This achievement is so badly designed…. description says “go save npcs outside camp” … no indication on WHEN or HOW MANY or WHERE to get them to safety.

You forgot HOW to save them
and WHERE they are…

“rescue them” could mean “defend them”
when you are not the owner of the instance you will not be able to talk to the NPCs
—> you can not get them to move…
—> took some time to figure out that not all of us are able to “save” them

some of the NPCs have no icon after they are dead —> it’s “hard” to find all of them when you are in a group of 5… e.g. the one in the water close to the bridge or the soldiers at the tower…

I finally got the 7 NPCs you need to save when you are on your own…
and guess what: still no achievement…

3 ways to do this:
1. the key costs about $100.000.000 / 10.000.000 gems so you need a lot of time to get it…
2. you pay 5 (or more) gold per use… if the gem price goes up you will save money… else you have a key you don’t need…
3. the key destroys a lot of chests – like 999.999 of 1.000.000 and the not destroyed chest contains the typical crap… so instead of opening 100 chests for a good item you need to open 100*1.000.000 chests!

everything else would be like “printing your own money – legally!”
but who would by one of the 3 descript keys???

2. you don’t need to complete the event… you just have to clear the area around the skill points in Orr and then do whatever you need to do there… did this with guardian and ele on my own… next could be necro/thief/ranger/warrior… I’ll decide that later…
3. maybe it is your gear? not exotic? pure DD and no hp/toughness/heal?

1. not correct, you get more xp at the beginning (multiplicator for several xp sources of 2 that decreases slowly to 1)… the time needed to level up will constant somewhere after level 20…
2. why 20 levels? why not ~160k exp for free? that is the amount you would need to get from level 2 to 20… when you are level 80 that would be ~60% of the level…
3. when your parents would give you a car for free would you nag until you get a Ferrari/Porsche? If “it should bump a player 20 levels…” then it would work that way…
4. it’s a FREE coupon (“earned” by playing the game, but they don’t need to give us those…) and of course Anet tries to sell more character slots… use it, save it or throw it away…
5. Would be unfair if it would be changed since many players used 1-? scrolls already… maybe they wouldn’t have used another way if it would have been working your way…

The remember password option is only good in a few situations:
1. crashs —> relog very often —>*
2. login is not working —> several tries to login —> *

  • —> save the password and delete it later
    (still not good, but when a hacker is able to steal the files with the password then the password could be stolen by keylogger)

1) no, sorry… but the tag is quite useful (guild bounty, puzzle, “runs” with more than 5/10 players)

2) for wvw zergs a “good” solution when there are no other tags – buuuuuttttt:
camp groups use the tag too… it is useful for the zerg to see the camp groups… the camp groups need that feature too – when from different guilds and not the same (room in) TS… or else they have a “meeting” every now and then

3) pure amount or special stuff? a constant value? or only the top e.g. 10% or 500 on the server?
I have >10.000 achievement points – there are players with more points, I know… I have a commander tag… I know how to use it… but there are commanders with 9000 and even 6000 points in our alliance and both are at least equal commanders… (not a big difference in PVE, but I guess both are much better in WVW!?)

so achievement points are not the best way to select the “worthy” (JPs, hitting a map boss a few times, killing some enemies with different weapons, … participation in dailies/monthlies/activities/special events has nothing in common with being a good commander)

a commander should know the classes (how to control that? a test?)
not like this one fractal group “equip your fear skill, pls” —> “Look at my class, not my armor” (hint: I was not a warrior )

other group, in the lava fractal, at the boss: two guardians are down first while a thief and an ele are still fighting – very nice comments from the grave!
1. “never played GW1? You should use water against destroyers… fire is useles” (and I thought I should switch between all my elements because water is useles when you want to deal damage (with a staff)… I was wrong… “higher (and more) numbers = less damage” )
2. “dagger/dagger would be much better” – I switched later- “where is the ice field… switch your weapons when the bubble comes and slow the boss…” (sure thing… just wait until I get my 2nd weapon set… sooo, never…)
3. “you have to give more support! We will kill the boss then…” (from 2 guardians not using their walls, dead before the 1st adds are hitting them, …!! How will they do it? Rot and poison him?)
4. “you have to remove our conditions” (they were either running away from me or standing around… guess which condition they wanted me to remove )

and all of them had >4.5k achievement points which was quite good back then… but they had no idea what they wanted, what is possible or what went wrong…

