If you do, throw/slipstream some USB3/XHCI drivers into the W7 installation if still going that route and not W10. Or you’ll need to use ps/2 ports when installing.

Google can tell you how to either do this with an oem tool or using dism.

You’re not only making the jump to a new CPU with skylake, you get roughly 30% faster RAM at default speed and a much better platform especially pci-e structure. It’s a no brainer when upgrading on mobo level today.

I got it on second try on my condi druid. Died first time due to not understanding the updrafts were actually updrafts ;p I’ll agree it’s a bit long, but was pretty good quest, very immersive compared to much else.

I just wanted to add to those struggling that the last 50% is the easiest by far. Especially if you have nice AoE.

Condi Druid worth a go?

As Ranger I went full zerk, fun style but a tad slow on the LB end. After turning druid and testing a lot of things out, a condi trap survival build is hellagood in PvE. I don’t PvP so no clue there. axe/torch and staff mainly for mobility or forced range. Swapping out traps with spirit and empowerment for group support when it seems natural to do so (enough people). Running SK,WS,DR spec.

But seriously, it turned the whole druid around for me. It’s very good in the HoT zone at least.

why no jumping puzzles?

Corvinus.8634

Pls no more extreme puzzle maps… I’m about to jump the train because of VB and AB hassle… friggin hate puzzles when the game becomes all about it. Only thing right now that keeps me playing is my joy for my druid. When I finally reach a HP or Mastery champion, nobody is there because of some event I can’t reach either. Soloed a few champs – and veterans at the same time, but some are plain too hard.

I’m just pushing through it, at the same time getting exp to progress the story.

Silverwastes was actually rather fun, but VB/AB where I’m currently at has me lookin that tired hulk face.

Most frustrating thing about HoT for me is “simply” navigating the maps. It’s a friggin maze, they should call this game Puzzle Wars. Mobs hurt at the very start, but adapted quickly and I don’t worry about them any more. Helps to get some experience with them.

The Best Class for Me?

I think rev could easily get competition from reaper and druids for solo survival. I also find druid to be a bit less button mashy than rev (if I want to utilize him fully). I don’t know about reaper since I don’t have one, but he gets recommended nonstop for solo dominance. If by dungeons you also mean fractals/raids you might want to take a look at metabattle for inspiration and rotations. Which is very subject to change, so might just wanna try stuff out and see what’s cool for you. If you purchased HoT and got an 80 boost, you can try all professions at 80 before making a choice, just without the elite specs.

You know you can boost all of them and try them at 80 right? Before making a final decision. You can run around in silverwastes with as many 80 you want before finalizing a boost, you just won’t have access to the elite spec.

Man I miss tanking

I’ve always hating tanking. Always. Tanking, to me, is the worst thing that’s happened to the MMO genre.

I mean the typical tank and spank scenario is you have a tank, who draws all the aggro and stands there, while being healed by a healer, while everyone else takes it down. What part of this is not completely contrived.

I’m sure Lord of the Rings would have been a much better book if Boromir stood there tanking while Gandalf healed him, and no one was actually in any danger.

Tanking is ludicrous. It’s a mechanic that should not even exist. Yes, it’s lovely to not be able to die. But you know, that sort of defeats the whole purpose of playing a game in which you can die.

It’s just a role. It’s the ultimate protector role. You keep your party safe, as long as you do that job right. boss + adds can be fun to manage, do it well and you save everyone. If they also do their role well. Your comment is ludicrous. There are many reasons holy trinity games have been as popular as they have, people being able to choose a role they want to play in what is advertised as a RPG game is one of them – obviously.

Doing that role well and being good at it, as well as continuing improving it with stats, gear, and further new content is of course rewarding.

Gotta say I love the #2 big bear animation of GS Nice burst too.

I’m more between if I should keep it ranger or throw Druid in there. Pros and cons both ways. Experimented with a trap condi build the other day that worked nicely. Currently running MS WS BM though as it has nice synergy for survival and I’m able to go zerk while pets tank. Very fun so far.

Guardian can tank very well in many instances, they’re just not allowed to because it’s on meta fotm. As for aggro holding, isn’t it just boosting protection stat?

A Guardian took over in a raid very successfully here the other day, but nobody wanted to speak about that… like it never was supposed to happen. It was like peoples brain threw a meta syntax error message.

Overall I’m with Gehenna on this one.

Funny though that this is one of the few MMOs where it’s OK to be a warrior or guardian and actually DPS only. That was always a complain in holy trinity games. “Oh why am I forced to tank!!” lol.

A consistent PVE main profession?

