I think what OP is saying is they have max experience for the three masteries’ current levels but not enough mastery points to actually learn the next level in any of the masteries. In which case, the XP disappears into the mists never to be seen again.
Ugh, I’m a moron
It goes towards earning spirit shards – you get one for every 254,000 exp you earn once you’ve completed all the masteries for the region you’re earning that exp in (I also don’t think it has been asked ever, since anet told us about this when the masteries were introduced, and the ui does a pretty good job of indicating what happens imo).
Same problem here, lost my Chosen title and points (not skins though). Happened when the game crashed. Will this thread be noticed or should I write a ticket?
As a happy owner of static spinal blades, I was running around verdant brink yesterday, and as I leapt of a cliff I thought to myself – Dang, wouldn’t it be be cool as hell if my static spinal blades didn’t disappear while I’m in mid-air to be replaced by whatever glider skin I have equipped, but instead unfurled so I could glide on them?
So, basically, what do you guys think about a glider skin that didn’t override your back-piece, but instead – if it was viable, e.g. the above-mentioned spinal blades, or the feathery wings from the gemstore, or wings of ascension – incorporated it into the gliding animation? I’d imagine it would take quite a bit of work to make animations for all of viable items, but I know I would buy it from the gemstore the day it came out.
since you can get heroes and henchmen do you really need people?
Yes. Well you can get through the core stories, but don’t expect to be doing too many dungeons and stuff.
Sorry, but that’s not really true at all, you can get through even the hardest PvE stuff with just heroes, since you can fill your party with them. Just check http://gwpvx.gamepedia.com/PvX_wiki for the right build
I’ve been playing since beta and never took another class above lvl 40. I suppose it’s all to preference, but seems like eles are just faster to play with having 25 skills instead of 15-20. Also, don’t call my race cute, they’re self-centered little scumbag kittens (or at least that’s what they’re supposed to be)
I don’t know if this is the right place to post this, but wouldn’t it be cool if we could dye armor pieces that are actually two objects – boots, pauldrons and gloves – differently from one another? Is it something that could be implemented? It would enable some nice asymmetric designs, and enable us to customize our looks even further!
Same problem here, the fps is fine (not worse than normal anyway), but playing is a chore, with wvw being literally unplayable, because of what appears to be terrible lag; despite the connection being fine.
tl dr: I don’t want to become the most important person in the story in season 2, I would just want the game not to ignore who I am. Discuss
Many people seem to complain that the living story doesn’t recognize the players’ characters as important figures even though they’re commanders of the pact, slayers of Zhaitan and whatnot.
Even though I agree, that it’s weird that I cannot order some pact troops to help with the fight against scarlet, and that it’s obvious that there are some rather unexplainable holes in the logic of the ls coming from the fact that I’m so important and politically powerful, I would NOT want to become the sole saviour of the world and the only guy responsible for killing Mordy. I’m 100% ok with the fact that I was but a part of the greater effort to take down Scarlet with Braham, Rox and the rest, just as I have no problem with only being second (or third, or tenth) to Treehearne (who imo still is a horrible character) while defeating Zhaitan alongside Destiny’s Edge.
Ls should acknowledge who I am, and there shouldn’t be plot holes and inconsistencies as an effect my position and past deeds, but I really hope I don’t become the greatest saviour of the world in season 2, in an MMO that’s just silly. I’m interestekittenhe only one with such approach?
+1 OP, great post, but I actually disagree with the criticism of GW’s magic. Different fantasies treat it differently, and in GW’s case it is treated differently by different races, for example, for humans it is a gift from the gods, while (even though the humans belief is historically accurate) for the asura it is just a natural force to be tampered with, like electricity. Scarlet – allegedly – learned from the asura, so it is understandable that for her it was but a source of power for machines and weapons.
Question about KasJory Romance [Spoiler-ish]
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

I think that if the people have no problem with walking plants, human-sized half bears half cats and waist-high grey people with giant ears, it would be kinda strange if they had problems with two women being in a relationship.
For the Horde !
Horde isn’t evil. It is just more manly, more awesome and better compared to the lame suckers from the alliance. Also, lok’tar ogar.
