some of it is just luck of the draw.
My laptop is a five year old ACER which was very cheap. Been amazing although its not great for modern games it will still run gw2.
Ill stick to my PC for gaming tho
I took my time with my guardian to 80 but with my warrior I went pretty quick in 56 hours. I didnt realise the time as it seemed to go so fast. Without afking and other random idle time it was probably around 50 hours.
I just raced through areas complete heart/dynamic events wherever possible
Some people say go to areas 2 levels above you to get better bonus exp from mobs but I found the mobs take so much longer to kill it just didnt seem worth it so stuck to my level or lower.
crafting is insane too so grab a booster or two to get easy levels.
Ill take my time again on next alt
Im interested in this too.
had my MF set a few days now and notice no difference with 140%+ MF!!
Feel like I havent wasted my time. It actually feels like I have been getting less drops when farming fine crafting mats!
Ive heard pretty good things about asus and because they rebrand their own version of nvidia GPUs they use them in their laptops too so their prices are pretty decent.
Depending on your budget/graphic requirements I would go with a 670m graphics card the run gw2 really well.
Lower cards will still run fine but you will have to reduce settings (not worth it imo)
I leveled a guardian to 80 then rolled warrior after a dungeon or two. He is also now 80.
From my experience guardian will get a lot of aggro (due to the class mechanic) and therefore you must build them with a reasonably high amount of defence. Then I found my damage was poo so i ended up going to an altruistic healing/support build. This was great for support but I just couldnt really see the impact I was having on the team because its subtle shields, heals etc The team just stays alive for longer.
With warrior I have found he can stay alive for a while due to high health pool and deals a lot of damage. spec warhorn and use shouts for support too.
So basically guardian if you wanna purely support people and warrior for damage+support.
my 2 cents on pve
I had the same thing happen . I put four random lvl 80 greens in and forged to receive nothing back!
If it would of been higher value items I would be very disappointed
Anyone know if this is true?
Someone in CS was saying that if you group up you either get more drops.
Im not saying rarer drops but more drops drom kills.
“In PvP dual axes is not viable. It does not have as much mobility and evasion as GS…”
False. GS has one serious damage skill that roots you. If you miss, you need Whirlwind evasion because you have nothing left for the next 5 seconds and you’re about to get owned. Axes give you much more consistent damage output, allowing you maintain constant pressure and giving you the option to be mobile the entire time. Combine that with the various knockdowns and roots in your utility skills and you’ve got more than enough options to be entirely viable. And you don’t have to spec glass-cannon to be effective like you do if you want your Hundred Blades to not feel like being slapped with a wet noodle.
I like the idea of consistency from axes. If you miss that hundred blades its a bit of a killer and the GS whirlwind move I find really horrible to use.
I think im going to try dual axe and swap in WH occassionally for extra support. Ill trait for off/def
urgh. Such a tough choice. I was going to mystic forge a decent weapon but I dont wanna waste mats on something I dont end up using!
I was thinking toughness/vit trinkets with power / prec gear?
Ive just hit 80 and starting to look at gear to aim for before i start dungeons runs.
I want to focus on dps in pve and im wondering if dual axe is viable with a rifle or whether I should stick to GS.
Any opinions would be helpful
_How come?
Im planning on going GS + rifle with some def in traits_
Twas a joke based on your name…
Thought you pulled it from PSO….

Oh my bad. Hard day at work so I didnt get it!
Yes it was from PSO . amazing game.
I just hit 80 and was thinking of going for this!
Shouldn’t you be using a one-handed sword and shield?
>_>

I have another 80 and re rolled lol
I just hit 80 and was thinking of going for this!
only hav around 15g though so may take some saving!
I have enough to make the Naegling though so may just go for that.
Any pics with it on your back? In hand? etc
thanks
great stuff thanks mate. Gonna check this out tonight.
and also I dont see how this could be bannable as I have friends that use Nagas and they have a tonne of buttons that can be assigned. This is just like that really.

