Hey, I have been playing WvW a long time. I have over 109k WvW kills, and I still play, mostly for the big fights, but I still roam sometimes.

I believe DH Bow #5 is stupidly overpowered in WvW. I’m not sure what changes would make it less broken, but maybe limit the amount of stab it can remove. (If you run through 1 ring, it removes 1 or 2 stacks and then doesn’t remove more for each subsequent ring you run through), or maybe make it an immobilize.

I’m a hoarder. I have so many of these boosters saved up, and I want to use them all when I go into heart of thornes so that I can get bouncy mushrooms and hang glide to all the hidden places. Will these boosters help with the HoT masteries?

I’ve only got 295 extra WvW ranks after I maxed everything, but I think I’m set even if they add new masteries.

Do they mean the focus now stacks swiftness?

Not quite. I think they mean that it’ll always set your Swiftness to exactly 12s?

It means that Temporal Curtain will always apply it’s full swiftness duration (12s) the first time you pass through it. Previously if you had swiftness from another source it would not apply. There are a few other details but I’ll leave those until Tuesday.

When running in wvw sometimes I would use the curtain, but 5 other allies pass through it first. Does it save a stack for me, now?

For Heart of Thorns, we are rebalancing the WvW Lifetime achievement requirements to much more reasonable numbers. At the same time we’ll also be updating many of their associated titles.

  • We are not changing the Realm Avenger (“Ultimate Dominator”) achievement requirements or title, as some players have actually obtained it and it’s a bit of a status symbol.
  • The “Yakslapper” title will remain, but the requirement is being reduced to 2500 yaks.
  • As an example title change: “Ultimate Liberator” will become “Kingmaker”

I’ve gotten 7725 yaks. Can you make it 10,000?

Yep. Also just tried reinstalling them, and testing once when it was just the plug and play version of the drivers. Still extremely sensitive.

Edit: I found this registry mouse fix that I in no way know is safe, so I downloaded it. It claims that some old games (and likely gw2 when right-clicking) enables mouse acceleration. This modifies windows so that it’s a 1:1 (no acceleration) thing.

So for me at least, I’ve solved my problem. I hope that if anyone else encounters this, they can find this post.

Not sure if anyone else ran into this, but since the recent patch it seems like when I right click and move the mouse, the camera rotation speed is extremely sensitive. The setting in option is at it’s minimum, and I’ve tried messing with windows and razer settings, but I can’t really fix it without making the normal cursor movement extremely slow.

Havn’t played much recently, but I don’t think I’ve made any big changes to my system. Upgraded to windows 10 but was playing fine / didn’t notice anything a week or two ago.

Also having an issue in CT. Been talking with some other folks and the theory is there is a problem with the Level 3 nodes we use to reach ArenaNet. What do we about it though, complain to Level 3?

No more Elemental Attunement + Evasive Arcana

I don’t like these changes.

I might stop playing the elementalist. Elemental attunement is essential for providing boons to allies, especially protection for when you’re about to push in WvW which is largely overlooked. Not having evasive arcana strips away the fun though, it’s like going from driving a manual to an automatic, you’ll feel like you aren’t doing anything.

If these traits are too powerful, I’d rather see something like a longer cooldown on evasive arcana and keep elemental attunement in a master slot, or have elemental attunement’s boons have a reduced duration, and not touch evasive arcana.

If you need to make a choice between one or the other, they both should be buffed.

If you gave me the option right now to have elemental attunement and evasive arcana, or a 6/6/6 traitline, i would still choose the current setup over an additional 4 traits.

Individually, ranger and guardian are getting potentially more protection uptime (especially meditation guardian, which is tough to fight solo even D/D or S/D), and we’re having to choose between that or evasive arcana.

This dialogue annoys me greatly. I hear it repeated at the Camp Resolve waypoint in the silverwastes every 40 seconds. I usually take a few minutes to salvage, sell, sort my inventory and list things on the trading post after a silverwastes run. It’s also within range of the only merchant on the map.

I don’t really want to turn off NPC dialogue in the sound options, since most of the time in the rest of the game, I like hearing dialogue.

I wish there was varied dialogue, or a patch that made this Wyld Hunt Valiant become a mute, or speak far less often.

