Low FPS on powerful PC

Hello,

for a while I’ve been saving to buy a new, powerful PC to play Guild Wars 2 specifically.

And I did! But, I found myself dissapointed with the overrall performance of Guild Wars 2 specifically in my PC. Any other recent game that I pick up and install in my new hardware runs smoothly at or above 60 FPS with maxed out settings — BUT Guild Wars 2.

In almost every map my FPS constantly drop below 60, and in some cases it even drops as low as below 20 FPS. Needless to say, ’tis a huge kitten killer.

Can anyone lend me a hand, or some insight about it? Here are my PC specs:

i7-4790 @ 3.6GHz
Kingston 8,00 GB RAM with 1333 frequency
Asus GTX 970 4GB at 256-bit
Asus B85M-E Motherboard

I run Guild Wars 2 with every other program in my computer closed and at the following specs:

Resolution: 1920×1080
Frame Limiter: 60
Refresh rate: Default
Animation: High
Antialiasing: SMAA High
Enviroment: High
LOD Distance: High
Reflections: All
Textures: High
Render Sampling: Native
Shadows: High
Shaders: High
Postprocessing: High
Character Model Limit: lowest
Character model quality: low
Checkboxes checked: Ambient Occlusion, Depth Blur, Effect LOD, Light Adaptation, vertical Sync

Are those gonna get released in Anet’s Soundcloud anytime soon?

The track that plays during the first time you step into the Vale Guardian’s fight is particularly awesome, it’s just too bad that it never plays again after the first wipe.

OP, you’re justifying your frustration from getting massacrated in the Raid in writing down lines of extremely exaggerated hyperbole(yes screw redundancy), and ultimately wanting to stick the final nail in the coffin by saying you’re gonna “speak with your wallet”

— But wait, you already bought HoT, with your wallet. Ops!

The game has been out for three. Whole. Years. And for those three years those who have been absolutely /craving/ for genuinely challenging PvE-wise content have finally gotten their wish, and you’re complaining for not being part of that demographic. Talk about blatant hypocrisy and sheer need to throw a tantrums in the forums with your patronizing speech of “THE GAME’S CHANGED WTH ANET”.

Everything changes, some things require change more than others. If it weren’t for HoT’s new mastery system, map metas(that actually make people want to DO the map events, unlike Southsun Cove) and now the only actual HARD & CORE PvE content in Gw2, the game would suffer from stagnation. And ultimately die out.

So to ensure the kitten game would survive, Anet opted to change their directions with Raids, in comparison to how they started the game.

Also: You have the rest of the whole freaking game to play, and you’re leaving the game for a piece of content that was NEVER meant for the demographic you’re in; the casual playerbase.

“Gorsh this insignificantly small piece of content in comparison to the 99% remaining game is 2 hard, game isn’t 4 me anet hates their players game sux.”

Hypocrisy was strong with the OP.

Since the game released he’s been sitting next to the dungeon vendors staring at his feet for almost 2 years now. It’d be really REALLY great if Anet could get him involved with the current story somehow, since he’s so experienced in Indiana Jones’ business the maguuma wastes/jungle would be the perfect place for him and his talents I think. I really loved the Guild Wars books, Ghost of Ascalon in particular. It’s a shame that he and the many other already existing characters are being left aside as the story progresses.

Everyone hated Liadri

I liked Liadri. I liked her a lot., does that mean I’m not everyone? And I remember you posting in the Queen’s Jubilee section of the forums about boycotting Liadri and some other nonsense like making the next pavillion underwater. Hah imagine that.

Here it is: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/lwd/Boycott-Liadri

Mr. Shpongle, leave the forums every once in a while and stop holding grudges against content that you can easily chose to not play.

:-}

Remember, Liadri was horrible

Alright.

- Horrible lag and FPS drops
Agreed on this one, I think they should’ve made the gauntlet section of the pavillion another public instance mostly due of the zergs rampaging below(instanception?).

- Red grated floor hiding the red AoE circles
I think the new AoE circle color they used in the latest living story updates would be a good solution for this one.

- Horrible camera angle and a boxed arena
Honestly that only takes some getting used to. But I agree that the game’s camera does not work too well on cramped spaces.

- Bugged orbs that could not be range attacked and could instant kill you
The orbs would only pull you, not 1 hit KO. And honestly I think Anet did the thing about ranged attacks not working on purpose. Who knows?

