having extra 100 or 200 power wont suddenly make you hit like a beast. If you feel there is nothing wrong with your build then it is great. I just dont think that most of the ppl realize how powerfull evasive arcana really is. Especially with the energy + vigor.

Evasive arcana is almost the best trait in game. Both design wise and profession wise. That trait is so usefull that there is literally nothing better for eles, but in the meanwhile the use of that trait forces active play instead of passive so it is not one of those empty stat boosters or passive procs that anet tends to throw out to others. IF you as ele think that EA is useless it only means that you havent learned to utilize it yet.

The problem is that there is zero communication. It is ok to delay stuff, but it is not ok to not communicate. Pratically the only communication from anet is blatant hype that is ment to keep the weakminded in order.

So when is the build? Is it that hard to answer? There is no logic in a company with such shady policies. Again you are acting like entitled children by boasting about how great your own internal version is. Can’t you understand how annoying that is for the players that have to endure through the endless pve updates and 0 changes to obvious issues in pvp. Please start treating your customers as one and you will see some happy feedback.

It is funny that ppl complain about skilllag when they cause it by themselves. If ppl stopped running the zone blobs and instead split off then the amount of ppl in one spot spamming one would be drastically reduced wich would lead to the game engine and servers being able to handle the load. Instead of complaining about the lag the community could do something to fight it. But I know it wont happen since the typical players seem to all be about loot and fun. And when they die they blame the other team on zerging. Ofcourse when they are winning it is all about mad skills and siege placement.

@ Joonks. How is your post not entitled? You are basically saying that everyone is wrong on critiqueing and there is nothing wrong with the game. And that it is ok to take 9 months for small balance tweaks. Also you might agree that it is ok to hold those double standards in communication like they are doing?

the reason they dont make money is their own. The only real moneytizing they planned for pvp was to sell tickets for tournaments that rarely had the same 8 teams participating. Needlessly say that it failed quite bad.

So instead you would enjoy playing against empty zones and karma training everything like a boss? The last weeks against piken etc. have been a good thing only minus is the players forcing the megazergs to destroy anets gw1 engine and rip every piece of enjoyability out of wvw.

If the devs were aware of things they wouldn’t talk about random pve stuff nor would they use the show that was ment for pvp things, to discuss some random video of random dev being finished by a ram. None wants to hear "oh guys we will be able to talk about the awesome things in March that we already talked about in January and were too lazy to implement.

Would it be possible to gain full intended balance patch notes here, so that we the players could provide some feedback?

Also it would be awesome to know when we could expect those changes to come live. Just asking this since I know for a fact that the players that are providing you with feedback in your internal testing cant be very great. Especially if you still have the same testers as you had with the dhuumfire patch. It would also be fair an open towards the community that you gave them some interesting information and engaged in proper balance discussion on your own forums. There literally is no negative outcome for you to release us proper intended notes and timeframes when you plan to implement the changes. Then if you have to postpone, you could just say that “sorry guys we had to postpone this patch for production reasons” or whatever.

Just a simple friendly tought and maybe an advice aswell. This would go well in line with our cdi movement recently

Be honest, why does it take so long for quite simple fixes and balance tweaks to be rolled out? Why isnt there a PTS for players to test and you to gain proper feedback on the changes. This game feels like it is being run by a bunch of random kids that change stuff around for themselves and then brag about it on the stream how something is happening in the internal clients. It is really frustrating to be witnessing this kind of willingness not to develop your own product.

Mods will probably remove this is like they do with all the other critique, since that seems to be the way of Anet. I just dont understand why your system has to be so clumsy, I bet that the balance changes you are about to do / thinking about take like 25 mins max to actually implement on the live client but for some magical reason you have decided that there cant be balancing while there is pve patches. Or that you cant do balance patch now because you are doing some bug fixes and tooltip changes.

Btw it has been almost 6 months since you showed some sneakpeaks on new pvp maps and gamemodes related to them. What happened to those?

So if the devs play and enjoy the pvp part so much, then why does it take 5 months to do minor balance changes? Meanwhile pumping out boring pve content every 2 weeks? Why did you market this game as a pvp game if you never intended on truly supporting the pvp aspect?

Also why is the production value of your readyupshow on a lvl of 15 year old kids producing seriously in a schoolplay?

This game is enjoyable to play but super boring in the long run. And it seems that devs arent really doing anything to change it. Or maybe they are but the results just arent there.

