Having problems with this to this day. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Never know which patch will break it or fix it. Wish we could get a permanent fix.
Somewhat unrelated, the search function of these forums is terrible. Couldn’t find what I was looking for by typing keywords into it, but I could when I typed the very same words into Google, which is how I found this old topic.
Mine updated today as well. This was after Iron Marches which I have probably done about four times before. I don’t understand it at all, but at least it’s over with. Glad to hear they will improve how achievements like this will be tracked in the future.
12/13 here. I thought Fireheart Rise might be my last one, so I tried to do it tonight. Unfortunately, me and a lot of other people got booted, and when we logged back in were of course, sent to overflow. We completed on overflow but I’m still 12/13. I’m now 100% positive I’ve done all maps, outside of Fireheart, twice over.
It was the last achievement I needed for the meta, but for some reason yesterday when doing dailies, one of my dailies gave me credit towards the meta achievement. So instead of getting 25 AP I got 1 from the daily. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s part of the problem.
I just got this one a few minutes ago. Is it legit? Usually phishing attempts go straight to my spam filter but seeing as this one got through to my inbox it got me concerned.
I’d love to see some data to back up the ‘good class’ claim. Because, from my point of view, personal fun is not equivalent to general effectiveness.

Tried the newly released 13.3 beta drivers, recording still causes crashes and bsods. Have reported to AMD but has anyone else got any news regarding this, maybe a workaround?
I’m having the same problems. I tried using Bandicam and got the blue screen. I restarted and tried MSI Afterburner, game crashes. I tried updating to the latest beta drivers, no go. Was OC’d, switched everything to default, still can’t record. Tried other games, namely The Witcher 2, Torchlight 2 and Borderlands with both MSI and Bandicam and can record them fine. I had been recording GW2 videos fine as well up until I’m assuming January’s update (today was my first time recording since then).

EDIT: Continued to read on this and it’s an issue with the 13.2 drivers. 13.1 work fine.
Only for the people who actually logged in, participated and got disconnected though, not the whole real life stuff. It was a one time event that was announced weeks prior and if you couldn’t make it, you just couldn’t make it. That’s life. You shouldn’t get rewarded for not playing. If that’s the case then there was no point in anyone doing anything yesterday when they could have just logged in and gotten the loot for free. That’s a completely insane idea to suggest.
No. Anet don’t give people something they knew as a one time event. Everyone knew this would occur once and should have prepared as such.
If you cater to those who chose to do something else other than play the game, it’s a slap to the face of those who actually did give up something.
No, not everyone knew, and even if they did not everyone can be there 24 hours a day. i got home at 4pm Aus time only to find people with precursors that i don’s even get a chance at because the only chance i had ended in a crash.
When you log into the game, there were Lost Shore reminders all over that splash page. If you didn’t know about the events, it’s because you chose to not know. All you had to do was click on the “Click here to learn more” to find out. You shouldn’t be rewarded because you chose to remain ignorant.

I like many other could care less about the loot, i am just sad to miss out on a major event since i am supposed to plan my life around a game if i want to experience the content it seems.

Like I said, my complaint was that the chest was no longer farmable, not that that I didn’t get to loot a one time chest from a one time event or that I didn’t get exotics like everyone else because I did get exotics from those chests. I complained a little about the greens I got from that one chest and moved on. It is not the same as people asking for a one time event to not be one time anymore, or even worse, asking to be given something for doing nothing. If you couldn’t make it, you just couldn’t make it. Get over it.
I got a precursor and sure I was happy about that, but I am in no way praising Anet because of it. The actual event was terrible. It was extremely hard to tag mobs even with a full group. There were many karka that I seemingly helped kill but got no credit whatsoever. I died 4 of 5 times to invisible enemies. The lag was beyond horrible. In all honestly the event was most unplayable. I just stuck around to see what would happen. The loot was just a bonus, I wasn’t expecting it. I feel really bad for the people who stuck around but got disconnected at the end and didn’t get anything.

That was not in response to a one time event, it was a response to what was apparently a bug on Anet’s part that I was upset I missed out on. Again, false equivalency. Other events and other chests do not have the same content or rewards that this event had. Naturally you’re satisfied because you attended, and got the precursor, Storm. Granted not everyone who attended got great rewards, but they still got the opportunity to experience the event and the content.

Guaranteed huh? I guarantee you, I wouldn’t be. It’s just a game. I got Storm sure, and will promptly be giving it to a friend of mine who didn’t make it today. When I told her about the event after it was over, sure she was disappointed but she didn’t complain and said grats and that she hopes she can make the next one.

We all know why the events you list won’t be repeated: They are too expensive to run again.

