There isn’t a best class so to speak, it’s really down to w/e you find most enjoyable. Everyone’s play-style is different.
Jade Quarry used to be a really active T1 server but because ArenaNet hasn’t done anything with WvW since even before you quit, a lot of the good/active guilds have stopped playing or have dwindled into nothing.
My quild honestly stopped playing once we noticed the PVE focused development trend so I am not quite sure how active Jade Quarry is anymore but Henge of Denravi, Sea of Sorrows, and Gates of Madness used to be up there quite a bit.
I think a lot of us are just now starting to speak up about our frustrations so I apologize if it comes off as blunt. We are just staved for WvW content and really hope ArenaNet can still deliver.

Aww thanks so much.
We can only hope that they are finally noticing how fed up we are with the lack of WvW content. Perhaps telling us that, “WvW updates are coming” earlier this year are finally coming back to haunt them.
The game was originally designed to allow people to play how they wanted to. What they didn’t tell us what that if you wanted to enjoy WvW, you would see very little in terms of content updates.
Here’s to hoping things will look up!

Yeah, on Jade Quarry we had a lot of really large guilds from the good old days of DAoC. The ones that still exist have dwindled quite a bit and some guilds have left entirely. That is not to say that the population has suffered, it’s that our hope for WvW has faded into oblivion.
WvW really needs to start experiencing monthly updates from a dedicated team otherwise the WvW playerbase is going to cease to exist.
We want to see it succeed, we want to see players quit w/e they are playing to enjoy WvW but at this moment, Anet’s constant promises mean nothing without discussions or previews.
I have only ever enjoyed PVE in raid form. Raids where a strong group of 20-40 people learn how to play together and communicate in a way that benefits all involed. End-game mass group content like the same exact dragon every 4 hours just doesn’t cut it.
At 100% world complete, doing anything in PVE is just repeating what you have already accomplished on your main to the point that making an ALT is just like going through the same content over again.
PVP however is much more involving as you know it’s a real player and real skill at hand. Fighting in a battle that is unpredictable is what maed WvW so much fun.
You’re absolutely right Avatar of Belle, the game is currently being marketed as a “Play how you want to but we are only making patches that contain PVE content with every patch”
If they want to please their WvW players, we need WvW content updates as well. Not just PVE all the time, especially not when it’s temporary.
I love the team, I love the graphics, I love the combat, I hate the lack of WvW content.
Well, they might be incapable of coming up with any new and unique ideas when it comes to WvW, so anything is better than nothing at this point.
Yeah, I stopped spending money in the gem store once I stopped seeing WvW updates.
The sad thing is that they have the talent and the creativity to create the most awesome WvW experience for people looking to experience the best thing RvR can offer, but nope. They could easily provide an experience that would pull people from other games since there is currently no real competition in this sector.
Guess we will have to wait for Camelot Unchained.

