Okay, so the key creation bit should now be working again.
Additionally, the “endpoint requires authentication” bit should be fixed — let me know if you’re still getting that. If it persists, it’s probably some bad cached data and I can just purge the cache.
I’m not sure why/how API keys were being deleted, still looking into that bit. It may just be a cache issue — the other thread mentioned that they mysteriously came back after awhile?
Of note, it doesn’t appear to be permanent. They seem to disappear for a while. My API key came back after a while (I don’t have a definite time). Also, the API was working fine (for me) prior to 10pm Eastern Time last night. So something went screwy overnight.
Seems that the API keys reappear after some time. Not sure how long that delay is though. They also vanish again after trying to be used.
It wasn’t the /tokenInfo endpoint for me. I did a test on /bank and the same thing happened. First, ‘endpoint requires authentication’ and then ‘invalid key’. Went to my account and noticed that the API key I generated last night is now gone and I’m getting “ERROR” when trying to generate a new one.
My issue is that it’s no longer saving my password even when ‘Remember Password’ is set.
He’s just wondering if anyone else is seeing his same performance issues.
I’ve been running Yosemite B4 and haven’t had any issues with the game that I didn’t have on Mavericks.

If you’re running WvW a lot try changing your Character Model Quality to Lowest. It’s ugly but it’s prevented nearly all the crashes I’ve had in the past while in WvW.
Its really sad. I don’t want to install Windows throw Bootcamp on my Macbook. I bought Macbook because i don’t want to use Windows. Now it seems that i have no other way i want play GW2 :-(
I feel the same exactly way. I don’t want to boot into Windows every time I want to play GW2. For the most part the Mac client has been okay (and when it’s time for reset night WvW I normally reboot into Windows for that), but with the more recent instabilities I’m actually leery about doing WvW because of potential crashes. I haven’t had one for a while though setting my character model quality to lowest (I can keep the amount on screen set high though).
This idea needs to die. They’ve paid for and are utilizing Cedega/Cider as an alternative to rewriting the client engine. They’re not going to put the massive amount of time and energy into converting their modified GW1 engine to OpenGL. It’s significantly cheaper and easier for them to fix problems in the container they’re using.

I haven’t had a crash in WvW for a long time by setting character models to Lowest quality. Everything else is set pretty high.
Same here. Was fine for a while (except needing run lowest models in WvW to prevent crashing) and now it’s crashing constantly. c0000005
Just what I need before seasons start.
The installer is only the patcher. Once the patcher is run it’ll download the 18GB from the server.
Have you tried using Spotlight to find the install? (it’s the magnifying glass in the upper right corner).
I use Mystery Tonics all the time to transform into furniture or a tree. It’s tons of fun but your name doesn’t go away.
Let it sit for a few minutes and see if it clears up with time. This happened to be before and all I did was wait for a while and it eventually continued.
I never noticed this before. This might be because the panel itself doesn’t support it. On my Thunderbolt display my options are 2560×1440, 2048×1152, and 1600×900. First thing you could check is if 1920×1080 is available in System Preferences > Display (if you’re on Mavericks you’ll need to select ‘Scaled’).
In WvW I have to turn my high quality model limit down to lowest. It seems to have something to do with switching in and out of the real models often.
Yea, because getting a notification at the corner of your screen notifying you a patch is complete while an app is in the background is exactly the same thing as having an app in the foreground and watching the progress bar.
So hard to click the icon in the Dock to check the update progress. I hate doing that.
If you really, really gotta know the second that the game is ready, click the “auto play” box and listen for the game music when it starts.
Again, this is not the same thing as an unobtrusive notification in the corner of the screen. I don’t particularly want another application starting up in the background when I have other memory intensive applications running. It also doesn’t just open up in the background, it hijacks being first responder and comes to the front.
It’s not the same and we’re aware of what you’re proposing. It’s a QoL thing. A nice thing to have.
Probably not, but it wouldn’t be all of your settings. Many of them are stored server side (I had to change very little when I reboot into windows).
Notifications as in on your computer as per the title of the thread. The feature in the OS.
Specifically when the patching finishes in the launcher.
That’s what the progress bar is for. And the % count. And the files-to-go counter.

Does TGUpdate run every time you launch the client? If so check out this thread.
Do you run anything else that might cause the fans to spin up to the same speed GW2 does? Have you tried the SMC / PRAM reset?

