So i’m raising this issue because the game is giving so much grief not only about fixing the game but also my entire computer. I’m not very computer savvy but i will try to explain the best i can.
Issue almost always arise when I log out but do not “X” out of the client (the part where you click Log In) and then Log In again after some time. This almost always happen after a patch. This just breaks the entire game and I wont be able to even launch the client. If i try my entire computer freezes. I cant even “end task” from the task manager. My computer wont let me uninstall the game. Again if i try it freezes my entire system. I’ve tried deleting the “.dat” file to re-patch but that doesnt work either. Further, it affects everything including my steam games. Steam wont launch and wont connect to the internet.
The only thing that I find that work is reformatting not only the partition where I have GW2 but the my entire computer. The annoying part is that downloading the game again. It takes forever. I checked my internet speed and it goes upwards to 170 mbps download and 50 mbps upload speed. Downloading GW2 only maxes out at 15 mbps and thats only 10% of the time most times its under 1 mbps. It also seem to like to count down 1 mbps… 999 kbps… 998 kbps…997 kbps… until it reaches 0. All in all it takes 5 hours to download and install the game.
This happens about once every couple of months. No other game breaks my computer like this but GW2. Am I doing anything wrong? Is this my doing? How do I fix the problem next time it happens? Does this happen to anyone else?

heres the back story of the issue. i launched the game, clicked login, then play on the next page, and the game just goes black. would it would not let me into the character select page. i tried this multiple times getting the same results. i then uninstalled the game and try to reinstall it but it will only download to a certain level before it would stop again and would not continue to download. the game was fine up to yesterday, how do i fix the issue?
Reporting a problem where i get stuck in pvp loading screen. Cannot get into queued match after queue. Frequent crashes on pvp, frequent log in error, same issue with pve. Game unplayable, broken, needs fixing, Its not my internet! Whats wrong with the game? You gonna patch it?
nice to hear you had a good experience with them… This is probably not the right place for this post though. This is for account issues, not KUDOS section.

Sorry if this isn’t the right place to ask. But I was just wondering, those people that were asked to change their character names due to being inappropriate, once you’ve changed your character name, does it also change your name under personal story menu?
Basically, you press ‘H’, then I think it’s the 3rd on the left(looks like a star symbol). The very first part of your story is “My name is (your name)”. Can you confirm that the name change also changed the name here. Thanks!!
Can you please allow us to change our display names (name.####) even if it’s just limited to once a year thing so people don’t abuse it. I don’t mind getting charged with gems to be able to change mine.
At least character names can be deleted if you don’t like them. Display names however are currently permanent and cannot be changed once you register your account.
Yes, as others pointed out, the name was offensive. Since players cannot change their display name—for what I think are pretty obvious reasons—the CS Team anagrams the name from the letters used.
If players aren’t supposed to be able to change their display names for obvious reasons, then character name change(supposedly coming in the future) should be the same and should not be offered.
With character name change in GW1, you’re limited to once a month or something like that. I don’t see why this can’t be implemented on display names as well. Maybe like once a year even.
This does not make sense.

At least a onetime change would be appreciated!
Agree… All the issues can be avoided if they limited the display name change to say once a year. Give this feature to us already!

And I’m more wanting the second changed i haven’t ever played the other one or logged on the forums with Ill just ask for a refund. Zero time played with a digital copy. I also haven’t down loaded the game yet either
yeah i think you can just ask for a refund. Then recreate it after repurchase. Would be nice if we had the option to change display names now so you don’t have to ask for refunds.
I would rather see resources put into punishing these types of players (which we have no control over) than people swearing (which we have in our control an ignore function).
Or when they put resources in punishing people due to names. I remember a person on this forums being asked to change his name Unsanitary Napkin or something like that while there’s an item in game called Soiled Rag loooool

confrimed. Just happened to us a while ago. Dunno if it’s important but same with ARZK, couple people died from guys outside giganticus door. When door opened, we entered and giganticus won’t turn aggro.

Why would you complain about not getting them and spend more money to get them. You take the chance to get them. Arenanet never said open 20 boxes and get a mini. So why say oh collectors have to spend so much. If you want the minis because your a collector don’t complain about the cash spent. Because I see a lot more money wasters up the road.