Just throwing this out there, this happened to me too when I logged on today. It went very slowly at first. I tried swapping it around to -clientport 80, still the same thing.

It didn’t get stuck at 0, but it did go very slow. Hope it doesn’t happen next patch.

Eventually it downloaded and allowed me to login.

There was a shout-out to SAB in the new JP, but that’s all we’ve had since Level 2 came and went.

If it makes you happier the man behind the new JP and SAB are one and the same. Praise the sun to make him feel happier that people appreciate his work unlike the toxic casuals that trashed his earlier SAB content!

I’m enjoying the new JP right now and listening to the SAB music, and it’s wonderful. I liked finding the badges in Dry top and now I get to do it in this puzzle

I came on here to see if there was any connection between the Storm Wizard you fight in SAB part 2 and the cave you fall into that looks an awful lot like this jumping puzzle. Maybe with the stuff in New Krytan on the boards?

I can’t think back to what all of the lore said in the hidden azuran place or what moto’s genie said to you, either.

Necros need a way to stay on enemy targets or a less awful way to pull targets to them. The spectral skill that pulls is a slow moving projectile that is easily dodged.
A skill like a thief’s infiltrator’s strike would be good, or something that ‘marks’ a target, and teleports them to you would be good. It’s really annoying that a warrior, who already has the highest armor and HP in the game and can hit fairly hard and sustain well can say “oh, I’m losing this fight, let me just use my greatsword and sword skills to leap away and never die”. They also shouldn’t have to sacrifice a utility skill to be able to do this.

Warrior mobility needs to be nerfed. They already can sustain pretty well and hit hard. Why doesn’t the ranger have more mobility?

I kind of wish shadow refuge stealth worked like this: you dont see the nametag, and you see a shimmering outline like the predator. So if you are really paying attention to the thief, you can ground target AOE him and chase him. If you are swinging your camera wildly around you might not notice him right away, so if uses blinks and stealth, he can still juke you. If he stands still, you don’t see him. Separate short invis (or a mesmer veil) into perfect invis, and long invis into predator invis (somewhat seen while moving).

Ranger damage should get buffed. Option to remove pet to buff all stats (or have the pet ‘sit on your shoulder’ or something, to give the same effect.

Ranger: sword – free up movement so the character doesnt auto move toward enemy the during the ‘kick’ and ‘leap’. Less cast time on monarch’s leap both away and towards.
serpent’s strike: short range blink behind the foe, poison them, instead of the weird tracking.

The sword should feel quick. It currently feels slow and clunky, taking control away from the user

Ranger: should have short duration, short cooldown immobilize option.

Ele – Fire Focus needs better skills.

FA has some great guilds, and hands down the best militia population. It’s a stable server. Some folks have left, many have come back. FA’s got everything – fun PVE guilds that do weekly guild missions, GvG guilds, WvW guilds, havoc groups, and reasonable coverage.

If you’re tired of T1 skill lag blobs or low population servers, come to FA- always some good fights to be had. If you’re new and want to get into WvW, come to FA!

We usually always have some groups running in all timezones in WvW

Last week, myself and others on Fort Aspenwood were having frequent disconnects while in Eternal Battlegrounds. This was a new issue for me, I believe unrelated to skill lag, which has been around for ages, especially during 3 way zerg fights. After going to character select and getting back in (it was queued at the time), it repeatedly happened. Someone suggested I log out of the client completely, and then come back. That seemed to work for me, although it may have been a fluke. After logging out, I didn’t disconnect for a lengthy period of time while on Eternal Battlegrounds.

I later experienced a massive framerate drop followed by a freeze (forcing me to ctrl+alt+delete and stop the GW2 process from the task manager) while approaching an enemy zerg of SBI. Other people in the teamspeak at the time experienced it shortly before I did, and had to restart and come back in the map. I restarted, came back in, and it happened again, so I logged off for the evening. I don’t believe it was happening to everyone in the area, because plenty of players were still fighting.

Skill lag has been happening during large fights for as long as I can remember. It’s hard to give estimates of numbers.

Unrelated, but after one of the recent patches sometimes my character seems to get stuck and I need to perform some kind of emote to become ‘unstuck’ (No, I’m not getting stuck after building a flame ram, no I’m not stunned or immobilized)

It seemed easy to figure out, actually, but I am sure there is more to learn.

