New Log in Screen and Asura issues.

Diablo.3416

It’s not just the asura, the new angle’s horrible with charr as well. While it fixed the issue of taller charr going off-screen, it now gives them a very nasty bobblehead effect. :/

Believe it or not, my head’s not the size of my ribcage >..>

Charr much?

Diablo.3416

It is certainly fast enough to play GW2.

I have DSL from AT&T and their fastest DSL package is 6 Mbit Download / 0.5 Mbit Upload and it is good enough.

Most games do not take much bandwidth, unless it’s a streaming client which is downloading the game in the background.

I would suggest you run the DirectX runtime if you are getting d3dx9 errors.

Follow this link: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35

Click download > click no thanks and continue > run/save the dxsetup.exe file from Microsoft’s website and let it run. It will download and update any files as needed. I would then reboot your computer to be safe and then give GW2 another shot.

Thanks for the reply everyone. I have suggested him to do those following things except for submitting a ticket.

He said over his mobile usb dongle that his IP changes all the time. I think he said he has approved and remembered his IP authorizations atleast 6 times now. I will tell him to keep approving and hopefully all his dynamic IP’s can be remembered.

If he continues to have troubles I will get him to submit a ticket. Thank you again guys.

Dynamic IP and Email Authentication

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Diablo.3416

Diablo.3416

Hello I am posting on behalf of a friend of mine that has recently bought the digital deluxe version of Guild Wars 2.

His problem is that he is from India and has a mobile broadband connection via a USB dongle and every time he tries to login to GW2 his IP changed because I’m assuming his ISP is setup to where he has dynamic IP’s so it is constantly changing on him.

I’m not sure if he can even disable email authentication anymore or not but he said he would like to keep it enabled for security purposes obviously.

Any help or suggestions?

GW2SETUP stuck

in Account & Technical Support

Diablo.3416

Whenever you went to install guild wars 2 did a firewall exceptions pop up and ask you to allow it access?

Also let me ask you this. When you went to go pick back up the download you didn’t click on gw2setup.exe again did you? Because the initial gw2setup.exe file is there to get the actual game installed and started and would then ask you where to install GW2 to and will create a Guild Wars 2 icon on your desktop and this is the one you use to play and finish downloading out the rest of your game.

[SOLVED] Performance troubles (Low FPS)

in Account & Technical Support

Posted by: Diablo.3416

Diablo.3416

If your willing we can try to repair the client.

On your desktop right click your GW2 shortcut and go to properties.

*A box will pop up and you will see a box field next to Target:
*Mine looks like this Target: “D:\Game Files\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe”
*So it should look like this in the end “D:\Game Files\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -repair

Simply add -repair to the end of this target path and click apply then ok and try launching the client. It will begin to repair and will close itself out when it’s finished.

Remember to remove the -repair from the Target field within the shortcut properties afterwords when it’s done.

You can also take an extra step (if repair does not change anything) and delete the Local.dat file. This file contains your graphics/audio settings locally and will reset it to default.

To do so simply hit WinKey+R to bring up the run box.
Then it will bring up a list of folders -> Go into the Guild Wars 2 folder.
Then locate the Local.dat file and just simply delete it.

Relaunch GW2.

And if none of this works and you continue to only get around 30 FPS. I would suggest updating your DirectX runtimes.

http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35

This will provide updates to DirectX 9.0c which is what GW2 uses (WHY ANET???, Why code your game on old outdated technology?)

If this game was only more optimized….reflections are broke as hell btw.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Reflections-setting this is a good thread to read upon that problem.

This guy said that Windows Update automatically updated his GPU driver and on his next format around he excluded the GPU update from Windows.

How are you updating your GPU drivers. Through windows update or through nvidia’s main website?

If you are grabbing it directly from nvidia’s website then there may be something wrong with your ntdll.dll and you could try running the sfc /scannow command through an elevated cmd prompt to see if that would clear up the issue but try at your own responsibility, just ask for help if you are willing to give it a go.

Help with wrong armor piece bought?

If this isn’t possible then maybe an option to exchange an armor piece back to the vendor within x amount of time and if you have not equipped it yet. I can think of certain other mmorpg’s that allow you to do this just in-case this accident does happened.

Try right clicking the Guild Wars 2 icon (depending upon if it asked you where to install and it created a desktop icon) and click run as administrator and see if this will allow you.

Also make sure Guild Wars 2 Game Client is added to your windows firewall allowed programs list.

You can also try deleting the local.dat file if it has of course created one during the installation procedure.

To do so open up Run via WinKey+R or simply clicking your start button → typing run > hit enter and then copy and paste in the following line

C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2

and hit enter, a folder will pop up and you will see local.dat file just delete this file and try to re run GW2.

Uninstalling via device manager will not suffice. I skimmed through your log and the driver version appears to date back to Feb 2013.

You need to go into control panel and uninstall the nvidia drivers there and reboot and download the latest drivers from http://www.geforce.com/drivers

Perform these actions and if it still happens it could be the famous nvidia and new gw2 update that seems to occur every time they release an update.

I know a couple buddies who has nvidia gpu’s and they seems to crash over and over after a new gw2 update, they eventually release a hotfix that fixes things.

Here are some steps for you to take.

1. Shut down computer and clean it the best you can. Take off the little fan shroud on top of your video card and clean out the dust with an old tooth brush as others have stated. Be gentle.

2. Boot up and uninstall your old nvidia drivers from the control panel add/remove programs. Reboot and then delete any nVidia folders you find within program files if there is any present.

3. Go here http://www.geforce.com/drivers and choose the geforce 9 series and then your operating system, with 8GB of RAM I assume you have 64 bit. Example: Windows 7 64-bit. Download and install the latest WHQL driver from nVidia which is currently 331.65 – WHQL. It will probably ask you to reboot after install.

Hope this helps and to further address your high heat problems make sure you clean everything up in your case and under your gpu fan shroud.

Also if you are interested in downclocking your card to it’s stock clocks I would recommend MSI Afterburner this program should work.

Stock clocks can be found here: http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-9600-gt/specifications

As for the defaut voltage all I could find on it is this from techpowerup.com “Default vGPU voltage for the GeForce 9600GT is 1.10 V at idle”

if cleaning and drivers don’t find your problems then I would try the msi afterburner and setting clocks to their reference clocks.

If you need to know something do not hesitate to ask.

If your GPU is idle it will read that it’s running at x1 speed due to power saving features.

Launch up your game or run a quick Furmark or you can simply click the blue question mark next to Bus Interface and click start render test, so monitor GPU-Z and see if your Bus Interface reads one of the following

PCI-E 2.0 x16 1.1
PCI-E 2.0 x16 2.0 or maybe it reads 2.1.

It may also read PCI-E 2.0 x4 which means you may have it in the wrong PCI Express slot as Behellagh mentioned.

I checked out your motherboard on ASUS website and your PCI-Express slots are as follows

1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (blue)
1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4 mode, black)

So make sure you have your GPU sitting in the blue slot.

Ok so I will randomly get these loud pops and it echoes throughout the game and it just doesn’t sound like it should be natively coming from GW2. It occurs between 8 and 9 seconds. I took the picture from audacity and put it in the video so you can notice the pop in the audio map or whatever that thing is called.