Hey warriors
Got my guardian to 80 and while looking at gear I realised I didnt like it. Strange I know but I just want a face melter with some team buffs nut sacrifice my fun to be the human sacrifice for my team. I just couldnt find my place as guardian and everything i tried felt awkward
Anyway my warrior is 44 now and ive been levelling double axes with signets but im starting to think about some dungeons runs. After reading the forum it seems yojacks build is pretty popular. I just had a couple of questions.
which is more viable for dungeons? axe/axe or gs? I was planning on adding a flag and some buffs while stacking a mix of power/prec/vit/tough.
Also would you recommend I stock to axe/axe while levelling or is there a better alternative? Ive played with gs, hammer etc but a/a seems to do most damage i think.
any advise appreciated
I got one killed yesterday.
He was hanging around a farm in gandarren fields moving a small amount every so often then spamming one and repeating.
Led some mobs into him to test if he would heal. Sure enough he died!
There must be some morons buying the gold otherwise they wouldnt be operating.
Easier said that done but if people dont buy it they wont bother farming/spamming chat/mail with their ****
I was level 80 for 10 minutes on my guardian then rolled a warrior lol. Level 41 atm.
After years of playing the tank/dps/healer type pve I just couldnt get used to guardian support. It just felt like I was doing a bit of each and I just have to see big numbers! Be it heals or dps!
Liking warrior simplicity so far so looking forward to running some dungeons as dps with some toughness/vit and buffs for my team
guardians have crit procs that cause condition damage as well as a few aoe burns
warriors also have crit bleed procs.
Another stat would prob be better though I guess
followed the guide on here and took me just over an hour to get 1-400 and gained 10 levels.
Kira’s suggestion is better if you would rather save gold though
I would defiantly go for a 670m
This would run all modern games really well
There is only really the story that matters while leveling. The leveling process is often frustrating with the amount of bugs about.
The dungeons are not worth doing as the entertainment value is ok but you lose gold if you die (more likely with pugs) and get marginal experience compared to exploring hearts etc. Not to mention the abysmal loot.
End game content is nice for doing challenging tasks with friends and aiming for certain gear for stats or visuals.
ah good to know. I thought it worked for me before but maybe that was my faulty memory.
thanks
Im sure when the BLTC was opened you could preview items. This doesnt seem possible any more and is really bugging me!
Surely people want to see what something looks like before buying?
Going to gw2db is a rubbish alternative!
that build sounds really good Schakal
I think thats the route I want to be going down so im going to try that out. Seems to have a nice mix of healing, support and dps.
Having played all the other MMOs for a few years (wow, rift etc) I think im still struggling with the “no role” concept.
Just need to finish work so I can re-trait!

Yes thats why I a in a predicament. I dont want to waste my gold. Im considering bailing on my guardian and levelling my 52 engineer as its more fun to play.
I like the GS playstyle but it doesnt really seem viable as I always get focussed so think tanky is the way!
Hello fellow Guardians!
I dinged 80 last night.
My first though was to replace bits of my level 70-75 gear that I had and my weapons. It then struck me that I dont know what I want to get because after 80 levels I still havent found that sweet spot of builds that I really enjoyed.
I levelled purely stacking toughness and vitality intially. I play a lot with friends so the plan was to be tanky dps but of course I did next to no damage and still too a lot.
I then went greatsword which was amazing for levelling but then in dungeons I would get destroyed as quick as my Necro pal (he has less defence by a tonne more health).
and for the last ten levels I used a build I found after research with a sword/shield , scepter/focus but the dps is not great, I cant take a reasonable amount of damage and my support/heals seem pretty bad.
Now im not sure if its just because its easier noticing white damage as a dpser than boons on allies but any advice on a fun build?
Has anyone been in the same position?
I guess early stages of the market and the late release of it play a big part.
I have a lot of mats saved for my crafting skills (currently both around 290) but think I might just TP everything as doesnt seem worth levelling them atm.
To be fair although I only have around 3/4 gold I have never needed any more than that. I expected that to change when I hit 80 tonight! lol
You say you have made over 200g but without exploiting I dont get how?!
I was trying to be clever and buy cheap iron ore to make into steel and sell for more. Worked out I would still make a profit even after selling fee but didnt realise there was an initial fee too so that has killed that!
The only viable way seems to be selling crafting mats since everything craftable is worth less than the mats.
world TP and no gathering skills mean there is no demand for anything but crafting mats…
im not 80 yet so maybe im missing something with the legendary mat and the mystic forge
oh man. I thought you still got decent amount the first run?
thanks for that. Dungeons def not worth it until 80 then. Hearts for me! lol
Hi All
Just did Sorrows Embrace for the first time and got 12k experience at level 73?!
Is this right?
My first dungeon of the day so it cant be DR from dungeon farming.
Im fine with the aiming but PLEASE make the grenades a toggle. I gave up my engineer because grenade/bombs is the only decent dps and spamming “1” was killing me
I like the idea of the scepter because melee range is a **** in dungeons. At least thats what I have found so far.
Just need work to finish so I can go try this!
Im going to focus fully on a pve orientated playstyle…
This seems good. Im going to give it a try.
My guardian is 72 now and have been lost with him in dungeons as dps greatsword. He seems to go down super quick even with some vit and toughness.
tanky , supporty for me now.
I generally have the same pattern for fight multiple mobs;
- I judges intevention into a target (straight to it if mobs are grouped otherwise i pull a few first. if they are mid range use blinding blade to pull a load in to you.)
- then symbol of wrath for retaliation
- then purging flames for the aoe extra burn
- then it depends on if your hp is high or low at this point as you can use your heal/renewed focus or whirling blades. Most times I can use whirling blades unless its really big pull (6-8+) when I will try heal then whirling blades.
This really takes groups down fast! Once or twice I have been downed but I come back almost instantly thanks to the burn damage finishing people off.
As far as spec and stats I go for a real mixture of power/precision/cond damage/vitality . You want some vitality/toughness just to keep hp up and not get insta-nuked. Cond dmg is obviously important so stack plenty of that. Precision and power just helps the size of the hit/crit and how often it occurs so both are useful.
I spec mainly in zeal and radiance but vitues should work too. I am throwing the rest in honor currently but valor is pretty decent too.
traits skills i would go for are the improved greatsword damage, increased damage vs burning foes. blind exposure works great with your skill 4 too.
