Can we discuss things on this forum or do we need to post elsewhere?

It seems that most posts in this sub-forum get locked after one response from the moderator, more or less negating the purpose of a forum format.

Can you please list the rules for what is a valid post here?

I had mentioned that the main game client’s ‘forgot your password’ link appears to be broken as it redirects from a reset-password link to https://account.guildwars2.com/disabled — (a placeholder page?)

The fact that some things are currently broken related to account issues — those are the kind of things I like to see in a forum labeled Account Issues.

I submitted a ticket and received a response (which was timely, thank you) stating that password resets can’t be sent out if we just have our account name, account email, name of characters and a working account to this forum.

To quote from support:

“We understand that you need help to reset the password but sadly we were not able to locate your information in the system, please provide us with all the information you can. " — which, if you bought it from Target retail, apparently is the serial number.

If you will need to keep that number for the duration of your account — and can’t rely on your existing account credentials whatsoever — I think it would be nice to see that noted or at least perma-linked on the forums.

On the plus side, my browser cached my serial number (in the auto-complete) from my original registration process… so I restored my account using a browser hack.

It was just overall a frustrating experience and a disheartening set of response from Anet.

Why is the password reset process SO painful?

So, I came home to find a crying child locked out of the GW client. For any other game, for practically any other online service, I could just request a password reset link be sent to my email. But not this one.

Cookies enable me to log into the forums — but, to change my password — from within these forums, I need to know the old password (which is apparently not being accepted). There’s no method to simply request a new one UNLESS one kept the serial — which I didn’t keep — and they never emailed to me upon registration (which would’ve been nice).

Clicking the ‘forgot your password’ link on the game client takes me to:
https://account.guildwars2.com/disabled

Which shows only the words:
Not Available.

It’s as if they’re trying to anger their customers to the point they quit (in order to reduce bandwidth bills…..?)

It’s simply so unfriendly, I’m somewhat aghast. Even companies that deal in real money (Paypal, my bank, etc.) have simpler and easier processes in place. If I had, God forbid, included the phone activation as well, it would probably involve negotiating between Sprint and Korea to get this resolved.

So now I get to wait to see if they’ve been able to improve their support process in the slightest… But other forum posts have left me with little hope.

ANet has always pushed players to be competitively better…. which is why I don’t understand why they penalize the best players (not me!) for tearing their dungeons up.
What’s the possible motivation? Is it a desperate attempt to hold together the artificial economy — otherwise it just looks spiteful and anathema to everything I thought this game was about…

Pine is not a hard wood

This one broke immersion for me too actually… I mean pines are nearly the definition of SOFT WOOD. It’s just a jarringly strange choice. They could’ve easily just made up a tree type and been done with it….
