DDOS - cant you..

Exactly. We want new players in the game. There will always be DDOS attacks until the internet is perfectly protected and I don’t think that will ever happen.

Hmm to bombard the login server they need accounts and 1000s/ 10,000 + do you really think they would do this with paid accounts lol … hence there where no DDOS issue prior to free trail accounts.

- I did say untill the issue has had a proper work around ie with firewalls

Yes you may loose a few new players, isnt that worth being able to play with out lag and dc, also do you not think they loose more from the cash shop not being used in the mean time?

Not really. Shortly before gw2 became f2p, Lizardsquad went on a rampage DDoSing servers left and right which affected many games like gw2, LoL, Blizzard’s titles, etc. They also brought down PlayStation Network and Xbox Live.
They would even announce beforehand which games they were going to target any day the week on their twitter account.

I don’t know much about how they did it, except that you need a “botnet”, but free accounts were not involved back then.

I don’t know if the node right before the servers has something to do with them or not, could be, but I do agree that they have a big issue in EU right now.

Dhorghar please refrain for going of point and read all posts

Anyway it was nice again to play a pvp without lag now out of peek hours.
It IS NOT BETWEEN anyway not always. I’m following the addresses when i’m playing and it’s a mess , sometimes the node before them, sometimes just their servers.
Did they change something ? so there is more traffic who tell’s

What I’ve said is pretty much on point. If it was anet’s servers everybody in EU would have lag, but that is not the case. You have to let pingplotter run for at least half an hour, not just a minute or so which could skew the results. All my pingplotter’s reports show that it’s just the node before anet’s servers, not the servers themselves.

Huge lag and delay

Tried reinstalling the game. Same as before, ping goes from usual ~60ms to 2k.
If it’s not my computer, the game client, or my isp… then what is it? My account was handpicked to suffer this extreme lag?
Opening a ticket, will publish another 3 minute vid from tonight.

There’s nothing you can do that will fix the problem and it has nothing to do with what you’ve done so far. The issue that you many others in EU are experiencing has to do with some servers between your ISP and anet’s servers throttling traffic.

You’d be much better off running Pingplotter or winmtr that will tell you which nodes between your ISP and anet’s servers are problematic. This won’t fix the issue either but at least you’ll have have some info to attach to your ticket.

At this point he’s just making a fool of himself.

All these comments from people that have yet to beat a boss about how raids are not great because the mechanics are easy, and that the true skilled players are those in pvp are nothing more than weak attempts at trying to compensate for their lack of success in raids. Some just feel the need to diminish someone else’s accomplishments and the overall success of raids. It makes them feel a bit better, sadly.

They obviously won’t admit this, that would hurt their self-esteem. They’ll blame the elitism or something else instead and talk about how rude and obnoxious raiders are. Welp, guess what, we all have met bad apples in game but that didn’t deter us from doing raids.
Also, truth is that nothing is so black or white; for every player that has had a bad experience in raids there are others who are enjoying them.

I don’t cry about PVP backpack locking behind PVP content.

The fact that this keeps getting brought up, is really is starting to sound like ya’ll are whining about it.

You also ignored the fact there is no thread about it, while there is 19 pages of you crying for raid easy mode.

Seller beware? Avoid the TP?

How does this even work? You can’t pick and choose which person you buy or sell from on the TP.

If you’re selling an item, it can only be bought when all cheaper quantities have been sold. If you’re buying, you can only purchase the cheapest available.

This would require a very specific set of circumstances. And even then, there’s going to be hundreds of players who would be ‘involved’ because they have an item priced cheaper than the intended RMT target purchase.

Edit: Nevermind, seems like Spidy is giving me data from a year ago.

The velocity is not that high for all the items in-game.

That’s why RMT traders choose markets that have a really low supply or items that can no longer be acquired in-game by any other means rather than the residual supply in the tp like the arcane sliver market. It was not a coincidence. If you don’t have a a very specific set of circumstances, you create them.

Also, I would use gw2tp instead of gw2spidy. https://www.gw2tp.com/

I can see where they’re coming from but my point stands that if someone stands to gain substantially by botting, they’ll find a way to continue to do so no matter the length of the punishment. Not many people are that determined which is why there’s more legit players than those breaking the rules by making money off a game and therefore the ‘minor’ botting offences are more easily forgiveable.

You asked for the source and I gave you the source. I’d rather believe what the studies made by Blizzard and other companies/groups conclude, which, by the way, is exactly what anet has done with this ban wave, than what a random nobody says on the internet.

Actually it has been proven that temporary suspensions are more effective than permanent bans when dealing with most botters.

Source? All the ones I’ve dealt with in the past have simply returned once the ban’s up or got a new account/MAC/HWID to bypass. They generally have enough disposable income to fund such habits that most normal players couldn’t – sometimes through their exploits/botting. If someone really wants to bot, and it’s a means of income, they will find a way to do so.

The thing that amuses me is that it’s a ban for 181.7 days, not a permanent ban. It’s not even half a year. Mirror of the video is pretty hilarious too. ‘We won’t take down any of the videos’… priceless.

