Showing Posts For Dash.9340:
No idea how to create a new page for the new item to link to.
It’s easy to create a page. Type the page name into the search bar, and click Go. If there is no article with that name, there will be a line that says " Create the page “[what you typed]” on this wiki! " Click that link to create the page.
Note that the wiki has pretty firm guidelines for what should and shoudn’t have an article. But every now and then you might find an NPC, item, or object that doesn’t have one yet. If you do, feel free to create the article! Other editors will join in and improve it further.
I considered to contribute to some wiki articles before, however i hesitated because of the simple lack of ‘visible’ appreciation for the effort you have to put in. The wiki is taken for granted (wich isn’t manatory a bad thing), but as someone whose biggest motivator is the appreciaton of others, the wiki is not very appealing.
Still – the simple 2g offer from Dash, accompanied with the simplest kind of appreciation: ‘I see what you did there!’ is enough for me to give it another try.
This kind of thing motivates me too. I look over every edit and type out a reply to every contributor. Though many of the things I have to say end up being similar, no cut-and-pasting is involved in these responses.
I absolutely love Dash’s idea – maybe one could expand the idea to a broader spectrum of articles and wikis (maybe with ‘official support’?)
If you have the funds and the time for it, I strongly encourage you to consider starting something like this for the German wiki. It’s a great feeling to see so many dozens of articles improved and even more created for the first time.
Guess the offer is only for the english wiki?!
Sorry, but yes. I verify every contribution, but I can’t do that in languages that I can’t read.
You don’t have to actually ‘edit’ the page. You can leave information for the article in the ‘leave article feedback’ tab. That probably counts for the offer.
I’d accept this. But still, nobody needs to be afraid to edit articles! If you have accurate info that isn’t listed, just click [edit] and add it. You can have your best guess at the formatting and let someone else fix it up if it wasn’t perfect. There are many experienced editors that would have no problem correcting your formatting, but they can’t do that without the information on the page.
If you’d like to help out the wiki for a few extra gold, I’m hosting an ongoing improvement project.
Check out On Wiki of Gold, where articles are regularly selected for improvement. One article has information missing or could use general improvement, and the other article doesn’t exist at all! Make an edit that contributes to either of the two selected pages. Then enter your name on the On Wiki of Gold page, and I’ll send a couple of gold your way.
Everyone is welcome to participate, whether you’ve previously made zero edits or 100,000 edits. Try to copy the style of other articles. This list of formatting guides is also helpful. If you’re just starting out and you mess up really badly, I have the pages on my watchlist and will be able to fix or undo mistakes using the page’s history, so don’t let fear hold you back.
The Guild Wars 2 wiki is an amazing resource with a ton of helpful information. In a game that is frequently growing and changing, there’s always something that needs updating.
Feel free to comment here on what other articles you think should be focused for improvement in future weeks.
A few notes from a player who has all of these decorations:
- The Square Planter and Empty Square Planter are not square, but are instead both shaped like a quarter circle.
- The Lit Wagon has lamps, but these are only lit during the day.
- “Vale Guardian Pieces” should be “Vale Guardian Piece”, as the decoration is only a single piece.
- I feel that the Maguuma Lily (Double Bloom) and the Maguuma Lily (Triple Bloom) had their models accidentally swapped before release. The Double Bloom version is taller and generally more impressive.
- The Basic Tree and Basic Shrub share models with the Potted Tree and Potted Shrub respectively. Some trees look weird in pots, so it would be nice if the Basic Tree got an adjusted potless model.
- The Festival Tents and Balloons should be in the Festivals category, not the Other category.
- PvP Trophies should all be in the same category, not split between the Trophy and Other categories.
- In my opinion, Hedges should be in the Plants category with the topiary, not in Architecture.
Wishlist: - Using the Gift of Music for the Uzolan’s Mechanical Orchestra decoration was inspired, and I would love to see more decorations use Gifts that require dungeon tokens. It would be cool to see an asset from each dungeon be repurposed into a decoration that required a Gift of Knowledge, a Gift of Thorns, or a Gift of the Sanctuary, etc.
- If we could tilt decorations to make them lean or lie flat, much like can be done in ANet’s map design toolset, that would make decoration much more flexible. I’m not sure how technically feasible this is, though.
- Thank you for the Basic Signpost!
I like tables, especially the data kind , but today I bring you the guild decoration kind of table.
Video catalog of 313 guild decorations
Each decoration is shown for three seconds at a consistent distance with a waypoint for scale. You can use these establishing shots to compare sizes between decorations. A second shot shows a close-up of the decoration for another three seconds. Occasionally, a third shot is included to show the other side of the decoration or to demonstrate how it looks at night.
Use these direct links to skip to specific decoration categories in the video:
Here’s what is not included in this video:
- Most silver world boss trophies, all gold world boss trophies, and most gold raid boss trophies . These are made from tokens which drop either infrequently or weekly. You can see an example of each gold trophy decoration by looking at the boss chest after defeating the associated boss.
- PvP trophies, but I’ve uploaded screenshots of all but the Platinum one to the wiki . I seek confirmation that the Season 2 and Season 3 trophies look identical to the Season 1 trophies.
- Master Brewer’s Keg, which will be possible to obtain in December
- Gilded Banner, which has no known method of crafting
It’s my hope that guilds will be able to use this video as a resource to assist their choices as they make beautiful creations in their guild halls. And guild halls are a machinima studio just waiting to happen!
If you have a guild that hasn’t done much or anything with decorations, can I suggest adjusting your member rank permissions so that everyone has Decorator, Use Placeables (to make decorations from other decorations), and Edit Assembly Queue (to cook decorations)? I’ve visited many guild halls, and most have the Decorator permission limited to the leader, who doesn’t use it. When people have the ability to use decorations, they become a lot more interested in them, and that’s a lot more fun.