Corvinus.8634

Gotta say the first thing on my mind was Revenant. They’re wanted, good solo, and solid pace/flow. Rev seems to have generic meta – fits all sizes – herald/assassin that works well for all aspects. Easy to play but not for the lazy either.

Check this site out, it’s what dominates how you’re expected to play in fractals/raids in this game. http://metabattle.com/wiki/MetaBattle_Wiki

Metas changes over time, so it’s hard to follow that as well but can give some ideas of what you want to do and how broad every class is in opportunities. Best advice I ever could give is just try to choose something that’s conceptually fun as possible. We all got different playstyles, and what looks good in theory or paper doesn’t necessarily fit you until you’ve tried it.

Was suprised how simplistic it was coming from wow. It could be exciting there if you got it or not, depending on other players wanting the same or just mobs nearby or your ability to resist the animal attacking you as well while taming. A small “yes!” feeling afterwards. Pet system here is very static compared.

Was one of my favorite things actually, rare pet hunting.

Nice one. Block up, let them go to town, then whip it out and go to town when they’re all like “eehh.. my kittens are on cooldown just spent them!” I like the idea of A/S so cool to see it work so well.

Would it work alright with just exotics you think? I’m so new I haven’t even touched ascended yet.

… I’ve been kicked a couple of times by dead people because I was killing the boss by myself. Apparently, they thought I was taking too long.

Quite possibly the dumbest and funniest thing at the same time I’ve read on these forums until now if that’s true. I thought I had read it all.

Are you always expected to be Druid?

in Ranger

Corvinus.8634

Condi ranger should be perfectly fine in fractals, it’s solid respectable damage. People who want healing in fractals need to stop. It’s a crutch and it wasn’t there pre-HoT when fractals were more challenging, you don’t need it now.

The Meta ruins this though, and ruins classes. I hate being expected to heal.

What I personally dislike more is the thought that it’s not even consistent. Any big patch can overturn any expectation of how you should play, which can make it tiresome to force a new build with that in mind, moving perhaps wildly away from what you’re used to and fallen in love with conceptually. GW2 takes this to the extremes with exact weapon choice and build, what pet what buttons to push and what sunglasses to wear. Only the most elitist guilds do this in other MMOs whereas the middle ground is OK as long as you just know your class, play it well in your own style and know the events.

I think this is more of a problem for people wanting to play the game as an RPG and not just tactical, viewing your character purely as a toolbox or a deck of cards. Often to the “extremes” of having several characters (decks of cards) available for any need, not necessarily caring about what’s cool or any actual roleplay aspect, but just being effective. Some people manage to pull both things off, but it’s not a one-size-fits-all.

I’ve decided myself to just say kitten it and play my ranger as I want and if that becomes close to meta one day then great, until then I’ll have my own fun and don’t care too much about what others think, as long as the gameplay makes sense for me and I know I play something that fits my playstyle and works as well as it can for what it is and what ANet has provided me. Open world events keep me somewhat satisfied for now and I know that anything can happen.

Do it if it’s fun, try to make it fun by tweaking it a little, or do something else that’s fun until it may become fun. Can’t really do much else.

I’ve only been in the game a short time but it seems metabattle is seen as the holy bible, and thus the entry card into a lot of the group content. There’s a recommended A/T Condi build there, so can’t be that bad. Maybe mix it up with what you know works for you. This is how new metas are made. Don’t follow blindly what others think or say, it has to make sense for you or else the build won’t work optimally anyway.

I guess I consider normal players “leet-fed”… Good to know. I’m with Fluff. My cursor is lost in this mess of graphical non-sense most of the time. Which is also why I use snap-to-target fast-cast ground targeting on top of having everything keybound.

Being default on F5, I had not even had a chance to bind it yet before experimenting with how it actually works. I guess this makes me not normal… Good to know.

I just think that when a bug is reported like this, the answer shouldn’t be “so don’t click it then” but perhaps just support that there is a bug and leave it at that.

I got something out of this though, had not really noticed the snap function. Seems pretty nice. Thanks for the tip. First thing I think of is that CA3 should work nice with that.

People mouse click skills? I mean, I know I’ve seen the Devs do it on the official streams long ago, but I didn’t think normal players did.

Might come as a shock to people who get leet-fed that binding is the only way to go. However, if you’re used to microing both, it can work very well. Visual inspection of cooldowns instead of guessing forces your gaze to the bar area anyway. If you’re used to it your cursor should already be where you want it too. If you’re not used to it, that’s fine too. Personally I normally use a combo of both depending on number and speed need.

I just turned 80 at am at the process of learning to use a druid and this bug was a pain to deal with as I didn’t know if I were doing something wrong or not. Bound it now to ctrl+mouse4 and it works OK finally. Was about to just not bother with CA at all.