Do you know how to code cause I wager changes of this nature will be a huge timesink..
A huge timesink is paying developers to make temporary content and then purging it from the game a month later. Which is worse?
Yeah, the problem is that they keep saying just that and they have been for months. Since then we haven’t even seen a single snippet or even a few sentences or hints.
Yet, they keep wasting time pushing out temporary content that nobody is going to be able to experience a few months from now.
If I were actually into PVE, I would really disappointed to make an ALT and find that none of the content feels different or updated. They even talked about having “a live team that would add additional content to each zone so players could experience new things in each zone” but it was just that… just talk.
You can get supply from enemy dolyaks… its just random and you can’t go over 10 max (you get 5 supply if you are lucky when you kill a dolyak)
Not the same.
Hello ArenaNet,
I am the guild leader of a PVP focused guild called Illegitimus. Our sole reason for jumping into Guild Wars 2 was because we shared fond memories of PVP from other RvR titles and were really hopeful that a GW2 could recapture that same experience.
We all quit at roughly the same exact time 3 months after release.
Why? WvW lacks depth. WvW is nothing more than a large group running around for XP. It has effectively become what AV became in WoW; a quick way to earn XP and get on with your day.
We were following rumors that WvW would see a major overhaul in August and now that the latest patch notes are out, I have to wonder if the team still cares about providing a thorough WvW experience.
Can we please get an update on what the status is on future WvW content releases.
I can’t be the only person who doesn’t care for the living story, crafting content, dungeons, or PVP zones. We want WvW to be a commercial success, one that lures PVP players in from other games.
Commanders are horribly executed and practically worthless beyond just having an icon to follow around the map.
In short:
Our guild is still together but we aren’t interested in coming back until WvW sees some major overhaul. We’re not particularly interested in new maps or stronger siege weapons, we just want more depth and reasons for people to stay spread out.
In long:
We have talked about several ideas, although you might not ever choose to include any of them, I’m going to list them out as options that we would be interested in.
Allow players to steal supplies from enemy Dolyaks
This would encourage the team that holds the supply camp to actually protect the Dolyaks on their paths of travel. This could even have some sort of reward to the guild that has claimed that supply camp. This even persuades players to upgrade the supply caravans instead of just capping them and moving on to the nearby keep.
This would encourage the opposing team to use tactics such as diversions, distractions, and flanking maneuvers in hopes to steal as many (or as little) supplies from the caravan as possible before reaching the destination. By stealing supplies they hurt the enemy stonghold(s) directly and allow the robber a chance to bring some much desired resources to the nearest keep.
The Mechanics
-When players are running with the 10 supply that they stole from the Dolyaks, characters have a crate in hand, remain unable to attack enemies, and walk 10% slower. If they want to attack, they have to drop the crate first. This encourages bodygaurds for the ‘runners’ as they won’t get far without protection (Anyone here play Pirates vs Vikings vs Knights on Steam?… it’s kind of like that).
To prevent malicious players from immediately building something just to waste the resources once they have stolen supplies, the runners cannot use the 10 supply to build anything. It must make it to a keep.
EXAMPLE :
If a team of 5 run in and only 2 steal supplies, the other 3 would (ideally) protect them all the way back to base. This even adds a new risk : reward type scenario where that group of 5 could potentially get 50 supplies, if they are all confident in making the run with no protection all the way back to the nearest keep. The ‘runners’ should be rewarded somehow for bringing supplies to a keep or camp that needs it.
If the defending team kills a ‘runner’ they should get some sort of bonus for having to leave the Dolyak slightly more vulnerable during that period of time whilst chasing down the enemy. When the supply is dropped, it needs to be picked up a returned to the Dolyak, otherwise the Dolyak will remain lower on supplies by the time it gets to base. When the supply is dropped it can be picked back up again by a nearby teammate (Think Keg Brawl, I’ll let ArenaNet decide if players can pass the supplies around from player to player too )
I bring this suggestion mostly to spread things out more but I also think that there is a certain bit of excitement that everyone experiences when stealing from the enemy. It’s that, "I stole the flag!!! running!!! running!!! Protect me!!! " type feeling, that feels so good.
Give Guilds more incentive to stay and defend keeps
If Guilds stay to defend a capture point, they should have more things to build and receive buffs for defending that area. This will help to slowly break down chunks of each zerg as capture points are taken.
Allow players the ability to harvest materials to build an additional building(s) that allows for the construction of craftable WvW items. Add mines or nearby trees that contain resources for the crafting of WvW items that only certain bases have access to.
Add quests to gather armor and weapons for the Quaggans and take them into battle with you every hour or so.
Please think of the WvW players that are holding out for something more.
Best,
Creaky

Illegitimus [WUB]
Who we are:
We are a very small, mature, casual guild that consists of just friends and family and now we are looking to expand our ranks.
We have many years of MMO experience and have spent many years playing various games together.
Our guild has been around since BETA and we know WvW quite well but most of our guild has yet to step foot into a dungeon. Many of our members have been on hiatus and that is why we are seeking new members.
We have a website and a mumble server.
When we aren’t playing Guild Wars 2, we are always playing other games, mostly FPS.
Requirements
Any level
Any class
18+
A twisted sense of humor.
Our Website