Weighted PvP Score

Scenario 1:
player A kicks the kitten of an enemy defending the point… player B arrives starts capping…
player A finishs the enemy and starts capping for the last second…

what now? B capped much longer than A… but A did all the work while B was just standing around…

today I opened the lord room first time one player was bound while he was trying to kill me…
second time two players were trying to kill me…
in the end I attacked the NPC and killed two of them… after that I was able to bind 4 enemies for about 10-15 seconds + time for the way to me & back – while they were fooling around my team could cap all 3 points and hold them until the match was won…
—> shouldn’t I receive points for capping too? I was doing the hard stuff while my team was standing in 3 circles…

the point is: what is fair?

and btw: the server would have to work more (now: remember “X was helping to kill/cap/rezz/…”; with your idea: server has to count and then calculate the points)

when you want to do the same with kills:
how to do it? by damage? what is with efficient damage not dealt? like confusion keeping the enemy from casting? or torment when the enemy stops moving around and other players can use aoe or skills that would be interrupted when they move?

ok, here is an easy one:
how to do it for rezz? what is fair? split by time or split by the amount a player restored?

Scenario 2:
you down, enemy down… you won’t make it… player comes and finishes the enemy… you rally…
you did all the work but you would have died… so no points for you and all points for the teammate? or (almost) all points for you because you got the enemy down and the other player did just finish him?!? something in between?

Errr…. nope… not good… very bad idea…

players buying stuff is a “sink” that removes gold from the game (black lion company is more like a high pressure toilette… thanks to the gem price you can flush down your gold without taking it out of the bag)

without it the market would change a lot since no one needs old stuff since they could “get their old stuff back”…
e.g. back pack? why use money? use karma, change the skin…

you can have the same result by simply not destroying your stuff

Target without being in a group

Even without a group it could be useful to have a target.
E.g. “Subject 7” (??? not sure -> the slime in Queen’s Gauntlet)

I had the “oh you hold the right mouse button to strafe? I’ll mark the selected enemy even if you did not use the left mouse button”-bug, lost the “boss” and was unable to find it again… and failed the fight with 5 open gambits…

without a group it should be possible to realize just by a few changes in the client (the server should not need to know about that since the information will not be passed to other players?)
and it could help a lot – especially when all enemies look the same…

More Player Titles Please

On the one hand: Some counters with(out) achievement points but with new titles could be fun…even without title

Rezz: Like 50k “combat doctor”, 100k “friend of everything that moves”, 250k …. 1M+
or just the counter ’til it is close to overflow?! ^^

on the other hand: so many titles and not enough time/room to use all of them… dunno could be 15+ titles!?!

WP/repairs/build change with Karma

Changing builds: <=3,5 silver… lol, I paid less than 50 silver since release for that… used planing tools or PvP…

waypoints? chop a tree, harvest something, … finish one event maybe two (three events when you travel from one end of the map to the other) or kill something (~10 enemies should be enough) and you have your money back…

repairing: how often are you cuddling the floor that you suggest that?

you know that you can buy items for karma to gamble? I made about 19 gold and got about 40 gold in items for my karma (started with ~1.6M). The 19 gold should be enough for the next 1000 deaths.