Like Snowball Mayhem and the Bell Choior, the Toypocalypse is an activity. They are using the same systems, and these systems do not permit joining by party. Unfortunately due to technical limitations and time constraints before the holidays, we cannot change it. We understand that this is not ideal for people who wish to play in the same party and who are finding it difficult in random groups. We will be adjusting the “Toypocalypse Cancelled” achievement so that you will need to keep only one gift dolyak alive. We do not have an ETA on when this change will be live. You can add a new achievement for “noob player”, a new achievement how require to keep 1 or 2 dolyak alive till the end, ok.

OP, while I don’t agree with anet making this RNG, I can’t believe you’re saying they are greedy because of your fail. If anything, it’s your fault for gambling your week’s wage. Don’t blame it on anet, it’s just asinine! No sympathy for you.
Wow. I don’t think they’ll ever bother with a feature like this. It’s not necessary. Stop being obsessive/compulsive about little things like this. It’ll ruin your game experience. I guess it’s easier said than done.
Also, just for you to think about, if you type in /age on your chat, you’ll see your hours played on your character and account. It’ll probably annoy you too that there’s a bunch of hours played across your account that’s unaccounted for because your characters before were deleted. (ie. you currently only have 1 character and it has logged say 10 hours, but across your account you have logged 100 hours due to old characters deleted). Do you want this reset as well? ^^ Good luck!

Agree with Eroberry. Why is the trial account still existing, or why was it not merged to the account with full game? Honestly, they way they made these trial accounts to be different from the full account once game is purchased is just asking for things like these to happen. Either merge them together or delete the trial account. The way I see it OP, it’s not fully your fault. It’s more on the other end imo.
Also agree with Eroberry about support being more thought out in other mmo’s.
Any accounts that did not receive the reward already would not have been eligible to receive it.
Say what!!!?? And posts from the staff above states that people should contact support if they feel like they should’ve gotten the chest and then this support guy says this? So what’s the point of contacting support? Seems like no communication is going on within the team(doubt that “team” is even the appropriate word at this point).

So, I just got my reply to my support ticket which essentially says too bad, no Karka chest for being in a timezone unable to attend the event.
Pretty much unacceptable when several of my guild members (who attended less of the 3 days than I did) got mailed chests and there are people in this very forum who did not attend the event and stating they received a chest (or got multiple chests). I’m also uninterested in any excuses about scripts or database mining or such.
At this point I am just assuming it depends if you get a friendly or vindictive ticket handler or they are just pulling results out of a hat. Your customer relationship/marketing manager should be all over your devs like stink on a monkey because they clearly don’t understand the whole “alienate the customer who pays the bill” issue.
You know why I’m feeling alienated? The perception of fairness, but you knew that already yes? If there had been no restitution program or one that genuinely only made good to true attendees I would have no problem with it. Now, however, given the mess of who got what, any sane corporation who valued its customers would just go for keeping them happy and say “You know what it was a mess, we’re giving a chest to everyone”. Because the US dude standing in line behind me who couldn’t attend due to his job has just as valid an argument as I do.
Lets put it in terms your corporate people should understand. Your irrational desire to withhold a bunch of free electrons is causing me to want to irrationally withhold my actual real life dollars from your gem store.
Totally agree! The one time event was totally ridiculous. It was biased and honestly, only North America and Europe could really participate in it due to the times. And your point regarding the karka chest in the mail is right on. Definitely not fair. They should’ve just sent everyone a chest since their criteria seems very inconsistent.

Funny thing from their reply to you is that they didn’t even mention not being able to log in due to our fault.
Also, he never mentioned that some people who didn’t even log in during the event got a chest (look at he posts above). Seems like you got a support that doesn’t know the current issue or was kept in the dark by devs.
Lastly, imo, you should get the chest. It’s their fault after all for wrongfully banning/suspending you.
Hi,
I have a friend that contacted support and was told that changing display name is currently not available. However, he also said and I quote “Don’t worry as you won’t be stuck with that display name forever. We only need time to allow this feature.”
As we’re all under the impression that changing the display name is coming (also from the Answers section even during the pre-purchase times), if according to recent posts I’ve read here that it may not come, are we allowed to get a refund whenever Anet confirms if we’re actually not getting this feature(years down the road)?