Because it was an event that changed the game’s world by opening up a new part of the map. Wouldn’t make sense to keep repeating it. Anet wanted to make a one time dynamic event to introduce a new zone, and used this weekend to do so. People have known about it for weeks now. If real life got in the way, oh well, it’s just a game.
I agree after fighting that boss for 3 hours only for my game to lock up at the last second I got really pissed off not to get that chest and would really appreciated the chance to get the awesome loot.

Of course it’s unequal. It’s a one time event. It’s pretty much a fact that everyone is not going to be able to make it. If you can’t make it, move on with your life, it’s just a game.
One time event is one time event. There are other repeatable events with chests at the end in the game.
The other events and their rewards are not even remotely comparable to what occurred today.

Today’s event should be made repeatable and everyone should have the opportunity to experience it and be rewarded for doing so. Make it so that the chest cannot be opened by those who already completed the chest. Fair and easy.

Why would you give a person a reward for something they didn’t do? Weren’t able to attend? Well then you weren’t able to attend, move on with your life. Complaining will not help, all you complainers saw this on the halloween event.
This is the argument that bothers me most. A lot of the people who received the reward chest were NOT around to participate on Friday/Saturday while people who DID participate these days but not on Sunday received NOTHING. The scavenger hunt was definitely enough work to deserve equal reward.
People aren’t asking for a reward for doing NOTHING. They’re asking for a reward for participating during the other parts of the weekend. Perfectly reasonable.
Sunday’s event was Sunday’s, not Friday’s and Saturday’s. The scavenger hunt was nowhere near enough to get an equal reward and I say this after doing the scavenger hunts and today’s events. They aren’t in the same league. You really are asking for something for nothing.
Unless of course you’re one of the people who got dc’d during the event before the end and couldn’t get their rewards. Those are the people I truly feel bad for and I hope Anet helps them somehow, but just them.
4 exotics for a three hour fight fine give me a chance at that 3 hours and i would be happy to do it what is the PITA is i wasnt given a chance having an event once at a time that might be fine for people West coast USA but a kitten for people the other side of the pacific.
Played since beta currently have 4 exotics you plaed for 3 hours got 4 exotics what is fair about that?
You could do explorable dungeons (getting the daily path bonuses) and buy 4 exotics in about 3 hours.
I think the idea to give the chest to all is completely insane.
I understand if you get DC’d during the event, I was such a person, had to go back about an hours worth of event. I spent a good few hours on it, and for someone to go to chest after doing nothing, I speak for a large portions of players, I’d be pissed to say the least.
As some have said, may as well just mail everyone a set of exotics for stepping on the island. ¬_¬

Maybe Anet should just put an NPC in LA that gives out Karka hats for the people who didn’t participate for whatever reason like during Halloween. I mean they already have the baby karkas getting attached to your head, just turn it into a hat. That sounds fair to me.
I think that they should mail people the box and the accessory for those who did not get to do the event. Leaving the chest out is one thing, but personally I wasn’t able to attend the event due to work and I just want the unique items for the event.
If you weren’t able to attend the event that’s just unfortunate. That’s no reason for you to get a reward chest from an event.
The only people who seem to have an argument are the people who WERE there but got disconnected before they could loot. Those are the only legitimate complainers IMO and I hope Anet helps them. Everyone else is basically asking for free loot, which isn’t fair to the people who actually trudged through the event and doesn’t make a lick of sense.
Why would/Should anyone that didn’t do the event get access to the chest? I’m so flabbergasted by this idea. I didn’t get to do the event but this idea of yours makes no sense. Might as well give everyone all the gear they need at level 80 in a chest as a prize for making it to 80 too amirite?

Doesn’t matter if you have a big group anyway. You will die, period. The mobs are too OP and too plentiful. They are invisible until you die most of the time anyway.
Same thing happened to me. I share your pain. I don’t even waypoint anymore after i get killed by an invisible enemy. I just sit there and chat in /say with all the other dead fools around me afraid to waypoint.
you got a free map wich will settle when the big attention is away from it. it will settle. you got a free new map. you have not payed for this map. just wait a bit and i’m pretty sure this map will give beter drops once all people move on again (the majority atleast) saying you dont want to play anymore just because of this is just… sad.
This is a one.time.event. Stop brown nosing. People are more than justified in complaining about this. It has been a disaster.
You’re right, this current DE has killed everyone trying to attempt it. The kicker is when we go to waypoint, we either crash and have to restart, unable to join our parties in the now full overflows OR we sit at a never ending loading screen. How do you design events that your engine can’t support?
Well, I just did it on my Asuran ele, traited for the speed boost and yep, I was much faster than everyone else except other eles traited for speed. It wasn’t even close. We had about a second’s wait on that first cog for everyone else to catch up and as soon as I heard the wall break, I was gone. You don’t have to wait until it’s fully formed to begin the jump.
