^Lol.
If you want a shady sounding fella, try combining a ‘dark’ first name (you can find some from eg here: http://www.babynames.org.uk/dark-baby-names.htm) with a cool thiefish last name.
Something like Lillith Shadestalker may sound too obivous but playing around with different names and syllables may get you something neat.
And you should of course try to get the hang of how different races name their children. The Wiki can be useful in that.

I’m currently in Timberline Falls with my ~60 Staff/Condition Damage-mesmer. I prefer kiting and survivability over pure damage and as such I’m usually capable of beating the group events that have me fighting against just one bigger boss (and give me enough room to kite without aggroing too many other enemies).
These events should be the ultimate test (outside of e.g. dungeons of course) for anyone and especially if you’ve got the nerves to try to solo them. Well, after kiting something for 20-30 minutes, what do you get? Practically the same crappy amount of xp and karma as any other event taking 5 minutes would give. Time well spent indeed.
What I want is better rewards that make it worth the while. The amount of xp and such could correlate to the number of players participating in group events or something. E.g. two players battling against a boss would get more xp each than five players doing the same thing later. It shouldn’t correlate too much, though, because seeing other players entering a fight should be something to look forward to (no for xp stealing or damaging the rewards that others get!).
I’m not sure how exactly they could be increased but the main thing is that the current rewards are a huge letdown after a long battle.

Yes, I wanted to play against all expectations and decided to roll a male mesmer charr. After equiping a greatsword I can say that I don’t think its autoattack is working as intended… The light effects seem to be messed up so that he looks like he’s stretching a rubber band between his paws or something.
I don’t know if the same thing occurs with a female charr and my character slots are full so I can’t test it.
Can I just say that I dislike all of them and the proportions are all over the place. The one in the third looks like a duck o_O
It’s possible to make a manly character but the default faces do look rather awful. I wouldn’t mind if they added a few more customisation options (to all of the races).
Here’s my guardian. The eyes could be a bit smaller but overall I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out.
I’m a guy and only one of the ~20 chars that I’ve created has been a female (a sylvari mesmer, I’m not yet sure whether I’ll keep her or not). I practically always choose males in games if there’s a choice, though I do prefer to have a female Witch Doctor in Diablo 3.
A guardian that I created just today. Nothing special but I think I finally managed to make a decent looking face
Really guys? Death isn’t punished nearly as much in GW2 than in many other games.
Even the point in dying is to take note that you A) are not good enough with your character, B) you’re in areas that are way out of your league, C) you aggroed too many enemies at once, etc… To die is to LEARN something and do it differently next time. If death wouldn’t be penalized at all, anyone could make progress just by dying from one enemy to the next untill all were dead. And I’m pretty sure that’s what neither you nor the game developers consider ‘fun’.
I think that the cost should stay where it is or even be increased.
There were some cool looking sylvaris in this topic, I got a few ideas for making new chars so kudos to you!
Here’s my still pretty low level ranger, so I just took a photo with the town clothes.

They released one app with some functions but it doesn’t sound the same as the one described in the article. Go check it out:

Centaurs, centaurs and centaurs.
Yay, I’m not the only one. The ones I’ve liked most so far are Thief and Mesmer but all of my characters are still low level (because I’ve been deleting quite a lot of them to try new ones) so nothing is written in stone yet..
Another thing I’m having problems with is choosing my race. I’ve been playing mostly with human males but I’m starting to be pretty fed up with the model (the all look and sound just the same) so I’ve recently started playing with a couple of male sylvaris. Charrs look pretty neat but the male voice is so shallow that I can’t imagine myself playing with one that isn’t meelee. I’m not a fan of neither the male Norn nor Asura models. The first looks just way too clichéd and the former is too small for my liking. So human, sylvari or possibly charr..