So basically you are asking if they could “build the roof before the basement is even started/dry”?!?
let them finish the complete system before it is integrated into the game…

a) maybe they have to change stuff (—> many players texting “the old system was better…”? no thanks)
b) and the TP could be influenced by this too… (there are always traders/hardcore gamers with enough gold to buy things from TP to get the new stuff)

The scroll should remain as it is now. With a possible upgrade to “You are instant level 20 and each level you had before gives 1 free skill point” (example: next paragraph). I got a few level 80 chars, level 50, 45, 35 and 20 (that one thanks to the scroll) and I guess I can say you level fast enough (so you don’t need the scroll) and as long as you have enough new chars these scrolls are quite nice. My ele got my first scroll and “one kill, one skill” was quite nice to get all weapon skills. Starting with 3 utility skills is pretty awesome too. The only thing you need: better gear! When I have the 10k chest a new warrior will be the next.

char level —> result (level, skillpoints)
1 --> 20, 1+10 (1 for the first level, 10 points for levelups from 11 to 20)
2 —> 20, 2+10
3 --> 20, 3+10
4 —> 20, 4+10
5 --> 20, 5+10
….
20 —> level 20 + 20 skillpoints
21 --> level 21 + 20 skillpoints

80 —> level 80 + 20 skillpoints

would not be much, but something… and since there are so many xp scrolls thanks to champs it would not make a difference that would have a bad influence…

It could give a specified amount of xp but at least 1 or 2 levels + x skill points…

e.g. with 2 levels

1-19 —> 20 & 1-10 (like before)
20+ --> level+2 & 2 +x skillpoints

Dungeons trash skipping

“Following the player” is a not so good / very bad idea…
a) useles – e.g. 5 players, 1-3 mobs = 2-4 can run away while 1-3 is/are kiting and the rest runs away to regenerate – they could switch the model to “one is fighting = noone will regenerate”, but in this case no player could switch their armor/weapon or reskill/retrait = wipe is needed

b) it could be abused – e.g. cof p1 one kites all enemies while the others kill the stationary enemies

c) it could be abused – one player runs in circles around an obstacle while the rest attacks the enemy with AOE keeping some distance (I guess it is the armor but we have some “victims of permanent attention” with us – “fashion victims”?)

better idea would be …???
enemies skipped = longer events after that (without giving extra loot or exp) or the area changes
like skip the bridge in cof p1 —> instead of 10 acolytes you will have to kill 20 and (copies of the) remaining enemies from the bridge will be part of the console event or they could be in the boss room or boss has more hp or there will be some floor made of lava or there will be some indistructable canons that you cannot turn off because the group on the bridge has a key to do that
cof p2: not all players got over the lava with Magg —> Magg needs more time to open the door or you have to defend Magg while he is harvesting “Magmacyte” or…

but since I do whatever the group wants (fight/skip): never touch a running system!

Mass salvage inventory feature

Problem:
which salvage kit to use? only one kind? could be a problem if you are salvaging 20 things and have one kit with 1-20 uses and another with 25… you could end up with 2 kits and both are almost empty… (so order of the kits is not the best idea… number of uses is left —> should work)
what if you want to use a better kit for the green stuff?? How to select that?

Big problems:
maybe there are valuable upgrades in the item… maybe you want to check… but then you could salvage all the stuff while doing that…

the server would have to generate and send the same amount of results in a shorter time… hopefully we will never see a “salvage of death” attack where several 100 players have full stacks in 150 slots of their 160 slot inventory (some room to collect the results) and click on “salvage” the same time (with the endless salvage kit)…

Should be enough if there was an option like
“Stop bugging me, I know what I do, so stop asking me ‘Are you sure …?’ [yes/no]”
that will stop this dialog.
Should/Could be like “Don’t ask when [common, master, rare, exotic] or lower”
with a drop down to select the max rarity.

—> you could salvage “all” the items without searching the kit to select/double click it again… (ok, when it is empty, but not after every item)

The game crashed sometimes the last days and then a dialog/message appeared:

Do you want to check the files? (not a quote)
[Yes] [No]

I’m not sure if it is already implemented, buuuut:
could you change it so players can postpone the check?
or to start the check even if no files are corrupt/the game did not crash?

the check needed about 30 minutes on my “old” pc – even with SSD
I would have played but I did not know if I would be able to start the check when I would have clicked no… so I had to wait … and wait… and… zzzZzzzzZzz

e.g.
[Crash… important…blah]* When do you want to check the files?
[Now] [Next start/logout (ask again)] [Forget it (until the next x crashes happened)]

or

[Crash… important…blah]* Do you want to check the files now? Click no for skipping or postponing the check.
[Yes] [No]
Yes —> check and repair, then start the game

Ask again next time the login is started (even when you logout)?

