GS DPS Buff

If you’re talking from a PvE standpoint, it’s pretty much meta. You don’t stay on it too long tho. Just long enough to add a nice burst to get higher overall dps.

Out of legitimate curiosity, what would a build/rotation look like? Everyone I have talked to still says either full hammer for support or full scepter for DPS. Even on test golems and a few raid encounters I have found just pure GS to outdo weapon swapping because Whirling Wrath is on an extremely low cool down with alacrity and hits like an absolute truck.

So I did a few things and came to a conclusion that dps buff is nice, but due to current power creep on the whole variety of classes it seems harder than pre-HoT to land Whirling Wrath. People have easier time running away, blocking and overall mitigating the damage that WW does, it’s animation is very easy to acknowledge 0.5 second before we start dishing out damage. Combat run speed is enough to run away from it and if we want to be efficient with it I understood that I have to go with dragonmaw for it to put the whole damage from it and that is quite a lot of dedication to make one skill work out (considering how certain classes just have to pick a weapon and do the thing without many forced trade-offs). I would either give Leap of Faith a 3 sec root along with blind (if trait is picked) or make WW a single cone slash like shield cone strike, the same thing but instead of protection give fury to the guardian and his allies, as well as dealing about 70% of WW’s current damage.
If it’s too overpowered, please look upon scrapper’s hammer skills that grant both dps and defense.

Okay I have no idea why people are trying to apply this to PvP, if you’re trying to pull 29k dps in PvP I have some serious questions for you. I am looking at GS as a viable weapon in PvE as the current metagame is dominated by scepter and sword.
The fact of the matter is GS will probably not be a good PvP weapon for a long time because of the widely available mobility that other classes have that guardians are quite simply lacking in, and that’s okay because I have found absolutely no trouble winning as guard in pvp with a variety of other builds.
Back to the actual subject at hand though, I think GS now has some serious potential in raids and is now even better in fractals.

So with the recent changes how come no one else has seemed to notice how incredibly powerful of a dps weapon the GS is now? On golems I am pulling around 28-29k dps in comparison to scepter’s 25-26k, whirling wrath consistently hits from 50-60k, also it is still much less symbol dependent for dps than scepter which makes it a lot more ideal for moving bosses where the burst will top out the fact that only half or less of the scepter 2 will land.
Just tossing this out there hopefully GS sees more use I find it a lot cooler than spamming tiny balls.

Hard Mode Clears + Single Player Challenges

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Hey there, I’m not sure if this has been mentioned before, but I’d love to hear from ArenaNet if this will ever be an option and from other people with interest.
Basically in GW1, you could enter the map in hardmode after you complete the campaign and this would increase the enemy difficulty drastically but you had a chance at much better loot and new titles, bragging rights, etc.
GW2 has filled their quota of “challenging group content” with raids, dungeons fractals etc, so I’m thinking more of a single player take on Hardmode. Besides, the real brag right of GW1 hardmode was soloing it anyway since it meant you get 100% of the good loot.
I’ve always really enjoyed that challenge it had to offer and GW2 is a bit lacking in this. The Queen’s Gauntlet was a REALLY fun event and I really wish it came around more often with new bosses. However, more recently I just enjoy soloing the champion skill points in Maguuma and what not but that’s about the extent of single player challenges available at the moment.
So, here’s my proposal:
Create “Hardmode” maps of the current new Hot Maps that are available to play after the respective story mode achievements are completed. These maps could be entered in Hardmode through the story tab and it would spawn in a set amount of powerful enemies on the map and mini bosses etc. Reward chests could be offered after killing mini bosses or completing the map, (ie: leystone armor chests, weapon skins, etc) and they’d have to be on some sort of weekly/daily timer to not be abused. Enemies would be given new skills as well so that you actually had to be aware and dodge. Also bosses with phases and timers would be key. Another cool feature might be to have optional Pact Forces that you could take with you (like heroes/henchmen from GW1) and they would give more damage and take agro but reduce the reward in some way.
These are just some rough ideas and I’d love to hear thoughts on this, and if anyone else shares my desire for a feature like this. Also would be cool to hear if Anet ever plans to implement something like this.
TLDR: Please more single player challenges, akin to soloing hardmode from GW1.

Changing Account Name?

Hey just wondering is there any way to send in a ticket and change the account name, for example mine is Cheese Lord.3825 and I am very dissatisfied with it because my brother made it that as a joke when purchasing the game for me as a gift thinking I could change it later. This was 3 years ago when we repurchased the game and as of now I desperately want to change it. Any help from Anet?

Thanks Nitro, a couple of questions if you wouldn’t mind, what is considered “high” for gpu and cpu temperature? and how much do you expect the paste to reduce these temperatures? and on top of that, what would be considered a normal or acceptable cpu and gpu temperature while playing GW2?

I updated my drivers, but that never was really the issue. The game runs smoothly, it just overheats my PC really really fast while doing so.

I can run The Witcher 3 with medium/high graphics no problem, there’s no way GW2 is nearly as graphic intensive yet it sets my PC to bake so yeah I don’t think its a problem on my end, I think this game just really wants to fry my computer. ANET PLEASE HELP!

It reached as high as 68c before automatically shutting down but just now it shut down at 62c and I was able to turn the frame rate limit down and put graphics to minimal but it didn’t seem to have any effect, sits around 39-43 idle and gw2 immediately spikes into the 60s and requires 99% of my gpu, currently using Radeon hd6590

I am not even blue screening, it black screens and immediately shuts down with a quiet high pitch sound before. Sometimes even after it cools I will I turn it back on and it will shut down after a few minutes of use, not even in game.

Last year my computer was overheating due to the absolutely extreme demands GW2 runs on my computer, so I took apart my PC and vacuumed it and it cooled off and was able to run. Since the big update today I cant play for any more than a few minutes without my computer reaching absurd temperatures and shutting down. I’ve updated all of drivers, took apart and cleaned all dust out of my PC, and even added another fan, done a virus scan, changed in game settings, etc., but it still crashed my entire PC after a couple minutes of game play. I’ve spent the whole day researching the issue and have found nothing. Looking for a solution so I can once again enjoy the game instead of turning my computer into an oven.

I currently use Brazil’s dps guardian build, he’s from the same guild as strife so essentially it’s the same thing, but improved. It relies mainly on the 1 handed sword dps and the utility on the focus, and its surprisingly tanky. Here’s the link for it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpR45w6Lfwo

My account was hacked for a short period of time awhile back and now I can see two allowed IP addresses under the security section of my account. I don’t want these there, how can I remove them?
