Phantasmal Swordsman: This skill now performs a sword strike in front of the player when summoning the phantasm. If the sword strike hits, you and all Swordsmen currently summoned, gain 8 might for 10 seconds.

This patch note literally (no joking) made me hit my forehead on my desk (yes it still hurts a bit), because every single decent Mesmer knows this! Phantasms inherit the Mesmer’s main stats, wich includes Power. Therefore all Phantasms are completly unaffected by Might!

If you wanna check, visit the Test Kitty Golem, add all buffs and you’ll see they will crit between 9-9.5k regardless of the Might they have. You can even stack 25 stacks Might with CS and SoE – still 9-9.5k.

You can also do the same with 0 stacks Might on yourself and your phantasms, then let someone stack Might on the phantasms but not you. Regardless of the Phantasms Might, they will always deal the same amount of damage.

(Don’t get confused as you recieve the 8 stacks Might aswell if you do it on your own, so it looks like they get stronger by theirs but actually they don’t.)


Dear ANet, please change the skill effect from Might to a unique buff that increases outgoing damage for you and your swordsmen by ~10% instead. In case you didn’t knew – phantasms do get affected by modifiers placed on themselves. °3°

I find it strange that some classes have access to a 25% passive speed increase, whilst others don’t.

Elementalist, Necromancer, Thief and Ranger have a 25% speed increase signet. Of those signets, one has a useful active (Thief).

Yea you got no idea there. The elementalist speed signet is significantly a LOT BETTER than the thief on the activation (blind versus blind and stunbreak and damage not even a comparison) so please try to at least get your facts straight before posting anything

Actually, I have both classes at 80, and the signets are similar enough not to warrant a mention. So please take your patronising attitude elsewhere, thanks.

Granted, the damage alone is not all that important. But the fact that one signet breaks stun and the other does not in a CC-heavy game is a very important difference.

I’ll go ahead and play this game. The “screenshot” you’ve provided while “awesome”, doesn’t discount the fact that no one in this screenshot has been actioned. You are posting on the forums, which is a clear indication that you are not banned. None of the people in this party chat are banned. So while the “Legit” is being put into say (according to this screenshot), no action was taken against anyone here.

I know you wanted to post a screenshot of an account being banned, but you are posting a screenshot from the launcher back in 2012. We are on build 38057 not 15377.

My guess is that the GM was putting into question the validity of the tactic being used, but did not action as there was nothing against the rules.

I’ll go ahead and supply the screenshot that the GM took in context of this text. GM Stuffs and Character Name of person in question are blurred (sorry!)

This topic always brings out the anti-mount crowd, and they never, ever, have a logical reason as to why it’s a bad thing. Their only major reason, is because, there is waypoints.

In fact, it’s only logical to use mounts to unlock the waypoints, especially for new characters. Which is more tedious? Summoning a mount, or clicking a Swiftness Skill countless times, every 10 seconds? ..or swicthing out warhorns for Swiftness Boons.. or swicthing out traits for Swiftness enhancements? Don’t even bring up convenience, since that argument falls flat every time. Or, perhaps, it’s more immersive to see zergs with 50+ people using Swiftness Boons running from champ to champ.. lol..

We don’t need logical reasons. We don’t need any reasons other than " We don’t Like them."

We are not the ones asking Anet to use up resources to add something unnecessary, just because some people think " it would be cool, and I want it."

See the only reasons pro-mount peopl have are.

1. It would be cool. ( no, it really wouldn’t.)
2. I want it. ( Play a game that has mounts then.)

So the pro-mount people since they are wanting the developers to spend resources, that could be spent elsewhere more effectively, and for better value..( balancing skills), need to provide better reasons.

We that don’t want to have mounts only need to provide one.

1. We don’t want them, because we don’t want them.

This is a topic that I’ve been debating with myself whether to open or not for the longest time. I feel that it’s important to bring this up because it strikes at the heart of one of the flaws of GW2’s product life cycle – project management. But for those that will TL;DR, the basic argument is this:
Balance is about iteration, and Arenanet is not iterating fast enough
Fundamental profession, PvP, PvE and WvW bugs and problems remain unaddressed in lieu of fortnightly content updates

I will touch on a few key points:

  1. A preamble
  2. Some problems remain unfixed
  3. New content is pushed in lieu of iteration and polish
  4. Community perception of paralysis and disconnect
  5. Community frustration and responses
  6. What can be done to address the issue