Group in a Guild Team

Invisibility option for commanders would be nice/enough/better… IMHO

one reason would be that our alliance is split into two guilds… so we have a) more than 20 players and b) not one but two guild teams(?) (reasons: influence, buffs, two towers to own, …)

second reason: could be abused if not implemented the right way – e.g. 20 players in the same dungeon…
should be normal group (see position, health, conditions, … can go into the same instance)
and a “raid group” a group of groups (see the positions)

third reason: more information for the server to process and to send
player x is with player y in a raid group —> send each of them the position of the other one – even when they are not near each other…
group of 5: each player needs the coordinates of the other players 5*4 positions will be send (if we assume that the server will not send you your own position, +1 for each correction that has to be made – we ignore that)
group of 20: 20*19 positions – 19x more than before
group of 50 (not enough for a run with e.g. [Rose]): 2450 positions = 122x more than with 5 players


an alternative idea:
new option to set your commander invisible to “normal players” (so they don’t follow you and the “big zerg” commander will not argue about whether you should switch it off/can keep it on)
only your group (so they can follow you) and other commanders (so they don’t bump into you because they go for the same targets) can see you…

another icon (color?) for the “invisible marker” would be nice… so the “zerg commander” can see who forgot to switch to invisible…


improvement for your idea:
marking guild members (close to you) in another color on the minimap
(group = blue, guild = orange/red/yellow/…)
this way only the client has to be changed (not the server) and the server does not need to send more information to all the clients in these “raid groups”

not perfect: range is quite low, so you will not be able to see your groups everywhere…

Commander Tag should be Account Bound

Why not just link the commander tag to xp earned via wvw?
X amount unlocks the tag for another level 80 character slot on your account.
The more xp you earn…the more you can unlock.
Possibly even a graphical representation, say stars or a colour change, on the tag itself to show other players that the commander has the experience, ingame, to hold the tag and not just the funds to buy the name only.

Then all players will use their commanders to get the xp/‘cp’. So they get a second/third/… commander for free.
Ok, let’s say there is a rule like “only ‘cp’ for member of the raid”.
On what base should they be given? Per killed enemy? Doesn’t need a good commander – just luck that the other group is smaller. Successfull attacks?

The “only member rule” could result in a variety of bad decissions – like groups not on base what is needed.
Like e.g. 5 smaller groups conquering camps on one map. While the zerg needs more players to get a tower.

What if two commanders attack the same camp/tower/…? Will they get both the cp? Or only one of them? Which one? The one with the bigger zerg? Then the bigger zergs will steal attacks from smaller zergs. The first to arrive? Then “no” commander will help because there are other targets where cps are waiting.

cp for building stuff? Then there will be camp groups conquering all the camps and using the mats to build siege weapons close to the camp…

Limit the commanders to x per map? In the end the zerg commanders can’t activate theirs!?

Maybe “cp only for zergs with more than x players” is a solution? But I’m not sure about that.

And last but not least:
if cp for each kill -> negative cp for each lost player of the own zerg?
what is a good amount for the needed cp? so a commander needs 6 month-1 year to get the com-tag for free? less/more time?
if a commander is good with class x: why should (s)he change to another class?


same for “a better tag”… you can ‘read’ those as “was here a lot of his/her time” or “the enemies were less/not so good” or “the players in his/her usual zergs were quite good – since they earned the points”… but it is hard to say if the commander is as good as the tag he is using…

Jumping puzzle leeching, solved

I don’t like the idea that much.
When the jumping puzzle in Gendaran was finally open to the “crowd” it was crowded? Messy? Chaotic? Let’s say all of those words are correct if you put several very infront of them.
Some players were not a help, they were a handicap.
-Giving you speedbufs when you jump
-Casting all the big AOE fields when there are 10-20 players for each enemy. Had to change graphic settings to avoid dia show.
-Standing in places where your camera was forced into a fixed position – with my asuran mesmer there was no jumping puzzle… only players as far as I saw.

