you Never be able to solo a dungeon, game auto adjust your level remember? even you actual level 80 doing lvl 35 dungeon, you still need group,,,to do it.

what you trait first? what weapon u are using lvl up? Do you upgrade your gear? If find hard to alive, use staff as main,,, trait Illusions and Chaos first, let you clone(staff 3)attack first, use signet that boost clones’s health and feedback at lower lvl should help, with range attacks, staff(2) teleport, do not shatter your clones untile you certain that mob will die after shatter. Mesmer may dps lower than other class but shouldn’t die a lot or find hard to survive.

personally think tough and Vit are required in dungeon, epecially when you need some Vit so that u do not die too fast with conditions on you. If you have a steady team member doing dungeon(known each other stats and play style), you can replace some tough and VIt with other DPS stats. But if you just do pick random group and do random dungeon, I prefer tough and Vit more, because you never know what group you will get and sometime you can see your teammates just down and down during boss fight,lol.

lvl80 Dungeon build. need some advice

Personally do not shatter Phantasms in dungeon that much except there are minor mobs need to aoe down. Staff is good to use in dungeon(2 is good break stun and knock down and 5 is good for group buff). secondary weapon is personal preference. If you just start dungeon, suggest more defensive build(toughness and Vit) to learn the boss fight. skills personally use null field to remove conditions and decoy to drop aggro(break stun and knock down), feed back to reflect arrows back , signet of Inspiration(random buff still helps to survive). And also as a mesmer(ranged), I not often take heavy direct damage like melee classes, I prefer more health and toughness when melee down and need revive. Anyway all personal experience,,,hope help

Scepter is pretty useless, imo, especially in dungeons. You usually want that extra 300 range on Staff/GS and you can get it on offhand weapons making you have to go forward for an auto attack which destroys your phantasm army that you build. Might as well just go sword for 3s of invuln if you need to dodge something.

Scepter auto attack no longer destroys phantasm any more

Best build for FOTM/AC Exp for Mesmer?

I’m a newly 80 and I’m so excited! Finally can be in tons of FOTM and AC Exp runs my guild host daily! When I set foot inside AC exp mode———died….died——-more deaths! The conditions were eating me up in my full shatter DPS build! Especially, the lack of movement with torch made me lack behind my entire party. I was dying more than a lvl 37 guildies in our party, so embarrassed. I guess I could expect no less from a full glass cannon build but I was hardly doing any damage to the bosses as my damage ranged from 300-400 per shatter burst T^T My equipment is 20/20/0/0/30 full Beserker gear from armor to accessories, with major rune of centaur. Keep in mind, this is my PvE gear, how I grind to lvl 80 primary through events and hearts. Now I want to be a dungeon master. I really don’t care about sPvP and WvW atm.

Please, to all the Mesmer elite players, share your wisdom on how to do dungeon farming effectively with high survival-ability and “possible” medium to high DPS?

I am running AC exp now too for weapons, my gearis power+Tou+vat (AC Armor Set ) trinket mixed with conditional damage(green) , use main staff, scepter focus,
0/0/25/25/20, pretty defensive, skills null field, feed back( Decoy) and signet of inspirition, very hard to die in AC or CM EXP, have not done other dungeons yet.
If you can stand up during fight, means more dps too.
I use staff and sword_pistol for group PVP, “different skill set”, but same trait 0/0/25/25/20 . I found out I am pretty hard to kill even encounter with 3 opponents players(never died in pvp group fight), and rank 1 after whole pvp fight in map in my team, pretty fun, tanky!

Only for PVE, I recently gave up the sword and pistol and switch to scepter+ focus
which I think has more defensive skills( focus can reflect arrows back with trait) I run main staff, second scepter+focus,
0/0/25/25/20, very hard to die in dungeon run, pretty tanky, lol

I am planning to have 2 superior rune of monk and 2 superior rune of water together

Question is " is that +15% boon duration from each rune benefits stack"?

Is it a good choice to use mix runes?

Strongly agree, that is the part killing me. Personal opions only, I do not feel mantra benefits are great(cast, recharge by youself<i can not remember to recharge it> lol

Why doesn't decoy work sometime ?

hmm, I do not think it happened to me, decoy does work. But sometime you just click that skill and then somehow you autoattack still go out, it breaks stealth. Another case I think it is when you deal with a mob that do a swipe base attack, you deocy, mob area attack,,it may break you stealth. So not sure what is your situation, but decoy does work due to my AC run last night.

Focus wanted for speed buff... but gs/staff

I do not really feel that speed buff is very important at lower level. I use main staff(chao storm has speed buff) scepter+focus(speed buff) . Signet of inspiration(random speed buff) should give you quite enough speed buff. (I do not think I need to run in high speed all time in game), I am a GS hater,lol

Hey, i like this idea,lol. Reduce the CD of summons(built in) and have additional trait benefit with that trait.

“Warden’s Feedback " Focus skills reflect projectiles. Reduces recharge of focus skills by 20%.
And "Illusionists Celerity " Illusion-summoning skills recharge 20% faster.
Do both trait work together reduce “Phantasmal Warden” 40% CD?

Because looks like < “Chaotic Dampening” Reduces recharge of staff skills by 20% and
“Illusionists Celerity " Illusion-summoning skills recharge 20% faster> reduce 40% CD on Warlock.

but it seems only affect the Temporal Curtain CD, but not the Phantasmal Warden cd.

Leveling as Mesmer - a horrible experience

Mesmer is not that hard to level up, I am a lazy guy so I just use staff all alone when I lvl up. Do not see any problem, even encounter with multiple mobs, still doing fine. I have to admit Mesmer may not hit mobs directly hard like other classes, but Mesmer is more fun to play. About phantasm health, I using 1 trait that increase phantasm 20% life and there is a signet of illusions to boost phantasm health too. Usually phantasm can hold about 2-3 hits at least (not including boss).