- Useless pick up item system
It’s not useless if it works. However there were some situations that made me believe that the pick up system needed some adjustments, maybe it’s because of the fps lag or latency issues. Who knows right?

- Instant death attacks
Hey as long as you can dodge/block them I don’t see the issue.

- A queue
Really?

My bottom line here is that the fight itself wasn’t horrible, it was just some game mechanics that didn’t go in well terms with it, maybe that’s the result of Anet only taking 2 days to develop the entire gauntlet.

9/10 Her eyes disturb me greatly… I like how she merges with the sky in the third picture, shiny…

Here’s my warrior. I went for a more visceral color scheme, kind of going for white that had blood spilled on it. Which matches her character’s profile that I’ve written. :P

With that I went for the flaming weapons to match how unforgiving the dream has been to her.

yeah its free…but im not gonna play it if it sucks

you can get expired food for free…are you going to eat it?

… If you’re not going to play if it “sucks”. Then why… In kitten are you complaining? Seriously some forum users complain and moan way too much just for the sake of complaining. Good grief.

-End to Scarlet.
-Focus the storyline back to the Elder Dragons.
-Like people were saying, mature content would fit perfectly in this new scenario.

Question about Scarlet's final showdown Song.

A question of mine came out unanswered during the livestream so I came here to ask: Will we have a new score made specifically for the final showdown with Scarlet?
Since she’s the main antagonist at the moment and her story arc ends soon my curiosity has been poking at this question for a long time now.

So yeah, I was wondering if I could get an answer concearning that.

Possible solution for turret griefing

in Tequatl Rising

Make it so that the individual using the turret gets kicked out of it after 15 seconds without attacking Tequatl with the 2 ability. Just saying, it may not be the ideal solution but it might be a start.
Share your thoughts.

Edit: Oh, and the person that got kicked gets a buff that prevents him from using the turrets for an amount of time. Say, 5 minutes?

They should make it so that you get kicked out of the turret if you don’t press the 2 ability WITH Teq targetted. Just saying :p

Hide in the corner with 4 friends?! What the kitten? Is this now a condescending joke that people are inferior in comparison to you because they like to do dungeons with their groups of friends and have a good time and you don’t?

You’re part of the problem of community segregation in MMOs for that kind of ignorance that you just displayed in your last post that was basically: Your opinion is kitten, mine’s better.

Oh, so now it’s just because you don’t have a thick enough skin to deal with puggies when running dungeons you’re just gonna take it for granted and generalize everyone that likes something that resembles a challenge in a game that they have kittenloads of fun with the combat system?

And even so why’d you ask for an event tied especifically for dungeons? You even said it yourself that you didn’t want the armor tokens and in your first post you clearly stated that these events would award dungeon tokens? Your logic for this is flawed. If you want another world event at least try coming up with something more rational than an excuse for why you don’t like dungeons and why everything should be paved in gold just because it’s what you want.

If you’ll refuse to grow a thicker skin to deal with pug groups, then don’t run dungeons. Simple as that, stick with he world events that you praise so much.

Where “List of accomplishments” consists of running around like an idiot with the zerg from a red circle to another while pressing 1 to get credit for the champions. Aside from the Temple of Balthazar chain event, which ins’t rocket science to pull off really you just have to keep the npcs from exploding, even if there were any I don’t think the idea of “complicated events” could be applied to 50 random strangers in a zerg. And Scarlet’s invasions were repetitive, boring as kitten grindfests. Hell, at least in Arah or Fractals you have to pay attention to what you’re kittening doing and adapt to the gimicks of the dungeon doing unless you want to spend the next 4 hours running around in circles like an idiot while progressing at the speed of pancakes.

And I like how you’ve pointed out that dungeons and Fractals were made to “Keep the WoW maniacs happy” instantly invalidating your whole kittening argument.

“Oh I dun like DUNGUNS like other people and I don’t wanna work to get the tokens. HMM, oh right I’ll just throw the whole concept of earning the rights of having DUNGEON gear out the window and make it so it’s acessible for people like me that don’t even want to lift a finger for it.”

Opinion Regarding Music

Yeah I’m with you there man.
Jeremy Soule really is a great composer however I kind of felt dissapointed with the soundtrack. Since to put it bluntly, it feels that I’m listening to the same track over and over regardless of the area I’m in. For example in Crucible of Eternity I’m listening to the same tracks that I’d listen in Gendarren Fields and it simply breaks the atmosphere of this really high tech asuran lab.