Thank you,
Creaky
P.S. After monthly donations (not required), we have a raffle to upgrade computer hardware within the guild.
I too hope that they will rework some things in WvW, or spice it up a bit. I love the WvW concept but it has grown stale since I have been playing in WvW since BETA.
This game really is tailored for casual players and for people who have a life outside of gaming. It works for me at this point in my life, since I have two jobs and go to school but when I am finished with school next year it would be nice to have more “hardcore” stuff to do.
However, I feel that there is plenty of content to keep hardcore players players online for 4-6 hours everyday. If users don’t like the content that is available to them, then that is more of a personal problem.
In GW2 there is no raid content that requires your dedication twice a week, there are just dungeons that can be repeated over and over. If you’re looking for a “hardcore” experience, there isn’t much to be found outside of WvW and getting really good at PVP.
That is the current design of GW2.
Maybe someday they will find a way to make the game more appealing to the hardcore users as well but for now that’s not the case.
I’m sure the invite process will go live later today. The announcement will be made on Facebook for sure.
I’m sure there is a perfectly logical explanation for this violation of the entire Guild Wars 2 principle.
Please ArenaNet, explain yourselves.
Are you trying to imply this game is in any way difficult?
Nope, I am simply implying that people are asking for everything to be handed to them like that ‘one other game that just recently came out from the competition’. WoW is So easy that people are quitting because the handouts have made the game no longer rewarding.
I prefer the current design of difficulty and rewards.
Having a lot of fun with this update, thank you ANET
People just seriously need to stop asking for handouts, this isn’t easy-land, this is GW2. I spent $20 and I happened to get a sword skin. If I didn’t get it, bummer, I have a $20 GW2 quota for the month.
You people need to stop complaining, they said “rare”… not “free rare item with every $20 invested”
Thanks guys.
@Slaven
Badges or Influence. would work fine.
@Dragoon
Please don’t post your own ideas in others suggestion threads. Not cool.
@Maddeth
Killing them would still be an option but then the supplies would be lost. It would be nice to have an alternative way to play so that stealing the supplies can be used to benefit your team.
@frederion
Thank you.

So apparently there is some sort of cap on the amount of mail you can have in your inbox. I deleted a bunch of her inbox mail to the point that the Pigeons started to drop off mail again. One by one all of the mail that was sent to my wifes account over the last few days started coming through again.
Please feel free to elaborate upon this idea, I will do my best to make as much sense of it with as little words as possible.
__________________________________________________________________
I personally feel that there should be some sort of incentive to spread things out a little bit more in WvWvW, to promote smaller groups of say 5,10 or even 15 players. Not everyone is in a large guild nor does everyone enjoy a sea full of spells, 100 people thick. I believe that as long as there is a reward and it can be made interesting, people will certainly enjoy it. Adding diversity to WvWvW only gives players more strategic options as well.
Here is the suggestion
-Allow players to steal supplies from enemy Dolyaks.
This would encourage the team that holds the supply camp to actually protect the Dolyaks on their paths of travel. This could even have some sort of reward to the guild that has claimed that supply camp. I hope to see some player feedback, for better or for worse.
Thanks again.
I run the game at 2880×1800 on my 15" Macbook Pro Retina(i7 @ 2.6GHz) using a Windows 7 bootcamp install so I can confirm that it is supported.
That’s my portable machine.

