CLOSED with no resolution, updated about 3 days ago.
CE items NEVER issued, I never deleted my first character, and never got my items. I swear before the 6 if I had actually blundered myself and deleted them, I would have just given up by now, but I didn’t. They just never came. CE was purchased at Gamestop and my pre-purchase serial was no different that the in-box one. If that makes a difference. Ticket was CLOSED after I updated. It was WAITING before then. Checked bank/in game mail thinking CLOSED meant they had re-issued the items. They had not.

You cant send email between your own characters. You have to use the bank. First deposit items in the bank, then the other toons can take whatever out at will. In game mail is only for sending between folks of different accounts. Banks are located in most major cities.

I’m not posting here because Ive been waiting a terribly long time, but that the issue seems to be getting a little more complicated, and without direct back and forth dialogue I’m not sure I’m making the problem understood. So here goes

I bought a pre-purchase CE on April 10th registered for beta weekends with email address “A” password “A”
Mid-june I buy a standard account digi-download from buy.guildwars2.com
Registered with email address “A” password “B” (to hopefully delineate between the 2 accounts)
Between the Last Beta and some of the stress tests, I’m asked to change the email address on the 2n’d (SE) account…donno why but it tells me to on login. I do.
Standard Edition is now registered with email “B” and it’s own unique password
Website says that my serial was applied correctly and I am able to play until Grace period is over.
After the Grace period I try to log in on SE account and it says to apply a “retail” serial. Okay I go to the website to register the serial again, it says it’s already been registered. Whoo-boy.
So with all this hacking mess going on, I tried to change my email and pw on this account to avoid hacking till I can get back into it, and make sure it is secure.
I use the website to change the email on my SE account to email “C” and it’s own unique password.

Get an email from support today saying that the serial I have been sending them (which is the right one to the SE edition, cause it was emailed and I’ve been copy/pasting it) is registered to….drum roll please EMAIL ADDRESS “A”…..WTF? I’ve changed email’s twice in the last 2 months and it hasn’t taken in the database???

Okay so I start trying to login to this account using:
Email address “A” and both passwords "A’ and “B” that I used with this email…no dice.
Out of curiosity, I log into Guild Wars 1 and Lo-and-Behold it shows email “C” with it’s unique password and I can log in completely. (My GW1 account was non correctly linked with my SE account… perhaps because at the time, they both shared email “B” and it’s unique password but that’s a ticket for another day)

So, I’m terrified to use the “self-help” password thing because I’m afraid I’ll screw up access to the account I DO have access to. Since they are both still apparently using the same email. See what I mean about complicated?

They do have the means to but they have stated several times that they can not do it currently. Now if that means the program to do it is not implemented yet or they are understaffed because of all the support issues I have no heard. For what it’s worth it would be easier to just start over, you’d probably be back to your original state (money, gear, etc) long before they could get to you currently anyway. Sorry.

I do remember seeing a post recently (Grenth only knows where now) but the poster claimed they were having terrible graphics problems with an Overclocked GPU, they cut the overclocking back and the problems disappeared altogether. Just thought this might help.

Yeah, I would certainly ask to see the store MANAGER, if it’s like Wal-Mart there name and picture is posted somewhere in the vicinity of Customer Service, open up the box and show them the sheet (you may want to take the sheet from the other copy with the existing CD key so they can see what exactly is missing) While Wal-Mart doesn’t refund software, they will do a swap for damaged CD’s, etc. I can’t see why Target would not be the same. Take the receipt too if you have it!

Same problem here, I only received the “hero’s band” on my toons and nothing more. Unlike alot of people I did NOT delete the first toon I created, thus losing all of my CE items into the dark abyss of cyberspace. (Those items only come on the first toon you create…Rytlock, Tome of Influence, Chalice of Glory) The Golem banker and Hero’s band you get on everybody. I just never got but the one email with the ring in it, and nothing more. My Mistfire Wolf elite skill is greyed out too. It should be in full color and unlocked even before you are large enough (lvl 30) to use it.

