Elite Spec Unlock

The Elite spec and Masteries are character progression, not account progression is what they are saying. It is based on your characters exploration of the world, mainland tyria and maguuma etc.

The Elite spec is character progression, but masteries are account progression. As to OP, I see no problem with having to finish up your Elite Spec on each character you plan on using it on. If you only WvW, then you have the resources to unlock each elite spec per character, same as everyone else. Just takes time, same as everyone else.

I agree with you on this OP. Before HoT came out, I had everything planned for the build i would use, regarding the Revenant I was going to make. Then, when I heard it would cost 400 HP to complete the Elite Spec, I was bummed…for all of 30 seconds. Then it hit me, I already had other characters that I could use to start my masteries, or I could just map complete on my Rev, regarding the tyrian HP’s, and then start on HoT, or I could take the short, but difficult route, and jump right in. I didn’t cry, shake my fist, or jump on the bandwagon, though I can understand the cry from those that just recently purchased the game in the last month, those others, that have had plenty of time with the game, were in the same boat as me. I now had options! I chose the harder of the three, and jumped right into Maguuma with my fresh Revenant, and proudly can say that I was able to get all but 1 HP from Verdant Brink prior to the update (that being the one that needed Nuhock Lore). Now, the only thing I hope they fix is all the dang Precursor crafting bugs, and any other bugs related to events and story that pop up. Please, no more updates that make everything easier. Let the jungle be a true preparation for the raids to come. Let us work for our abilities so that once we have them, we’ll appreciate them far more.

Bolt 3 Collection

Recently started the Bolt 3 collection, but one of the items you need is an Illuminated Charged Quartz from the Illuminates Plant. After searching around everywhere in the area, and even trying to illuminate a charged quartz, or even use the 25 quartz on the skill point, still nothing. Even asked in map chat, and searched online for any advice on it, and it appears that others are blocked in the same spot for that achievement. I have also reported it to Anet via the game report function.

Did the expected thing, and insta 80ed my rev. Got all trait lines completed, but each trait line prereq for the corresponding Mistward collection isn’t unlocking.

Duplicate HoT Legendaries?

Actually, this is a good question, and one I have as well. Reason being, in the past, via their POI show, as well as their “A Legendary Journey” blog, they specifically have said that, though you can only craft each precursor once, you are still able to get them via normal means. So, are they now backtracking on those statements, or did they make them in such a vague way, meaning that being able to get the precursors by normal ways was meant to be only for the current precursors?

It has even more merit due to the Twice-Told Legend achievement, and those of us that aren’t keen on dual Incinerator Ele or Thief, or dual Quip Engi or Thief. Granted, yes we can make both Quip and H.O.P.E., but I would be SO much more inclined to go for that second H.O.P.E. for my Engi, rather than just swapping the skin.

I highly doubt they’s level lock you out of your heal skill. People will probably start off with Jalis, though can’t fully use him. Just have the heal skill at start. Then, as you level, you’ll be able to unlock the utilities one by one, and gain access to that utility slot.

The part I’m trying to figure out is how they plan on distributing the skill costs, since Rev has fewer skills available to them then the other classes, unless they also plan on having the legends themselves cost hero points to unlock.

HoT Price Feedback + Base game included [merged]

Everyone is kittened because ANET literally just admitted to caring substantially more for new players than any current or former players.

Your logic doesn’t follow. The expansion was going to cost some amount of money. The amount of money has been revealed to be $50. Period. They could have just as easily not included the core game and the expansion still would have been $50.

Giving the core game away with HoT does not mean that they care more about new players than established players. It just means that they want to make it as easy as possible for new players to start playing. (In fact, that’s something we as established players should want too. Who wants to play an empty MMO?)

Pricing the game at $50 does not mean that they don’t value established players. It just means that $50 is the price Anet thinks is reasonable for the expansion.

Again, if you think $50 is too much for the expansion, that’s fine. But if you think Anet owes you more or a cheaper price for being a veteran player, then you’re just being entitled. And if you think new players shouldn’t get the almost three-year-old core game along with the expansion, then you’re just being selfish as that idea is self-destructive to GW2. It benefits us as much as Anet to have a large player base.

Sorry, but as Castaliea said at first, most people aren’t kittened about the price. It’s more about what we, as already loyal and paying consumers, are being viewed as. If you have ever worked a day in any sort of sales, you should understand that you never demean any customer, especially those that are ALREADY loyal to your company.

I’ll give you a perfectly good example of what most people are upset about, hopefully in terms that are more understandable.

You’re at a store, and I notice that you want to purchase a shirt and pants. I sell you said shirt and pants for 50 dollars (just representative price). Then, a while later, while you’re still there, Joe comes up (new customer) and I offer to sell him a pair of shoes for $50, but now I’m going to throw in a shirt and pair of pants, at no additional charge (free), for him. You of course, as a previous customer come up and say, “Hey, I want some shoes as well.” in which I reply, “That’ll be $50. And sorry, but since you already have a shirt, and a pair of pants from us, you get nothing else. Thank you and come again.”