can’t we have both tbh?
Give ascended armor a double option skin?
why not just let us choose in game which version we want. whether male or female.
Having a male/female version toggle for armors when applicable would be a wonderful thing imo.
Not sure if it’s at all possible… but since it’s legendary armor… can a toggle be added that’ll let the player choose?
Instead of getting rid of one style completely and making a big group of people upset, why not have both? Having an option to dress your character with either style or to pick a certain recipe that contains a certain style would be appreciated by all players.
Make the male version default, with the female version of the skin unlocked as an alternative, like the recent Cavalier weapon skins also unlocking Guild Cavalier weapon skins. Everybody wins, and no art assets are wasted.
I updated the original post to include a recording!
“Fear Not This Night” is the iconic ending theme of Guild Wars 2. With the recent introduction of precursor crafting, I thought I’d update the lyrics to better reflect the legendary challenges faced by today’s players.

Fear not Twilight:
There is now another way.
When prices fall,
Slightly less you will pay.
Unlock all the collections,
Do a world boss train and you’ll see.
You’ve lit up some little squares.
These are your first steps to the pre.
Fractals and some old events
Help your scavenging progress steadily.
Then open the Trading Post
And see that we all want…
Soft Wood and Deldrimor…
Crafting for Nevermore.
Fear not Twilight:
It will be yours someday.
It’s a great sword,
And with Dusk, you’re halfway.
And you can always respawn.
Tell the map with the first sight of Dawn.
Dawn’s just a heartbeat away.
H.O.P.E.‘s just a Sunrise away.
Combine your new precursor,
Mystic Clovers, and Bloodstone Shard.
Runestones, gifts, and ecto forged
With the trophies and lumberyard.
Tier 3 Astralaria
Gently grieving in captive misery.
Farm a stack of Ley Line Sparks
And your H.O.P.E. is now charged up.
Striving for Eternity…
So incrementally!
Fear not Twilight,
Unless you’re Free-to-Play.
See those footfalls
And the star overlay.
And you can learn from the Norns.
Just as long as you bought Heart of Thorns.
Dawn’s just a spreadsheet away.
H.O.P.E.’s just a Sunrise away.

Due to the new scribal salvaging use for dyes, these are in greater demand, and the potential for players to request dyes that they don’t need has risen greatly. I will be taking down this post, but thank you for the great response you’ve given it!
The dye distribution will continue, but I will send out them out directly to people I meet in-game.

Fjoldar, you’re after masterwork dyes but I am only offering fine dyes. I wish you luck in your search for these.

Great suggestions, Iris! I love the screenshots.
Having multiple colours in the same hue can really make some nice combinations like these, which makes complementing the 21 starter dyes even more desirable.

Update for latecomers: Please note that this offer is now closed. I distributed thousands of dyes to hundreds of players. Paid and Free players alike, seek out more dyes for your collections! Everybody can buy Unidentified Dye from the Trading Post, and Paid accounts can buy the individual colours. It’s really nice having many options.

there is already a PvP/WvW monthly category for players that wish to play that style of play. Can’t we add more PvE things to this and remove all the PVP/WVW content from the regualr monthly?
The PvP daily and monthly achievements are for sPvP only. sPvP is very different to WvW, the latter having always counted for PvE, including events, variety, ambient kills, et cetera. WvW is also required to get all PvE map completion, and you use your PvE level and equipment. Also, it is only one option category in this April’s monthly.
I have a question for you guys – did you move your gw2 folder?
This is happening to me, and I did indeed move my GW2 folder to a different drive.
just go to your documents folder and search for " guild wars 2 " .
open and you can see " local.dat " file .
copy and paste it there , delete the original and rename the copy to match the original’s name .
I tried both copying and renaming it as you suggest, and also just deleting it for it to be recreated. The issue remains.