Okay, my BF and I are in the same guild, same server, and in a party, how in the name of Grenth do we join PVP matches and stay TOGETHER??? We’re both very competitive and we’re literally about to kill one another because we can’t take being on opposite teams. (these would be the “hot join” game I think, you talk to the guy with the browser in the Mists)

The only 2 things I’ve seen so far as “diy fixes” are:
1)make sure your account linked properly
2) log into your original GW 1 account

Sometimes that fixes the issue, otherwise, submit a ticket. Hope one helps.

The one who said “reported” as soon as I said the word N***a proceeded to “troll” me after I destroyed him 500- 100 in a tournie match. This was a mad boy who couldn’t care less about the context of the word, and probably wasn’t offended in the slightest but wanted to be the new biggest internet sensation troll 2012.

Like I said before, reporting folks is less about being honest to Dwayna offended, and more about exacting revenge….. from their safe and comfy gaming chair.

It makes my head spin to see people wanting to legislate morality in a game where we murder things for experience, steal stuff from the dead things we kill, break into people’s mansions to look for “evidence”, make decisions wherein our best friend DIES, hear npc’s suggest genocide, kill people without them having a trial, speak openly treasonous dialogue, and on and on the list goes. It’s JUST a video game.

I have the same issue too, though I was waiting on things to calm down a bit before submitting a ticket. I was having trouble linking the accounts. Finally came back to the page stating “Sign in with your GUILD WARS account” which I did, I signed in with my original GW account, and BLAMMO, no confirmation or anything (which I SAW my bf have when he linked his…it was are you sure yes/no) it automatically linked it to my secondary account (which shares an email with the original GW account) to my original GW1 account. NOT the account that I was trying to link it with AT ALL! I am certain this was a software mistake on their end, because I carefully followed directions TO THE LETTER and never got a warning/confirmation.

If Blizzard could do this, then why cant other MMOs follow up on this one simple yet very effective security measure?

I’m still puzzled over the fact that in GW1 you had to know a characters NAME in order to log into the game, and since ALL character names are unique across all servers, why this wasn’t just copy/pasted into the new game??? Seems like this would have gone a long way to quell this mess.

I bought my CE from Gamestop, and when I got home, opened the box and tried to apply the serial, it said it was already applies, and I’ve never gotten the grace period over on that account. Are you getting the “Grace Period Over” screen? or are you still able to play?

p.s. my in box code was IDENTICAL to the one I got for open beta’s on my ticket from GS…. still not quite sure how they did that.

Say No to priority for hacked accounts

The security of the game effects EVERYONE people who can get into the game and those that can’t. I don’t blame them for giving priority to hacked accounts. I for one don’t want to be hacked during a time when “roll backs” aren’t available. I was hacked on WOW once at lvl cap and you can’t even go out and do anything to farm more gear/money with a naked toon in WOW. I can’t imagine getting hacked and having no way to restore your stuff. Not to mention that dirty feeling that someone’s been touching your stuff (those of you that have had a house broken into know what I mean).

I don’t think Anet was prepared for the tidal wave of hackers just slobbering at the doors when this game opened. They had support staff but their nightly updates indicated they were helping 2,000+ people a DAY. That’s a lot of issues to fix and those are just the hacked/account issues. I know it’s hard to be patient, I have issues I’m waiting on too, one of which is I can’t get into an account because the website says my serial has been applied, the login says my grace period is over sigh so I’m right there with ya.

I did a while back (28th) and the email at the top said guildwars2.ncsoft.com via bluehornet.com. Mousing over all the links shows a guildwars2.ncsoft.com address and clicking on the links takes me to the original GW2 pages, with no mispellings or false looking URL’s so I think mine is legit, though someone could have gotten hold of yours and tampered with it.