I was finally pushed to make this topic when I saw Cameron Dunn’s GDC lecture discussing Guild Wars 2’s server infrastructure – and what is possible using Guild Wars 2’s Duo system to iterate on the game. Click the quick-link to the “Iterate” bookmark or skip to 35:47 timestamp if you don’t want to spare the 45 minutes to learn about Arenanet’s amazing infrastructure and their metrics that they like to talk about. This thread is also instructive and discusses why more frequent iteration is essential for balance

I want to bring this up because the game is now well over a year past its launch. Despite teething problems, GW2’s launch was one of the smoothest I have ever played through and it is a great game at heart. The trouble is, well over a year past its launch, some of its teething problems are still writ large. Despite fortnightly Living Story releases to support the game, fundamental profession issues and bugs remain unfixed; while community response to Feature patches that include sweeping Balance Changes has not been actioned for months – often until the next Feature patch.

This is a bad trend and it needs to stop.

Arenanet has coded this groundbreaking infrastructure and it is being squandered on providing temporary content instead of fixing and polishing and iterating on their game. This kind of project management has lead to dozens of threads of negativity and more than a few veteran players quitting the game. In some cases, whole teams. Team Paradigm (recently started playing again), Absolute Legends (disbanded), Made in Meta, to name just a few.

Preamble over. Onto persistent problems and QoL issues that remain unaddressed.

On the various forums one can find dozens of threads, often pertaining to – and addressing and re-addressing – the same issues, over and over. This is a problem, because it leads to a community perception of paralysis, which causes:

  1. A perception of neglect
  2. Accumulation of negative PR
  3. A perception of broken promises

As an example, here are a few outstanding issues on PvP:
Leaderboards and/or leagues. Leaderboards were released somewhat buggy, whilst promises for Ladders and Leagues stretch back a few years

  • Matchmaking remains hit-and-miss for some. 4V5 and being teamed together with new players has been a source for considerable angst.

Not even your own – I would like to see a personalised ‘combo’ menu where we can rearrange the priority order of fields on an individual character basis.
This would do things like create “water field blaster” groups, “might field blaster” groups and so on in WvW.

But yes, combo fields need work.

I’ve lost count of times where someone ruins my combos because they dropped another combo field on top of mine. I suggest that combo fields that I drop have higher priority over ally combo fields when I am the one executing the blast finisher.

I do not see any drawbacks to this suggestion.

I am sick of asuras.
I am sick of standing in a circle.
But most of all I am sick of Anet’s lack of care and attention for PvP. Always talking, always discussing, always planning, always having things on the radar… but (almost) never doing anything.
These big patches better be something spectacular beacuse I am so sick of everything…

Greetings

I will tell you about my weekend. I was off at Reset and when i came in at Saturday morning i saw that GH overrun the whole maps with a Guild consisting of 5 people. 3 of em where afk, 1 played with dolls under a bridge and the last one conquered the whole map with the sheer amount of his godlike power of mobility.
After a short while playing and been kitten from every gh (gangbang) and their dogs i decided to let em have wvwvw for their own. Lets see if a barren wvwvw area will bore them so much that they do sepuku.

I decided to level a alt this week and Ignore the Borderlands; from others i know they do the same. Have fun GH and i hope you encounter a server with more “mobility” and “coordination” (translated: players)

RoF needs more WvW guilds for 9-5GMT shift

So as the title suggests RoF is desperate for some more WvW focused guilds to join us. We already have a few hard-core well set up guilds in the form of ICON, HxH and a few others (apologise as I’m not 100% on abbreviations so don’t want to get them wrong). We have an alliances TS server set up that is used constantly whilst were online. We feel (ICON) that our only down fall and reason for being low in the rankings is lack of numbers 24/7. Last week and this week when we actually have the numbers online (icons mainly active from around 8pm GMT to 4am GMT) we stand up well and actually have some fantastic battles with the servers. And I’m sure Whiteside Dazagor and Underworld would all agree with this. That being said once we log off the numbers just aren’t great enough to contend with the other servers and the points start to drop and the lead extends. So to summarise we need an influx of some hard-core WvW guild to help us maintain the gain and organisation we’ve started. There’s very little queue even during peak times on any of the BL’s and we already have some nice organisation set up. For anyone interested please contact Hawkeii in game (ICON leader and RoF’s most known commander).

NP’s number one Mesmer (sorry mal youll always be number 2) ;)
