Thanks for making this. My mesmer alt just got to 80 and this is a great guide on where to begin with builds.
The GW2 Wiki has images of every section of every zone in the game. Usually you can look at your in game map and see what part is still blurry (because you haven’t been there) and then check the GW2 Wiki map to see what area it is and help on how to get there.
For example here is Plains of Ashford: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/images/b/bf/Plains_of_Ashford_map.jpg
Every white outlined section is a different area which can be explored. Once you have gone there the in game map will no longer be blurry and the name will appear. This makes it really easy to check which areas you still need to visit.
Good luck and happy exploring!
When I try to log in to GW2 I am now greeted with a window I have never seen before that says “Repairing data archive…” I have no option to cancel or otherwise ignore this window. The client then seems to run a GW2 Repair.
Because the download speed is so slow I am unable to play. I used to have the option to ignore the ‘repair’ option but now it looks like it is forcing me to do so.
Is this intended? If so I am very disappointed as I will not be able to play when this pops up due to the incredibly slow speed in which it is running. 99% of the time when I had an option to repair my data, I would ignore it and experience zero problems.
What is this new repair function and can I turn it off?
Yup. Just casually scrolling through Facebook while on a break at work and BAM!
HERE’S THE MAJOR SPOILER FOR YOU TO SEE AT 3:00 PM PST!! OH, YOU WORK? HAHA OH WELL YOU DIDNT WANT TO BE SURPRISED BY THE STORY DID YOU?
(edited by Cain.1278)
I know who the assassin is. How do I know this?
Because I played all the content and saw the story unfold?
No! I know this because ANET decided to post the info on their Facebook page and completely spoil the story for everyone who hasn’t had a chance to see the new content that came out TODAY.
Seriously, STOP POSTING SPOILERS.
Edit: I removed the spoiler from my title.

The achievement for Winner’s Circle only progresses if your moa wins 1st place.
Moas that placed 2nd or 3rd will still give vouchers but will not progress that achievement.
Thanks for the response!
I guess the bug is in my favor at the moment since I got it from the 3rd place finish!
I started playing the Moa Race mini-game after the patch that mentions fixing it. Here is my experience:
1st race: 3rd place – achievement credit received
2nd race: 2nd place – no achievement credit
3rd race: 5th place – no achievement credit
4th race: 3rd place – no achievement credit
5th race: 2nd place – no achievement credit
I stopped at this point. My achievement bar says 33% complete (1 out of 3 needed). Obviously I never came in first, but I did receive credit for the initial race I bet on and came in 3rd. So something is odd.
Can we confirm that you need to come in first for credit (and therefore my first race credit is a bug)?
Or can we confirm that you can come in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd for credit (and the event seems bugged overall)?
the crystalline dust had a VERY stable price for the last few months.
No it didn’t. In the last month it went from 25s to 38s. Don’t make up facts to support your case.
The price got too high thus making crafted armor and weapons more expensive than ANet anticipated so they lowered it.
And if you don’t think this kind of intervention doesn’t mirror the ‘real world’ you have no idea how economies work.
Confirmed! 100%!
Moot in offhand still shows all particle effects and footprints. The only way an offhand legendary wont show footprints is if you have a legendary in your mainland.
Source: I’ve had the Moot for about a month now and run Axe/Mace on my warrior all the time.
Enjoy all the compliments you get too!
I know during the first few weeks after launch, if I deleted a character, that name would only be usable by me for 24 hours. Can you confirm that this is the case for the new name change contract?
Specifically, I’d like to change the name of one of my character to another character’s name. If I delete “Bob” and then get a name change contract, will I be able to change “Joe” to “Bob” or will I have to worry that someone could take “Bob” right after I delete him – before I have a chance to use the contract.
Thanks.
Is this really a 4-and-a-half minute video telling people to use gw2lfg?
Ha! Was gonna say the same thing.
You can learn how to use this site by….I don’t know…going to it?
But thanks for getting the word out.
Also, it takes more like 2 mins to find a group using gw2lfg.com =)
Wow, nice find. My only regret is that I’m not at my home computer to make some gold off of this…
Where is the right place to inquire whether something in game is working as intended or is an exploit so I don’t get in trouble for publicizing an exploit?
The stats are better. Not by too much, but they are better. Its for people who want the absolute best gear in the game.
Yes. I have had this same problem and have read about many others that have had it as well. I don’t think there is a solution at this point. However, I finally swapped my mouse out and replaced it and don’t have the problem anymore. My old mouse was actually quite a bit old (logitech).
I don’t know if that will help you, but yes, this is a known issue.
Farming in Southsun for an hour at a time usually gets me 2-3 Powerful Blood and anywhere from 10-20 Potent Blood.
This is a very inefficient use of your time if you are trying to save up these mats.
Potent Blood are worth about 1.90 silver.
Powerful Blood are worth 24.85 silver.
So in a good hour you make (1.9×20) + (3×24.85) = 38 + 74.55 = 1g 12s 55c
In a bad hour you make (1.9×10) + (2×24.85) = 19 + 49.70 = 68s 70s
You can make more than that by running 1 dungeon. You’re way better off running dungeons and buying the blood you want on the TP than farming them.
GW2’s TP is by a wide margin less effectively manipulated than the other games mentioned in this thread.
Ah, so it is manipulated then. Thanks for confirming.
Follow up question: who decides the standard for the appropriate level of manipulation?
Everyone talks about a ‘free market’ and ‘supply and demand’ as if these rational market forces should necessarily exist in this game. ANet is god in this world. If a problem occurs with another aspect of the game they step in and fix it. Why can’t ANet simply step in and determine the extent to which Legendaries are obtainable? These items were pitched with the idea that it would be a ‘legendary’ adventure involved with obtaining one. Was this their plan? We are currently confined to the forces of either extreme luck or the whims of the wealthy to obtain a precursor.
Edit: I just reread this and boy does it sound negative. I absolutely love this game and that’s why I am passionate about this topic. I hope ANet will continue to improve the great game they have made by resolving this issue. Have a nice day.

