability that send us away from our foe? we have shortbow #3 doing the exact same thing why would be want it on our staff?

Dust Strike

  • Again, why do we have an ability designed to be used at range with our staff? I didn’t use this, at all. It does measly damage and send a 5 sec blind to my opponent IF I hit them with it, big whoop. Not to mention how slow the skill is to cast.

Vault

  • The bread & butter of the Daredevil, pretty much the only ability that does noticeable damage. It hits like a truck if you manage to successfully land it, and it looks awesome when you perform it, cool! However I have one issue with Vault, it’s soooooo kittening SLOW! I had such a hard time in PvP trying to land this without the aid of an immobilize or using the Vault/Steal combo.
  • Vault needs a faster animation, simple as that. Either that or at the very least add a 1/2 sec evade to it whilst vaulting. Most of the guys I fought had so much time to react to it to the point where a dodge wasn’t even necessary…they just needed to move out of the way :\

Channelled Vigor

  • I didn’t use this. The heal and endurance gain was great, the 20 sec CD was great, being a channelled heal on a class that relies on mobility was not great. The only situation I found it safe to use was when I was stealthed, but I don’t really have much access to stealth as a Daredevil. Myeh! too easily interruptible, not a fan.

Impairing Daggers

  • My favourite skill, LOVED it! The animation was awesome, it felt awesome, it does great damage and applies slow and only has a base 25 sec CD..what’s not to like!? I don’t want to be negative but considering this is literally the only skill people haven’t complained about, wouldn’t surprise me if it actually gets nerfed -_- (but hopefully not, leave it be)

Distracting Daggers

  • Coupled with Impacting Disruption I can see this doing some good, but ultimately I hated this skill. The 15 second window you have to cast these daggers is pointless and makes it difficult to use. When you consider that 15 sec window, you basically have to cast it while in the middle of a fight, problem is who has the time to cast for 1 second, THEN start throwing just to pull off some potential interrupts? The only good thing about this skill is the fast projectile speed, that’s it. If it functioned more like a Mantra, then we’ll talk.

Bandit’s Defence

  • I didn’t mind it! a block and stun breaker on a 10 second CD is pretty baller (despite hearing Karl mention in the POI he plans to increase it to 15 seconds). I’ll probably be using this, I found it handy in most situations. Only quarry with BD was the inability to cancel the block by any means.

Fist Flurry

  • I didn’t have much luck with this. Most of the time landing that 5th fist was a pain, and then I was left having used a skill slot for a 17,90 damage ability, not very worth it if you don’t land all hits, which you’ll only do 40% of the time. Palm strike was obviously VERY nice, but again…a lot of effort for a moderate amount of damage. Wasn’t a huge fan of watching my weapon mystically disappear either.

Impact Strike

  • No reason to take any other elite over this, I liked it. The damage of all three chains is great, and works perfectly to secure a kill, assuming you don’t get interrupted and have it go on cooldown, which seemed to happen to me a lot. Only thing I’d like to add is seeing my own finisher at the end of the chain rather than the default flag.

I won’t go into detail regarding the traitline, I actually think it’s all pretty good! /thumbsup

In closing – The Daredevil was sold to us as a nimble, fluid “death machine”, but after the BWE I don’t feel like I got what was advertised. The recycled animations are awful, I’m not lugging around a hammer, I’m carrying a combat staff I mean cmon guys. Overall most of the animations are slow and clunky, I don’t feel nimble and although the DD was playable, it’s obviously in a placeholder state and needs a ton of work.

We have 6 weeks until launch, Karl? Roy? anyone? I’m really hoping we start getting some attention soon, because if most of the above issues get resolved, Daredevil will definitely be taking over as my main.

What's the purpose of BWE?

Bloodwine.6450

So it’s been 4 days now since the BWE2 came to a close, and we’ve all had plenty of time to voice our opinions and concerns regarding the new Thief elite spec – Daredevil.

Now I’m left wondering, how long should be expect to wait to hear some constructive and hopefully promising responses from the devs (Karl to be more precise) to all of the feedback?

I’ve noticed a certain feeling of…neglect within the Thief community. I’ll go check out the Revenant forum for example and find plenty of responses from Roy on many topics, but 4 days post Beta I can hear crickets in this forum.

One good example was a post on their forum reading something along the lines of,

Forum: “Hey Roy! loved the Revenant, but I think a lot of the abilities need their damage increased.”

Roy: “Yeah sure, I’ve increased these abilities by X%, should be ready by BWE2”.

Forum: “Thanks Roy!!”.

Forum: “Hey Roy, not a pressing issue but it would be so cool if you could give Revs a cool mist effect when they dodge, a possiblity?”.

Roy: “Sounds cool, I’ve tried out some things and it’s looking great! won’t be ready by BWE2 but it’s in the works

Forum: “WOW! thanks Roy!!

Now with the Thief feedback thread…

Forum: "Hey Karl, there’s about 7 pages of people who all agree the Daredevil needs the following:

  • Better animations for staff
  • Staff #2 to behave like Heartseeker and stick you to your target
  • An evade or at least reduce the animation time on Vault
  • Better working GM dodges
  • A fix to the painfully long list of bugs we’ve already found

“Any chance you could ease our pain and fill us in on how you’re going to combat these issues?”