He is nothing compared to the idiot that was master togo in gw1. Master of stuck behind a rock and fail the mission.
I’m pretty sure this thread is about the character and his personality (or the lack of one), not about A.I. bugs. Togo was, at the very least, interesting enough to die.
I actually liked the ME3 ending (after extended cut that is)
Obviously Jora from GW1. Dat armor… even though war heroes sucked I still used her haha.
If we’re counting Guild Wars 1 heroes, the answer is Livia.
Come on, counting GW1 it’s got to be Koss – he’s so hawt/manly/uber that even he himself is attracted to… himself.
How many games truly qualify for the title of e-sport anyway?
all I can think of are Starcraft, LoL and a few fighting games.
Dota 2, Counter Strike (trying), Tribes (trying), whichever CoD they’e playing now (also trying).
My thoughts on GW2 from a GW1 player:
They are 2 totally different games, and the only thing that connects them is fluff. Judging one in comparison to the other makes absolutely no sense.
You guys haven’t commented on what I said about the Charr and Asuran races. I don’t think anyone can deny that most people really don’t like to play those races. This game just doesn’t have enough cool races. People want to play epic characters, and that means being a race that you think is cool. Look at WoW, a lot cooler selection of races… blood elves, night elves, orcs, dwarves, goblins, etc.
That was a joke, wasn’t it?
GW1 and 2 are so different that they comparing them is kinda pointless, maybe another option in that question? Also, shouldn’t there be an “I don’t care about that” answer in each one? (for example, I don’t give a kitten about how many guilds a person can be part of)

Please, if you turn this discussion to just another complaint about how the game is dead there is smaller chance someone might actually read it and think about what the op was all about. Just stop answering him, doing it ruins the thread.
I don’t know if it’s the right place to bring it up, but shouldn’t supply packages in wvw drop only if u are not carrying max supplies already? It’s really annoying when you get 2 of of those in a row while already having 10 supplies – hey, you looted air!
Skills are full of references:
Shield of the Avenger – Captain America, The Avengers, S.H.I.E.L.D.
Sword of Justice – A reference to the sword that Lady Justice is holding
Call of the Wild – The book ‘The Call of the Wild’ by Jack London, about a sled dog named buck
Dart – A reference to a great white shark attack, where it ambush seals from below at high speed, and hits them mid-body to knock them out
Search and Rescue – The SAR rescue teams
Thunderclap – A headache that happens very rapidly
Trick Shot – A type of pool game
Scorpion Wire – The signature move of Scorpion from Mortal Combat
The Prestige – The movie The Prestige
Portal – The game Portal
Sorry, but imo you’re just over thinking it. Trick shot is just a tricky shot and thunderclap meaning something isn’t a reference. Also, sword of justice… well, I’d say it’s just a sword of justice, reference to so an ambiguous concept is hardly a reference, and Portal… it’s just a portal, that’s what the thing’s called, don’t see any reference to the game there. Making references out of everything isn’t finding them
The largos are cool and their fluff seems to be interesting if expanded. If only they haven’t looked like like overgrown butterflies
The build-up to the new content is just incredibly slow.
I too have been wondering what was in that 1.1 GB patch I downloaded.
Refugees
1GB of just refugees, which can be farmed for an achievement
Ye, refugees are quite fat u know, not to mention their dolyaks, and internet is just full of them. Downloading them is the humanitarian thing to do

Whoa, I did not saw that coming. No she does not. Does she remind YOU of your current girlfriend to become so offended by a negative opinion?
Hahaahahahaa, I HATE sieran more than hated any npc ever. The moment she died was the happiest moment not only of my personal story, but of my whole experience with gw2. Never before have I met more annoying, stupid, useless, and lame npc. The realization that I would never hear that voice again was relieving beyond words. And believe me, I’m not trolling, I’m dead serious. Even treehearn is better than she was.
Why all the hate on Trahearne? I liked him…
Now Logan, there’s a guy to hate.
Hah, I hate them both! Neither as much as Seiran though. Ahhhh, her death was my happiest moment of this game.