Successful completion of miasma events will buy you more time. When the bar reaches full, everyone gets forced out of the instance (even if you outheal the miasma killing you). If you fail a miasma event, I believe you can kill the miasma container spewing the miasma, which probably slows the bar’s rise.

It looks like there is plenty of potential for small groups to go around to odd areas (such as the caves in the northwest, or the bar northeast of the center) and revive citizens. Once revived, they walk a short distance to a nearby whispers agent. As they arrive, the counter ticks up one. Citizens that aren’t dead sometimes have an orange icon above their head. Run up to them, press F to ‘encourage’, and they will begin walking out. The counter ticks up one. Citizens are spread out all over, at different waypoints, not near any of the events. A group of 2 could have one person kiting mobs while the other ressurects. As a thief, I could shadow refuge, res a citizen, and he’d remain stealthed and would usually have no problem getting out.

One advantage to working with a small group like this is you can search those piles of rubble lying around and get more heirlooms. Also, the veterans away from the zerg die fairly easy compared to the scaled-up vets and champs that the zergballs are trying to kill, so you’ll still get some loot.

Some of the events will give a boost to citizens saved, such as escorting the children out of the city. I’m not sure of the numbers (20-30 maybe?), and I would also assume escorting the dolyaks or other NPCs out has something similar.

Is it worth it to have 60 people escort the children out of the city, spawning champions with massive HP pools because the event scales up, while 2 miasma events fail and no one goes around ressing citizens? Probably not. Are people going to do this anyways because they want loot, and communication is hard? Probably yes.

In the marionette event, people organized by spreading out into each lane. I think something like that would work, with maybe 10-15 people at each miasma / escort event, and small parties roaming around reviving citizens. Who knows how long you can keep the instance open if you just never let a miasma event fail?

I can’t tell if the main instances are ‘bugged’ because the ‘citizens saved’ count never drops (we had over 7000 on FA main this morning), or if this is intentional and never resets as a way to track each server’s progress on their main instance.

I’m guessing you’d probably get a ton of heirlooms if you manage to save 1500.

It’s pretty sad that people abuse the system like that.

The other day people in an AC pick up group kicked low levels, and I told them off for being elitist kittens, especially around the holidays. I’ve seen better players than some 80’s, and if they can’t pick up the slack of a low level or be bothered to explain (the super easy) tactics, then they must not be very good. Then they kicked a second. I left group and started my own. Would be nice to be able to at least see the party chat and re invite the people who got suddenly kicked, too. It would also be nice to see who initiated the vote kick, as it could have been any of them.

There’s no way to fix population imbalance. Players need to accept it and decide what server they want to be on to have more fun. No one has a fair solution.

No amount of financial incentive with lowering or increasing gem cost of transfers will change the fact that many people want to be on the server that is winning.

Ideas on this thread I don’t agree with:
-Lower PPT during off peak hours? Unfair to oceanic or euro players (on NA servers).
-Knowing the map player limit? Satisfies our curiosity, but knowing won’t change imbalance issues (which is what people are mad about)
-PVE’ers into WvW – Ugh, it’s already bad enough having to deal with queues, it’s even worse when your guild or wvw vets can’t get in, and it’s a bunch of trash PVE’ers who don’t get on TS. On the plus side, there are noobs on the other side to farm. Double edged sword. And it won’t even out the population during off peak hours.

Not bad ideas:
-Buff siege, NPCs, or give players that are outnumbered a major buff – if it’s done right, this could be ok, but it’s already been done with siegerazer. Maybe give a respawn timer to the servers with a larger population.
-Gating – introduces new problems, but is probably the best solution if you decide to do anything. I would be angry if the enemy server had a small WvW population on and only a small population of people on my server could get into the map, especially if the small population of my server was absolute garbage.

Very good idea:
-Allow guilds to keep their upgrades if they transfer to another server

First SMC cap of the WvW season: FA – Just before reset we ‘capped’ SMC from crystal desert- it reset with the patch, with maguuma ownership but both outer and inner gates down. FA rushed it, and I can say we are the first people to cap it.