If it was an, for example, techno/trance track that matches the darkness and coldness of the asuran/Inquest technology and experiments. I think the dungeon would have more powerfull impact in terms of atmosphere and of the theme that it’s trying to set up.

But that’s just me :P

Oh, and I think this song here fits just right with the scenery you’ve just shown

LLook dude I’m sorry if you don’t have the time or availability to complete ALL of the living story content because, ONCE IN FOREVER Anet decides to toss something that comes CLOSE to an actual challange into the game and it’s tied to the LS patch. Is the Liadri fight flawed with rushed decisions and gimmicks? Yes, the shape of the arena adds artificial difficulty because of the camera going batkitten insane, the MASSIVE fps drop from low end computers, the undeniable annoyance of having to hoof ALL the way up back to the gauntlet because of the lack of players around.

But it’s not impossible, and it was Anet’s DESIGN decision to make it so that not everyone was able to complete. But HOH, since something OPTIONAL is difficult to achieve because of real life factors and the fact that I’m more of a casual playe we have to light up our torches and sharppen our pitch forks and criticise Anet for not making EVERYTHING available for the casual section of the community!

KITTENWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASTES.

Buddy don’t take this the wrong way. I understand people have their real lives to attend to and all. But stating that “the X content has to be casual” has got to be the most selfish and KITTEN agonizing factor that plagues modern day game developers from being able to fully express their competence in game development.

AND GUESS WHAT? JUST BECAUSE YOU WAN’T SOMETHING IT DOESN’T MEAN THAT YOU WILL ALWAYS GET IT.

I managed to beat Liadri with my favorite class, the Engineer. It took me about 200 tries, when it came to me: “This build and strategy isn’t working”, then I’ve started noticing patterns in her behavious and mechacnics. From there came the real feeling of accomplishment. “Yes, you did it. Have this mini now so that you can always remember that you did that.”

I had to change build 3 times to find the one that fitted the fight best.
You know that if she get’s close to you, she’ll apply conditions that hinder your movement and damage. What’s the solution to that? Condition removal and discovering the pattern of her AOE’s so that you can create a rotation that envolves kiting, managing your dodges and when to remove the conditions applied to you.

Critical thinking and adapting to the situation torwards your the goal laid in front of you.

That’s what Liadri is about.

And also, if you’re not being able to beat it because it doesn’t fit the casual standarts of your gameplay and like you’ve said, it’s causing anxiety issues.

Don’t try to fight her.

Hell Anet’s releasing new content every 2 weeks. It’s not like you’re gonna miss MUCH, and lose up a bit of that completionist pride dude. Ti’s not like it’s gonna kill you.

You might read this as a personal attack just because you’re a casual and that you have to rightfully take care of your real life above completing the game. But I don’t agree with a lot of the points you tried to make within this thread.

Take care.

Boycott Liadri

in Living World

Posted by: Denovean.2785

Denovean.2785

I’ve beaten Liadri and I can honestly say it had absolutely nothing to do with player skill. I basically kept feeding tickets to the Ringmaster until I got lucky with 1. orb RNG and 2. being able to find safe spots in P2 because the red circles are nearly impossible to see.

Any encounter that relies on RNG and visual limitations as heavily as this one does as a means of “difficulty” is not indicative of skill whatsoever as far as I’m concerned. I wanted a real challenge and instead I got this. It was a very poorly designed fight and by far the least amount of enjoyment I’ve had in GW2.

Have you read any guides in how to deal with her fight phases? You can also turn off Post Processing to remove the ‘blind’ effect she randomly chucks at you. The aoe circles that 1 shot you follow a fixed pattern everytime you fight her. Knowing what you’re getting into is half the battle. Understanding how the red circles pattern work will give you less trouble than you would’ve had. Oh and the cosmic rifts spawn at the same places too during phase 1 :p

Boycott Liadri

in Living World

Posted by: Denovean.2785

Denovean.2785

Even though I don’t necessarily agree with all the hate being thrown at this particular thread I also don’t approve your suggestion of an easy mode. Liadri is a bossfight created within the idea that not everyone would be able to beat. And suggesting the addition of an easy mode contradicts the developer’s design decision to make it a hard fight. So you can protest all you want about boycotting the daffy slag. But in my eyes, it should be kept the way it is. Since there isn’t much challenging content in the game that recquires players to access different strategies and knowladge of classes in order to achieve success.
