Its funny how Anet doesnt realise that such things escalate very quickly.. Wvw players are leaving, so what casual wvw like me do? I join one of the maps, roam but takes too much time to meet anybody, very often no tags so I cant really zerg. After 1-2 minutes trying to figure out why I am still making circles in this empty area I just alt+f4. Few days like this and I start wonder why i even play “wooorld versus woooorld” when there are few people most of the time. When more people leave, you have less opponents to fight. The most important “content” in wvw are players, if you lose them, you lose everything and right now i think that the avalanche of leaving players is too big to be stopped.

What is YOUR idea for a "Perfect" WvWvW?

Add a new map which will be active only Saturday for an event called “The Great War”.
“The Great War” starts at a specific hour. (guilds will have time to prepare)
“The Great War” has “x” rounds.
Every round is “x” minutes/hours.
Your world acquires points only by killing enemy players.
After “x” deaths you get teleported out of “The Great War” .You cannot join again or you can join with different character(depends which option players will like more)The next player in the que takes your place.(you wait for next week)
The map has only obstacles – lakes, rivers, hills, castles(which have few entrances)
No siege weapons, no objectives.
The map is big enough to give space for roamers to run from the zergs and to ambush people who replaced the dead and try to reinforce their zergs.
You are safe only at the spawn, the castles dont have any shiny teleports to get you to safety, they can be used only to ambush people in the narrow spaces.
After the rounds end, the world which won most rounds wins. If there is draw between 2 worlds, the winner is determined by the total amount of points in all rounds.
Only the winning world gets reward. The reward should be nice because its once per week( gold to craft ascended/ ascended mats/ black lion keys)

Put legendary armor with unique skins and good requirements. For example:
1.Legendary Boots – 1000 spvp points with Mesmer and 1000 spvp points with Revenant
1 win in ranked gives you 2 points, 1 win in unranked gives you 1 point, no points for losing
Average player( win ratio 50%) playing ranked will have legendary piece after 2000 ranked games.
You will get more people who will need to learn how to play atleast 2 professions. Trying to farm it will be kinda painful because of the 0 points per loss

Hidden Thief + Krait runes-> pre cast elite, steal, sneak attack and you open with 5 different conditions but requires changing some of the trailblazer items so the bleeding doesnt go over 100% and you lose duration for the other conditions

I’m doing fine on thief, S/D has gotten an great buff with all damage on dodge and evade rewards. For D/P Rune of the Daredevil allows me to get 8k backstabs of with a valkyrie amulet making me so much more sustainable. So overall the class is still strong, just got to get to know all the new professions so you can counter them. (Dragonhunter = pull out the shortbow, cuz them traps eat you raw)

Yes, the traps eat you but except traps they can have longbow with 1200 range with nuclear missles for “2” with 4s cd so if you are going to use that shortbow, use it for running.

Like Lamuness.3570 said everybody were waiting for Archeage like they are waiting now for Black Desert and I kinda feel it will be the same fail. Bots, hacks, hardcore p2w model and after few months you realise that the only people still playing the game are the cheaters and the guys from the “MasterCard Warriors” guild

That being said, with the amount of mobility thief has, I would be shocked if we fall out of meta any time soon.

There’s nothing wrong with referencing strong players of thief community as well, as (in a way) they’re the representation of how a class plays under perfect circumstances.

You can only do your best to play your class to the fullest you can, but PvP will still be a game where the score of the match will be decided by the effort of 5 people.

You’re either deluding yourself or missing the point, I don’t know which so I don’t know how strongly to chide you. Let me attempt once more to frame it properly.

Thieves remain in meta. This much is true.

The reason why they remain in meta is itself part of the problem.

Thieves have the best vertical mobility of all classes. When it comes to capturing uncontested points, they are prime choices for the job.

The problem is this is all they are good at. Referencing strong players in the community for proof of thieves viability is practically pointless to do, because of course you will be able to name players that have a tightly knit team and that have their role integrated into the actions of their team.

Not all players want to play decap bot. Some actually want to duel, without needing to be restricted to the role of an add.

So, when it comes to top players being representatives of thieves being played “perfectly”, that is up for debate. The way I see it, those are representations of “thieves that delegated themselves to utility” to support their team. While there is nothing inherently bad about that playstyle existing, the fact that it is the only -viable- one (and noncombat largely at that) is the very core of the issue.

Apparently there is some divide between players that want to actually win one-on-one fights and players that believe that being worlds best backcapper automatically validates the class. It all depends on how you define the word viable. Some players that have team synergy find only decapping as viable. Not knocking that.

There are other players that actually want the satisfaction of being able to down classes in 1v1 with their skills while contesting. There’s no allowance for these players, and the problem is a large portion of the playerbase with some thieves included say that this allowance should not be made.

I mean, why have two weapon slots and five weapon skills if you’re only going to use one skill when not assisted?

As one dies(thief), another is born(reve). Its kinda funny and sad at the same time how thieves were waiting for the messiah(daredevil) but soon all will realise that the salvation is called “reroll”.

Im with 50% win rate 100% solo q and I consider myself mediocre player so for me the matchmaking is perfect. Every time I get over 50% and its Saturday or Sunday the game gives me a chance to prove that im exceptional player by puting in my team 4 mobs.This always ends with me going back to the sweet 50%.

Its "WvW’ – > Woooooorld vs Wooooooooorld, not 1vs1 or 2vs2 or 3vs3 or “we gonna fight without using food” or “1vs1 me brah, no running”. Its a place where many people fight with many people. You are seeking “fair” fight in a place which is designed for large scale clashes. Some use food, other not, some are full asc with infusions, other just got their rare, some builds counter other and so on. Spvp is the competetive mode of this game, if you want to prove your skills, fast reflexes, tactical thinking thats the place, not WvW beating people who watch TV waiting to get the “Master of ruins” daily achievement and when you get attacked by another guy trying to capture the ruins screaming “OMFG roaming is so dead 2vs1 isnt fair”. Go in the heart of the mists ask if someone wants to play 12 rounds boxing or ufc rules, pride rules, k1, chess or whatever rules you want. The whole thread is pointless.

Thieves need serious nerf. They have insane damage, which is really easy to deal, backstab has 1600 range, even if u go in melee combat with them their endless hp, protection,cond removal skills, evades and regeneration are impossible to penetrate, its really frustrating when u need to waste 3-4 abilities to down them and all the time blinding, make the blind debuff apair with bigger icon, something like 2m x 2m on my screen so i dont waste my burst. Its so hard to aoe the location of shadow refuge, there are no shining signs “AoE here”.Oh and when they reset the fight, they get to full hp and have all their abilities ready, while my hp doesnt regenerate and my cds freeze, so they engage again with maximum power and i can defend myself only with “1”.

gw2 thief is the most pathetic version of stealth class in any existing mmorpg.The only reason to pick thief is if u like wandering around the map fast.No point playing it unless u are some hardcore thief fan who doesnt care that the class is kitten.

Thieves got too much health.Lower it so they can die from random AoE and you can make youtube videos – Me vs 100 thieves #skill #best #GOD.Lower damage and no stealth too.Tell them to hide behind trees for stealth.Just replace the starting area creeps with thieves.