There’s no rule that says you have to go 100% glass cannon. When I started doing dungeons I had a lot of P/V/T gear so I could at least stay alive. As I became more experienced I replaced some of that gear with Berserker gear.
Am I going to get a precursor from cabbage?
Made me laugh.
Sometimes I just want to head out on my own and kill mobs rather than run dungeons or WvW. Anyone know a good spot or two for a level 80 where I can make decent gold/hour? It can be from drops or coin or whatever.
Thanks in advance.
Hello,
I have never experienced any other crashes, but when ever I try to enter FOTM I immediately crash. I have run the verify/repair tool but it doesnt seem to help. Any suggestions?
I just left a level 3 fotm pug and it made me really sad. No one really knew what to do and no one bothered to listen. I feel like I missed a few days there and the better players are at much higher levels in fotm. There is absolutely no reason to play a lower level so you just get stuck with not as skilled players.
Progression in this game has come down to running fotm over and over again. Its sad because this game has so much potential. Now its a fotm slug-fest.
Sad.
@Volcon
Maybe I wasn’t clear in my original post. It did happen. I watched it happen. And if you had friends helping out it was quite easy to do.
Also, this wasn’t an exploit. Nowhere does it say you couldn’t do this. Don’t get mad at them (or me), get mad at ANet for allowing it.
No you didn’t. You wouldn’t have logged in to the full overflow. You would have, like I was, been sent to an overflow that had likely completed the event already, thus no chest or loot. As a matter of fact, the only way you could have been in position with your alts would be to have logged them out in an instance that already had completed the event.
The best you could have hoped for would be to be in the zone partied with someone in the instance and used the “join” option after the chest had appeared and people were moving out of the zone after collecting their loot. Even then it was a small window in time to get lucky in.
That’s exactly what he did. And it was easier to do than you think:
A friend ran 4 alts to the spot where the chest appears at the end of the event and parked them there. He then joined an overflow server where the event was happening by grouping up with someone already on the server. He then ran the event and finished with killing the boss and looting the chest. He then logged off that character, logged on his alts one at a time, joined the same overflow server that the event was just finished on, and looted the chest with all his alts.
You DID NOT need to participate in the event to look the chest. That is an assumption everyone is making. Did you try it? If you did, you’d see you could loot it.
Getting loot on all your alts was extremely easy to do. Some people thought of it and did it. Yes, for real, it happened.

Have you ever played with spirits? It’s quite possibly the worst mechanic in the game. You drop a buff which may or may not work and if you are moving quickly through a dungeon or pve you get out of range real quick. The cooldown is so long that you’ll spend most of the fights without the possibility of a buff. Oh, and they can die.
No buffs to any of my weapons, skills, or pets…. and all traps are now on 30 second cooldown (even with traits).
I’m not saying I’m unplayable…but I’m unplayable.
Confirmed. If this is a bug, its probably the worst time to hit the ranger community with it. If this isn’t a bug, you’ve just lost a lot of rangers.
Hello,
As a ranger every time I enter and leave water my land pet respawns with full health and his F2 ability recharged. So basically, if I am fighting and my pet is about to die (or I have used an F2 ability with a long cool down), all I have to do is jump in water which removes the pet, then emerge from water and the pet has full health and his F2 ability is available immediately. I assume this is a bug since it can be used to exploit the pet mechanic and basically give you an unkillable pet with an unlimited F2 ability.
Have a nice day.
Just as the title says. Do melee vs. ranged pets follow the same rules about damage that player characters do? And if not, why not?