It is this mentality that the vast majority of already loyal, and paying customers of ANET are upset about. Not necessarily the price, but the customer service we have received based off of this.

Now, me, I’m going to sit and wait to see if they separate the base game and the xpac before deciding if I’m going to purchase HOT or not. If they don’t before the xpac comes out, well I’ll just cross that bridge when it happens. Just please, don’t think everything is about the pricing, or thinking people are feeling entitled to something for nothing, when it’s the exact opposite. People, in this circumstance should feel entitled to something, because they’ve already showed ANET they’re loyal, so they should, at the least, receive the EXACT same entitlement as someone that comes into the game brand new, which they’re not, unless they plan on forgetting about their accounts that they’ve worked on for up to 3 years now and create a new account to redo everything all over again.

Also, they stated last week in their stream that they were going to be revealing a specialization each week. Not limited to just 3 specializations, iirc.

Really? So if some one wants to try for there “chance” they have to do what ANet wants them to, so instead of “playing you way” which is one of the things ANet bangs on about a lot, they have gone against that. They want people to enjoy there minuet to minuet game play, guess what, I’m not enjoying my self. I want to be in the Beta, why? I want to see first hand what all the fuss ANet is making about HoT is all about my self. Also the chance to give feed back and what I liked didn’t like, why I didn’t like it, what I would change and why. I’d like that. Just bring out the pre orders and let us beta test that way ANet, just like you did before the launch of GW2. The we can go back to doing what we want to do ingame, and not get burnt out and disappointed that we didn’t get our “Chance” at it.

In all honesty, I actually prefer the way they did this. It really serves many different factors. For those, like me, that joined GW2 just prior to DT being introduced, and then had other objectives on their mind, rather than the grind of getting all the mats (geodes) required for Mawdry, Ambrite Weapons, and all the other recipes that require those geodes, then ANET has done for me, and those like me, a huge service by bringing the population of DT back up to where T5 is pretty easy to get now, thus making the time required to farm those geodes less time consuming.

On the other side, they also recently had huge sales in an attempt to bring new players over. Now, even though SW is usually populated, it’s more populated by people chest farming, up until the beta key event. Now, i constantly see threads in the LFG “Fressh SW”, “20% SW” that are being filled, where before they would be ignored. It makes it more interesting, and easier imo, for those newer players that are trying to learn SW if they start out in those kinds of maps, rather than just the 60% or higher ones.

So, does it create a grind feeling, only to those people that are only in either of those areas for the beta keys. Me on the other hand, I applaud ANET for placing the keys there. Not that I’m going for one, I’ll probably have to work the day it comes out, but because it makes those other items I’m now going for easier to obtain, and actually less of a grind.

Unable to connect to Log in Server

Not having trouble logging into my account for the game now, however, when I’m in a group for a fractal (lvl 9), I consistently lose connection to the server. I’m able to go into a different fractal on my own, as well as any other map, but not in a group. I also noticed one other thing. When it first occurred, it acted as if I was using the new streaming client that is/was in beta. However, I have never added that to the game. Could this possibly be the culprit for bad connectivity issues?

My Account Hack by GraceO'malley aka Brazen

Really sucks what happened, but one thing Anet could possibly do is follow the mailings that were sent out during the time frame of the hacking, and ban all of those that had a part in doing this. Even if those people claim unawareness, they were still a part of a malicious activity, and as a loyal Guild Wars player, and fan, I would feel EXTREMELY relieved just knowing that the company that says they’re here for it’s players and community base is doing something to keep these types of people out of the game.

Is the maize balm rat farm an exploit?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Cecil.9205

Cecil.9205

The problem here isn’t in the fact that Anet has deemed the maize rat farm as not being an exploit, it’s that in the past they have made it clear that they made the game for players to complete events (Blix farm, Coil Farm, etc). Now, players with that knowledge going into the start of the Halloween “event” saw the instance as a step that needed to be completed, just like those that wanted to complete the "Breaking the Ice’ event for their storyline. However, others continued on the path of non-completion of the instance and are being rewarded for doing so, just like in the latest major farming fixes. It would be the same moaning and crying if they made the hoard of rats in the “Forewarned is Forearmed” Vigil story instance drop the ToT bags, which they were smart enough not to have happen. An easy fix for this would be to either make that specific instance of rats now drop the bags as well, or allow players that have already completed the instance an option to reenter that instance.

Doing the first option would make it where everyone (so that no players gain an unfair economic advantage over another player) would have to go out into the world and find their ambient creature farms. The second option also gives every player an equal economic opportunity. Either way, it is then up to the players themselves, on the amount of time they want to farm, if any at all.
