I’m never on these forums, but I decided to check it out regarding the PvP situation today.

I don’t have to tell anyone the system/meta is completely horrible at the moment, so I’m not going to bother with that. All I want to say it as a Solo/Duo-player, reaching Ruby was sometimes a fun, sometimes the most horrible grind. I barely ever rage, but I did get annoyed massivaly the last few days. Running into 3-5man ESL player premades at anytime of the day who obviously play the most unenjoyable builds finally got me to the point I don’t care anymore. I played a variation of the power Revenant build up to ruby, but forced myself to switch to other classes. (Not playing bunker mesmer/condi rev though, I have dignity).

But for all you Solo/Duo-queuers out there, I have good news for you. After you reach Ruby, you don’t have to care anymore, you just don’t. And since you won’t care anymore, I started to enjoy pvp a little bit more. The gameplay is still far, far, far, far less enjoyable than it used to be, but not caring at all anymore, since you know you won’t go up to Diamond/Legendary as Solo gives some relaxing thought that you won’t have to try anymore.

For now, run with Dom/Dueling/ Inspiration OR Chaos

Power Block (or Mental Anguish), Shattered Concentration, Confounding Suggestions
Phant Fury or Duelists discipline, Blinding Dissipation, Deceptive Evasion
… anndd whatever you want.

Marauder Ammy. Energy sigils, some fire/air thrown in. Lug around a greatsword and you’re good to go.

Runes of Lyssa, Strength, Eagle, Hoelbrak, Air, Traveler (bleh) or Pack work fine.

Edit: Alternatively, you’ve got options for Lockdown, Boonshare (yaaa it’s kind of a thing now), and Condition.

I guess they suddenly got inspired to improve it.

Traditionally, even “today” human mesmers are regarded as trendsetting fashionista types, with an almost uncanny beauty/physical perfection because they’re blessed by Lyssa.

However, the question has always been….Is it an illusion?

We also don’t have a heal which would properly benefit from Glamour traits so I don’t see this happening either.

Chronomancer could have a Glamour heal. A healing field that we drop on the ground would make a lot of sense if it’s a defensive/supporty spec, which seems likely.

How about reverse-confusion field that will heal allies on action instead of damaging.
Or a swarm of butterflies that would bounce on allies, healing, granting a random defensive boon and restyling their outfit.
Or immobile phantasm that slowly breaks into butterflies, healing nearby allies.

When I google chests I don’t see a GW2 reference until page 3…

This whole shield mess just proves that either the balance team don’t know what they are doing or that they couldn’t give a kitten about Mesmers and have no interest in listening to the people playing their game.

Its incredibly embarrassing for them, I already know people who are leaving the game because of their attitude. I’m currently just logging in for dailies just to keep up a bit on the off chance something amazing happens with the specialization. As soon as the spec information comes out and its as kitten as I am expecting, I’m uninstalling.

Or it could mean that you have no idea what changes are coming with the new healing, utilities, elite, profession mechanics, traits, and you are speculating an entire specialization will be unbalanced because of a 3 second long video clip that shows a mesmer with a shield. Then again seeing as how you are saying you are going to uninstall the game based off that 3 second long clip I guess a rational thinking is a little much to ask.

The Power Block thread is worse tbh – so many posts in there are hitting me with 25 stacks of confusion, I feel like glamour builds have made a comeback.

I honestly cannot believe some of what I have read in that thread.

The only way I can rationalise it is that those posters do not/have not mained mesmer or acquired sufficient experience playing one and as such don’t have a clue about what does/doesn’t work.

There is no such thing as an OP class or a OP profession, there are only good players, nothing less nothing more. Every profession has its weakness and strong points as well as every build has its weakness and strong points but dont ever say a build or a profession is OP because there is no such thing. As they say; seek the problem in yourself first before you go out and look for problems in others.

There is such a thing as an OP profession. I can point to quite a few in the past.

Now, I would argue we don’t have any OP professions right now, but they definitely were a thing.

We certainly have underpowered ones currently, namely the class this thread is primarily concerned with…

Learn to play. Thats all there is too it.

necros are fine.. rangers are fine. warriors, guardians, even eles. i had good fights against all these classes. Everyone complains about turret engies but seriously i never called bullkitten on an engineer that beat me. stop hating engineers and start hating mesmers because this spam class is a nuisance through and through for anybody.. a fun class idea turned inconvenient and frustrating. visual effects that fill up your entire screen for example..