Seeing that there are no real pvp guilds in the test, I wont be surprised if the new map is full of awesome jumping puzzles and pve things. After all it seems to be the only thing Anet is able to deliver.

Based on the posts in this thread the guilds chosen seem to be only eager at streaming and getting “popular”. Most ppl that have reported getting in are just scrubs and will most likely provide anet with the exact feedback anet wants ( rather than giving honest and truthful feedback). Thats what I ment.

1. Punish zerging and reward/ make it easier to organise coordinated guildgroups. ( proper raid ui, and closed groups)

For me this game isnt about just doing zones. It was supposed to be about PVP, but it seems like that it turned around to just farming mobs.

You really need to be extremely engaged with the world, if you are thinking that the new events every two weeks are anything more than another champ grind for better lewts or more currency.

The original question was really concerning the systems behind this game. It is clear that this company but alot of effort into making a system that allows easy / fast content and event adding in terms of “living world”. But when it comes to creating / managing similiar systems in pvp the effort just seems to not be there. Surely you threw a fix for culling. but what about the skilllag? The unability to use your skills in anything other than spamming one. And no it is not because of my rig, it is the fault of server hardware and most likely cant be fixed.

So perhaps the solution then could lie in creating systems and mechanics that would actually punish the zerg play in a way that it would just not be wise to run in a 80 man blob. Iam sure a professional game developer could figure out something different than slapping in a buff with awesome capture circles, and then creates lagg when the server keeps checking and checking for the buff.

This whole rant really started from the post of a dev saying that adding a pause function into your “competetive gamemode” would be extremely diffucult.

Why do you create games of this size and then make it seemingly impossible to edit or add functions into it? The pause thing is just one example. The amount of time it took for simple leaderboards to appear also reflects that there most be something fundamentally wrong in the background. And still you keep pushing and pushing this game

I would also really like know why you marketed your game for pvp, but than decided to not really moneytize your pvp content in anyway? Since that obviously led the company to shift more and more resources to the pve side, because that is the thing bringing money into anets pockets.

PS. Please comment this with comments OMG you are such a bad player. They are really relevant and on the ball.

not really. wvw is unplayable if the whole zone is in one keep / objective. And spvp is crucial since this game was marketed as a Competetive PVP game

Question stands in the tittle. I just dont get it. When you started working at a game there sure was hype and talk about esports and massive wvw battles. Now as a defining point for both you need few things:

For wvw:

1. The game has to be able to handle most of the ppl in one map actually fighting over one objective

2. It is crucial that you can see all the enemies you are fighting

3. Actual fighting is more interesting than flipping empty camps

4. Being able to punish larger forces as a small group should be encouraged?

For SPVP

1. Ability to make a custom arena. ( like we have after 9 months from release, but still with lacking options and commands. And it took alot of resources)

2. Being able to watch a replay of set game ( not present)

3. Having a functional automated tournament or matchmaking system with understandable and easy to use / read leaderboards.

That is just a few pointers. Iam sure quite many ppl can find more things. Obviously it is not easy to develop a game from ground up. But you need to identify the important points before you start programming and coding your game. You really cant plant a swimming pool on the top of a skyscraper unless you have planned for it from the beginning ( or if you are a sheik with limitless resources)

PVE:
As a last question: Could the ppl on anet watch their “manifesto” again and tell the ppl on forums: How is this game’s pve not about “swinging your sword” over and over again?
( like Paul Barnet saying: there will not be a healer going i heal and i heal again / facepalm)

From a player point of view it feels like there really is only 2 devs working on balance changes. Iam not stating it is how it is, but that is how it feels. And the reason could very well be up higher in their management system and resource placement, perhaps they choose to spend the time in a different manner, or perhaps there is a hidden test server for few and selected where ppl spend their time.

Hello I play in a guild that roams around in wvw almost everyday with 15-20 players. And I am quite frustrated / scared after reading your new wvw blog and here are some reason:

This game has lots of things in its combat that are great and done properly. I really like the combofield system and the coordination and dicipline needed to have right fields blasted inorder to gain x buffs. This makes combat fun and exiciting. Also the fact that tight movement is required when fighting against bigger groups makes the game fun and challenging at times.

But when I read your blog wich basically said that, you want to create new siegeweapons to combat big zergs, it really made me facepalm. Sitting in a siegeweapons and spamming 1 or 2 abilites is the most dull and boring gameplay possible.

