Hi guys,

After much consideration I’ve come to the conclusion that I wanted to come back to the SPvP scene. After all there are no MMORPG games out there that can compete with the level of PvP GW2 has to offer and the GvG/WvW scene is ded… for now. After countless hours of reading the forums for the last 2 years I’ve never seen anyone make a post on what to do/counter in order to beat or attempt to beat every class in the game as a thief.

So my question to the thief community is:

Can you guys tell me how to beat and what to do against
-Warriors
-Guardians
-Mesmers
-Necros
-Eles
-Engineers
-Hunters

in a 1v1 situation to win a duel?

Note* (Currently I play a D/P thief with Caed build 2/6/0/0/6 )

Lost a kittenload of respect for JQ today, namely [SG]. STUN and RET actually ended up having to abandon the new GvG arena because we had a bunch of SG guildies jumping into every round, and harrasing our stacks before it had even started.

I guess we have to stick with the windmill because people can’t grow the kitten up.

Ok, personally, I would never interrupt a GvG myself, but does it really seem like such a good idea to immediately go GvG in the absolutely brand new arena, open to the public? Even if it wasn’t SG, you know you would likely have random PuGs running in and messing with the match simply because it’s new content.

Why not wait a little for it to cool down, wait for people to get bored of the new zone, and then schedule your GvGs? Not meant to be trolling at all, just a bit of friendly advice.

Edit: Just as an aside, I’m not defending SG here, I don’t agree with what they did at all.

We did it just to test it out and see how it worked. The arena itself was good. The area to move around was wonderful. The adds not so much but we expected that abit. One can always hope.

Great fights with STUN tonight though. RET is hard at work already looking to improve and work out kinks and builds and get back into the flow of things since it’s been so long. Thanks for the scrimmage tonight and hope to fight you again.

We all enjoyed it very much even the ones we lost. I realized some stuff I need to work on myself.

It was our first GvG, so we were also mainly looking to improve. Turned out to be a kitten good match-up. I’m sure we’ll see you in the field again, and hopefully we get a chance to properly use the GvG arena some time.

Both of those are bad and have bad gear placement.

Like on your pants, each point of crit damage costs 16 stats, why would you use soldiers gear on your gloves where they cost 12 stats with berserkers pants?

Hey Wish, So what is the best/most optimal gear setup for the D/D thief meta using ascended gear? could you give me a gw2build link to it?

Also I notice you use Runes of Traveler on your recent builds. Have you proven that Runes of Traveler is better than Runes of Divinity? Because I have full runes of divinity on my gear.

Just joined last week and am loving it! When running WvW they’re hardcore and play with such intensity it makes me feel like I’m about to fall off the edge of my seat! And fight outnumbered all the time..

But off the battlefield, they’re the most friendly and hilarious people you’ll get to know. They do fun guild events that I’ve seen no other guilds do!

BG during NA prime, for the love of god please stop running into your towers and building your Arrow carts…. for the last 2 days that we have left can we please get some good fights in. I love when people keep bringing this up for the guilds that lost to RG during those GvGs. So what does that make of the guilds that continuously get wiped day in and day out by these guilds that apparently are so bad? They are clearly worse by extension then, correct?

I just ask, because it’s so funny to read that “scared” against RK because they don’t want GvG. And the last thing I heard is that IRON didn’t like to GvG against RG when they were on JQ.
That’s a bit of a double standard.

I think it’s fair to say TW has EMP’s number, but it’s definitely a good aspiration to try to beat the best to be the best, so for that I think people should give Rawnoodles credit.

We are the “true kings of wvw.” SOR, your server has a lot of “bad players.” If you join us, we will teach you how to win #1 in wvw and be “good players.” JQ, we used to zerg you to death and now we cannot do that. If you join us, we will teach you the right way to zerg. We used to lead by 50k points by the end of the weekend through zerging and just go cruise control the rest of the week and still win the match by 20k. You guys can’t even get more than a 20k lead on the weekend. Your zerging sucks!!

Wait, so the kings of wvw have pretty much up and quit once they started losing? Honestly before you start acting high and mighty remember two things. 1. This is just a game no reason to get all kitten because someone beat you after you pvdoored to t1 and then won for 9 straight weeks. 2. The way most of the SoS forum posters seem to represent them selves is not as a great community but as a community of whiners. Maybe if you would stop having a pity party people would want to come to SoS.

If any server had undeniably overall better players/commanders/guilds/tactics then we’d see them dominating more (or not, if they get 2v1’d and they would continue to do so throughout the week.

I’m looking for new gear on my thief in order for him to have these stats:

-Around 15k hp
-roughly 2k base power (without food/ might buffs)
-50% crit chance
-1500 toughness

Currently I’m wearing all berserkers jewelry with exquisite jewels on them. and my armor is full valkyrie with all superior divinity runes. My weapons are both berserkers daggers as well. I run a 0/30/30/10/0 build.

What gear should I swap out and buy to have the above desired stats?

Hey guys, I decided to leave my guild today due to the fact that our WvW commander is leaving the game and I feel that our 2nd in command taking over his role is an incompetent leader. I was in the guild [SPQR] on the server Sanctum of Rall Tier 2 bracket and I’m looking for a competent and mature guild focused on WvW. I have full exotics and have experience fighting top tier guilds on SOS, Blackgate, IOJ etc. and have learned many of their strategies. I also know most if not all the tips and tricks of my class.

So I just joined this guild like a week ago and tonight we were in WvW defending a tower as usual. All of a sudden a huge zerg of enemies blasts through the gates and walls and we rush to our defenses! We start building sieges like mad men, order our guardians to push them back. Before I know it, it’s 10 of us vs. 50 of them! Outnumbered, we stand our ground like the Spartans of 300! Sea of Sorrows.. we put their name to the test. I witness a miracle. The organization, courage, and will of the 10 of us left remaining begin to triumph and change the tide of battle. THEY BEGIN TO RETREAT! THEY BEGIN TO FALL OFF THE EDGE OF OUR CLIFFS! THEY BEGIN TO FALL IN VAST NUMBERS! THEY BEGIN TO DIE! Mwahahaha!