We then ported 25 people into the JP and ganked the F out of 3 [Derp] Maguuma. Well done FA, best server ever

My guess is that the limit is not necessarily a player limit, but a resource limit kept to maximize player slots while keeping it even for all servers, and also taking into account the possibility of mini pets, minions, animal companions, siege. It’d be interesting to know if the player limit scales depending on resources used, but letting that be public knowledge could encourage players to use tons of minions, mini pets, and place tons of useless siege just to cap the other servers’ player count.

As an example, suppose each server had 50 people, all necros, running minions, all had mini pets out. My guess is that if they all started building siege, the siege cap would hit them sooner rather than later, and if it didn’t, you’d start to see skill lag sooner rather than later. Some classes cannot put out any minions or other objects which could hog resources, and A.net probably knows average resources used, and tried to balance the resources used with the player cap.

Of course, maybe it isn’t even. Maybe if you have 1,000 pieces of siege and tons of minions, you get less player slots than the other two servers. Doubtful, but who knows.

When are you finally gonna fix skill-lag?

I just wonder what the problem is – how costly is it to get servers capable of hosting large fights? Why is it that two large forces of players fighting far far outside of my current area cause lag for those of us way over here? It’s not like these technical issues havn’t been addressed in other games.

Two way fights get skill lag for the map over, and three way fights with map zergs become 10-15 second skill lag unplayable spam 1 fest. It’s the biggest issue in the game, not just WvW. It’s so crappy losing a fight because the enemy is just spamming 1. Or being unable to get away when you’re havocing on the other side of the map because of a large fight at a keep.

If this isn’t the #1 issue on Anet’s priority list, it ought to be. It’d be nice to hear that they are at least working on it in an interview or something, all I ever hear about is “exciting new lore” and “more content every 2 weeks that you can play through quickly and get bored again”

PvP is replayable, it needs to be good. This game has the potential to be the best for a long while if they showed WvW some love

We found a chest in the first area inside a hollow tree, which you jump down into from a branch.

After the next checkpoint, monkeys are dropping keys like mad. We searched and searched, and found a group of spiders hidden over a cliff when you backtrack to the first area, from the trees of the second area. There must be another chest in this second area, but before the poison water past the next checkpoint.

Has anyone found this other hidden chest?

Two thieves held a group of 20+ off at a supply camp by stealthing. Even when we killed one, another would run from spawn and contest the area. Despite AOE’ing every piece of ground, it still took us a good 10 minutes to take the camp that we had cleared in about 30 seconds. The group was not organized enough to stack on top of each other, but that shouldn’t matter. One player shouldn’t be able to put the brakes on 20+ people. There needs to be a way, be that a skill from a profession, a mechanic change (perhaps you cannot contest a capture point while stealthed), or a new piece of siege that reveals stealthed units around it. This thief problem leads to horrible imbalance in WvW. This requires little teamwork to have a huge effect on the game, and isn’t that fun for the thief, or the 20 players frustrated trying to kill him.

Prices for omnomberries are directly tied to omnom bars, so there’s really no margin in buying ingredients just to craft and sell the product. There’s no shortage of cooks out there. There isn’t much profit from cooking, and when there is, it disappears almost as soon as you start.

Optimus, although you probably are just a trolling hacker, the guy claims he keylogged the account, so get your kitten together and get some anti spyware programs installed, and clean your PC. Changing your password on the PC that’s compromised just gives it to them again.

This kitten is really ruining WvW. We had like 10 people defending the friken orb against someone appearing next to it.

Drop a well of something similar, retaliation is a condition.
It is only powerful when you aoe a lot of people with it up and it’s quite hard to make that mistake..

You can keep it up pretty much permanently with a couple guardians.

I completely agree, it’s really overpowered. Smaller numbers of defenders should absolutely be able to zerg-proof an objective with enough arrow carts. Taking a heavily fortified position should require siege or coordination to attack a backdoor, not guardians spamming retaliation skills while smacking the doors with 40 people.

Perhaps siege weapons should be affected by retaliation still, but be able to last for a lot longer. They shouldn’t take the kind of damage they are taking now.

I wish the response to arrow carts was “oh, they have a ton of arrow carts, we need to get back and set up catapaults instead.” Not “lets group at the door and have the guardians use retaliation while we intentionally eat this arrow damage”