The point is, with all the safeguards that Arena net has put into the game (blocking players from EVER having to hear from them again, blocking players names from showing, and a chat filter with several settings) The only thing I can come up with is that people just want to retaliate (something they can’t do IRL, you can’t walk up and punch someone in the face for cussing in front of your kid, even if you want too, cause YOU"RE the one who will go to jail). Just like some players troll and cuss people out because you are sitting at home behind your computer and nobody can really DO anything about… let alone know who you are. Some players do the same but in reverse. They are SO tired of people being jerks online, they report them. And viola! they feel instantly vindicated and there’s no way the other player could retaliate on them. If it was real life, and someone could get your address and key your car, set your cat on fire, or put fresh cow manure in your mailbox, they would be more hesitant to do it.

Long story short, psychology shows that punishing people after the fact(hours to days after an incident), and trying to REGULATE peoples behavior generally doesn’t work (see reference: the drug war) How many of you got grounded for a HS report card for 2-6 weeks and came back with all A’s shining on your next report card? Right…that’s what I thought.

I’m sorry that Banned accounts aren’t sent information as to what the nature of the ban was, (ie chat logs) perhaps when A-net isn’t a total madhouse (which I’m sure it is now) that will be the case. I too am becoming one of those players afraid to chat and joke around in game because what I find funny, some would find offensive. And that is ruining my enjoyment of the game. In all my years of playing WOW I was banned ONE time. I was talking in chat and some guy…out of the BLUE says “Hyenawalker… that’s a strippers name! LOL” (my tauren hunter only used a hyena as a pet and they have that whole American Indian thing going on) and to defend my female honor, I torted back “It is NOT! Hyenaf**ker….that’s a strippers name!” and apparently someone took offense to that. It was a little funny because I got a 24 hour ban for the first offense, and by the time I logged in again, it was over. But it still stuck with me. I was sent an email with a chat log, and was like wow, I can’t believe someone reported that at 2AM.

My bottom line is this. With the way the game is set up, I should be able to take MULTIPLE steps to stop someone from offending me, harassing me, irritating me or making me look stupid in chat, BEFORE ever getting a GM involved. It’s a waste of A-nets resources to just ban someone cause you were bored and reading chat while crafting and someone said something you didn’t like. Block that player on YOUR end, cause the rest of us may find him hysterical. Remember being offended is TOTALLY subjective. I may have been brutallykittenby a flock of penguins at the zoo as a small child and any mention of black and white together, birds in general or penguins specifically, or ice or zoo’s may give me flashbacks. Should I report a player for making me uncomfortable in that instance?

So why not use the tools that Arena net GAVE you on your individual account? You see someone cussing? Block them. Simple as that. The Six help those who help themselves. I fail to see the need to be so vindictive that you’d want someone banned (which honestly does nothing to change their behavior, and often times makes it worse when they come back) when you can turn on your chat filter, block them, and turn off player names. Then you’re all safe and cozy again.

I read a post from Gaile last night (if I see it again, I’ll edit) that stated to the effect of they did have the ability to restore stuff to accounts, just not right now. I don’t know if that means under staffed to do it, or the program to access the “roll backs” hasn’t been implemented yet. But I figure at this point by the time it is implemented, most people who got their accounts back won’t need it anymore.

For my $0.02 worth (yeah I know blah blah) I think an account wide 3 day suspension for a naming infraction is just excessive. Perhaps that toon being banned for 3 day or being banned until a moderator or GM can approve the new name so they can get back to playing… well that seems more appropriate, though with everything going on that solution would probably amount to more than a 3 day ban right now. Sadly.

The flipped name “Fittle Lucker” wow, I have a dirty mind, I cuss, I make sailors blush, and I’m a girl. It took me several minutes to unravel that one, much longer than I would have seen that name unless I was standing behind him at the Bank or TP, so yeah. I honestly think that people that aren’t mature enough to IGNORE things like that have issues. My Mama taught me a loooooong time ago that we can’t control other people’s behavior. And being an adult is part of accepting that in my opinion. I hear people cuss in Wal-Mart, I hear screaming kids one isle over (which is like nails on a chalkboard to me… and my mother constantly reminds me I was NEVER allowed to scream like that as a child) people talk in movies, but I have never, ever, not even ONCE asked for someone to be REMOVED from an establishment of any kind. I’m an adult I tune it out. And I honestly don’t see the need to report ANYONE even if they cussed you blue. Why? Because you can block them, censor them in chat, and remove the ability to see their name-tag in game YOURSELF without ever getting a GM involved. Unless you just want to enact your own revenge on someone by taking away something from them (maybe because you can’t do it yourself???) I see no reason for anyone to report anyone, really.