Oh wow, I’m so glad I found this thread. I will have to try this on my wife’s account.
This same exact Mail issue just started happening to my wife’s account about 3 or 4 days ago. Everyone in the guild sent her a bunch of cooking materials and she didn’t receive any of it, she was pretty bummed about that. She also purchased some Black Lion keys and never got them.
When the servers come back up I will have to try this out.
I’ll report back with my findings.
I get this and I have been getting this since launch. Just restart your computer and it will work fine again.
It bothers me immensely that AFK players are taking up spots in the non-overflow servers by going AFK. Their selfishness only prevents people from getting in WvWvW and actually contributing the the success of the server.
Kick the AFKers or send them to overflow.
You guys both have rigs that are more than capable of maxing everything out.
My system runs max everything like butter on a single display.
Liquid cooled i7-2600k @ 5.0GHz with a 6950 flashed to a 6970 and overclocked to 950/1450. I get 40fps at 5940×1080 (Eyefinity) with high settings (not maxed)
Actually, it appears that LG has two different versions of that panel. There is a version with 1680×1050 (effectively 960p) resolution and there is a version with 1366 × 768 resolution (effectively 720p). It is not a 1080p capable television.
It’s going to look fuzzy because the pixels aren’t in a 1 to 1 ratio with the resolution when set to 1920×1080.
Right click on your desktop and go to “Screen Resolution” and click on your 26LG30R display. Then use the slider to set the resolution to 1680×1050 or 1366 × 768. (whatever the max is for that display). Sometime the max will stretch outside those ‘bounds’ so only select one of resolutions I have listed. If you keep the game on this 26LG30R, the game needs to match the resolution as well or it will look fuzzy. The dot pitch is rather large for an LCD display so be sure to turn on FXAA to help reduce ‘jaggies’.
Also, to help reduce ‘font blur’, click on the start button in the bottom left and type in “Text” and you should see an option called “Adjust CleartType text”. Select the 26LG30R display and choose which options look the most clear to you. This should help a little bit as well. (consider it a slight display calibration)
Best of luck.
(edited by Creaky.8596)
Since last nights patch the game crashed for the very first time in the hour that I played it before going to bed at 2am.
It could very well be patch related but I have yet to confirm it.
I might be familiar with this issue as a few users over at Xtremesystems have reported similar issues with high-end Asus Motherboards.
I have a high end Asus Motherboard myself and I have experienced this issue twice personally in the past (not recently and not exclusive to GW2). It usually happens when I plug in my iPhone charging cable so let’s try a few things:
Unplug all USB devices. Plug in only the mouse and keyboard.
If this doesn’t fix the issue move the mouse and keyboard to different USB ports on the back of the motherboard.
If this still doesn’t fix the issue, do a quick Asus BIOS update using the Asus ai suite that came with your motherboard. The last update that I performed on my Maximus iv gene-z/gen3 specifically mentioned this issue in the bios update notes.
Best of luck.
Invite them over to your house to play.
At this time there is no way to try before buying. This prevents gold farmers and sellers from polluting the game.
Leroythered and Tavril are correct.
A Q9300 (£209.98) , Q9450 (£295.98) or a Q9550 (£329.98) will fit in that socket but keep in mind that the cost is much higher than buying a brand new processor that would run circles around them for less.
If you buy a new Intel motherboard (socket 1155, ~£70-£150.00) , processor (i5-2500k (£166.97) or i7-2600k (£230.30) and ram (~£50.00 to £99.00) you will get a much better bang for your buck and a system that will last you for years to come.
You could also go with an AMD setup but in benchmarks AMD’s performance in GW2 is rather meh. A super cheap Intel i3 is better than most processors from AMD. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/guild-wars-2-performance-benchmark,3268-7.html
Best of luck.
(edited by Creaky.8596)
Descadent is correct.
In the meantime you can use your second display for internet searches if you need help or have in-game questions.
To make that transition even more smooth, set the game to Windowed mode and set the audio option to work even when the game is ‘in the background’. This is how most players use two screens.
Feel free to put your voip server over there too.
Congrats on having twice the screen real-estate.
They are fixing it. Hang in there.
Hello Pandabot,
You might be able to turn on Windowed mode and shrink the gameplay window to a resolution that offers better performance. As of right now there is no command line to adjust the screen resolution http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Command_line_arguments
As much as lowering the resolution can help improve frame-rates, most integrated video cards are incapable of playing Guild Wars 2 and do not meet the minimum requirement. This is not only because of graphics cards like the HD3000 gpu, but also because of the lower clock speed that comes in most laptops that use the integrated video cards. Something like a little 2.0GHz Intel t4200 just won’t cut it.
When you decide to upgrade your laptop in the future, please be sure to look for something in the $800+ range. Typically these laptop computers will have an i5 and a dedicated video card. Use this list to help you out. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?hl=en_US&hl=en_US&key=0As6JzAgBwEesdHlTdk90MjltaURaTGdLdHAwQktkbkE&single=true&gid=0&output=html
Best of luck.
Here you go Soulrez. This seems pretty accurate so far. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?hl=en_US&hl=en_US&key=0As6JzAgBwEesdHlTdk90MjltaURaTGdLdHAwQktkbkE&single=true&gid=0&output=html
It’s not exclusive to WvWvW and it requires a game restart to fix it.

The Q6600’s are starting to get long in the tooth. This seems more like a processing limit than anything, other people with older rigs are experiencing the same issues so hopefully I can help more than just you.
Try overlocking the Q6600 to 3.0-3.4GHZ and see if that makes a difference. My wifes Q9550 lags a little bit at stock clocks but runs much better at 3.6GHz.
Google “How to overclock Q6600” if you don’t know how to, and make sure that you have a capable motherboard.
If your motherboard has no overclocking settings then turn off reflections and shaders to get the biggest performance buffs.
I had this issue. I found a way to fix it. Let me know if it works for you.
I turned off application profiles and set my graphics drivers to DEFAULT settings. Then the game worked fine. It was an issue with the graphics control panel trying to force Sample rates and Anti-Aliasing.
Turn down reflections and shaders. Those provide the biggest detriment to performance in WvWvW.

Please try to explain the issues you are having and I will do my best to help. Your card works fine with this game as there are many people playing Guild Wars 2 just fine on 6850’s
Please be sure to install the newest drivers (12.8) and set all CCC options to default.
If your graphics card is currently being overclocked with a utility such as EVGA precision, Saphire Trixx, or MSI afterburner, please set the settings to default and try again.