This.

Exploiting in this manner (going out of your way to install software, not a bug exploit- which is bad, but doesn’t seem as heinous!) deserves a perma-ban.

Part II and III will be done before Hearth of Thorns comes out, and will be released at the same time…

If everything goes according to plan, and it never does apparently… i should release them tomorrow and then i scheduled to be part of a podcast discussing the videos on the 22nd… featuring Brazil, Teapot… and who ever wishes to challenge me.

Would also like to take the opportunity to thank once again to all the people who send me their plays, sorry if you didn’t make it in the video though… there’s simply no way to fit everything into two videos even…

Good find, Crimson Magdelana. Hopefully Arenanet can sort this out.

Actually it was posted on reddit way before the op made a thread in this forum. Perhaps both are the same person, I don’t know. Otherwise the guy on reddit deserves the credit for having exposed this ripoff.

How to get Legendary armor outside of raids?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Dhorghar.5249

Dhorghar.5249

So apparently Legendary armor will be available for players who like to raid, which is great for those players, but what about all those players who have zero interest in raiding but who want to earn Legendary armor? What methods will be available for them? Well we be able to earn armor pieces through the Legendary Precursor crafting system that’s being added?

Keep in mind that a large chunk of GW2’s population is here to get away from raiding type games.

You don’t get it, period. Live with it.

The restrictions were datamined by the almighty that_shaman long ago.

Only one or two character slots

Limit of level 15

Seems like a limit on how high a “rank” you can get (specific to trial or possibly PvP related)

Only able to send mail to friends.

Can’t send items or gold through mail

Can’t speak in map chat

Can’t access Team Arenas

Can’t access main WvW maps (EB and Borderlands)

Can’t sell items on TP.

Really? So adding a couple of new skins in content not doable by everyone suddenly will force 75% of the playerbase to leave? Out of a million skins they can’t get ONE and it’s the end of the world?

Blatant exaggeration does not help anyone’s position, including yours.

I don’t know about the “million skins” but that is probably a figure of speech like phys.7689 has mentioned above.

However, the “75% of the playerbase” was just a quote from CorrynnStarr.7942 who actually believes that adding a bit of challenging content would mean the end of a 10 year old franchise. That’s how ridiculous this is getting for the lack of better arguments against adding a bit of challenging content.

Dhorghar.5249

So what I’m getting from OP is this example

1 man practices, keeps in shape, does all he can to prepare for a competitive sport.
2nd man can’t be bothered, because he doesn’t enjoy being active.

Both participate. 1st man ran the whole 10 miles. The other man took a nap and watched television and takes a taxi to the finish line and expects the same prize.

How is that fair to the person who earned it?

It’s not. And that’s what should matter more over.

It’s the same reason why drops and rewards are different for story mode dungeons vs explorable.

Elitists seem to forget, this isn’t a game about fairness, this is a game to be enjoyed… if a casual doesn’t enjoy it, game over, period. It doesn’t have to be fair or ethical or virtuous, or honorable, or respectable, or <insert descriptor here>.

What you are not understanding is that if you run 75% of your base off, you end up with an unfunded and dying game. Yes you will be a god, but it will only be of 6 people and your game will not be around long and then you will be off to ruin another game. Cuz if only the elite can have the end reward, no one will play but elites, and there is only so much room at the top my friend… those who cant attain it, will never play it making your reward obsolete in the end…

These pessimistic posts that prophesize the end of a 10 year old franchise because anet is gonna add just a bit of challenging content after 3 years in a game that is 99% casual always make me laugh.

Really? That’s your best argument? Usually it’s when people run out of good arguments that they start throwing all these nonsense about the end of world and how bad things are gonna be in the future.

That is borderline stupid. Anet is not gonna ruin their game, they know what they should and shouldn’t do to try to improve it, otherwise they wouldn’t have such a successful mmo. If they have decided to introduce a bit of challenging content is because they think it could benefit the game and it won’t ruin the fun for most players. Besides, we don’t even know what that content is yet, the details have not been disclosed yet but many of you in this thread are acting like if it’s going to be a disaster.

Don’t worry, gw2 will remain a casual friendly game as it is now. You’ll have to come up with better arguments than the old “it’s gonna be the end of the world” nonsense if you want to have some credibility.

nonsense

This is getting beyond ridiculous. I guess anet should fly you to WTS and give you $ 50K because everyone should have access to the good rewards no matter how skilled they are nor what they do in-game.
Since nothing gets better than a paid trip and cash money, all players should get those even if they have never been to pvp and all they do is afk in LA or chop trees in Timberline Falls.

it’s flawed design and not favourable towards new players, it’s not even favourable towards veterans. it’s only stupid.

Very much agree with this. I think the devs even agree with this to some degree because brand new Rangers have the Marksmanship XIII trait active, even though it’s not technically unlocked.

I understand there is a trait revamp coming, but if Anet is trying to on-board new players (like myself) before the expansion hits, this should be fixed in sPvP sooner rather than later.