And as far as these forums blatantly putting in the word “kitten” as a substitute for foul language in various posts, that’s more offensive to me than the original cuss word because I honestly jump to the conclusion that for some arbitrary reason the poster threw the slang word for female anatomy in at a random part in the post, and I’m like WTF? Couldn’t they use a world like “hippopotamus” or something? YIKES!

I’m also an active community member. I’ve been reading the updates, reading the forums and I’ve followed the development of this game for 3 years. If players in chat have questions, I do my darnedest to help them if I know, or at least say I don’t know. I’ve been trying to offer help here as well if I’ve read a post elsewhere that might help or give someone hope. I was raised by someone who cared enough about me to instill that care in other people and taught me that just because people do bad things or things we don’t like, doesn’t mean they should be looked down upon, thrown out, or reviled. In other words treat people like you want to be treated… frustrating as it is some days. AND I CUSS LIKE A (&$(&(*&*@#& GANGSTER!!!! Does that mean that I don’t get to be a part of this community? I cuss so much I honestly don’t even know I’m doing it most of the time, which really makes me uncomfortable around my best friends 6 year old but I digress.

In the end I do what is on my heart to do. Even if it’s a little rough around the edges. And I hope in the long run the community is a miniscule bit better for it.

Collector's Ed/DDE Item Questions [merged]

Okay now I’m TOTALLY worried. It would seem as though that I’m the only person who NEVER received any of their items…..ever. Everyone else made a toon and deleted their stuff, I logged on,( had played since beta weekends knew what I wanted everyone to look like), created them straight away and started playing. The only thing I ever got was a Hero’s band (which appeared on every toon). If I had deleted any of my toons and lost the items (I’m a big kid!) I would just take my lumps and be happy I have the 10" mini Rytlock on my shelf above my computer. But I didn’t my items just never appeared. They weren’t there during the last couple stress tests during which I saw loads of other folks running around with their mini’s, and they weren’t there at Headstart. I don’t receive the Golem Banker on any newly created toons either. (I pre-purchased the physical CE from Gamestop on April 10th)

In sympathy to you guys, I could have very well done the same thing. I think a large majority of players experience with MMO’s is with WOW (yeah….I know don’t talk about WOW blah blah blah….) but in Wow, whenever you get a collectors edition pet they all come in a new mail to every new character. Rift was the same way too (if you bought from Wal-Mart you got some little mini in-game froggy thing that was kinda cute) so I can understand how people were shocked after deleting a toon that it didn’t just reappear on the next one. (It never occurred to me that people would jump in, randomize a toon, and then come back later and make it just to save a name… but again Arena net DID encourage us to get in and get those names, since they are unique across the WORLD of Tyria, not just server-wide.)

I would also like to point out here, that the message on the support page about the Rytlock’s being a one time thing was only posted about 2 hours after Headstart began. I know because I had been looking for a solution as to why my stuff didn’t show up, when my BF deleted his toon because he made him too tall (little RP here but both our Guardians are brothers…. they were Bloodelves in Wow and Humans here) So he re-made his Guardian to fix the issue, and bam! all his stuff was gone. I start looking about his issue, and then I find the tacked on information about Rytlock being not-permenant. So don’t feel bad guys, it really could have been handled better.

I just wish ONE person who had this problem didn’t get it through a deletion accident. Because I honestly logged on with my first toon release night and only got one email with a hero’s band….and that was it….