Karl: “I’m fixing the GM dodges”

Ok that’s something? buuuuut I’m still left wondering where the DD sits at this point.

The fact is I had really high hopes for the DD, I had to change my pants twice before boarding the hype train after DD got announced, however after playing it I ended up feeling a bit depressed (like most people) and doubting whether Daredevil will make the cut come expansion time.

We have 6 weeks until the expansion Karl, if you want the Thief community to stay aboard the Daredevil hype train we seriously need to be fed some hope. Please don’t leave us hanging too long.

Bloodwine.6450

Hey guys!

Really enjoyed testing out Glint this last BWE, felt very strong and flowed nicely. I’m very tempted to make Rev my new focus come HoT time but there’s just one little thing which has been bugging me a little, the Facet animation.

I’m talking about the big bright circle which appears under my feet whenever I ready up a Facet, along with the humming music that accompanies it. I know there’s probably a douzen other things I could be complaining about the Rev (honestly can’t think of anything) but I’m a little but OCD when it comes to certain things, and whilst roaming with Facet of Elements for my perma swiftness I got really turned off by the constant humming and Paladin like aura making funny textures going over certain terrain.

Is there ever going to be an option to disable either of these things or is this just one of those times where I should just suck it up if I want to play Herald?

This is what I’ve come up with for my roaming playstyle.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vZAQJAWVn0MB1OhVmCGmCkmiFYCzLMEHaDzhwTYLULBEAyAA-TlCFwAl0BA4JAIQJISlYJVekRTQt9HicBAWcIAUp+DpAqSnF-w

The gear is based on what I’ve actually got.

  • Rune of the Pack – Synergizes perfectly with Unhindered Combatant, allowing for perma swistness whilst travelling. I would have preferred Bounding Dodger but for it to be worthwhile you will need to hit your opponent with it 9 times out of 10, which probably won’t be easy.
  • Flanking Strikes – Yeah this ones debatable, personally I just love the feeling when that quickness pops. Plus it couples nicely with Trickster, someone earlier said FS is trash? a 36 sec CD/stun breaker/condi removal/6 sec quickness hardly seems trash.
  • Scorpion Wire – With trickster provides me an additional condi removal on a 16 sec CD, a tool to grab ranged opponents and an interrupt for Pulmonary procs. Again, debatable but I think it could work.

Overall I’m happy with my stats, 16k health is comfortable, my only concern is the low crit, being sat on 40%. If someone could confirm whether or not 40% is considered “too low” that would be great.

Let me know your thoughts.

Hey guys,

I’ve recently achieved 100% map completion, and for the first time since launch actually started considering crafting a legendary for myself. Apparently there are new legendaries coming with the release of HoT, so I have some questions.

With the inclusion of the new purples, what sort of crafting materials should we expect to be required to craft one? Having just received my Gift of Exploration I’m kind of hoping this will remain a baseline material for the new legendaries and not strictly for the pre-existing ones.

So is there any sort of info on the new recipes yet? and how will the acquisition of the new legendaries differ?

Thanks in advance.

FPS optimisation help

Hey guys,

Need someone who’s tech savvy to help me optimise my graphics and get the best possible framerate with my system.

My system specs are roughly the following:

Intel core i7 CPU 860 2.80 GHz

Nvidia GTX 760 video card

12gig RAM

I also have an attached screenshot of my current in game graphic options which are set to “auto detect”.

Regarding the in game settings, I need help knowing what I should be turning down to get better framerate. Currently I run an average of 40 FPS which usually drops to 20-35 during combat or in larger scale areas (WvW).

I’d like to see it rise to an average of 50-60, may not seem like a huge rise, especially with what people say about the eye only being able to see 30 FPS anyway, but while tinkering I lowered my overall settings to “Best performance”, and I noticed the difference between 30 and 50 frames A LOT performance wise.

So what should I be turning down?

Thanks for any help you guys can give me.

Hey guys,

Been away for a while and just come back to discover the changes they’ve made to the trait system, now I need some help deciding where to go from here.

I played a Ham/GS Knight build prior to the changes, and it was my understanding most players roamed/zerged in full Toughness builds while in WvW, now I see a lot of players showing off their full Zerk builds and it’s got me thinking.

I’m pretty bored with Ham builds, I kind of want to switch to using my axe in WvW, found it really fun when I tried it a while ago, now I need opinions on this build I recently concocted.

Some quick explanation to my build, shield for shield bash (for lining up evis) and greatsword for some added mobility. By using Knights i’m trading 300 power, 15% crit damage and Might duration (strength sig) for 500 toughness and 65% cond/stun reduction.

Bottom line, is having Knights armor and Melandru runes a good idea when playing an Evis build? and what changes would you guys make to the build. Is there a current Meta for Evis builds?

Thanks for any input guys

So anyway, after using a Mesmers Blink teleport or a Thieves Shadowstep, my character will stand perfectly still while appearing to iceskate, and the animation can only be fixed by jumping or moving sideways.

For me, this is a pretty big issue because it ruins the whole feel when I teleport, and just looks ridiculous.

If this is a known issue which has been dating back 8 months, how has this not been addressed yet?…to be frank, it doesn’t seem like it would be that difficult to fix.