I ported all these “obstacles” anyway with some of my guild+alliance members. I’m fine with that. And it is nice to have a “safety line” in case someone falls down in a JP (e.g. WvW, eternal). Even if the one falling is you (e.g. “Troll’s end”, the one jump where you can hit your head if your timing is not good which causes you to restart the complete jumping part)

IMHO there is nothing to fix and by adding “interstations” the “problem” will not be fixed (more mesmers…. or more time… or the players will have to jump the easy parts on their own and only the hard parts will be ported… ……)

Commander Tag should be Account Bound

Depends. This way newbies will not be scamed. And players have to think about this. Otherwise they could buy the book and sell it if they don’t want it.
And: stop crying or Anet could come to the conclusion that you want the book to be soul bound.

You should have to take a commander test to get one! And get 100 players to sign your petition!

Absolutely right. Some are camping in LA just to show that they had 100g to get the tag. But some players are using their tags for guild missions (“bounty @ com” is much easier than pinging a poi/waypoint and then writing stuff like “then south to … then west”! And for puzzles it is quite nice to see the leader when the #1 rule is “everyone stays with the ‘leader’/commander”)

Not a good idea. Result would be “you sign mine, I sign yours” and 101 players would confirm that they all are great commanders (or the 101 dalmatians – when they are bored enough).


I like the idea “pay once, use with any char”. But 100g would be a little cheap?!?

possible solutions:
-You have x commanders -> you get the account commander for free (x=3-5 would be good IMHO, equals 300-500 gold and most players need some time to get this ammount)
-Pay x gold to get the account commander (only available to chars with normal commander [so players with one bought commander pay as much as players with no commander, problem would “be 2 or more bought commanders”], x=200-400 for the AcCom would be good, with normal commander it would cost 300-500 gold but players with more than 1 commander would have payed more… and there are ways to mess this up (as a programmer))
-Class based unlock -> e.g. your thief has the tag = all the other thiefs in your account have the tag (so 800g would be the max, even when you have more than 8 chars. The only benefit: you can switch to another char (of the same class) when you want to play a new one (in WvW when you want to spend the points in another way, in PvE when you want to use another character))
-First commander 100 gold, after that e.g. 50 gold each (could be realized by a second book that you can only buy when this char/account has already a commander) – But this would be unfair for players with 2 or more commanders in their account.
-Keep it the old way. So people will have to think about stuff like “Do I really like this character? Do I need a commander on it? Enough money?….” and Anet has more time to fix bugs

You are comparing apples to Ferraris and trying to implicate that the Ferrari does not need seats because an apple has no seats!?

GW 1 did/does not need stuff like idle kick timer – there are only 2 kinds of areas: “outpost” and “not an outpost”.
In outposts you have no enemies (and enemies do not scale with number of players) -> idling players do not influence important stuff
All the other areas are instances. And you have neither a disadvantage by keeping a player nor an advantage by kicking someone. (Except that the lazy bum will not get any achievements/the loot – but the game is not harder and you could not get another player into the area to help you)

BTW: The IKT is not working in instances in GW2. So you can idle there as long as you want/until you ISP kicks you.

Things to improve:
Some kind of audio would be nice. E.g. every 10 seconds one beep from 55 secs (away from kick) to 25 secs, every 5 secs one “double beep” 20-10 and 9-0 every sec one beep… in case someone can not read the chat because a window is blocking it.

The IKT is quite nice except for things like Sanctum Sprint when you already finished the race. Had the problem too. But since there were players idling (in Sanctum Sprint, Dragonball Arena, …) to get the achievement: the IKT is needed!