Midnight Fire Dye

I was in chat the other night and noticed that someone was selling this dye as “black” and on my screen I could CLEARLY see it looked like a very dark red or red brown. Don’t know if this was a graphics issue or not, but I was surprised at the number of people who looked at the tool tip in chat and agreed it was black.

I too spec’d into Opening Strike, and I don’t ever see it proc. I open with slot 3 with my Longbow which I don’t remember atm but applies Vulnerability, and I only get the stack it applies and no other stack (from procs)….don’t know if this is working as intended or not

In my experience I get more gems from mining, and have on occasion gotten an unidentified dye while herbing (?) but I’m only currently using Lemon Bars as I’m lvl 30. I feel like I get more blood and claws from mobs I kill, but the increase in gems may just be my imagination…

I too have had this issue. And no disrespect intended, but why on earth would you code something that lost it’s personalization every time you changed it? That really seems wasted and nonsensical to me. I’m sure Anet has other folks who play Hunter/Ranger classes I can’t imagine this being what they intended with hunters being the way they are with their pets (i.e. attached). Hoping this is a glitch, even if you can only name the two swap-outs at a time

At this point they can’t even “roll back” characters for people who have had their accounts hacked to give them their gold/items/gems/armor back. And someone on this forum already submitted a ticket for “mis-clicking” and buying the wrong armor, and they said they couldn’t help him. So unfortunately it doesn’t really look like you’ll be getting that sword back. I know I’m not support, but perhaps that answer helps. Gaile / Support will have to make the final call.

In the mean time, perhaps you can find a similar model/skin on the Trading post now that it’s up and running. That’s the best solution that I can suggest.

I agree with Dead Parrot. Why on earth if they implemented the Character Name thing for GW1 did they not just throw that in for GW2? I’ve also wondered why popular games don’t use on screen keyboards (as some games do) to type in your login info to bypass the possibility for keyloggers. Seems like simple steps to security were overlooked or not implemented yet. But on that note, I’ve also played several games on release, and for serious, this is the absolute WORST case of hackers/spammers/gold sellers I’ve seen at a launch. I appreciate the feedback about this issue, and am glad the forums are finally up. But once again I would like to make CLEAR that I DID NOT delete my initial character on this account. My items were just never sent. I got one initial mail with the Hero’s band, (and subsequent Hero’s bands on each character created thereafter) but never received more than that. If that is not proof enough I’d like an explanation as to why my Summon Mistfire Wolf skill is still not available (greyed out) across ALL toons (7 to be exact) on this account. I believe the issue (at least in my case) is that for whatever reason, my digital items simply were not activated on my account.

Still enjoying the game while waiting for a resolution!

You don’t purchase the Summon Mistfire Wolf Elite skill, it’s a freebe with the upgraded editions. I have the same problem. Just hit 30 and the skill is greyed out. I have the CE and never got my other digital items either. My boyfriend has the DDE and even though he is not lvl 30, his Summon Mistfire Wolf skill is full color and unlocked, he’s just not big enough to equip it yet. I’m assuming at this point it’s a known issue. We just have to give it some time. Updates every night say they’re assisting 2,000 + players back into the game for various things (hacks, account/login issues, etc) we’ll get ours eventually

LOL! I have 7 characters, and nothing has ever shown up on any of them. I got nervous when during the last couple of stress tests, I saw tons of folks running around with their mini Rytlock, and I didn’t have mine…but I just kinda shrugged it off as….well…the game’s not released yet. Guess I was right to worry

I never got any of my CE edition items during headstart/release . I did not delete my primary character and accidentally lose the items, they just never showed up in my in game mail. After hitting 30 on my first toon the other day, my Summon Mistfire Wolf Skill is still greyed out, so obviously something is amiss. I have received a support email stating that I should watch the forums and that a solution is upcoming. I’m not in a huge hurry, but I did want to put this up incase others were having identical issues, and so perhaps the issue would be addressed under this thread.

Enjoying the game otherwise! Keep up the good work!