You enjoyed watching a 5 year old die?
You bet. I don’t think I ever loeathed a video game character more. I wanted her to die even more than I did Handsome Jack.

This discussion is a bit tldr for me, so I’ll just say this: pleeeeeeaaaaaseeeeeeeee, kittens and unicorns will cry if u don’t bring Cantha back. Factions was my first GW1, and it had the best atmosphere, the best fluff, the best villain – come on, Shiro was A W E S O M E – and, also it rocked.
Well, yeah, everybody figured it out about… a long time ago. You said nothing that hasn’t been said already.
I think Guild Wars 2 is a pretty cool guy. Eh is fun to play and doesn’t afraid of anything.
The Great Zehtuka, surely!?
This. I mean, this thread should be closed know, since the question is answered, and nobody could ever doubt it.
-Sylvari (unique)
Actually they’re really just elves, only they’re plants. Also, they’re lame.
I still cannot understand why people who say they are finished with this game are still active on this forum. Is that to warn people off from playing a bad game? If so, as you can see, there is about the same amount of people who say it is a good one, so clearly it’s just a matter of personal preference, and anyhow, you will never know if you won’t check for yourself. In light of this, I really don’t know what you’re doing here, but raging and/or trolling.
And I know that everyone’s just answering the question, but as you can see, you just have to check yourself (and it doesn’t cost you indeed, so I don’t see why ask in the first place).
Well, as an ele I always envied all of you medium armors, imo they’re awesome. So there you go
Firearms, crossbows and melee coexisted for centuries.
Well, yeah, mainly because the firearms couldn’t shoot as fast, nor as accurate, also they were far more expensive (both in production, and in exploitation), harder to use, and their development just started when that of bows and crossbows was already at it’s peak. But none of it is a case in this game, so any such historical/logical argument makes no sense.
How do the Sylvari govern themselves at all? What are the actual political borders of the 5 races’ territories? What about the Asura and Sylvari?
You seem to forget that people who say “Less violence, more violets.” need no such petty thing as a government, for they are good incarnate, and politics surely are beneath them (sylvari are SOOO lame).
Also, in asura personal storyline there is some politics, SPOILER, the arcane council uses the arcane eye as a de facto secret police to control the population (they try to cover up prof. gorrs research about the dragons, as in their opinion they are of no danger, and the research would only upset the population). When you confront head of the council he outright states that.
Another thing is, asura aren’t a race to care much for how much territory they control, they are just happy to do research in the allspark.
But aside from that, I agree, politics aren’t covered much in GW2 (less so than in GW1 anyway, but then again there was actually a surprising amount of politics and intrigue there).
I think that chef UI could use some improvement. The matter is, it’s kind of unfriendly when dicovering new recipes, which hurts especially, when you’re a completionist who “gotta catch ’em all”, without the help of the wiki.
Main problem is, that you don’t now if there are any recipies yet undiscovered using a component you can make, until you make it (and even then, I’m not always sure with the mess that’s going on in the discovery tab). I hate making bowl of poultry stock or whatever, just to find it out to be a complete waste, which is even worse with more expansible or rare products.
If you could see if there are any things to be discovered with a component before you make it, that would be just about awesome. Also, maybe sort the discovery tab alphabetically, or by level requirement of component, since it’s quite a mess there sometimes.
I know that this is problematic, since obviously other crafting disciplines are less complicated and don’t encounter such problems about at all, and there’s single UI for all of them, but still, any improvement would be much appreciated.
Fair battles, or massive sieges being won/lost by portals is one thing, but to those saying portals are fine, consider another situation: you are trying to retake the entrance tower on some enemy borderlands, where your server controls nothing, you’re out-manned, and said tower is fortified like hell. So, when after an hour of fruitless skirmishes, you somehow finally get enough people to build a treb or two at greenvale to bombard the tower, and defend the narrow entrance to the supply camp. Guess what happens after 5 minutes? BAM, portal bomb by some mesmer who somehow got through. And no, you can in no way defend against it – you are spread out defending the camp, outnumbered and dead in 10 seconds.