On the one side:
it sucks to change the enemies (then some players wastet about one hour or even more and others get it “for free” (a manual will be available within no time) and the title loses some of it’s value because it is “easy” and everyone has it)
and you get a title for this (so a hard enemy should be part of it – or else the title will be equal to “had some time for this”)
and there is a little pattern (like first/next water, … same for belching, …) – it is just harder to find than copy cat/kill yourself by drinking too much/… and you need some tries to have a good start and find the time he switches his pattern
and you need to count when his skills will be reenabled and you have to use some easy patterns yourself (quick enabling water/belch – depending on what you need)

on the other side:
yes, it was a little hard… too hard for a “game”
much more hp than the player and infinite use of his special skill
the title (as it is) should be renamed to “Ultimate luck”

The “jumping puzzle” can be finished without jumping even once…
(lol, calling that a jp, there are harder vistas/POIs – e.g. [The Vizier’s Tower])

on the way to the top is a 10x-charge for skill 3 (teleport)
—> get it, port yourself to the top (step by step)

the sanctum run can be finished without jumping once (neither skill 1 nor SPACE) – maybe you need several tries…
be slow, grab the items for the elite skill and use skill 3 to teleport…
port yourself to the next checkpoint until you reach the “end”…
walk the the last “few” steps

only place 1-3 and 1st place cannot be achieved by doing so… (except you are fast/there are not many players/they wait for you to finish)

the belching needs no jumps (as shown before)
—> 16/18 achievement without one jump!
= enough

(BTW: clock tower of the mad king was harder since you could not stop and other players were blocking your view and you had no skills (pure jumping)…)

so what are the problems you might have?
instead of doing as much as possible while getting ressurection and portals for free you started to complain…
and now you have to chose 3 out of 5 hard tasks (norn in b.b., 40 of 52 crystals, googles, 1st and/or 3rd place in the race…)

I like it somehow without duels… did not like those as*****s in other games that were standing “everywhere”… just to start duels with anyone who was coming to close… just hoping that some players would click “accept” (by accident)
and not once… more like 3-5x until you got away…
yeah… that was “fun” in those games – level 3 vs 16-20 (when you came out of the tutorial) – no thanks…

if Anet implements this feature:
-pls, not those fat dialogues that block the view… (how to kill/annoy a player in a jumping puzzle? just start a duel when he is almost at the chest and he jumps)
-an option “I don’t want duels! Auto decline” (standard for this: no duels)
-a well made system (green items vs. exotics would not be fair… —> maybe like pvp each player has a set for his duels? what about “enemies” and buffs? will they receive buffs by other players/the other player? …attacked by the enviroment? if players are not attacked by other players/enemies ANet has to avoid players cheating with this* —> many things to think about)
-maybe not outside of cities (so players will not use their upgraded gear to loot or rush )

*e.g.
rushing through an area by starting a duel (when the creatures ignore them while they are in a duel)
rezz-ing other players (when the creatures ignore them…)
not able to open a chests
no gathering
players should not able to “farm” while being in a duel (doing pve stuff for loot/xp)

I guess even the players without that problem would like to have that…
in some areas the floor is so red that it is hard to see the circles (when you are not searching for them)
(e.g. when you attack with ranged weapons and try to place some aoe it could happen that you ignore the circle around your character
fotm, grawls, lava, boss – blue, purple, yellow, … would be much better in that area, green brings to problems (color blind people would not like it and green = good stuff – e.g. when you place your aoes))

I would like a second weapon set for my elementalist (engi could get a second too, but I guess no player would use/need it)
even if one weapon is enough while being in a fight!

reason(s):
we played CoE and with ele you don’t want to use staff against several enemies…
e.g. when you have to fight the big one (path 2) that uses charge attacks…
it is better to use scepter+focus to slow him more often…
but the next groups (one will come to(wards) the group) should be easier killed by staff (just nuke+freeze+… them)
—> had to run away to switch

you can not be interupted by attacks (e.g. changed your staff to 1 dagger —> attack --> 8 skills are missing (2 per element/attunement) except you run to get rid of the aggro)

it is harder to sell one of your weapons (because you switched to staff and your offhand is in the bag with the drops)

how it could work:
like changing your skills: the player should/could only be able to switch sets when (s)he is out of fight…
the rest should work the same way the other chars are played… press ^ to switch to the other set…

benefits:
the only difference: faster/easier and you see what happens around you (now you have to press H, locate the weapon(s) and switch them by hand)
not selling the offhand when you switched to staff and your cheap offhand is in the first few bags with the other drops…
you don’t need to run away to switch weapons/equip your offhand (while other players write things like “wrong way” or “lol! fight!”)