I’ve been playing on 10.9.1 without issue.
Jace, I’m more interested in what your hardware is and how old it is. It may be a hardware issue if you’re complaining about crashing and graphical issues. Except the TP issue. That needs to be fixed.
Also, marketing and client development costs are significantly different. Creating a proper mac port is much more expensive than you think.
Activating and deactivating may have to do with the power requirements needed for these gates (the cross out because we’re not allowed to use them).
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Asura_gate
Most prominently, gates cannot be instantly tuned to any location, and larger jumps often require a greater amount of energy and time to prepare. For instance, one of the asura gates at Divinity’s Reach leads to Ebonhawke, but only after noon, and a traveler in Lion’s Arch would not find a gate leading to Ebonhawke at all.
I thought this was a play on Tiny, because she’s so little.
It sounds like there’s network issues somewhere. Is it only happening when you’re guesting? Is it every time you go to TC? How recent is it?
I don’t think I’ve seen a windowed-full screen app in OS X. The only thing I’ve seen come close is putting the game into Full Screen mode like you can do with many apps by clicking the icon on the top right corner of the window.
The short of the story is that it’s normal. The newer models have less room for airflow and a tighter thermal envelopes. When the GPU and CPU get stressed as they do under the load of a game (especially GW2) the fans kick into overdrive to keep everything from overheating.
Mystic, that’s amazing! Thanks for the data.
I’m not sure it’s just a mac client problem,
I play on my macbook in osx, and on my imac in both osx as windows 7.
And since the new releases started this year (marionette) I’m having terrible lag, fps drops, and more dc’s then i’ve had since launch….
They screwed something up in basic code of the game.
btw, graphics are on all my systems set to lowest settings for smoothest experience, and have been that way for more then a year.
The issue in this thread is a mac issue. They made an update to the improve graphics performance in the client and it interacted very badly with the cider port.
I’ve been hearing about disconnects and lag recently and they all seem to be related to some internal networking issue in their data center, not something client side.
I agree with keeping the issues at the top of the list, but I wouldn’t hold my breath for status updates until something is ready to go and maybe even not even then.
I used to play on an iMac from 2009 (I think it had an 8400 in it and a 3Ghz Core2Duo) and it played fine. This iMac should play it just fine, it’s strange that the performance is that abysmal though.
Yea, it’s really bad. I’ve resorted to rebooting into Windows until this gets fixed. It’s also shedding light onto how poorly Cider performs when I consider how I used to play and how it plays on windows currently.
The low frames are due to the most recent patch. I’m not sure about your other issue but I don’t think you’re supposed to delete the entire GW2 folder in Application Support, but I could be wrong here. Like I said, I’m not sure.
See this thread about the frames issue: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/mac/FPS-DROP-WITH-PATCH/page/1
Since the TP is a browser window inside the game I don’t think it’s being scaled correctly (You’re basically dropping out pixels instead of smoothing everything out). There’s nothing you can do except change back to the Normal UI.
I didn’t have nearly as much of a problem on my RMBP. I created a USB version of my Windows 7 disc and used BootCamp to setup the drive then installed. I’m not sure what’s going on that give you so much of a problem.
The performance tweaks they made improved framerate for many users unfortunately. I can confirm that my fps is better in windows now than it used to be while the mac client took a huge hit.
This was fixed in a patch last night.
Tanked my FPS in any form of WvW and is pretty bad in LA after the patch.

It’s either suffer through any problems you may have with the cider port and hope that fixes come, or partition the hard drive. This is what I’ve done on many of my macs and never had issues with it. You could try to run the game in a virtual machine but you’d likely not get anywhere near the performance you’d want.
Bootcamp is the worst solution.
I’m not risking my data by partitioning my hard-drive to install windows on my mac.
This is all handled by Boot Camp Assistant and if there’s a risk to any of your data it aborts the process and will let you know it cannot be done. Not saying you should do this, but didn’t want you thinking that it’s a dangerous process.
Has anyone tried the SMC reset to see if that improved anything? I’m actually really surprised that antialiasing helped out also.
Yea, yesterday was great. Today is completely unplayable.
For PvE you need to be in the same zone as you’re trying to join (it won’t teleport you to the right zone).
For sPvP I believe you need to have a two way friendship (both of you are friends with each other) and you can right click on their name there to join them, not from the party menu.
Do you feel like you’re not doing enough damage? That you’re not doing enough support for the group? Are you getting downed too much? There has to be a reason you feel like you’re slowing the group down? Can’t really begin to help without knowing what makes you feel like this.
Proficiency comes with time and if you’ve only been playing a month you can always keep at it and see where you’re at in another month.
Also, do you need to be on the same map to use Join (I’ve always been on the same map, just in an overflow when I use this, and I use it often with the marionette fight)? I see you’re in Heart of the Mists, not in an overflow trying to join your party member.
Waiting is the only thing I did and while it took a few minutes the few times it hung it eventually went through.
TGUpdater starts before the patcher really starts (if I remember correctly) so it shouldn’t be related. I also had this happen recently after I fixed the TGUpdate issue in that thread. Your milage may vary but it doesn’t seem to be related to this issue. That’s why I’m thinking it’s an update to the patcher itself taking a long time.

We’re continuing to lower the amount of vigor available to all professions, especially from sources with low trait point investments. Based on your feedback, we decided to revert our proposed change to Deceptive Evasion.
This happened a few times for me (most recently after the last patch). It seemed to be processing something or waiting for a network call in the background before continuing. After waiting a minute or two the patcher restarted on its own and patched correctly.
I don’t have any confirmation on this, but to me it seems like this is what happens when the patcher itself has an update. Sometimes this update takes longer to process than other times and there’s no good indication that it’s doing anything.
Try again and let it sit for a few minutes on this screen to see if it eventually gets past it.
Sylar, FPS and Network Lag are unrelated. FPS slowing down is entirely client side and will happen if the CPU or GPU can’t keep up with what’s going on. Network lag would be any hiccups in the connection between you and the server.
I don’t think there’s any way of showing ping, but you may be able to do a trace route or something to see how long it takes to get to the servers. There’s also this list of command line arguments with instructions on how to use them. Something here may prove useful but I didn’t see anything for ping.