What I suggest is creating new conds or perhaps armors that are only available through combofield play or some other variants that actually reward a semi co-ordinated play. Also revamp the profession skills to be more usefull in wvw and most important of them all: Look for ways to perhaps increasing the AOE cap.

As a player in a mid sized guild and also occasional spvp player I want to use my class abilities while playing the game. I dont want to hop into a mystical megacannon that shoots chickens when I press a button and destroys the whole enemy zerg. No that gets boring. What doesnt get boring is using skills and group play to overcome bigger or similiar sized organised forces. I want you to look into ways of rewarding the organized group play. Be it making a better ui for groups. Having a raid ui and closed partys etc. But dont just be lazy and create a new siege weapon. Ty.

Post disagreeing comments and whine. I apologize if someone hurt their feelings. Iam a foreigner so my written english is not the best and it usually comes out to be aggressive even tough I dont intend it to be.

Simple reason: None wants these traps. Instead what ppl want is a test server and clear / functional ques + Stable gameplay without skill lag and means for few players to kill many, so that the endless zerg trains might end.

I for one DO NOT WANT ANYMORE UNIVERSAL HANDHOLDING THINGS like “traps” or siege weapons. Please start working on making the profession more impactful especially rangers. Also Start finding a way to increase the aoe cap on skills, and make zerging less viable. Why is it that everything has to be made into a handholding game these days? Please devs your players are not little childeren lost in the my pony land. We want to play a game where mistakes matters and where small numbers can punish mindless zergs.

Second thing: Fix the ques. Give estimated time for players to see how long the que is. Nothing is more frustrating than getting into que and having no idea how long it is. Take a leap of faith and play your own game please. / end of rant.

To be completely honest, Nothing really changes after the patch. The only risk of putting up boons is that a necro might convert them into conditions, or perhaps the pesky thief might try to steal them. But from the warrior point of view it is just pointless to pick up the “boon hate” trait.

I dont know know who or what tested it and ended up in a decission that it was a good choise to implement that kind of boring dmg increase trait on game, and even as a grandmaster trait. I just dont get it, why cant Anet understand the need for interesting and meaningful traits. Even the suggested boon removing/destroying would be extremely better.

But no. Please. I ask from the ppl in charge of balancing please look at the classes in an objective manner. Look at the traits, and ask yourselves: Are these traits really interesting and exiciting enough? And second question you should ask is: Could we do this any better?

And while you are at it, hop into europe and try do some tournies solojoin or with team, and see what happens.

So, You created a system where it is ok to leave the soloque matches and griev your own team to hell, with basically 0 punishment. Seriously anet? Have you not played any pvp mmos in the last 20 years? PPl will rage and griev and leave if they are loosing and wont be punished. Please create proper systems or hire ppl that have a reasonable idea of whats going to happen. Or even play your own game. One good idea would also be if you listened to the mass of ppl playing spvp, instead of the few top guys farming in their happy teams.

RS won the last matchup so get the facts straight.

Stepping into the trollmine here so bare with me everyone reading and facepalming.

Mr Daniel and everyone else who thinks their server is best and greatest because of the scores should consider the following wich is especially true in this matchup on the past week.

Generally the fighting style of riverside is as follows: Run around in a borderland in a group that consist of everyone currently on a border. Only attack if victory seems certain and otherwise run to nearest fortified keep. Never fight on open ground because thats where they loose.

After saying that the best fights have been against the massive hordes of riverside usually just before going to bed 00.00 – 01 am gmt +2 . Holding the serverwide cowardzergs before having to logg off, only to see that during the nights everything gets taken with 0 opposition and thusway generating amount of pointlead that is not able to be catched.

Now note that iam not complaining about night capping because it is fine. What annoys me is that there are these arrogant campaigners that think their server to be superior when infact they get rolled by proper guilds while confronting them. Sure you can massively outnumber and sometimes win proper guilds by surrounding / massing them, wich is fine btw. But atleast have the ability to look at your doings objectively and see whats happening.

LAST NOTE: The point system means nothing. It only measures wich server has the greatest average coverage and knows the basics of defending / attacking. Wich in a nutshell is building as many arrowcarts / rams / catas / golems as possible and nuking the ******** out of everything.

Suggestion: make something that measures killing opponents or improve the point system in away that awards points for kills, but still preventing the warcamp farm for points.

ps. perhaps it was riverside that “won” but you sure as **** donated a ton af lootbags while winning
